p1jiobi: U are so stuppppid that u can't realise that conceding defeat doesn't preclude one form going to court. Rmbr that d terrorist who is now president elect obvioulsy lost three elections in nigeria and not once was he galant enough to concede defeat, but rather made inciting comments that led to d death of thousands of Nigerians, the blood of those Nigerians he shed tru his comments will haunt him and idiots like u who come here to advertise ignorance. GEJ is my man of d year, a tru democrat, a honourable man, unlike our terrorist maradona predident who swore not to contest elections again, GEJ is a man of his words, he has kept his words. GEJ I hail u, I hope history rembrs for who u truly are. I will surely miss u.
What inciting comments did he make that led to death? Do you have real proof, like a video or audio.
i sincerely hope that President Jonathan doesn't suffer depression or suicide. i don't see him having much say in PDP. The wisest thing for him is to retire quietly and draw close to God.
chronique: Yes,America has oil. Their oil reserves is more than ours. Their's is called shale oil,and it's currently cheaper than crude oil. They have actually cut down their oil imports from around the world, and have stopped buying Nigeria's crude oil. The production of shale oil in America, has affected the price of crude oil in the international market. Hence, the drop in price of a barrel of crude oil. Saudi Arabia,a member of OPEC,aint even helping matters by increasing pump output. This altogether makes the supply of crude in the market excess as compared to demand. Member countries of Opec, have been calling for a reduction in barrels produced daily so as to stabilize price but the Saudi's aren't in support of it. There's a lot of politicking going on in the oil market. If the price of oil would go up,Nigeria would be used as a scapegoat in achieving that. If Buhari wins and the militants decide to shut down oil production, price of a barrel of oil is definitely going to climb up back. It's an indirect way of cutting output from Opec. The election in Nigeria this year,is important to the international world. A post election crisis that affects our oil output, would be of immense benefit to other countries.
We cannot remain in fear of what militants and terrorists will do or not do. We need a leadership that would stop empowering militants and miscreants.
chuna1985: Nigeria economy has been in shambles even before GEJ became a governor in Nigeria so that's not a point.
Goodluck Jonathan has been in the corridors of power as far back as 2003. That is 12years now, about 22% of Nigeria's independent history. How long more
darlenese: I listen to the message but I could hardly hear him, this man is Old, whenever he's giving a speech I think some1 shld help to interprete what he's saying
i understand that you benefit from the current government through youwin but please don't let self interest blind you or deafen you. You're not the first set of people to win a lottery or obtain a loan.
babestella: I listened to her explanation and she is so on point. The loan is repayable within 25 years and has an interest rate of 4% which according to her is the best around coming from the African Development Bank. On a final note, it's better to borrow this money than draw from your reserve besides the money was borrowed for a good reason. So don't kill her just yet.
Please help a brother out, what is the good reason why we are borrowing over 400billion naira?
idumuose: I have been busy working assiduously to help Jonathan actulize his bid to be re-elected.The die is cast.Buhari and his fake pastor will end up losing as usual.
Amen!
Hope you're not among those guys at ejigbo and oshodi just earlier? he he he he.
chronique: What's all these nonsense you guys are screaming about? Is there a country in the world that doesn't borrow?
America's debt profile is 17 trillion dollars with a foreign reserve of 129 billion,Britain's debt profile is 9.5 trillion dollars with a foreign reserve of 139 billion,China's debt profile is 3.8 trillion dollars with a foreign reserve of almost 4 trillion dollars. Nigeria's debt profile is 47 billion dollars with a foreign reserves of 32 billion dollars. Out of this 47 billion,9 billion makes up our external debt, which is about 5.5 billion up from 2005 when NOI left the Obasanjo govt. When she left, domestic debt was around 14 billion dollars. As at now,the federal govt owes about 6 billion of the external debt while the state governments owe the remaining 3 billion.
Our debt to GDP ratio is 12.51 percent, which is much lower than the 26 percent benchmark set by international standards for countries in our category. So what's all the big noise about? That being said,I know it's not a yardstick for us to keep accumulating debts but these debts come in different packages via bonds and treasury bills and some of them are being used to control money supply in the economy so as to reduce inflation, amongst other things.
The way Nigerians react to issues bothering on economics at times, could be so embarrassing. Most Nigerians act like we're the only nation in the world that borrows money. You guys should try and update yourselves on certain issues at times before debating on them.
