listen to your pompous opinionated self...you don't care if I'm from Mars or Heaven yet you want me to buy your opinion. Isn't that bigotry enough.

Look, I don't give a Jupiter's cöck who or what you are. If you so much think that your opinion is the best, you can go pass the bill yourself. You ask for a solution and I proffered one, there have been suggestion of ranches and you think that isn't good enough. This so called herdsmen are the ones roaming brandishing about with sophisticated assault riffles Ak47 yet you don't see nothing wrong with that.

You say this people don't have a place nor land yet one of their kind is our current president, you want to tell me he got their by magic without a constituency or local government area.

When they start implementation of the project and they throw you the crumbs just like they did with the CBN and Police jobs... Let me know.
i don't care, not because i'm pompous but because your tribe or my tribe, religion or political parties have nothing to do with the discussion. You're telling me your tribe to prove/show you have no bias, yet your next and quoted post proves the opposite.
You've not proffered any solution for two reasons. One, ranches are captured already under the bill. Two, your grouse with the grazing routes is not removed with ranches. Ranches can be in ANY part of the country as well.
There's something wrong with violence, violent behavior and words, nobody disagreed on that. How you come to such a shallow conclusion that i don't see anything wrong leaves much to be desired.
By the way, the President is not an herdsman. i specifically referred to herdsmen, not to tribes or geopolitical zones. Use and apply your education please. Awkward lazy stereotyping of people isn't a show of intelligence but an indication of lack of exposure and poverty.

What did he say about it? Please include reference(s)

When it comes from him it carries weight. He's the president and commander-in-chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces. A strongly worded statement is something you say to someone when he's misbehaving with the intent to provoke change. It said such a way that the recipient(s) knows you mean what you said. It's clear and leaves no room for ambiguity.

Did bill leave you with the impression that the FG will negotiate with the Land Owners and pay whatever price agreed? Does it leave room for the owner to decide not to sell?
i clearly remember the Presidency's reactions to the events on the news then and on social media like Twitter and Facebook where Shehu and co engages. Using Google now though, could come up with one or two links.
“We will act immediately.
“We will conduct an investigation to know exactly
what happened. The only way to bring an end to
the violence once and for all is to look beyond
one incident and ascertain exactly what factors
are behind the conflicts,” he said.
President Buhari stressed that all Nigerians must
learn to live together as one, in peace and unity.

It's after this that both police and military have been deployed to site and several arrests made. Note the facts of denials too from the herdsmen. The herdsmen say it's not them but cattle rustlers etc. Its certainly not an act of impunity against the government or community like the case of boko haram or pipeline vandals or those Shite boys or Nnamdi Kanu. Why they should be treated like boko haram is sentimental, let's be practical and reasonable.

i don't care if you are from heaven or planet mars, i just need us to discuss intelligently and constructively instead of cheap and baseless criticisms. Herdsmen are all over Nigeria, they have no place of their own and hardly need one. They are nomads. So its not of question of THEIR land, they have NO land, whether in the North or South. However, we all use their services as Nigerians. All those cows they love to lead, no be them get am. It is people like you and me mostly, doing business with it. Also, they have been going about their nomadic life all over the country for ages, it did not start last month. It is their reoccuring problem of grazing on people's property that we are trying to solve. i think the FG has proposed a good solution. Putting tribal paintings to criticize it does not help anyone or solve the problems. When they start doing landscaping and giving contracts for importing grass and maintaining grass, employing FG paid gardners and tax xollectors and whatever other jobs come out of the scheme, you will be among those praying and submitting CVs of known people. You would not say keep it in one part of Nigeria. SELFISH interest and shallow mindedness beclouds most of us thinking.

I bought 5 plots and the rest was on lease. why was I not given free land? Why will taxpayers money be used for peoples private businesses? What value will my land as grazing field add to my community & state?? Arrant nonsense.
It's a National issue because it hurts the nation when these people begin to kill people and graze on other's farmlands all over the country. Your land is not been taken, it is been bought just like FG or State govt buys it if they need it for any other purpose. And your land may not even be affected BTW. When the land is acquired if there is need to(because govt also has land, it is where they need to buy that they will buy), it becomes Government property, not private business. When your land is bought and paid for by the government, it is no more yours. You can use the money as you please, don't give yourself headache about thew value government would use the land for. Abi they no go pay you?

Ofcourse, they are not all guilty. I already stated how it could be knocked off. Once it's made clear in words and action that the era of impunity is over, they'll chill. They need know Nigeria values humans more than cows. And that violent actions will incur grave consequences. They are the ones that should make the adjustment not Nigeria. Can't they do their business in peace and where they are conflicts engage dialogue?

