What makes you think GEJ is not in control? The mere fact that there are protests in Abuja and in the states that did'nt want a southerner to become a President in the first place does not mean that GEJ is not in control. statistically, majority of states and Nigerians are going about their normal business except for govt offices that are shut.
By the way, sorry to disappoint you but GEJ would complete his tenure even if Lagosians carry out their political/entertainment jambore/carnival till the end of the year. As for going back to N65, forget it. Its NEVER going to happen. NEVER!
This are the sort of statements that perplex. Is this a democracy? Does nigeria's moving ahead hang on subsidy removal? Is it true that subsidy removal would end corruption? Are the nations we compare ourselves to developed BECAUSE there's no fuel subsidy?

^^^ Ah, nna bros I want ask: now that Oyedepo has called himself "baba witch" (as we read), is he any different from the girl who called herself "witch for Jesus"? Should someone now slap Oyedepo for calling himself a witch when he is supposed to be a "servant" of Jesus? Does Jesus have any "baba witches"? If Oyedepo slapped the girl because, as he told her, Jesus has no witches -- why then is Oyedepo calling himself a witch?

Is Oyedepo too "cut down" for calling himself a "baba witch"?

AIO, in a response to alethia, you said
For Jesus to do so would be for him to
send the people to their death. In
fact the Jews did 'go out into the
streets to protest' a few decades later.
That was the end of Israel as a
country up until 1948. The Romans
massacred them. Jesus did not live
under the government by the people
for the people so the people airing
their voices was not a viable political
option.
to me, that seems to IMPLY that Jesus did not lead a revolt because it wasn't' a democratic setting. That's why I asked a QUESTION, A QUESTION. that's a question mark, not a smiley or concluded opinion. Plus I don't have followers. What is all this nonsense about daft followers, and anti-tithers always subtly inserting a tithe argument in every discussion. if you have no peace not giving your tithes, no need spreading your worries to everyone else na

But they have the old testament in their bibles, they have it in their phones, and in their head. But they say that one is old testament. The law that Christ came to fulfill are those ceremonial laws of clensing and purification, not the old testament(law and prophets). Don't tear off your manual, a major portion for that matter. You need it. Bring it back and obey it, just as Jesus said in Today's passage. God bless you.
Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 1:55pm On Jan 08, 2012
January 8                        Matthew 7v12

Mat  7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Every standard product and standard manufacturer comes with a manual, a kind of guide with which to bring out the best use of a product. In the manual, you'll see a picture of the product, the different parts, how to start and end use of the product, name of product maker, how to troubleshoot etc. Now, mankind is the most important product on the planet earth, and our manufacturer is God. Our manual, the human manual, mankind's manual and guidebook is the Bible.
What a product needs is its manual, not majorly its manufacturer. We do not usually look for the manufacturers of the products we use, but are content to know its operations and put it to good use by the use of the  manuals given. Many of our everyday products are even imported. We have never seen the manufacturer. All we see is perhaps service outlets if any, but many never get to these places, as far as they've understood the proper using of the product through the manual. It's a similar thing with God.
What we, human products need, is the manual Bible. Many atheists are asking "where is the manufacturer, we've got to see the manufacturer." What you need is with you already, the manual. Read the manual, follow it and there will be the best use of the product. But instead, many are looking for error in the manual, or to discredit the manual, or to compare with other manuals. Your manual as a human being is the Bible.
Any person, family or nation that judiciously follows the manual will enjoy his stay here on earth, and even in the afterlife. All developed nations have their foundations deeply embedded in the principles of the manual Bible. Perhaps, today we do not see that foundation, all we may see is a disbelieving superstructure. But history, a sincere study of it, reveals that all developed and prospering nations and individuals follow the principles of the manual Bible.
Now, the Bible is not just new testament, it is both old and new testament. The old testament is referred to, in our text as 'the law and the prophets'. And our passage shows us the summary of the old testament. It is NOT to be discarded, it is our manual. It's very unfortunate many are deceived to think that the old testament is no longer relevant.

Amebo, i don't enjoy getting into all these free for all fight homepage threads, but i should add one or two things to what you've said. One, what is TRUTH? Saying your opinions on the politics in nigeria in all your messages? Or saying God told you to be the next vice-president by joining CPC? Two, what is the meaning of the words 'refined' and 'RAW'? Can you supply Bible passages that say/show that John the baptist was RAW? Was John influential? Did he lead a revolt or a protest? What did he say against the rulers of his time?
Christianity Etc › Re: This Matter Of Interpretations by Image123(m): 8:40pm On Jan 07, 2012
^it's not exactly a new perspective. The statement is 'ambiguous' if i'm permitted to use that word. Actually it's a play of/on words by the all seeing, all knowing Creator. The two meanings are true and applicable. Many will say that Jesus is Christ, and will deceive many. Other manys will say they are the Christ i.e the messiah, and many will be deceived. Also add that Jesus had not just the immediate audience in mind when He spoke/abi na spake. He seemed to have a future audience, even yet in our future, in mind. He's the unparalleled, really, the One who created grammar, the Word personified.

