I have given you a practical example from a giant club. Had Giggs won all the games he managed satisfactorily, he would have gotten the job. It was a cheaper option for the Glazers.

The way Bayern crush Bundesliga(expected to win the league title every year) is the way Man Utd should be crushing the Premier League. It was like that until the Glazers arrived.

Fergie being an elite manager covered their ass for 8 years but as soon as he was gone, the magic and the hunger to win the biggest prizes left with him.

I would agree with you if you say that the recruiting system needs to change, maybe they need to define a system of play, buy players that fit the system, and then hire managers that can marry both (players and the system) to achieve success.

The Glazers have spent a lot since Fergie resigned, and they will continue to spend. Only City has spent more than us, and the difference is not significant. But Chelsea, Liverpool have enjoyed more successes (bar City).

Now, to the matter on ground, if we don’t find a way to get OGS to win trophies now, and we don’t sack him by end of the season, the guy may not win anything for United until 2023/2024 after he would have spent over 800m. Unfortunately, we would have lost relevance by then. We need to continue to sack and hire for trophies, Chelsea, Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern are examples of club that keep churning our results with the ‘hire and fire’ model.

The equivalent of that is buying Ronaldo about 5 years ago to win the Champions League.

Anything short of that is not a comparable example. There’s a difference in buying a mercenary and buying the mercenary.

Buying the best player in the game is different from buying a bunch of mercenaries who aren’t in the top 5 players in Europe at any time in the last 20 years.

In those 2 years, no trophy has been won. He’s not achieved any of what his last 2 predecessors did. He has 2 chances left in Europa & FA cup.

If he fails to win those, then he would have achieved nothing by the time he completes his first 3 years cos you cannot win any trophy between the end of this season and December.

Did management change hands or not? Why and how they changed hands are irrelevant. The most important issue is they were changed and new ones were hired.

Mourinho/Hiddink names appearing more than once are irrelevant. The fact of the matter is there was a change and a previous manager got sacked.

One thing I’m sure about is that we need more better players. About the coach, the jury is still out. But then sacking anyhow, with this kain squad, no be the way to go.

It doesn’t matter how many times Arsenal change their coach. They’ll still be pisspoor. But give Klop that Man City squad. Or Pochettino or any half decent coach and you’ll see them make top 4 at least.

The only club that has 3 league titles in the last 4 years is City. They’re also the only team who strengthens their squad with sense every season.

If you want to compete with them, you should invest- maybe not as much as they have , but reasonably well enough.

Chelsea, who fires and hires anyhow, splashes the cash at least.

Chelsea are the most successful club in England for the past 15 years. They have hired 16 managers in that period.

Their hire & fire method is ultra-effective. I wish Roman is the owner of Man Utd. He’s a genuine football fan that wants only the best for his club.

There’s no way in hell he would have kept Ole if similar results were posted at Chelsea. Yet, over here, OleInners are literally fighting everyone to keep him in the job. The fans who want to win are being kept silent or being bullied to accept mediocrity.

I remember the term I used then was ‘cautiously optimistic’. We had a long, drawn out argument where everyone was saying we must win the league.

We can win the league if we are always on top form. However a season is full of ups and downs. Even City, they had their ups and downs.

The difference is that they can maintain their ups for longer periods and reduce the time they are down. And this is due to their coach and the depth of their squad.
