August 21 1Kings 21v29 29 Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house. I do not fully comprehend the grace of God, who does? How can, how will God forgive after a terrible life, even an anti-God life? But He does forgive. God forgives the sinfulest. Paul was a sinner, big sinner. Peter was a sinner, unworthy sinner. God forgave them both, and they became integral instruments in God's hands. Today, God is still saying, 'Though your sins be as scarlet (i.e your slate/report is so stained it's all red), He wants to make that slate white as snow, all clean. He wants to press the reset button for you. You see, king Ahab was a very bad man, and would still be as we found out later. But God's mercy still shined out through to him. Ahab was wicked, he actually role himself to work wickedness and did very abominably. He was the worst sinful-est king that Israel ever had. Yet when Ahab humbled himself, God had mercy on him. |
ogajim:Do you also do the bacchus annoything, or you just Never learn. I've got more than 500posts on nl, how new is 'new' or must you comment? All this circus lovers of circles sha, tonyet you dey see am so. |
Pastor AIO:Are you just playing for time or what? Just type 'a summary on tithe' and click search. Click the thread that has that name in the result page. That's just one of many instances on nl in which the passage was addressed either by me or others. I mentioned just that specifically because i addressed it and it was recent. Just read through the whole page, or read my replies only if you wish. |
Rhino I hope it is well with you. Please stay close to loved ones o. |
There's no big deal to this thread, why do people spend their lives arguing over nothing? They are both your parents, see my people dying for the letter. God have mercy. By the way, you can bless yourself. Jesus/God made it clear that He is Jealous when He said "And do not call ANYONE on earth your father, for you have ONE father and He is in Heaven" Matt 23:9. This would suggest that no "human" (pastor, elder, whatever) can play the role of your true "Father" to bless you and that furthermore, adopting a "strange" father is not something that God wants by any means for those that are His.The above idea is enjoying undeserved liberty. By your matthew 23 logic, don't you think that Jesus said 'ONE father and He is in Heaven'. Why are you making it TWO and accusing others who make it 3 or more? I'm quoting you, 'do not call ANYONE on earth your father'. When did your biological father escape ANYONE, or are you helping Jesus to sound more reasonable? Think hard, pray harder. The letter kills but the Spirit, Please do not insult me nuclear, thank you in advance. |
Another funny thread. |

Jesus talked about they which SHALL BE accounted worthy to obtain. God has not written some predestinated list somewhere. He's not a rigging chairman, He is the Just God. There are they which SHALL BE accounted worthy. Strive to be part of those, if you aren't yet. Don't dwell on negatives. I've seen people who just stay hopelessly crying 'pharaoh pharaoh'. Don't be a pharaoh. You too can fulfill positive prophecy. You can be saved. Only believe. You can be accounted worthy to obtain. Run to obtain, says God through Paul the apostle. I am determined to run. You too can run. Run until you are accounted worthy. There is an account God is keeping. Some people just spend up all the grace. Theirs is always a withdrawal from the grace account, never anything significant to contribute. They are but flesh, of this world. But those that are of the Spirit, of that world, they'll be fruitful and flourishing. God, make me fruitful and flourishing in Jesus' name. |
August 20 Luke 20v35 35. But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage. Jesus says His words are truth and life. They are light to our way and Today's passage shines bright on us, reminding us that believers are not of this world. True christians are pilgrims not settlers in this world. They are them of whom this world is not worthy. God would not will that we should be failures on earth but He doesn't want us to settle for less. There are many mansions in Heaven. If it were not so, Jesus would have said it. How much do you long for this true home? Heaven is not here on earth, although we can enjoy the days of heaven on earth. We have a promise to inherit, it is the promise of that world. Jesus told Pilate "my kingdom is not of this world". Not of this world!, but of that world. It is that world which the prophets say 'abide forever'. I want to obtain that world. |
KunleOshob:Please, kindly link us with these 'facts' for better confirmation. Na 3years se? 8hours later, it has developed to 10years. No wahala, tomorrow you'll talk about tithephobia from the womb. carry go |
Pastor AIO:Check up the thread 'A summary on tithe'. I think it's just last month. Notice that kunleoshob is aware of that thread and responded to it. I've talked about it before and others have also, all you need to do is read through. But i'll be in for a pleasant surprise if most of you guys ever see it, cos you's Never learning and never able to come to the knowledge of simple truth. |
Tonyet, it's majorly because of you that I'm going to answer this. I said it, i don't like doing what i don't like i.e going in circles. We know what would come out of this, they'll run to hebrews, and when answered they'll run to malachi, then to leviticus, then matthew. And kunle especially would disappear like he's rentaghost only to re-appear when the heat is out of his seat, or in some other similar thread that will soon be opened. |
Finally, while a church or a group of believers may have 'committee/elders' or even pastorS, there's nothing scripturally wrong with having a(1) pastor. The singers might have their head, he is their pastor. A cell group might have their cell head/leader. He's their pastor or she's their pastor. It's simply a leader. It's a relationship that is simple and blessed. It's rather unfortunate that we bring in our english and our greek and try to make mountains out of molehills, castigating leadership. God's injunction in the new testament is still, "Let everything be done decently and in order". |
