“Oh you who be believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians as protecting allies [lit. awliya – plural of wali, mistranslated often here as “friends” ]! Each of them are protecting allies within their own. And the one amongst you who turns to them as protecting allies, then he is one of them. And truly, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.” [al-Quran, 5:51]

Right away, I’d like to establish that there is no problem with Muslims keeping casual friendships and cordial acquaintances with people of different faiths, as long as those people do not oppose or dislike Islam and Muslims, do not engage in or wrongly influence Muslims towards immoral behaviour, and are not unjust and oppressive to anyone, especially Muslims. This is established by the words of Allah Most High Himself when He says:

“Allah does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you due to your faith or driven you out of your homes. Allah loves those who deal justly. Allah only forbids you from those people that fought you because of your faith, drove you out of your homes and helped in your expulsion, that you take them as intimate associates. And whosoever takes them as intimate associates, then it is they who are the wrongdoers.” [al-Quran, 60:8-9]

are these in the Quran?
The Koran is claimed to be simply the words of Allah. There are collection of books called the Hadiths. They are about the life of Muhammad. Their two trusted sources are Sahil Bukhari and Sahil Muslim. They call these ones the strong Hadiths. Then there are weak Hadiths.
They call them weak because many things in them are just too plain embarrassing to even attribute it to their prophet. So they shelve these Hadiths in a corner and call them weak (meaning they can't be trusted).

Wow is this true? Any Muslim brother in the house pls
Muslims are taught to defend Muhammad to the last. So truth is, they do not see anything wrong in his actions. He is like their Moral judge. As long as Muhammad did it, it is right! So truth is, they do not see anything wrong with the above claims. So you will get anyone of the following.
1. Muslims who are truthful and know these claims do not paint Islam in a good way. These ones will avoid this thread and make no comment. Because they know you are right, but too deep in their religion to have a rethink.
2. Muslims who are blinded by their faith but know nothing about their religion and only believes what their Imams tell them. So what will they do? Attack you and not the OP you raised. Call you a liar, call you ignorant, claim you know nothing about Islam and generally derail the thread.
3. Muslims who are blinded by their faith and actually know a lot about religion. These ones are the worst. When they come here, they will defend every action of Muhammad. I watched a guy on YouTube who actually claimed Muhammad marrying 11 wives was a good thing because all of them except Aisha (who was married at six and sex at nine) were actually widows. So he married them because these women had no one to take care of them. Looking at it from that point you might actually believe him and see Muhammad as a good man, until you realize that one of these women had her husband and father killed by Muhammad. Another was the wife of his own adopted son. And when people started to raise alarm that he had married the wife of an adopted son, Muhammad receives a revelation from Allah, banning adoption in Islam. How convenient that just when you Marry the wife of an adopted son, adoption becomes a taboo so it no longer looks like he married the wife of his son but instead the wife of another random guy. So you see, these set of people will come here and spin it like its a good thing Muhammad did. They actually believe his actions are moral and right. If Muhammad did it, it must be right and these are the most dangerous set of Muslims. I recall having a discussion with one of them recently and he was so convinced that Men are superior to women and that Beating of your wife is not wrong. Can you imagine what the wife of such a person will go through?
I know you opened this thread for knowledge but my bro, you will only get this knowledge from Christians who will tell you the truth about Islam.

Koran 5:51. O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.

So you are not even supposed to be my friend or a business partner or anything of that sought.
And did you say anyone is allowed in the Kaaba? So if you go to Mecca and ask to pray in the Kaaba, they will let you in free of charge
So finally are you saying the Shiites are not Muslims?

You can know about the religion from what you heard from people. Read the Quran and the Hadith. any language of your choice. Use google if needed and you will see their is nothing attached to terrorism in it. The man who created the First World War was a christain but that still doesn't defined Christianity . KKK's are Christians what are you gonna say about them. It's abvious we have the class of 1996/1997 here. I wish you were born in the 1980's but you can still ask your uncles. You don't know how peaceful the environment was during 1990's.
Funny. I never mentioned anything on terrorism in my quote. You are the one bringing it up now. I only asked, who are those allowed to enter the Kaaba? And why are shites in Iran banned from the Hajj?
Now to terrorism since you brought it up. I do not judge any religion by the actions of people. I judge it by the teachings. The Koran says you should not be friends with us and we should find in you hardness. I can give you many quotes from the Koran. So maybe these people are just obeying the Koran?