P.S. The arrests should continue but they shouldn't stop there. Prosecution should follow. If they had be doing this it won't have gotten this bad.
i also hope that arrests and prosecutions continue of all unlawful people fomenting trouble in various parts of the country. You refer to knocking off feelings of entitlement by words? i do not think words are enough. They have been talking to these people for as long as i can remember. Even, i do not know how true the account is, but i heard that Buhari himself was involved in some dispute settling for them in Oyo State some years back. Anyone who knows these people know that they do not reason like us all and they are not learned. Some will even say that they behave and live like animals. You can't apply the same solutions to such people as you would apply to learned people. And of course you don't just go shooting them all or arresting them all. It's a live and let live situation, and the approach proposed by the FG is very good. Talk to them and ACT by provision of paths or grazing areas where they should use. These areas will be paid for, not snatched from anybody. It becomes Federal property and creates jobs of course. The herdsmen are easily monitored that way, and the line of defaulting is CLEARER.

Is cattle rearing a National business or a personal business? Is there anything like Nigeria National Cattle which we all know that the proceeds belongs to the government? Why is the FG trying to skin the south to fleece and cater for the North? Since you are now the spokesman and defendant of the FG is that fairhuh Am a farmer and I know the pains of cows eating my farm produce!
Is transportation necessarily a national business before government build roads? The proposed plan of having grazing areas brings form and order to the way cows and animals are herded up and down from roads to farmlands. It also givesd opportunity for government to register and tax these people, as it is sure that they will be paying dues for grazing. This also removes the issue of grazing on people's farmlands which has been a reoccuring issue. No part of the country is being skinned. In fact, if any part of the country is left out, they will be the ones crying about marginalisation and been left out.

I wish u and ur family what happened to Agatu people..... n if u love this country n ur Fulani brothers as you claimed, advice buhari n his cohorts to tell his kinsmen to get a ranch by themselves, with their personal fund if not.......
Calm down, the FG is not seizing lands but buying them. Government does that everytime when your land interfere with their business like roads, power lines, railway etc and now grazing land. Certainly government will collect monies for grazing, its revenue and planning. Turning it to tribal issues is uncalled for.

The solution is to knock off any feeling of entitlement they may have. The bad behaviour stems from the fact that they know they can misbehave and get away with it. The average Nigerian Citizen doesn't have a right to carry guns or dangerous weapons. Why should they (Herdsmen) have? Pipeline vandals destroyed pipes and have been branded terrorist (rightly so). These Herdsmen destroy lives and properties why shouldn't they be called terrorists? Rather the Government wants to reward their brash acts by giving them lands they didn't buy. Are the cattle owned by the government? Are they not private ventures? I doubt they even contribute to the economy by paying taxes.

First, all dangerous weapons should be seized. Any of them caught in possession of such weapons should be arrested. Next, the president should make a strong-worded statement that any violent herdsman will be treated as a terrorist henceforth. You'll see them behave
How do you knock off feelings of entitlement? I've been reading recently that armed and guilty herdsman are arrested, they're not all guilty by the way. They've been part of us since time immemorial and we've always known that they "love" their cows. So, what's the solution?

Let it be passed and see the end of this contraption!

As long as this bill is still alive I will continue to share my findings here for all to see, Read and be Wise!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GRAZING BILL

The Bill creates a council to be chaired by a Chairman to be appointed by the president.

The council shall have the power to take your land anywhere the land is located in the country and then pay you compensation.

Your land, when taken, shall be assigned to herdsmen who shall use your land for grazing purposes. They shall bring cows to the land and you shall lose the land permanently to those Fulani cattlemen.
If you feel that the council was not right to take your land, you can go to court but before you go to court, you must first of all notify the federal attorney general of your intention to sue the council. Apart from notifying, you must get the consent and authority of the Federal Attorney General before you can sue.

So that means that if the Attorney General refuses to give his consent to the suit, you have lost your land forever to the herdsmen.

And this law, when passed, shall apply to the whole country so it means that your land in the village or anywhere is not safe.

The National Grazing Reserve Council would have the power to take away your land from you anytime they want and pay you whatever they want as compensation (even when you don't want to sell, and remember that for you to get compensation, you must have documents showing or proving ownership).

So I think that we all in the South West, South South and South East must rise up and reject this Bill. We must do all things to force our national Assembly members from passing that bill into law.

That bill is a deliberate attempt to take our lands and hand the land over to the Fulani cattlemen since it is only the fulanis that rear cattle in Nigeria.
That law, when passed, shall fulfil the directive of Uthman Dan Fodio and other northern leaders to take over other parts of Nigeria.

I implore you to use all available means to implore your senator and Rep not to pass that law.

That law will destroy Nigeria.
All over the world, ranches are established and used to rear cattle. The farmers buy land and put there cattle there. There is no country where the land of the citizens are compulsorily acquired and given to others.

This is evil, and designed to favour the Fulanis where the president comes from.
We must resist the passage of that bill into law to save Nigeria, and to protect our future generations.

Emperor Ogbonnaya
You're wrong, but it will be good to hear your solution too. It's easy to criticize anything and everything, what's your idea or plan of solution please.

