You are allowed to have whatever opinion you want about the movie but this claim that y'all didn't know the movie was going to be woke or they hid some agenda from you na fugazi.

Studio no go reveal plot twist to you for trailer just because you fit accuse them of "agenda". There was enough in the trailers to know the movie would be a feminist movie and Ken was portrayed as stupid but adorable in his promotion spots.

There are so many different levels of wokeism and you know that. Take Little Mermaid for example - it was woke but it didnt go overboard - Bro, the whole plot of the movie is effing about destroying masculinity, they werent hiding it in any way.

Let's wait and see... If Barbie is truly WOKE and inappropriate the audience will stop going to see it and it'd have negative word of mouth. This means it's second weekend at the box office would suffer a massive drop. Over 75% drops.

I actually have two youtube accounts - One is very liberal and one is conservative - so i get to see the two sides of the stories; even 30% of the left are saying it was too much not to talk of conservatives that were deceived. It has a queer character - so it wont be showing in the Middle East - Indians are already leaving the theatres in droves - Dont even say anything about the Chinese - no one there cares about Barbie

Nah, just people that wanted to complain. I've read the book and it wasn't stated clearly Corlys Velaryon race. His skin colour was never mentioned. Also no one knew much of his mom, the Velaryons was a seafaring family and met various cultures and people so he must have mingled with Black people as there's talk that his mom was from one of the islands known for dark skin.
So that's the loophole HBO worked with.
Also people who actually read the source material are the ones most likely prone to shout race swapping or other differences of some sort.


Anyways, I don't think you're getting my point clearly or you missed it.... I'm saying these WOKE complaints is usually very amplified and gains traction on "poorly written projects". Projects that have great writing mostly find a way to quiet the anti WOKE crowd.
Eg, The Last of Us, The Sandman, HOTD, Interview With The Vampire.

All the Series you mentioned are not 'woke' enough. Look at Snow White - even though it has the best writing and screenplayed by Greta, it is too woke not to ignore.

There are lots of things that affect people going to cinemas...

The cinema culture has been on a downward trend even abroad...

It's not just money, but time, stress, convenience etc

I didn't see Avatar 2 despite wanting to see it so badly because of convenience...
The movie came out during festive period when most cinemas are stacked full which leads to waiting in long queues for hours...

Add time in traffic in Lagos since the cinemas aren't that close to my house, and also the fact that the people I could have seen it with also have a busy schedule...

Like I said there are many factors to consider before spending hours to go watch a movie...

Even saw some posts on Reddit where people complained about the stress and inconvenience of spending 7 hours on the road, queues, etc instead of waiting to watch it on a streaming service at home

Personally anytime I think about the stress of going to cinemas to watch a movie, I get a rethink...since the closest to my house is always pretty crowded...
I only go when I want to watch with some people

Exactly, i couldnt watch the Way of Water because the queues were so long in FilmHouse Cinemas and I wanted to watch it on iMax. I just decide not to again. The stress is too much esp if you're going alone

Look at how HOTD handled it well. How many people are shouting WOKE and all that nonsense with the Velaryons being Black?? If woke shït is so good, they hardly have little to nothing to rant about especially when it's HBO.

I dont see anything wrong with making the Little Mermaid black (even though it was still a bad movie) but what most people are against is why Disney felt it was necessary to do so; they had no real ideas but decided to come up with an excuse to make the movie as bleeped up as possible.
Btw, the only people who complained about the Velaryons being black are people who have actually read the book which is not a lot so it wont gain enough tractions plus it is not as bad as the others

Like i said before, Barbie is a feminist already; the movie was just straight out scary - it was too much bro; the end of the movie was so stupid - I thought this feminists were asking for equality (which is stupid in its own way) but now their agenda is to tell everyone masculinity is bad, men are evil and women should be in control.
Also, the feminist angle wasn't mentioned at all in the ads there were displaying everywhere - they hid it till the end - everyone thought the movie would be a fun movie, who would have thought Ken was just stupid and had no sense (everyone always thought Ken was Barbie's girlfriend). In the movie, all the Barbies had a Ken and they werent love interests - then what were they- slaves or what? The fact that a guy would come out of that movie and say great movie is so absurd and shows how we all have grown without thinking straight

I don't watch movies for action by the way, like I always say, I love movies for great cinematography, dialogue and comedy, and you really can't convince anyone that the Flash has any of that - bland CGI everywhere, I don't think the actor's whole body had enough screen time, bad and cliche jokes by equally a bad actor and they were two of them! Can you imagine.

With the way Barbie and Oppenheimer are trending, they could be making bank like Super Mario mostly Barbie

I've always known I can't depend on some major mainstream media outlets to report the truth when it comes to certain topics. Similar to how most critic's movie reviews can't always be trusted. When advancing an agenda, they ditch credibility. I've read enough reviews on Facebook and observed audience feedback to conclude that this is a quality film.

When I read the comments under that CNN video, I simply thought that everything seemed a little strange. The speaker in attendance makes the claim that the film uses excessively exaggerated statistics and feeds conspiracy theories. He explains to the anchor that they attempt to make child sex trafficking appear more widespread than it actually is. Isn't one child already too many, one might then ask.

Let's then explore the QAnon hoax. What do its adherents claim that is so absurd and unbelievable? It's just a theory that there is a sizable underground child trafficking ring, many elites are involved in it and that children are used for all sorts of things. Why won't so many people believe it after what happened with Jeffery Epstein? Remember they told us that Epstein was part of a larger child trafficking ring and many of his associates have not been apprehended.

I'm just happy that people are showing up to support the project; the box office results are fantastic. The protection of children is the issue here, not left wing or right wing. Parents with kids who aspire to be famous in Hollywood should keep a close eye on those kids. Promises are what pedophiles in high places use to lure kids.

You should listen to the Tucker Carlson and Tate's interview, it's just so amazing.
I once saw myself as a Democrat/Liberal but after the covid incident and the war in Ukraine stuff I just found myself listening to both ends of the spectrum to get a firm view on things - both Fox and CNN and I realised how blinded by the mass media I was. If you want to get a firm view on politics and moral don't just listen to one side of the story, listen to CNN, Candace Owens, Don Lemon, The blabber VP of the United States, Shapiro, The Daily Wire and the rest just to know where your morals stand 🤷‍♂️

But I'm just curious, did they at least manage to point out a few plot holes or a problem with the script? I ask because trying to discredit a film that examines the issue of child trafficking and is based on real events is not a good look for anyone.

No plot holes whatsoever, yo the movie even has a 100% audience approval rating in rotten tomatoes after 10,000 ratings. They just called it a Qnon conspiracy - a movie about child sex trafficking 🤦🏽‍♂️, it was the same Rolling Stones that called the Netflix movie 'Cuties' a misunderstood movie, movie were 7 year old girls were touching themselves sexually 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

While browsing YouTube reels, I came across a video of a CNN anchor and a guest criticizing the movie, but I haven't seen it yet. I was unable to locate it under showtime, I'll have to wait till this one hits the high seas. I have since read about
QAnon and related topics. The left wing has worked very hard to connect the movie to conspiracies and discredit its message; some of those people have seriously lost it.

Rolling Stones and leftist magazines helped promote the movie by calling it a movie for dad with brain worms.
