Bruh😪😪

These developers have no idea what beauty looks like.
The colour green is not a good colour for a website in this day and age, I don't know what Seun is afraid of, maybe if he changes the design, we won't recognise Nairaland or what😭😂

Better call Saul Cinematography and the need for less generic Nollywood movies

I just recently finished the series Better call Saul and after honestly rating it as one of my top 5 series of all times, the question on my mind is when will Nollywood ever invest in its cinematography to tell stunning visual stories?

During my years of watching Nollywood movies, mostly forced on me by the media and peers, I have never watched a Nollywood movie where I'm amazed by the beautiful scenery or stunned or confused by how the hell they could figure out a camera angle or an unusual camera dolly or pan, most of Nollywood movies 90% don't even move the camera at all, just drop the camera at a spot and sleep on it.
Most of the opening scenes of BCS are just shots of things - normal stuff, sometimes the camera will be inside a coffee machine or the camera will be facing a mirror unknown to the viewer, there was this shot I absolutely loved and rewatched a lot of times- the scene where ants were feasting on an ice-cream brooooo! Just a simple shot with amazing sound design and music. Still wondering when Nollywood would ever do something like that.
Stories should be unique and mostly suspenseful but Nollywood movies are just usually generic the same garbage thrown at us constantly. The action is meh.
I just think visual storytelling without dialogue sometimes is integral to storytelling, the feel of a surrounding, the colour grading and camera movements are all part of storytelling
I just hope Nollywood thinks of all this in the future😪

In summary, you're saying that all the movie has to offer is it's visuals

And you're giving it 9/10 for the visuals alone
Actually no. The Action sequences are perfect and the story makes a whole lot of sense no matter how simple it seems, take Titanic for example, a very simple but compelling story. The story is pretty standard but that doesn't make it awful in any way, it made 2bil because everyone could understand the movie unlike Nolan movies. All I'm saying is what really works and distinguishes itself from the rest is the visuals.
Just like Blade Runner 2049 has its cinematography and Pulp Fiction has its dialogue, ATWOF has its visual storytelling

Most people after watching better call Saul rewatch Breaking Bad just for Gus Fring imo

try it on Samsung, not iPhone...you'll know the difference

But it's still pointless imo...
I haven't downloaded Avatar 2 yet because I like to watch movies like that on Sundays...
The version I'm gonna download will still be less than 3gb

Movie that I will never rewatch lmao grin
I can't watch the movie on my phone, only on tv or a tab, you can't enjoy it fully on a phone imo
TV/MoviesRe: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Illusioneffect(m): 9:18am On Mar 30, 2023
Just rewatched Avatar 2 - The Way of Water 1080p version it's 6gb
The thing about this movie is you can't actually enjoy it in its full capacity on tv alone. It should be watched in 3d iMAX and Dolby Atmos 360 sound, those who watched it in Cinemas like I did know what I mean
The Amazing thing about this movie is not the story telling or even the dialogue but the landscapes. This movie's every scene is just insanely beautiful, it makes you forget everything you're actually seeing is visual effects and just 10% of everything is practical. Watch the tails and eyes twitch and know none of the water in this movie is even real
I seriously don't know how James Cameron will top the visual effects in the next movie maybe he'll go more storywise.
A 9/10 movie for me

Octopusssy:
Nah. You didn't understand the movie if you think this way. You're right that is a satire: a satire about class struggle. The rich and influential are shipwrecked with the very dregs of the social hierarchy which is represented metaphorically represented by the position they occupy on the luxury yacht. Now, when everything goes south, power falls into the hands of hoi polloi, who now takes charge of food distribution. Food is life, so now their lives are in the hands of the lowly person because these rich people are completely devoid of any kind of survival skill.

Just how far can people go to retain power? That's what the end seems to be asking, although it is open to interpretation.

I absolutely loved the movie
Maybe he missed the whole point of the movie. Every scene of triangle of sadness is an artistic satire and a genuine masterpiece of storytelling. Just the scene in the restaurant where they were arguing about who to pay was masterfully edited and i had to watch that scene thrice

Keanu did say he would keep on playing JW if this 4th movie is successful but I understood the ending as setting up a spin off movie. Anyways, I’m always up for more John Wick actions.
But guy, can they actually top thishuh If they can it will be insane

I have no problem if you think different. For me, movies quality were probably better in the 90s and 2000s. But for TV shows I don't think so.

How many 90s to 2000s TV shows I can think of that can match GOT, Vikings, Homeland etc.
I can only think of The Wire and The Sopranos.

How many can you recall?
Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Lost
Malcolm in the Middle
Arrested Development
Mad Men
The Office
24
Dexter
Family Guy
Still a lot I can't process sha
The Movies are also amazing

While I agree it seems the quality of films this decade have somewhat dropped I feel the 2010s still had one of the best filmography of all time.

I mean, half my best all time films are from the 2010s. 👇👇
Shawshank Redemption
The Dark Knight
Silence of The Lambs
LOTR trilogy
The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows pt 1&2
Se7en
Pulp Fiction
Django Unchained
Joker
Parasite
The Harder They Fall
The Irishman
The Last Duel

I feel the main issue is movies from this decade — the 2020s.

But the irony of it is in my opinion when it comes to TV shows, the opposite is the case. I feel TV shows coming out in the late 2010s and this era are the best era of all time for TV shows.

I don't think TV shows of the 90s and 2000s can match the all-round quality of the 2010s.
2010s to me is the UNDISPUTED GOAT in terms of TV entertainment quality of all time.
I mean that decade gave us....

Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Homeland
Watchmen
Succession
Euphoria
True Blood
Better Call Saul
Chernobyl
The Crown
The Handmaid Tale
Orange is the New Black
Barry

I don't even want to start a roll call for the 2020s that just started:

Lovecraft Country
The White Lotus
House of The Dragon
Ted Lasso
The Gilded Age
Midnight Mass
Squid Game
Arcane
I still believe the 2010s were not in par with 90s and 00s tho best movies of all times came at those times
