Also the reason you said Jesus came to save you. For us in Islam, we do not need the death of anyone to receive Mercy of Allah. This is the better arrangement than you who needs the blood of a dead person.
Please do remind me, what do islam followers believe that cleanses sin, or gives mercy from God?

July 30 Genesis 29v20

20. And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.

Love is strong. Our love for God should be stronger than any love we might have experienced or plan to experience. We are the bride of Christ, waiting for His coming. Our true wait makes the pilgrimage on earth to look shorter and bearable. When christians are tired, it's usually because they are loosing focus.
Our focus should be on love, our love for the Bridegroom. Not really on service. Our service here on earth can be made to seem but a few days if we truly focus on love. When we begin to focus on man, or on reward, or on ourselves, or on anything else, our journey tends towards a long, very narrow, forlorn experience.
Words may not fully express love, many waters cannot quench it. Our heart pants indicate it. Do you love Jesus? Upgrade your love today, service would be more pleasant.

What's God saying in James 2v14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15. If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16. And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstandingye give them not those things which are needful to the body ; what doth it profit? 17. EVEN SO faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
This is the fullness of God's plan and mind for us. A 'God bless you','It is well', or a pitiful prayer may not be all that's needed. Alive Faith works.
James 5v14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
What God is saying here is a demonstration of true faith. When God refers to 'anointing with oil', christians should realise that it goes BEYOND a ritual like pouring of olive oil. It actually connotes/implies a taking care of, a sort of medication for the body. I do not deny the means of the anointing oil, or handkerchief, or water, or hands, or hemtouchs.
Psalm 23 says 'thou anointest my head with oil'. It's a taking care of.
Luke 10v34. And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil.
It's a taking care of, note the medicinal usage.
Matthew 6v17. When thou fastest, anoint thine head and wash thy face.
It's a taking care of.
2Chronicles 28v15,Ezekiel 16v9. Pray for them and take care of them. Jesus is Lord.

1. Isaiah 38v1,5,21. You may know the story. King Hezekiah was sick and dying, he asked God for healing, God sent prophet Isaiah to him and gave him 15years. His healing came by his applying what may be called medicine/medication.
2. Mark 5v25,26,34. The famous woman with the issue of blood got her healing, and was commended for her faith despite suffering many things of many physicians. Note that her search for medical help didn't hinder her asking God, or her faith.
3. 1Timothy 5v23. Paul who believed in healing instructed Timothy to use a little wine for his sickness. He was to use the wine as a sort of medicine. Would we say Paul lacked faith, or that he felt Timothy's case don pass prayer, no. God forbid. But all scripture is profitable for doctrine and for our learning(Romans 15v4).
God wills that we be healthy and has equipped us to combine trust and wisdom.
Christianity Etc › Re: Faith Healing Fails as Usual by Image123(m): 1:07am On Jul 30, 2010
all you need is faith, Jesus did not talk about works when expecting a miracle or healing at all, you can quote any part of the bible where Jesus talks about work when expecting a healing miracle. . . .
You're off tangent already here. To be better acquainted with the Bible, one needs to see it as one book coming from one Person, or at least take it that way if you can't see it. It'll aid you. When you begin to 'divide the Bible', that's when you'll begin to see contradictions that are not. Whether it is James or Joshua, or Matthew or Malachi, it's all the Word of God, complementing and fully completing each other, LIKE a solved puzzle. Actually, the said Jesus gave some 'copyright' to His apostles when He said in Luke 10v16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
So nothing like Jesus did not talk about works, for James(the book) is the Word, and the Word is Jesus, and Jesus is God.
The principles have been in effect for long. God has nothing against faith and works(in this case medicine). I'll give you 3Bible witnesses.

It's like a child genuinely asking his parent for money. The parent may gladly give him if he were young. But if a, say 30old, child asks his parent for this same money genuinely, the parent may give him but on good ground. They want to know, i sent you to school, you're 30, you're employed, what have you done from your angle to get the money, etcs. It's not that the parent don't have the cash or wont give the cash, but this child should be somewhat responsible for himself. That's like what we are to God. We don't run to Him begging for breast milk when He put us in charge of a milk company. He's given us capacity to autorun to an extent. All we do still need is to trust in Him, remember Him, still pray without ceasing.