A bishop/pastor's work is to stay with a particular congregation and nurture them, feed them with God's Word and protect them. 1Timothy 1v3. Timothy was to pastor ephesus and supervise things there. So we may glean from here that a pastor can be under a senior as Timothy was junior to Paul. Paul was a father/shepherd/pastor to some. So also was John the beloved. They were not all equal in that sense that many put it. There was leadership, fathering, mentoring, shepherding, pastoring. 1Timothy 3 and Titus 1 show us that there are requirements to be met before becoming a pastor. It's not everybody's office. Some people think Jesus is the only pastor of christians, we are all the same. No, He has given us pastors. Pastors set in order, they ordain, they abide. A pastor may possess other gifts, like he may also be a teacher, or a prophet etc. Jesus recognises pastors. In Revelation, Christ wrote to the churches and He addressed their leader. Each church had a representative/pastor/angel. |
God always looks for a head. It may not be by age or education but He sets a head/representative over His people. Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob were all heads, i dare say pastors, of their people. God's dealing with their race, family etc was through them in some sense. Moses was head of israel. He had other leaders/pastors around him. He had the 70 elders, he had Aaron, even the tribe of Levi. And among the levite priests, they had chief priests and yet one high priest, the head/pastor. Israel had judges and kings, heads. And when we come to the new testament, God has not changed. He had disciples but He had a 70. He had a 70 but He chose a 12, and among the 12, He had a 3. Yet in this 3, He made Peter head and gave him charge to strengthen the others and be Shepherd to feed His sheep. And through church history, there have been pastors/bishops. Like i've said, it's simply the head over a group of believers. Like history tells us Peter was not forever in jerusalem. There was a time he was pastor in rome and James was pastor in jerusalem. There was a time Paul spent long time in iconium, and about 3 years with the ephesians. Titus and Timothy were also pastors at one time or the other. |
More specifically, let me share on the pastor. It seems to be the most coveted of the 5 offices, seeing He(the pastor) is the official ruler in his resident church and 'doesn't seem to need much of a spiritual gift' compared to the other 4 offices. Everybody wants to be pastor(who no like to be king). You'll easily be nicknamed 'pastor' than other offices, it is a coveted position. A pastor is a Shepherd, not a sheperd(i wonder what kunle means by that word, sounds like one of his drinks imo). It is the same office as a Bishop. The pastor is head/representative. It is contrary to the opinion that is being passed across unhindered these days on NL. The shepherd is not equal with the sheep, He is their leader. He is also not a board of Right from the beginning of man, God has always made representatives for His people. These representatives are the head, so to speak, for we know that Christ is Head of all, our Tower, Strength, Song, even Life. From Genesis, we see God making man the head of the woman and family even though He is no respecter of persons. God is a God of order, not of confusion. He declares that they are no more two but one, yet the man is the head. |
Obviously, a pastor is a spiritual gift. Ephesians 4v11 says He GAVE some pastors. A pastor is a leadership role. It may be vocational, i dare say it's best if it were vocational. A pastor is a professional position in the sense that it is not an office for amateurs. And it is a personal relationship. God has given His church 5 people: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. These 5 offices are gifts which may be seen one or more per individual to whom it is given. Again, they are not everybody's office but gifts, and each local church would do well to have these 5 offices available for effective work of the ministry, the perfecting of saints and building the body of Christ. Just an apostle isn't balanced for the work, or just a prophet, or just a teacher. All 5 offices will bring the right balance. It has been the bane of the general church that most lean on just one or so of the 5 offices. Some churches are filled with prophets, no teacher, no apostle. Another church has a pastor but no evangelist, no teacher. I'm not talking about title, like sunday school teacher, or tagged an apostle because you finished seminary. I'm referring to the gifts God has given His church. |
OP What is the meaning of resurrection? |
^it's already been discussed on nl, what's the guarantee that you'll learn anything if anyone talked about that passage. Ask kunle to explain the passage to you, he's been taught before, except of course if he Never learns. |
August 19 Proverbs 19v 16 Pro 19:16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die. It is wonderful to be born-again, but most wonderful to keep that life which we have received. Believers have the life of God, eternal life. Just as natural life is not limited to naming ceremony and birth certificate, so also the spiritual life doesn’t dwell on basics. We need to grow. Let us go on to perfection. The Life we have is such that if we remain in one spot, we may not notice our failings, being eternal life. Yet, God’s plan is growth, that ye may grow thereby. Our natural life is so short that we may quickly/easily notice failings. Within two/three years of birth, there are things we expect from a child. We may start to worry if the child is not talking, or hearing, or even eating. A farmer would become concerned if his plant/animal as not growing as expected within months/weeks. Even so, our lives as