The Kaaba,! Huge some of people worship here every day! With this much crowd. Different people, different color, different ethnic, different country, no pride, no ego, you can stand next to someone, rich or poor, tall or young, crippled or not, blind or not, anyone as long as you are human and acting normal as one. You are welcome to worship. This has been happening for decades. Still some people still see the religion as a bad one.

How old is Boko haram, ISIS, and others? How many cases of bomb blast can we recall during 1990-1995 that has to do with terrorism? During that time Muslims exist.
Ah! You mean the pagan temple that had many small gods around it, which was transformed to a Muslim temple? Quick question. Everyone can stand beside each other! Good. But how many people can enter the Kaaba? Plus I heard Iranians (Shiite majority) have been banned from going to hajj. Are they not "equal" too?

If the doctor was an atheist, I would still call him delusional.

The doctor spoke in tongues to get rid of the ghost!

Bros. The doctor should come clean and say he was hallucinating as a result of tiredness and tried from losing the patient- I say this because that is what he would diagnose a patient for if a patient told him such a story
As a Christian, your defence is prayer. He saw something and prayed. It all boils down to his faith. That doesn't make him a bad Doctor. Whether it is hallucination or not. He saw what he saw.

What if he sees one of his patients as the devil while operating on the patient? Wouldnt he abandon the patient to die?

From the original post, he clearly stated he did not believe in ghosts, so you can't day that one incident makes him delusional and superstitious? You are only saying that because he is a Christian. What kind of foolish doctor is this? Is that what he will tell the family of the patient? "I saw the ghost of your family member"!

I am scared of a doctor who sees ghosts up and down. Imagine if he sees a ghost while operating on you? No be die be that?

This is what religion has done to our country (the doctor is a christian that speaks in tongues)- educated but still ignorant and superstitious. I am even suspecting that the doctor was having a hallucination from substance abuse.

Some brainwashed Christians will come here to say this is an attack on the church.

This is not an attack on the church but an attack on those who are trying to hijack the body of Christ. The season we are in is the season God is exposing them. That's why we hear of their sex scandals and the likes. The sad part is that, instead of Christians to see the happenings as a warning for them to flee from the fold of these false prophets, they stupidly remain there and even defend them. In doing so, they have called Yahshua the Messiah a liar. If He said there will be false prophets and wolves in sheep clothing, and you guys are not looking out for the signs of such people, especially when it is glaring, then it means you didn't believe his words. Well, when His anger falls on such men, you fools will partake in it cos you chose to pitch your tent with them instead of being His sheep.
My brother, I honestly believe salvation is personal. My salvation isn't tied to any pastor whatsoever. So if they all want to be fake, they can be fake. Of course there are false prophets! No dispute! But how do you know them? You can't judge them for wearing Vasace! Even the true prophets will go thought trials, so sex scandal is not proof that anyone is false. Even Jesus was doubted and so was apostle Paul. My advise is this. Serve your God. Work out your salvation. And leave the judging for God. He knows who is real and who's fake. You need to spend less time and energy attacking our own. Redirect your strength to the obvious enemies of the church.

Yeah, Analice is closed minded, Analice is myopic. Analice is stupid for believing in a none existing God, What else?

Someone told me that closed mindedness is when you refuse to shift abit and give room to someone with another idea (irrespective of how ridiculous) alien from yours to take a seat by you, and pitch his/her ideas against yours, insisting that you give up on yours and take up their own.

Closed mindedness is when you accept to give up your own views and accept another person's.

Although, the person has his, and wouldn't allow you space into, but want to you to meet him in the middle of your own space, not his.

You are open minded, but will not consider any of my idea as reasonable and viable, only yours.

You are open minded yet, my Christian ideas are stupid, and only your atheistic views makes sense.

You say God doesn't exist, but you won't give it a rest. You keep bantering and insulting the God who doesn't exist. And that makes soo much sense to you.

When it comes to you recognising him as God, he doesn't exists, but when there's a calamity, you hold him responsible, yet he doesn't exist.

You sleep in the religion section trying to dispute everything that concerns godliness, yet he doesn't exist.

If you have any solid proof that God indeed doesn't exist and i refuse to go with you, you can then call me close minded, but you have no idea of what you are talking about, yet you want me to come and join you and disbelieve.

Another thing is, it's evident that your problem is not that there's no God at all, your problem is against Yahweh and Jesus, because, you take sides with Muslims against Christians, forgetting that they believe in God too, you take sides with Artemis and other Greek gods against the God of the Jews and Christians, forgetting they are gods too.

You take sides with witches and wizards, forgetting they are supernatural too.

See why you don't appear reasonable for me to take seriously.

Myopia as far as you are concern is when i take a stand and remain resolute on what my Bible tells me, even when i see clearly what is prevalent in my society as being afore time prophesied.