Now; 1000 years ago, most of the 'educated' world, this world filled with sundry and successful people, believed the world flat. Only the educated elite knew better.

Do I need to spell my point out more clearly?
Good to note that we are communicating. Educated people in all spheres of life believe that there is God and actually believe the Bible, we are both agreed on that regardless of the excuses you may present. However, to your excuse, over 1000years ago, most of the 'educated' world didn't care if the world was a triangle or the shape of a goat.

And even at that, this is likely incorrect. It's at best, 50/50.

this is no pedantry, as you seem to have a view only of your backyard. It might be just me, but, and for obvious reasons (I hope), I think it important that people at least try and understand the world out there, and realize that their ways are not the only way to do things.

Roughly 50% of the planet is not judeoxtian.

there are, for instance, over a billion unaffiliated (including atheists, mostly thanks to china). And even at that, among the judeoxtians out there, quite a few of them will join me in wondering just how in the world supposed adults believe these things. they don't believe the bible is literal, or at least the more fantastical bits of it (which is almost all of it, I believe, so you do wonder why they remain xtian). they cherry pick what they choose to believe, it helps them resolve their cognitive dissonance to a degree. So your claim that most educated (and you have to define what you mean by educated, but meh) people believe in the bible, especially literally, is highly debatable.

that said, kudos to you and olaa for sticking with your guns and going all the way with your beliefs, unlike those pussyfooters.

or at least kudos to olaa, who perhaps grasps just how ridiculous his beliefs are, but sticks to them despite the ridicule. You, on the other hand, I get the feels is concerned with image and reputation, and seem to genuinely think you've sided with the more 'respectable' group. somehow that's important.....
My backyard counts for reality you know? Teachers, professors, brilliant students, successful people, CEOs, top level managers, Drs etc that are theists, whether christian or otherwise. That's not just in my backyard but in every part of the world. BTW, people believe the Bible who are not christians or true followers of Christ. People read the Bible, quote the Bible, copy the Bible, learn from the Bible, respect and regard the Bible etc who are not necessarily christian. They don't take your comic series the same way despite their education and other success, these are people more successful and educated than you, i'm certain you know some of them and can recall some as you read this.
That Jesus is the Son of God and that He died and rose again, there are many non-christians who believe this, and they are educated too. Expand your worldview, come out of that room you seclude yourself in.

The group was very helpful and was instrumental in President Buhari's electoral victory. They should be accorded some respect and should be given atleast a chance to air their views. If not, then this government is being hypocritical and ungrateful
The group did nothing to help Buhari. Though they indeed spoke against the previous government, that was not any other party's doing or fault. It could equally help APGA, KOWA or JP. The PDP government was irresponsible to the Chibok issue and Boko haram generally, every sane person knew that. Even young Malala was the one that had to come all the way from Pakistan to tell GEJ that Chibok girls were missing. Is that in any way APC's problem? In less than a year, the current government has met with the BBOG group severally. Even the same yesterday, they sent FG representatives led by Minister Amina Mohammed to Chibok. You were in space when Dolapo Osinbajo visited Agatu and some PDP people were saying that she came with presidential jet to give them 8bags or so of rice?

You can be grateful that a so-called man of integrity who has been at the highest levels of governance in our country since the 70s makes voluntary promises and is unable to keep them.
Your choice!
Not mine!!!

A government that is yet to spend 1year in power and yet to implement its own budget cannot reasonably be said to have failed. The past government was given its failure report card during the time of elections. Exercise some patience until such election times come before we mark scripts. A sensible teacher does not grade students who have just been 30minutes into a 2hr exam. Marking and grading is done at the end.

Dan banza is not denying that Fulani herdsmen are on rampage, he is only blaming social media for reporting it. Typical.
es·ca·late [éskə làyt]
(past and past participle es·ca·lat·ed, present participle es·ca·lat·ing, 3rd person present singular es·ca·lates)
transitive and intransitive verb
increase: to become or cause something to become greater, more serious, or more intense

He is not blaming social media for reporting it. He is saying that social media is making it more serious, more intense than it really is. Social media is indeed causing unwarranted tribal bigotry and hatred. i have fulani herdsmen that pass where i currently stay every other day. If i were to go by social media, i would have waylaid them before they waylay me. But we actually relate even. They always been around for decades and we've always known that they love their cows more than human beings. It is not Buhari's fault or something APC started like social media is painting it. It is a problem that needs to be solved with wisdom, not with brute force or hatred or bigotry or political propaganda.

What nonsense is he saying? Fulanis are killing innocent people you are blaming social media! Or is it because your boss is a fulani and you think criticising the fulanis is equal to criticising ur boss.
Escalate means increase: to become or cause something to become greater, more serious, or more intense
He is not blaming Fulani actions on social media. He is saying that social media is hyping it, increasing it, exaggerating and expanding it. It makes the problem more difficult to solve.