Those countries you mentioned have concrete things to show for their debts. Ask the banks, Dangote owes them money. It would be folly for any poor lazy man to compare himself to Dangote as co-debtor.
Marchman: Vice Presidential candidate of the APC has a terrible past that claimed the lives of many kids in the Pfizer/Kano State Government Meningitis story. Not to mention the sums involved.
Boy! I am stunned.
will try getting the video on youtube. Is this the Change they are clamoring for? cry cry cry
Okay, i've seen the about 15minute video by a particular "Association for the moral Cause". i cannot vouch for the authenticity of the materials in the video but here is what it is about anyway. It talks about Kano State and a meningitis outbreak in 1996. It says Pfizer pharmaceuticals dosed about 100 children with a particular drug for the sickness. So Kano State government and the FG filed $7billion litigations against Pfizer about something to do with the drugs not being approved but experimental to which Pfizer denied complicity. The video says a SimmonsCooper partners law firm was responsible to help the government and that Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is a senior partner in the firm. We are not told when the trial took place, but we are told that there was out of court SETTLEMENT between Pfizer and the Government. The settlement according to the video is as follows, $75million for the Kano State government and $35million for the direct victims. The victims were to come with proof which include bed ticket, hospital receipt and a wristband given to the said children, or they subject themselves to a DNA test to prove eligibility/link and get their compensation money. The video says that many of the victims fear what a DNA test might do to them and are unwilling to take part. $175,000 were paid to each family that met the requirements according to the video. Now, to be fair and to weigh the two contesting parties APC(Buhari/Osinbajo) and PDP(President Jonathan/Sambo). Anyone who knows anything about law knows about OUT OF COURT SETTLEMENTS. i do not really know what judgement the "Association for the moral Cause" or any of their sympathizers want for Pfizer. What i know and would mention(though there are other cases) is that President Jonathan/Sambo are heading an administration that just last year was responsible for the needless death of about 15 job seekers in the Nigerian Immigrations saga. This was a recruitment exercise that saw about 700,000 job seekers pay 1,000naira each to the government. that is 700million naira gained by the government. Well, nobody was sacked or jailed for the deaths and it was just this month that President Jonathan gave the families 75million naira(5million naira each) and three jobs for each family for those eligible. The "Association for the moral Cause" has not finished releasing videos in my own estimate, they should be fair and release for the two parties, that is what morality is about.
Gombs: Weirdly so. It bothers on an event scam that involved Pfizer/ Kano State Government and Osinbajo's firm, during the 1996 Meningitis wahala.
Things went bad, and $35million was alleged pocketed by Osinbanjo's firm, to be mute on the Pfizer medical blunder (something like that...was working and couldn't pay full attention).
A lot of kids and young adults died as a result. The case was presented to president Yaradua, and he refused being involved as he described the money as blood money.... Emm, I should have the link soon enough. You'd get the full gist there.
How you dey na?
Alrighty, thanks. i dey oh,doing great. Again, thank you.
Gombs: Vice Presidential candidate of the APC has a terrible past that claimed the lives of many kids in the Pfizer/Kano State Government Meningitis story. Not to mention the sums involved.
Boy! I am stunned.
will try getting the video on youtube. Is this the Change they are clamoring for?
It appears only Gombs and Jorussia have watched the 'documentary'. Kindly tell us the things they said about Osinbajo. Thanks.
Unfortunately, President Jonathan's achievements and campaign rests on doctored pictures, nonexistent issues and ridiculous slander. Everything is just so wrong with the current administration.
Flets: How do we avoid the impending dangers to Nigeria’s economy and existence under a Buhari presidency? We must need to face reality as there is no magic in governance. Extremely hard times lies ahead for this country if Buhari ever emerges victorious.
How do you explain to a Niger Deltan that despite GEJ's achievements in almost all sectors, roads, bridges, railways, agriculture, automobile, alamajiri schools, new universities, fertilizer and ghost worker scam elimination, freedom of press, FOI, free and fair elections, power sector. .........etc, he is still booted out.
What will stop the creeks from going haywire again? Buhari will send the troops to the creeks and together they will set the oil facilities ablaze. OBJ's use of JTF force could not help as no Oil producing company will risk producing crude and killing staff in a volatile region. GEJ under Yaradua had to get down to the creeks to to talk to these boys and effect the amnesty program because they found him as a representation in government.
It will be impossible to convince a ND minority albeit a militant that their own was not persecuted out of office. And that will be the theme of their new struggle. The long term solution to this mess is implementing the Confab report and enthroning true federalism.