You are open minded, but your open mindedness seems stupid to me.

Fortunately, your opinion of me doesn't count even in your own head.

Religion / Re: Who Created God? How Did He Come To Be? by ilynem(m): 8:37pm On May 25, 2017
LiberaDeus:

I will first present a small list of failed biblical prophecies
Genesis 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.

Here God tells Isaac that his descendents (Hebrews) will be as numerous as the stars. Considering the number of stars there are in the universe, that would have to be on the order of 1020 Jewish people.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Christians say that this verse is a prophecy of Jesus' birth to a virgin. There are a couple problems with this prophecy...First, virgin in this verse is a mistranslation of the Hebrew word "almah", which actually means "young woman". A young woman is not necessarily a virgin. "Bethulah" would have been the correct word to use if the author meant virgin. Second, nowhere in the New Testament is Jesus referred to as Immanuel.

Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Damascus is still inhabited today with over a million people, and hardly a ruinous heap.

Isaiah 19:4-5 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts. And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

The river mentioned here is the Nile. The Nile is still one of Egypt's greatest natural resource.

Isaiah 19:18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

The Canaanite language has never been spoken in Egypt, and is now an extinct.

Isaiah 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

There are uncircumcised people living in Jerusalem even today.

Ezekiel 29:10-11 Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia. No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.

Never in its long history has Egypt ever been uninhabited for forty years.

Amos 9:15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.

Many times, Jews have been pulled up out of their land. The ownership of their land is still being fought for.

Jonah 3:4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

Nineveh was never overthrown. Why? Because God changed his mind in verse 3:10, despite what Malachi 3:6, Numbers 23:19 and Ezekiel 24:14 says about God never changing his mind.

Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Zechariah 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.

Christians say that this prophecy is was fulfilled when Judas received 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus. Matthew 27:9 recites this verse, but incorrectly credits Jeremiah with the prophecy.

Matthew 1:22-23 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Again, Jesus is never referred to as Emmanuel (Immanuel).

Matthew 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

Nowhere in the Old Testament is such a prophecy found, so how could such a one be fulfilled?

Matthew 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

There is no passage in the Old Testament that can be attributed to what Jesus is saying here.

Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Jesus states that all the signs marking the end of the world in Matthew 24 would be fulfilled before his generation ended. That generation ended 2000 years ago, and the world has not come to an end, neither has all those signs been fulfilled.

Matthew 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value.

This prophecy was never spoken by Jeremiah.

Matthew 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Jesus tells the high priest that he would see his second coming. The high priest is long dead, and Jesus hasn't returned yet.

Throughout the New Testament, the end of the world is prophesied as being very near, at hand, to be witnessed by those living at the time. Paul often told the people he preached to that they would be witnesses to Jesus' second coming. They are all long gone.

Let me face your points

The bible never condemned slavery but just regulated it. Show me just one verse in the bible that condemns slavery. I am 100% sure that you wont find it.