Christians is eternal and God is expecting us to grow. It is in growth that we may keep our soul. A sure sign of growth is keeping God’s commands. You are not growing if you are not keeping the commandment. For what would it profit a man if he gained the whole world and lose his own soul? He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul. Whatever you may gain on earth; healing, promotion, answers to prayerS, dominion, favour, money, whatsoever, you will lose in the ultimate scheme of things except you keep the commandment. The commandment is God’s commandment, not all commandments (there are men’s commandment). God’s Word is God’s commandment, Genesis to Revelation. Many are erroneously led to believe that being under grace permits disobedience to God’s commandment. Grace gives us power to keep God’s commandments, this is what the law dispensation was weak to achieve. The Psalmist speaks of the angels that do God’s commandments. Even the Son Himself does the Father’s commandment. Let us come boldly before the throne of grace, and give all diligence to keep the commandment. For he that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul. You will not die, you will live and declare the works of God. Amen. |
OLAADEGBU:I'm just asking him o. You know kunle can do and undo. I suspect he sets apart his tithe strictly for bacchus annoything. |
I dey come back this thread. |
^ Don't you ever learn? O, almost forgot, never learning. I just said that the word 'tithemonger/tithemongering' is INVALID in my opinion. So, what are you on about 'my twisted logic'. Abi you don anoint yourself with bacchus this morning?lol |
It is a smooth balance that we have in scriptures and that the patriachs/saints of old demonstated. It's these balance that some infer to be contradiction in the Word. All this things will easily neutralize when we see God as our all, our everything. In Today's passage, God is everything, all the world to me. THERE is/goes the relationship. Jehovah is my rock, my high tower. Some people in the other religion especially will nearly vomit if they heard that. But that is love, relationship with God. My fortress, my buckler and horn. The Psalmist was a man of war, he had all these mentioned physicially and knew what they represented. Yet to him, God was all in all, the foundation and source of all. This is the trust that God wants us to have in Him. For Him to be our all, our strength, our account, our car, our economy, our vision and television, our future and present, our investment, our alpha and omega, our everything. May God bring us nearer to Him till we experience true relationship. |
August 18 Psalm 18v2 2. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I so much love the portion of Scriptures which says let your moderation be known unto all men. Temperance is a fruit of the Spirit that should be coveted. Many believers lack temperance. They are either too forward or too backward/behind, too deep or too shallow, too serious or too frivolous, too zealous or too careless. Some's faith in God is so overblown that they think God will do everything for them, I wonder sometimes that they never wait for God to cook their food. To them, there's nothing we should or can do of any significance, infact to try is a stink. Some others' faith is so absent you wonder how come they are There are many whose fear of God is bloated you'll think joy is another name for sin. On the other hand, others have no fear of God as they have taken grace to mean lasciviousness. |
dipo2much:The bolded is the exact thing that i said arsenal ONLY knows how to do, they can't do anything else. We all know it's impossible to have 100% possession. Arsenal can't handle pressure. You can 'press' manU, chelsea, liverpool for long periods and not score, it's difficult to say that for arsenal. It's their style of play and its not working. And that's the cause of most the team's injury woes coupled with the mentality. I'm not just on the liverpool match but a bigger view of the team. |
If you have the patience, wait on God and let the euphoria settle. You may just be FALLING in love, or you may be in a good thing. But let patience have her perfect work and pray. Until God's peace rules in you, not just anyhow piss like the one that rules on some unbelievers here on nl. |
The purpose of life is to glorify God for He is the giver of life. We glorify God by obeying Him and fulfilling His will. Every other purpose will lead to unfulfilment and a sorry afterlife. So join Them as you can't beat Them. |
dipo2much:You change your style of play. Wasting energy holding the ball and not doing significant much with it would cause injury. Ever wondered that d team doesn't know how to do anything else than hold the ball? It's always very dangerous when the opponent is in possession against arsenal but arsenal can afford 90% possession and still draw/lose a game. So change your style of play and instill men's mentality in the team. It's always arsenal resting players because of cough and catarrh. Torres was injured against arsenal, i'm told he played. He wouldn't play if he was in arsenal and he'll need about 2 or more friendly matches to be match fit before he's introduced when arsenal is leading conveniently. Not a winning/champion mentality imo |
anonimi:I'm not exactly a 'wordsmith' so i can't say. But tithephobic isn't a new term on nl, that's one of what i'm saying 'never learning'. It's common knowledge that antitithe fellows have a lot of fear/phobia for tithes, either as a word or in its usage or effect. So the term tithephobic is just what you are, TITHEPHOBIC. On the other hand, tithemania may well suit as a synonym for you as another peculiarity of tithephobics, apart from hypocrisy, is a craze and zeal to discuss tithe. They're in a mania over tithe. I'm told monger means to trade or deal in something, so tithemonger as a word is invalid or crass imo. |
kokoye:Is this a threat or comedy? Why do tithephobics have hypocrisy in common? |
