Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 1:10pm On Aug 25, 2010
This peace is not just confidence, for this peace surpasses understanding. It is not carelessness or a carefree attitude, for it is from God who urges us to watch and be sober. This peace comes when we receive the promise, his soul shall dwell at ease. It comes by meditation, faith and prayer. I'll add that this is the only peace that comes through fear, the fear of God.
This peace will bring us to our inheritance, for his seed shall inherit the earth. The bigger picture is in view here, it's a panoramic view. The meek shall inherit the earth, it's looking beyond just this earth but to the earth, that earth, the new earth which will be unshakeable. You see it is not a peace that makes you confident about going to hell, it is a peace that leads to the promised land. It is a promise that you must diligently claim and not stop till you get it. You will get it.

August 25 Psalm 25v13

13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

Horatio G Spafford's famous 'It is well with my soul' brings to mind the picture of peace, true peace. A peace that brings good cheer in tribulation, a peace that begets all joy in diverse temptations. Peace is not just a lack of problems but a certainty and a seeing beyond the present problem.
God has promised His children peace, his soul shall dwell at ease. It's a peace that the world cannot give and that it cannot take away. It's the peace that prophet Daniel had when king Darius could not sleep. It is a fruit of the Spirit i.e it is for the spiritual, those that are born of God (born-again).

Joagbaje:
James was an anointed man of God and he taught great principles. But he did not have depth of knowledge of truth as paul , so they had some diffences. Paul and john were the apostles that really had so much depth of truth .I thought I explained in the post some of the issue paul had with James.

James taught on separation
James taught circumcision in the flesh
James taught salvation by work
Sorry if i'm overlooking reasons you may have posted before, that's why this thread was created, for you to present those reasons. Please produce your strong reasons/proofs for each of the bolded above. Thank you.
Christianity Etc › Joagbaje, Come And Answer Your Paul James Query. by Image123(op): 7:03pm On Aug 24, 2010
James was still mixing Jewish custom with the gospel , a teaching Paul frowned at. He taught that the gentile Christians have to be circumcised after the law to be saved among other things he taught based on his level of understanding. Paul even had to call some of James brethren false ,because they were trying to pollute the Gentiles with the law. James taught that the gentiles must be circumcised according to the law of moses to be
saved. James was the pastor of the church in Jerusalem, he took over leadership from Peter. Probably because he was a blood brother to Jesus christ. So people feared him even Peter feared him. Look at the authority with which he spoke at the conference in Jerusalem after the uproar. Paul that was more anointed would not even talk to his elders like that. Acts 15:13-22. And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: Quote Then he went bla bla bla like altheia the time waster. And ended up in the law of Moses as usual. Quote Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. The bible records that those who troubled paul's ministry in galati a were from James. He was their pastor, the scripture above is enough evidence of his doctrine. Who will dare challenge James the mighty, THE LOOOORDS BROTHER? Even "Pope" Peter feared James. We can forget paul's account how Peter came to visit Paul and ate with the gentiles which was against James teachings, but some of James disciples came , Peter ran!
The above are a few of Joagbaje's words which i find nauseating. I've extracted them from the other thread so as to focus on it, instead of having it as a subset of the other thread. Please Joagbaje, what did apostle James buy from you?

Confetti,  I am sorry I skipped your post earlier because of the lenght of it. I just had time to go over it now.  Maybe the Lord reward you in ways that you desire. Amen.
I directed him to confetti's post, to kunle's tithe thread pages 1-3 and to the 'summary on tithe' thread. Like i said earlier, these issues have been earlier addressed, contrary to that hypocrite kunle's claims that deut 14 is anyone's albatross. If it's some other question you imply, well i'm not obliged to answering foolish questions. I'll rather avoid them. I won't be suprised if you and your ilk still come later to repeat these. Bunch of drunk drinkands

Pastor AIO:
thank you. the title doesn't sound funny to me. From reading it I get the gist that you are saying that there were different kinds of tithes. And the tithe mentioned in deuteronomy is a different one.