I'll say it again this way. If someone had a broken leg or malaria, say during the time of moses, there was little medicine had to offer him compared to now. It'll be most appropriate if he cried to God without doing nothing. He didn't even know what to do btw. If today, someone has a broken leg or malaria, it's very much christian okay if the person prays about it, AS WELL AS get treatment(perhaps bandage, POP, pills). The treatment doesn't hinder his healing but aids it.
Christianity Etc › Re: Faith Healing Fails as Usual by Image123(m): 12:30am On Jul 30, 2010
how then did you jump to we live in a much developed world? Does the word of your God only apply to the underdeveloped world?
Hey, you're drifting here friend. Come back, recall my 'not exactly capturing' analogy of a parent/child relationship? Keep that in mind. What i'm saying is God is the parent in this analogy, mankind is the child. And the child grew up, mankind has made progress, that's the Maker's plan. When he was younger, he was next to helpless, but as he's grown, he can help himself some extent. Recall the silk balance pls.

Don't behave like a dolt, you're becoming an adult. Jesus Christ is alive.
I mean, if you believe the Bible when it says that Jesus said something, you should also believe it when it says Jesus is alive, well, and alive forever.
Christianity Etc › Re: Faith Healing Fails as Usual by Image123(m): 4:32pm On Jul 29, 2010
The Bible doesn't forbid pure medical care, and faith without works is dead. What the Bible forbids is occult practices and help of evil origin. God is also against pride, or total unreliance in Him(God).
Even when God rained manna, His children still had to go out and get it, and then prepare it. And when they got to canaan, their farmers believed God for a bountiful harvest. But they still had to sow and then reap, even while they believed it was God's provision. God's provision is not to make us lazy or helpless, and His miracles are to glorify His name, not to save us hospital bills or make us healed stars on the pages of magazines.

Good question. How it adds up is that we live in an age that is very much developed, and in which we can easily take care of ourselves. Like as been said above, medical science can easily take care of the child and is very accessible to them, there's no sin or crime in them making use of it. It becomes kinda redundant and irresponsible to go and meet God for what He's already given.
Christians accept that God has given humans brains, wisdom, dominion and permission. God expects that the take advantage of it AND maintain the balance of trusting Him.

Grace is NOT a license to commit sin or to live couples' life. All such people are NOT on the way to Heaven but on the way to destruction. Grace is what saves us(the repentant ) despite our sins.

If a child is sick, he's not always going to call his parent, especially when he's grown. If he needs to inform his parent, then he'll be helped in a sensible way. A 25year old graduate shouldn't be crying for pain in front of his parent when he's working and even has a company sponsored hospital available. What i'm saying is He can easily help himself.

Christianity Etc › Re: Faith Healing Fails as Usual by Image123(m): 10:06pm On Jul 28, 2010
I've not said that God acts once in a while. Being efficient is not 'acting once in a while' like you put it. This doesn't exactly capture it, but it's like a Parent and child relationship. There's a time when the parent do almost everything for the child, feeding, clothing, movement etc. As time progresses, the child is to be made more responsible. Not necessarily because the parent are tired or can't afford it, but because the child needs to be a man now. The relationship is still there, communication, etc. That's the way God has dealt with mankind.
Christianity Etc › Re: Ituah Ighodalo Starts Own Church by Image123(m): 9:55pm On Jul 28, 2010
Now I break my promise; case re-opened:
Oh merci.
the man should not be judged, only God has that privilege.
But he sure has a fundamental christian right to be corrected, or rebuked the christian way IF he has erred.
Ighodalo divorced his wife when he was still unbelieving and that the woman is remarried with children.circumstances beyond our control may legitimize divorce and God would bless it.
I'll say you're been biased. This is what Jesus said in Mark 10v11. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12.And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
It's that straight forward. Whosoever, believer, unbeliever, pastor, member. God respects covenants. If He was married to the 1st woman and slept with her, they're married before God. He should bear his cross, if that's the case. Life is not a joke, and marriage is not child's play.
Christianity Etc › Re: Faith Healing Fails as Usual by Image123(m): 9:23pm On Jul 28, 2010
God is not likely to send manna when the children of israel get to canaan land. Yes, once in a while, He might send a raven to feed Elijah or bless 5loaves and 2fishes. But it's once in a while. God has made man and given him dominion. Man is expected to exercise that dominion IN CONJUCTION WITH trust in God.
God is an effective manufacturer, and He expects His machine(man) to sort of autorun. Not always jumping to the rescue like one dubious mechanic i know. It takes Life to achieve the silk balance that i hinted earlier.
