Ftomilola: I don’t understand we Nigerians sef, which one is “sort of” again smh? Are you trying to hide your class of grade or what? Answer should be YES or NO- I have a first class or I don’t. You were looking for answers here concerning SL and you couldn’t even be transparent about your class of grade, this ain’t cool tbh. By the way, you need your original SL for your interview, so your sponsor has to post it to your from Germany, don’t let your sponsor use anything other than DHL express to avoid loss in transit, few years back, a scanned copy would have suffice as you can always post your original to the embassy when you have it at hand but things are completely different now. NOTE: Your letter must not be older than 6 months as at the time of your interview, on the back of the letter, nachgewiesen must be ticked which translates to all requirements showing your sponsor’s financial credibility has been checked and fulfilled. If nachgewiesen is not ticked on your letter, that is straight up rejection!! PS: if your university is in Hannover and your SL is not from Hannover, be sure that the immigration office in Hannover will contact your sponsor via postal mail to send his documents (3 months pay slip, ID) so they can do thier own credit check again, this is because Hannover is very strict with SL. richy16: Normally I don’t quote posts like this because this is your personal business and I guess you are rich. However, if I was your friend, I will advise against paying 1700 euros per semester without even enjoying the full benefits and whether you will get an appointment or not. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you won’t get an appointment but how long do you wanna continue paying 1700 euros per semester for when the embassy is doing prospective Nigerian students anyhow? I’m sure you saw a post where some guys posted they left Nigeria to Turkey and UAE and spent 6 months there to get a RP and they got a German visa as there are available appointments there and there is nothing like category. Stop giving your 1700 euros per semester to your school with slim chances as per if you get an appointment or not, e dey pain me honestly no matter if you rich or not. With 2000 euros or less, I’m sure you can get a UAE RP, stay there for 6 months or 8 and process all your shit from there. That’s my 2 cents! Peace 3 Likes |

MaryBenn: The issue with appointment at the German Mission Nigeria was not influenced by Nigerians studying here or whatever you might have heard. Fact check, Nigerians aren’t even the highest percentage of students here, also as a student, you are allowed to work 120 full days (6 months full time) and 240 half days (1 year part time- 20 hrs a week). If you exceed the limit which they can know via your taxes from work, you might have problem with your residency. Appointments are available online in Ghana (both cat A and Cat B), Turkey, Cyprus, and some other African countries where students can choose their suitable dates from. The issue with Nigeria is because of the bad situation and governance resulting into citizens finding a way to move out and this is why Germany wants the best.! Why is Ghana not like this? Blame your irresponsible and wicked government and not Nigerian students in Germany. By the way, this appointment issue is the same in Iran, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iraq. 7 Likes |

SammyJenkins: I don’t mean to discourage you but according to the embassy’s criteria for you to be in Cat A. You must have first class with certificate from 2018 up(a German grade of 1 is the equivalent), scholarship, or be going for a PhD. There is no penalty for wrong booking, but getting inside is not guaranteed according to the appointment booking rules on the website. But just go and be nice to drop a feedback here after your interview to help other people for clarifications. 2 Likes |

SammyJenkins: Make sure to have your BA confirmation (funded) before the interview. The fastest way to do this is to look for someone with a euro dorm account (trusted) or if you have one. Get euros from aboki and go to the bank together, deposit it in your euro acct and give the equivalent to aboki, transfer the euro from your dorm account to your fitinba account. You get your fitinba confirmation 24 hrs max. You don’t have to worry about residency in Germany. Get your visa first. By the way, do you have a masters scholarship or you graduated with first class from 2018/2019 ? |