A lot of opportunities are springing up around Africa and the IOCs are already geared towards investing in these newer and saner climes than invest in an unstable Niger delta . And while these troubles persists, the oil producing companies will simply withdraw their personnel from the volatile region and all foreign investments will seize in all sectors.
Unfortunately, even if the Nigerian troops kill 90% of the militants, it will take just one militant, a dynamite and just one strategic location along the multi- kilometer trunk lines to continue to wreck havoc to the Nigerian economy.
Fast forward to 2019, if we remain one country and without a civil war,, we will be an economic wreck with no allocations and salaries, no capital projects, no hope with dollar exchanging for 400 naira and we are worse off than we were in 2015.
Cos the truth is that without crude proceeds for now, Nigeria is finished.
And then, we'll be screaming another 'Change' because we would have learnt a bitter lesson in the hands of the Fulanis, Tinubu and Saraki. And then we will ask.... Why were we this silly?
And before you quote me, make sure you outline in clear terms how you or Buhari will avert this obvious calamity staring us in the face Only last week, they creek boys seem to have resumed activities by kidnapping at Yoho facility operated by Exxonmobil and have shut in 80KBD already. Are we ready for this for the next 4 years?
The entire world stands to benefit from a crisis in the Niger delta. Its not a coincidence that USA who abandoned us at the height of bokoharam is busy shouting for change in govt . Crises in the ND will reduce supply of crude to the Oil market and that would drive up the price of crude for producing countries.... But at Nigeria's expense.
Is Buhari is any way a better Democratic president than GEJ? Is this risk worth it?
mekaboy: Can Nigerians pay the price of a new administration?
Of course YES, that is the beauty of democracy. We are not Gambia, Ethiopia or Cameroun where they have there presidents ruling them for more than ten to twenty years.
The current situation of Nigeria now is like a plane that has a leakage in the fuel tank while it’s in the air heading to its destination. If this plane is managed, it can get to a fuel station in another country where it can refill and move on.
Bringing in a new govt now is like bringing in an inexperienced pilot who will turn off the engine of the plane in the air, hoping to save fuel while the plane floats to its destination. We all know what will happen. For those that don’t know the plane will simply crash and all the passengers might die. I am sure you are thinking those that turned off the engine will die as well. Well you are wrong, they all have their parachutes, ready to jump out of the plane and float to safety. They are all wealthy and have all benefited from corrupt administrations.
Many people believe that once corrupt politicians manage to install buhari as president of a democratic govt, corruption will end. That could be true to some extent. But the problem of Nigeria at the moment goes beyond fighting corruption. It requires a lot of experience and planning, which buhari lacks.
Duh, millions of Nigerians are the ones going to vote for Buhari as president of a democratic govt, don't get it twisted. Lol, if Buhari lacks experience, then who has experience?
Don’t see this as an attack on buhari or any party; this is just the honest analysis of what Nigerians should expect.
THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN IF BUHARI WINS
1, the stock market will crash totally as investors will pullout to understand the policies of the new administration. The election panic is already affecting the market negatively.
Is that the way investors have been pulling out at every change of government all over the world, or this is just in your nightmare?
2, massive looting:- both pdp and apc politicians in power will want to clean out the treasury and destroy evidence. A lot of last minute contracts will be awarded.
Since the new govt won’t be sworn in till may 29th, this will give room for looting. I am sure most of you will say, once buhari comes in they will all go to jail.
Don’t forget pdp and apc members are all involved and buhari is known to protect his own. You can see this in the case of abacha and bokoharam. Also, this is a democratic govt, buhari can’t jail anyone without the courts convicting them with evidence.
Oh so, there will be massive looting and cleaning out of the treasury under President Jonathan's watch before May 29? That shows how incompetent, passive and unpatriotic he is, i cannot vote for such a leader.
3, exchange rate will skyrocket: - the naira is weakened due to the falling oil prices, as investors pullout their funds, there will be scarcity of foreign currency. A lot of people will save their money in dollars, others will horde the dollars. This will lead to scarcity, a dollar might sell for 3-N400.
Voodoo economics or still your nightmares, which one? So Buhari is this powerful in your dreams?
4, while they are waiting for may 29th, a lot of issues of who is appointed what position causes problems in apc. When the new govt finally comes in, appointments take place, then the trial and errors of appointees begin .