buzugee:
nah Chief, what i am saying is that 'spirits' are not born. spirits are recycled into new born bodies. the only time  a spirit will die eventually is when the almighty creators son returns to earth to claim his people. those who are not claimed will experience the second death (annihilation of their spirits). but until then ? spirits are simply recycled into new bodys. having said all that, there are 2 ways in which the lord can use his spirits (because he owns the spirits ecclesiastes 12 vs 7). he can use them to either punish someone (say if you are a mother who is into heavy sin and the lord wants to punish you, he will recycle one of his spirits into a new born baby and allow the baby to come through you, then when the baby grows into a kid, he will take his spirit back (hence the kid dies) and this will bring the disobedient parent grief (john 9 vs 1-2).  having said that, another scenario could be that the body to which the spirit was attached to in past life did some very evil things so while the new body it has is that of a kid, the spirit is always the same. hence the lord is punishing the spirit for what it did in past life.

and there is no such thing as hell. hell is a condition on earth. hell is purgatory. the place where spirits are sent so that they can acquire humility and respect and faith in the lord. thats earth. hell is on earth. all the suffering you are going through now, all the corruption, murder, earthquakes, boko haram, racism, hunger etc etc. this is hell you are going through. the purpose of hell is to bring you closer to the lord.
Tell me about it, are you serious?

Ehn ehn, den den den, so you're saying that you're a winch for Jesus, ehn? Jesus has no witches. Hey, don't cower, i'm not going to slap you.
Your experiences are not coincidence BTW. Well, you've got a warning sign and it depends what you do with the warning sign. You need to pray as you've done, and keep praying. Maybe, add a fast if it'll help your faith. Then take that Bible and read it like your sister's life depends on it, literally. Claim God's promises, and ask for forgiveness of sins, for yourself and her. Don't worry(how can i say that?). Well, do not worry, have faith in God. In the name of Jesus, i say, nobody's dying in your family. It's well ehn.

It's one thing to abuse someone in anger and say "you're mad, bast.ard". It's another thing for that person to truly be mad/insane or a real bas.tard. Your case is similar, the Bible put you in the sorry class of fools, it's not my making. We're only stating the obvious. But you can be wise today, by believing God thehomer.

Another example of ignorance, calling Lithonia a rural part of Georgia, enough of your glaring misguidance, and talking about predicaments, how much have you contributed to the Nigerian economy? You made reference to someone earning 20,000 naira per month, why didn't such a person protest the condition of the refineries or the fact that there's too much corruption, why wait till it hits home before doing something? The answer is simple, most Nigerians are guided by this simple philosophy: If it doesn't affect me, then wetin come be my own. A philosophy that got us to this very predicament, why must we wait till the removal of fuel subsidy before protesting, we watched the government continue to steal billions of naira and infrastructure and basic ammenities such as electricity and security dwindle down, nobody said anything but now because everyone is hooked on fuel, there's an uproar! Nigeria is one messed up country and unless true deregulation happens, it will continue to be an hell hole for the poor and a fountain of wealth for the rich, the choice is yours, support deregulation or continue with the way things have been for the past few decades, no infrastructure, no stable form of electricity and definitely no security, enough said!
Ever heard the phrase 'pushed to the wall'? It seems the populace has been pushed to the wall, and are 'fighting' back, or about to as it were. It's a poor arguement to keep asking "why didn't you fight all this while that you were pushed, why fight when you got to the wall?". Trust seems the main issue here, the government has lost trust. There's no guarantee that the 'subsidy money' would be rightly used as proposed on paper. Security issues, naira drop, bad roads, poor electricity, open bribe&corruption, reckless power play etc have created a sort of boiling point. Do you now understand?

Pastor AIO:
Does this only apply to the bible or can it be said of any text. Can I say that Things Fall Apart is living/alive. Because everytime I read it I get some new insight. In fact I get this also from films. Everytime I watch a film I see something that I didn't notice before. And depending on my situation I might read different things into a book. Is it the book that changes or my perspective?
Yes, that the Bible is alive applies only to the Bible. It means that it can give life, and can change your life. You can get new insight or perspective on almost anything from smell to taste to meditation. That why i added 'as by the Spirit of God'. Fleshly new perspectives and introspections would not produce life. It may produce a new book or message for the G.O, but not spirit and life that affects the spirituality of the man.
BTW, I just 'threw that into the mix' of your OP as to why 'interpretations' may differ.