Bethulah means virgin and thats the word used in the bible to portray virgin.
OK sir. Sorry I took too long. How's work? I had a little work too myself and mine had a deadline so I had to finish it up. So let's begin from the very first. But before then, note that not all prophesies have BEEN fulfilled. As long as we are still on earth and the world hasn't ended, we can't just tick them off as unfulfilled. But a large number has been fulfilled already. So let's go.
1. Making Abraham's children like the starts in the sky. I personally think this should not be taken literally. God says Abraham's Children (Abraham apparently had only Isaac and Ismael) will be like the starts in the sky. No one tool the "children" part literally, why are we taking the stars in the sky literally? God only meant Abraham would not be able to count his children (descendants) being in Christ, means we are all descendants of Abraham.
2. About the word virgin birth. I explained this before. Almah is not the proper word but can be used also. And it seems the Jewish scholars who translated the Bible to Greek knew what God was talking about. When they translated the old testament to Greek, they used the Greek word for virgin and young woman. This was 200 years before the birth of Jesus.
3. About Damascus being destroyed. Of course this is yet to happen. But I need you to observe recent events in Syria closely.
4. About the Nile drying up. I personally believe this is yet to be fulfilled because the the prophesy talked about a wicked king and the also the Nile DRYING up. But some people talk about the construction of the Aswan Dam and the heavy effect it had on the Nile as fulfillment. But I am personally not buying it.
5. Egypt speaking the Canaanite language. To be fair I don't know much about this. But I promise to do a little research on it later. But is the Canaanite language really extinct? It might have gone through reformation but extinct? I doubt sir. But please educate me if I am wrong.
6. The uncircumcised and unclean being in Jerusalem. I think this talks about the last day when Jerusalem becomes God's own city and Jesus governs the world from it.
7. Egypt being unhabitable. Again, this hasn't been fulfilled. We all have to be patient.
8. Jews being pulled out of their land. Erm, how many times have they been "pulled" out of their land? They have been dominated but pulled out? Of course the fact that that their land is still being fought over till date, isn't that a fulfilment of another prophesy?
9. Nineveh being overthrown. There is a difference between God changing his mind and forgiven a sinful people. If God doesn't forgive then He can't be referred to as Merciful, can He?
10. Matthew wrongfully giving Jeremiah credit for Zachariah's prophesy. This is new to me. But let us look at this critically. Who says Matthew's words was actually referring to Zachariah? Yes they are similar but are they particularly the same? Nope. If we look at Jesus quotation of old testament scriptures, you will notice two things. (1) They were quoted word for word. Just as it was written in the old testament. I mean the exact words were used by Jesus. (2). He always said "it was written". Looking at Matthew, it has already failed both tests. It wasn't quoted word for word and he said, Jeremiah " spoke". Not wrote. Why are these important? Well, Matthew didn't exactly quote Zachariah word for word so it can be argued that he wasn't reffering to that exact verse by Zachariah. Secondly, you won't find that prophesy in Jeremiah because he "spoke" and didn't write. But that's my theory though. I will do a little more search and get back to you.
11. Jesus never being referred to as Emmanuel. Emmanuel means "God with us". Jesus was literally God with us. See? And yes Thomas called Him " God".
12. Jesus called a Nazarene. Again notice the word "spoke"? You do realize that there are lots of quotes spoken by prophets that weren't written down? Because they were meant to be memorized.
13. Jesus speaking a law not in the old testament? I think you should read Numbers 28:9. And before you say they aren't word for word, Jesus wasn't exactly " quoting".
14. Jesus' signs. In Matthew 24:4–31, Jesus is clearly giving a prophecy. He is speaking of future events. Jesus had already told those living during His earthly ministry that the kingdom had been taken from them (Matthew 21:43). Therefore, it is imperative that Matthew 24–25 be seen as dealing with a future time. The generation that Jesus speaks of “not passing” until He returns is a future generation, namely, the people living when the predicted events occur. The word generation refers to the people alive in the future when the events of Matthew 24–25 take place.
15. About the high priest seeing the second coming. The high priest will still see the second coming. Because during the second coming, the dead will rise.
16. Again, they will all be witnesses because the dead will rise.
Again, I showed you the verse from paul about slaves and free people. When Jesus says, love your God and love your neighbor as your self, I think that included slaves as well, ya? And if you are to love slaves, then obviously, they shouldn't be slaves. Another thing you should know is that in Jesus time, the Jews were almost like slaves to the romans. So they themselves didn't have slaves. What they had were people who came to sell their labour for money which was perfectly normal.
Now let me ask you. How about the prophesies that have been fulfilled? Are we just going to tick them off as coincidence?

Seun:
God is the father, not the mother.
Jesus is the son, not the daughter.
The Holy Spirit is referred to as "He".

Man was created first, in the image of God. Woman was created in the image of man (chai!).
The twelve disciples of Jesus were all men. None of the many 'cherished' women following Jesus was deemed worthy to be an apostle.
No single book in the bible was written by a woman.

Women are to keep quiet in church and 'submit' to their husbands.
The Catholic church hails Mary, the mother of Christ, but she would not be allowed to serve as a priest, bishop, or pope.
Religion gives real power to men here and now. Women get nothing but empty gestures and sweet words, at best.
Sir, I think you underestimate the place of women in the Christian faith. Jesus had 12 disciples, all male. Fine. But you should understand that God limits himself within any context and culture to reach the people of a particular tribe. Jesus had female disciples! But chose 12 men to be with him. Let's imagine if Jesus was in today's society (which is not even as patriarchal as the Jewish society then). Imagine Jesus having 6 personal male followers and 6 personal female followers. Can you imagine the adultery scandals that would be flying about?? Luke 8:1-3 proves that there were always women travelling with Jesus, not just His personal male followers.
Also one of the basics of our faith is in the resurrection of Christ. Women were the first to carry this testimony to the world. We are actually Christians because of the testimony of women.
Finally in the case of women "submitting" to their husbands. No woman is a lesser human being that any man according to my faith. But in the context of marriage, the role of women is to submit to their husbands who's role is to act as the head of the home. It doesn't make them a lesser human being. It is just creates orderliness in the home.