Punkydude: 1. Avoid eastern part of Germany as they are not so open minded. In terms of meeting other Africans. Consider cities like Berlin, Munich(it’s really expensive here), Göttingen, Hamburg. You can’t avoid racism totally, it’s in Germany as it’s in every part of the world, the only place there is no racism is Heaven if you believe there is one. And why do you wanna meet other Africans? I’m not saying it’s not okay but isn’t that like staying in your bubble.? Would you rather not meet people from other continents and get to experience more? For some of our African brothers here, it’s always about the hustle no slacking. Talking about African foods- you must be ready to spend a lot of if you wanna keep eating this as it can be expensive. A little shuffle would be perfect. Food in general (not African) is really cheap here if you know how to cook. It is cold here but not like Canada and the Scandinavian countries. Be prepared for Deep Freezer temp in winter though, enough layers and good winter jack would save you. But it can be really hot in summer in Germany just like Nigeria, for me the good weather is from June till beginning of October. If you need comfortable weather to what is similar in Nigeria, then you should be looking at Spain or Greece but is Nigeria not a cold place already if you know what I mean but you will get used to it trust me.. In bigger cities, they speak more English but to be honest, you need basic German for easier integration into the system but you can live without it. As an IT guy with programming knowledge, you have no problem getting a student job as I.T is a holy grail here. 2. With your grades you can get into any university in Germany. 3. Do your research and check DAAD website for more courses. There are lots of I.T courses here. 4. I think there is a computer science course in University of Gottingen, also TU Köln, check DAAD for more options. 4 Likes |

ghettonews: Okay here is how it works, you need 4-6 before your start date for visa processing, your start date is January 30 (I don’t know how you got that date because resumption is aroundOctober and April except you extended your enrollment deadline). In most cases, embassy don’t give dates when it’s only 4 weeks left to enrollment deadline (start date) except your are for scholarship or PhD. Now you only have 4 weeks left, what to do is to email your school for enrollment extension (try to get end of February or mid March) then book again with the new start date. |

Govkaybee: Call the school. Check the person in charge of your Programme and explain your situation, speak slowly so they can hear you. Tell them the situation at hand and how hard getting an appointment is. They will surely find a solution. Make sure to call in the morning around 8-9am. Also if it’s possible for you to enroll without being there, then pay the enrollment fees, send your enrollment documents to them via courier and get your Studienbescheinigungen, take it with you to the interview. You don’t need enrollment extension if you have already enrolled. For you to enroll, you need health insurance, register with TK or AOK if you ain’t up to 30. In the meantime. You might wanna give details on how you got your appointment so others can see. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello everyone, Apparently it is obvious that the German mission in Nigeria (both Lagos and Abuja) is trying to cut down on numbers of Nigerian students coming to Germany through this strict appointment date process, imagine this happening in Summer 2020 where you have lesser applicants, what will now happen in Winter 2020 where you have more applicants ? i once spoke to a professor at university of Potsdam while making some inquiries about a course and he asked where i come from, i said Nigeria, he laughed and said Nigerians are flooding them with applications. One of the reasons of these appointments issue that i am sure of is because of the massive numbers of applicants from Nigeria (not more than India though). Also, could this problem be a reflection of our bad government ? I can't answer that and maybe partly yes, the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany is clearly useless like his other colleagues. Do you also know that you can study for free at the University of Vienna Austria? Yes you can! but guess what, Nigeria among most African countries is exempted, even Benin, Niger, Angola, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and so on can study in Austria for free. Well, i am still hoping they will drop dates but clearly this embassy new appointment process is not built to give dates like before unlike summer 19 where you can even choose dates yourself, right now, i am sure they have hundreds if not up to a thousand + of study visa appointment requests piled up in their system and they give PhDs, scholarship candidate (EU, DAAD, ERASMUS) more priority because embassy issues visa for scholarship candidates (thats why it takes less than a week for them to get AM). However, i really hope they change this system and return to the old format (this time with all your complete documents including funds) except they have decided to cut us out. Nevertheless, don't sleep on Germany fellas. Another option is to look for schools in Poland or other cheaper EUs, they are way cheap too although not tuition free for all, enter there and cross to Germany if you want, half of polish citizens are in Germany sef. If you really mean business, another good option i would suggest is to go to Ghana (or make inquiries) and get their residence permit or proof of residency and apply for your German visa in Ghana, the Ghanian residence shouldn't be that hard to get that. On the German embassy website in Accra, dates are flowing like water, you get to choose yourself but they can only interviewed you if- as stated on the website "The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Accra is only responsible for applicants who are permanent residents in GHANA, LIBERIA and SIERRA LEONE. The Embassy will NOT accept visa applications of persons who cannot provide evidence that their habitual abode is in one of the aforementioned countries." NB: I am not 100% sure how they do their residency stuff in Ghana for normal residence and permanent. But seriously i really do hope dates drop soon, and they change this booking process, else, it would be worse in Winter 2020. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Happy New Year everybody Wishing all new applicants congratulations in Advance! For simple questions like applications, certifications and so on... Click my profile and go through my post (1-4) you can also put the keywords in the search button of the thread (best way to check key posts). No need of asking all these basic questions. Everything is still the same apart from the appointment booking which is somehow now. It’s best when your enrollment deadline is far away Like April or May TIP: when you get your admission letter, contact your school for enrollment extension, get a proof or a letter from them, when booking appointment, use the new enrollment date. Higher chances of getting appointment is with this method... and this is what my guys did this past semester. It’s not wise to book Mid of January and put February and start of study esp in CAT B. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

