United lacked quality players bar De Gea before Mourinho arrived while City had 5 players you could call world class as at the end of 15/16.

Yet, Woodward allowed City to still outspend him even though he was lagging behind before the arrival of Mou/Pep.

Mourinho signed 10 players for United, Pep signed 23 players while Jose was with us. An ambitious club would have signed many more players for Mourinho to catch up with Man City. In fact, we signed fewer players and we somehow expected Jose to perform a biblical miracle.

Rebuilding United squad with elite players would cost nothing less than £500m. No accountant would spend £500m to chase £15m.

So apart from the bragging rights that we(the fans) want, there’s no financial sense in rebuilding United for the purpose of winning a league title.

Hiring Mourinho cost just £15m a year. That’s like signing Phil Jones. Even little Amad Diallo cost more than twice as much(£37m) as a reserve player. You can’t call that a genuine intention to win the Premier League

What’s the point in hiring Mourinho when the tools he was given in defence consisted Jones + Smalling and 2 ex-wingers on the north side of 30 years of age to compete for the PL title?

Why shouldn’t he rated by goals?

Until Bruno’s arrival, the general perception was that attacking midfielders should only be rated by assists and key passes, Bruno has quickly changed that notion.

He’s leading your favorite strikers(Kane, Calvert-Lewin, Vardy, Aubameyang, Watkins, Ings) on the scorer’s chart. Bruno has changed the narrative, an attacking midfielder can score goals too.

As for the 8 key passes created by KDB, 2 were from corner kicks and some of the other 6 were from indirect freekicks into United box. KDB did little today.

Bruno’s number of key passes have been reduced ever since Ole has put Shaw on set plays. It still doesn’t justify why KDB has just 1 open play goal in 22 appearances this season.

Wan Bissaka has more open play goals than KDB.

Bruno and De Bruyne went into this game with the objective of winning the match for their respective teams.

Bruno got the job done by scoring one of the goals, KDB shot blanks and his team lost.

How then is KDB rated higher?

That’s because Pep has no plan B.

KDB stopped performing the moment Bruno started playing for us.

There’s a reason Bruno is the most productive midfielder since he arrived in England. His stats are ridiculous - he’s always involved.

Whether it’s because he’s the only creative hub we have and KDB has like 5 is a different argument entirely. It’s fraudulent to deny what Bruno has contributed since his arrival.

He’s just won himself the PFA player of the season with tonight’s performance. He cannot be stopped now.

They will do extremely well against City in curtailing or stopping their intricate passes. The biggest challenge with McFred is what they do with the ball after winning it. This seems to be their biggest weakness. Fred’s use of the ball is horrendous but he’s excellent at winning them.

Ole’s tactical acumen will be to sit back, hope McFred wins the ball in a moment when City have camped in United’s half and then launch a counterattack.

If Fred makes use of the ball very well like he did in the same fixture last season, United could get a draw or even win. Besides, don’t forget it’s a derby game. Form flies out of the window in such games because a lot of other factors are in play.

I told you guys yesterday - this sort of game is bread and butter for McFred.

Wan Bissaka is the unsung hero though - 5 interceptions(the most), 3 tackles(the most) and no City player dribbled past him.

Greenwood - inexperienced, often played out of position.

The trio won’t win us a PL title. None of them would make our 07/08 or 12/13 starting XIs.