Reshuffling of cabinet starts, while all this is taking place. The Nigerian plane is going down. A lot of uncertainties, mistakes, trials and errors etc. while all this madness is taking place, investors hold back, business activities are halted and the economy suffers a set back.
Lol, so we should just allow Jonathan and the current ministers to continue forever na, so as to avoid trial and error. Rubbish. It is God, not Jonathan that holds the world by His power. Heaven will not fall because President Jonathan is going to Otuoke or prison like the wife is thinking in her heart.
5, there will be lots of job losses than new ones. With the falling oil prices and the fall of the naira, Govt will have to shrink budget and block all loopholes of waste. Companies will have to cut down on staff, foreign investors will have to wait and monitor the policies of the new administration before they come into the country. This means that there will be fewer jobs. A lot of contracts might be terminated and abandoned, resulting in companies cutting down their workforce. So for those that believe they will be paid because they are unemployed, should ask where the money will come from.
Duh, it's happening already and the fault of the Jonathan government. It is not a win for Jonathan that will stop it, it is right economic policies, security of the country, and stopping wastages that will help revive our economy. A win for Jonathan is not a magic wand that will erase his 6years of incompetence.
6, lets pray no crisis arises from the niger delta region, if anything happens and affects our oil production amidst the falling oil prices. I wonder what will happen and how much a dollar will go for then, maybe 5-N600.
Lol, we cannot live in fear of the unknown or at the mercies of miscreants and militants like tompolo and asari dokubo who have being massively empowered by President Jonathan on our collective wealth. We need responsible leaders that will tame them and put them in their place, and give the youths of this nation a true future, not one based on thuggery, holding government to ransom and unchecked oil theft.
7, despite all that is listed above, politics is business. Those who invested in APC must recover their money no matter what is going on with the economy. This is Nigeria for u.
Do you remember that some people openly donated 21billion naira to PDP? And that is just the start. This is Nigeria for you.
8, we all know that buhari knows nothing about economics and even if you employ the best hands to do the job, the person in charge should have a level of knowledge to what needs to be done. The new appointees will have to go through records of the past to know where to start from. While all this trial and error is going on, 4 years has gone. All we will be hearing from buhari and his team is that the govt is new and inherited a lot of problems. Nigerians should give them some more time and possibly a second term. Then with the untold hardship, Nigerians will start to ask for “CHANGE”….
You know nothing. While Buhari doesn't need to know much about economics, he does know about economics given his stint as head of state and the basic common sense with which he has spoken since the start of his campaign. i do not expect him to be the minister of finance BTW. With all the rubbish the so called coordinating minister of economy(NOI) knows, she has landed us at 220naira to a dollar, with over $3billion going missing in the last one month. Not to mention the depleting national reserves. Buhari and Osinbajo have already hit the ground running with great plans. You should listen to them more, it will improve your life.
9, most of you will say the stolen money will be recovered and brought back into the economy. The lawyers and judges have to eat, so even if the past administration is tried in court, the cases will be adjourned till 4yrs pass. Will buhari be the judge? If people will have to be tried and jailed for corruption, will buhari jail his own party members? That is why buhari has said he will draw the line and put an end to corruption. Drawing the line means that all those guilty of corruption prior to his administration will go free .
If u start to dig into cases of corruption, it will get to abacha's regime and u will be surprised at who will be exposed.
SO WHAT DO U WANT?
Buhari's case seems better than President Jonathan's who does not even look fazed with the corruption and stealing happening under his watch. Billions are getting missing and nobody is getting sacked or jailed while he is busy 'using technology' to fight corruption.
To crash the plane and let the corrupt politicians who have parachutes to jump out and have a soft landing while the plane crashes with Nigerian citizens? Or allow this plane to get to the nearest fuel station and refill?
Remember you will be asked to have patience while they fix the country. While you are waiting, there are no jobs, the dollar is on the high side, and you are running out of ur little savings.
Duh, except you are God, you will have to keep quiet. You do not know tomorrow. Keep your nightmares private or something and stop disturbing the internet with maybes.
But those fixing the nation already have billions in their account. They have private jets and properties all over Nigeria. You will have to pay them rent or you are thrown out of their houses while you wait.
They own universities, so u will have to pay school fees while you wait or u are thrown out of school .They are into oil and gas and u must buy fuel from them while you wait.
THEY CAN WAIT WHILE THEY ARE FIXING THE NATION THERE OWN WAY, BUT CAN YOU?
You are referring to the many thieves in the PDP as well i hope?