dennison4luv: Send your SL (Original and 2 photocopies) to the embassy through courier as soon as you get it even if you live in Lagos. In a place like Schweinfurt in Bavaria, if you go with Block acct opening documents for the interview and let’s say 3 weeks later, you sent your SL, They will start the visa processing again because you changed your means of sustenance, meanwhile enrollment deadline is fast approaching. This happened to my guy and we got to know this rule about Schweinfurt from the email he received from Ariana Evers (AE). So whenever you get your SL, sent it ASAP. No Slacking!! Immafrank: IN ADDITION TO MY PREVIOUS POST Information is Vital here and so is everywhere. What you need/looking for is always somewhere, you just need to connect with the right person/use the right keyword for searching. Some of our 9ja brothers here tend to hide information from their fellow 9jas even though it doesn't stop them from achieving their aim. So i tend to roll with more white people, in most cases, if you don't talk to them, they won't talk to you, so i always shoot first. A Brazilian friend of mine once sent me a job link when i told her i was looking for a part time job, it was a job related to my field and this company was looking for working students to work with some kinda data, no German needed. You will never find the job using google except you visit their website. Unfortunately, i didn't get the job but i was glad i applied as the interview taught me some new lessons on an international level. So don't feel too proud to ask for help/information, you never know the kind of information that fellow is holding. AFTER RESUMPTION for the first semester and registration of courses, you might wanna check the next semester module, talk to students that did the courses in the previous semester to know how far, This is important so you wont go and larimo one professor Albert Einstein especially when the course is not really related to your Bachelor degree. A German student once told me not to choose a particular professor for a course project supervisor, i asked other fellows and they said the same. If you have a knack for programming and you are proficient in Python, Java and JavaScript, you don't know what God has done for you. Also, if you studied something related to Media in Nigeria like Mass Comm, you might wanna check Masters in Media and Communication Science in TU Ilmenau, the application is online (no need to send hard copy docs) and the admission is valid for 2 years but you get to pay application processing fees of 25 euros. For online application for Geoscience courses, you might wanna check University of Bremen. There is masters in Geodetic Engineering at University of Bonn, the program offers 3 specializations, but i think its only for winter application but the application is online. Lastly, i have said this before and i will say it again, new applicants applying to uni assist (Masters), when sending your documents, look for courses in TU Berlin and University of Potsdam and apply there too, both universities are under uni assist but you don't need to pay processing fees as both universities have already covered the cost for their master programs. If you are going to state of Brandenburg particularly University of Potsdam, try and get your Residence permit in Berlin, you get 2 to 3 years, although accommodation might be a problem in Berlin. In Potsdam, you only get 1 year RP, for the second year, they might tell to fund another 9k euros to renew your RP. So make your research well. Your school ID card (either TU Berlin or Uni Potsdam) gives you free transportation that covers for Berlin-Brandenburg including all Trains and local buses., so no issue with Transportation cost. NOTE: if you graduated from Houdegbe North American University Benin Republic, don't bother applying to Germany as your school is not recognized here. 64 Likes 10 Shares |