Please if I've understood you wrong, you can correct me.

Let's proceed slowly. Could you please tell what the different tithes are? and also which one of them do you collect in your church? You obviously don't collect the deuteronomy one, because nobody eats anything in your church as a part of worship. Is it the heave offering that you are collecting?
Front page? Rubbish.

Tithe isn't so weighty a matter as it is to tithephobics like you, to deserve continual attention, definitions and elaborations.
BTW, you should cover your head in shame and apologise for your former folly. I'm not going through this circle again. You may look at confetti's post or read carefully through my post in that other thread, maybe post 7 and 8, and other threads.
Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 3:56pm On Aug 23, 2010
There are so many fake, false spiritual leaders today. It is good that we should discern that. Discernment is not discrimination. Many take two wrong extremes; some will not discern at all but say "we are the same, all roads lead to God/Heaven". Some on the other hand will discriminate and even destroy the whole. But God would have us to discern. He has not left us without guides, indices, pointers, guages, traits and trails.
False leaders violate the law of God, they count it obsolete and useless. They put no difference between the holy and the unholy, they just group everything together. They say "they are all the same, we are all sinners, nobody holy pass". They do not show, tell, explain the difference between the unclean and the clean. They have shunned God's purpose and goal for His children which is rest (Matthew 11v28).
God wants us to discern who leads us, so that we're not led astray.
Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 3:32pm On Aug 23, 2010
August 23 Ezekiel 22v26

26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Today, there are fakes of almost everything. Even the original may get corrupted, that is the system we live in. In the spiritual also, there are fakes, counterfeits and corrupted. There are fake teachers, false prophets apostles and pastors. The major problem now is that the fake seems more, in quantity, than the original. This is a real problem because it leads to distrust, perhaps even of the whole system.
Take for instance, many are aware that there's fake currency of a certain denomination. But the people aren't that bothered because the original is more than the fake. But if the fake were abundant, people will be more bothered. Buying electronics or clothing in some part of the world is done with ease even though fake exists. But if on the other case, you go to parts of the world/country where there are so many fake, even the original may be grouped with the fake in our eyes.

Ok o! I do agree. It's just that GENERALLY, it's seen as addressing an individual TO PHILEMON, also verses 7, 17, 20 maybe. Or just like we generally talk of the epistles of Paul, though he actually wrote with Timothy, Silas and co. But like i'll always say, it's God's Word to us ALL. Good night bro.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is In The Best Position To Bless You; Your Parents Or Pastor by Image123(m): 12:19am On Aug 22, 2010
He says talking to Adults - "call no man on earth your father except God in Heaven". Did you ever consider that His disciples were fully grown men who may not even have had living "fathers" and that the context was just for purposes of respect (that they should not give to man what is due to God)? Calling a man "Daddy GO" starts you off towards putting him between you and God. That is a terrible choice to make
Scriptural interpretation should not be based on conjecture or probability, what's your point about orphans.
Call no man on earth, what gives your biological father rights to escape the 'no man' clause that others cannot escape? He says 'you have ONE Father', and His whereabouts is clear, Heaven.
My point is that an isolation of that scripture from other scripture OR a simplistic interpretation of the verse will put you in a fix. You're to compare scripture with scripture.
E.g Romans 4v1. What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
Do you call God 'daddy GO'?lol you're crying more than the bereaved here.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is In The Best Position To Bless You; Your Parents Or Pastor by Image123(m): 12:04am On Aug 22, 2010
@image123: You said both parents and pastors ARE both your
parents. ^^^ Look at that statement again - "your pastor and your parents are both your parents" Do you see the contradiction?
No, i see no contradiction but an harmony. One can have different parents, fathers, mothers. It's simply context and lingo. You can have a biological father, an adopted father(abi motherless baby no get hope for your vocab?), father-in-law, school father, helper father etc. Of course also, Heavenly Father. David and Saul shared a Son-Father relationship. Elisha saw Elijah as father, Joash say Elisha as father, Timothy saw Paul as father, John was told to see Mary as mother.

Why "white washed Sepulchres"? Because it was true. And my bro, that last phrase is totally deadly yabbing - to call a human being "a grave cleaned outside but rotting and stinking inside". Jesus can yap O. BUT IT WAS TRUE SO IT WAS NOT AN INSULT or would you say Jesus was insulting them?
There's nothing deadly about the statement(s) of Jesus, the words He spake were spirit and life. Hear Him.
Matthew 23v27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
The bolded shows it's a simile. He's simply saying they're like a tomb/grave/sepulchre. Grave look fine/are plastered and painted usually white outwardly but contain dead men/fossils. The pharisees were beautiful externally but their hearts were corrupt and wicked. This isn't an insult or yab/yap. It's different from when you downgrade another's IQ or financial status or grammar.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is In The Best Position To Bless You; Your Parents Or Pastor by Image123(m): 11:14pm On Aug 21, 2010
If I see a blind person and say "that guy is blind", is it a lie? OR is it an insult because the person prefers not to hear the truth? Friend, it is only when I call a sighted man "blind" that I insult him. But when a man pretends to be blind so he can twist truth (implying I cannot see through such pretence), that is now an insult and totally unfair. It is a major insult to his audience's intelligence. And when they see through it and are expected to keep quiet to show solidarity, it is an insult to truth. It is an insult to Love. It is an insult to God.
Mr, so you write parables, waoh, that christ-like,good of you.

I already stated why I said they were spiritual. I named 9 churches so why were there only 7 addressed in Revelation and why was it their state (spiritual condition) that was the differing factor in the issue. Present your own case for the contrary rather than telling me to repeat myself.
The 7churches were spiritual not physical? wetin pesin no go hear for internet. John/Jesus was writing to the 7churches in Asia, and just like every other scripture, it is profitable for all to benefit. You and all this your writing to pharisee, to levites, to priests, to jews etc. The Word of God is for us all. BTW, Philemon is a person not a church, that's general b.k. Plus those other churches aren't in Asia. No more Revelation talk from me on this thread. Open another if you please.

This is a great writeup. But I have issues with some of the posts.

I don't agree with your use of language here, it is derogatory to the office of a pastor. People don't covet Pastor's office. It is a calling and responsibility, not in the sense of lording it over Gods people. It is not a Childs play.

Hebrews 5:4
4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, .

.
The 5 fold ministry are not necessarily needed in a local church. They are gifts to the body of christ and not a local church. Ofcourse I agree with you that a pastor is for a local church. But an apostle? . An apostle could be the head of a ministry, but he doesn't need more apostle in the local branches under him but pastors.
Maybe You throw more light on that.
I didn't say people should covet the office of a pastor, i was just making an observation and i explained it. I didn't say it was right or wrong to covet the office.
When i mean local church above, i'm having in mind what is popularly called 'denomination' today.

I thought what my Bible says is that Christ was speaking to the "ANGEL"s of the seven churches? What version of the Bible are you using? and how do you turn "Angel" to pastor/representative/angel? Is Angel Micheal of the Hosts of Heaven a "pastor"?
I'm not getting into any debate/long talk on Revelation on this thread, you may start a thread for such. The point that is been brought out is that one angel can be over a church. Like i've earlier said, a church may have a 'committee', but there's nothing wrong with it having just one leader/representative.

You may sin all you can today but while it is still called 'Today', if you'll humble yourself, God still wants to forgive you. He is not mighty for nothing, He is mighty to save. He wants to save you from evil. He is willing that all will repent and accept Him as God. He hates pride and hates sin, disobedience. He loves you.
If Ahab can humble himself, you can. Humble yourself before God and He will lift you up. Today, He wants to lift you up, if you will lift Him up. Do all diligence to lift Him up right now.