SOME USEFUL TIPS If you are having doubts about maybe the embassy saw/read your sent e-mails or not in instances like- sending of confirmation of BA, making inquiries concerning visa delay or other inquiries at alien offices of your intended cities. You can use google mailtrack to track your e-mails (Gmail users only), whenever the embassy or any individual read your emails, it will show a double tick and number of times your email was read and a single tick if it has not been read (you get notification for this, you can disable if you want to). http://help.mailtrack.io/customer/en/portal/articles/1385608-installing-mailtrack That is the link to setup google mail track on PC. Note that you have to install google chrome on PC and send the email (gmail) from google chrome but you can check with mobile after sending if it has been read. There are also android mobile set up which i am not very conversant with but for iPhone users, simply download Track - Email Tracking (the app icon is a green capital T ), install and follow up instructions. you can send messages to your friends to test it. Futhermore, for people coming this winter, Buy Jeans in 9ja, there are some good stores in 9ja with good thick jeans, One low quality jean is 29 euros up here, except you are OBO. Budget about 50-100 euros for good and warm winter jacket, I believe the one you are bringing here is just for warm up, when real cold sets in, Omo nobody will tell you to buy correct one lol, gloves and money for winter shoes esp for places that snows heavily, it doesn't really snow in Berlin compared to Munchen. Get ready to buy thick Duvet. Sometimes you have to close eyes and buy good stuffs, and stop converting to naira when you wanna buy stuffs, it helps sometimes. If you are coming around November to December, you have to get some warm wears from 9ja, else you will perish in cold from the airport. Get 2 mouth extension, change your laptop cable to 2 mouth (not the powerpack, you know what i mean), bring bed spread and curtain, clipper, flashdrive, bring flipflops, liquids are not allowed on the plane but some people travelled with palm oil (make sure to tie it very well and wrap it), if you are using BA, come wit about 400-500 before you unblock, if you are using SL, budget about 2k for the first 4 months depending on the city and expenses, remember you start spending euros from the airport. Don't bring unnecessary stuffs like rice, spag, salt, sugar. Bring garri and noodles and condiments like maggi and curry. That temporary warms/hoodie from 9ja is very important. I could remember the day I landed at the airport, before coming out of the plane, This German girl i was talking to from the connecting flight started to bring out her winter jacket, I didn’t know whatsup up then, coming out of the plane, see this mad cold breeze that blew, immediately I started shaking because I was juss wearing a top and a soft sweater, big boy hand drop ASAP, as I was breathing, it was like I was smoking due to the smoke-like air coming from my mouth (I don’t know how else to define, nobody told me the cold was like this). Then the bus that will take us to immigration came, all the irons in the bus was damn cold, I was seriously shaking, I was looking like a rain-beaten cat, this German girl offered me her jacket, unfortunately it was small and feminine. We got our loads, it was a little bit warm inside immigration, after we got out, immediately I open my big box, I brought out two reinforcements (still not enough but okay). Luckily for me, the girl’s mom came dropped me off at the main train station which was about 20 minutes drive from the airport, that saved me some stress. it is always the best when you have somebody to meet you at the airport(like a friend or family in the city you are heading to if it has an international airport). If you have money, there are drops at the airport For Travels and movement in DE: Download the DB Navigator for general travels (Train, buses, Tram, etc.) and if you are coming to Berlin, download the BVG Farhinfo app (its shows you the fastest route and how to navigate easily) along with the DB navigator. I will say google maps is mostly important for directions on short distances and to know durations of long and short distance travels as well. It is important to have mobile internet on your phone if you are new to a place and going out. There is also FlixBus, it is like a subsidized bus travels mainly from cities to cities and to some EU countries. For residence permit- for cities where you have to wait about 1 month before you get your card, and that is after 1-2 months before you get appointment in some cases, and you know you need work to survive, you can ask your RP officer on the day of your appointment to give you a temporary work permit, it is like an A4 paper with all your details including passport photo and it will be stamped, the paper will state that you had applied for a RP and the type of permit you will get including the number of days you can work which is 120 full day or 240 half days in a year. First thing first is to get an accommodation which is a prerequisite for city registration and issuance of a RP. For health insurance, its a 2 way thing, the school will say public health insurance if you are not up to 30 years and private if you are more than 30, my guys not up to 30 years are using Mawista 33 euros monthly and it was accepted. Don't know how they did that but you can make inquiry from your school. TK and AOK is around 107 euros monthly. But public is better than private, if you fall off a bicycle or get hit by a car or have a serious ailment, the public like AOK pays everything but if you are using private, you will pay yourself at first and the private will reimburse some back depending on your insurance subscription with them which you must provide proofs for and trust me, and trust me these treatments are expensive. And lastly, learn the language while you can, in big cities like Frankfurt, Munchen, Berlin, you might not really need it but in small cities, man you mostly need it to get a job at least A2 level. In all, you need the language to be open to more opportunities. if you will be staying in Bremen, Stuttgart, Rastatt or areas closer there or if you have friends living there that you can stay with, you can always apply for vacation job at Daimler Mercedes-Benz, for working students, they pay 15 euros per hour and you get to work 35-39 hours weekly depending on your contract (Do the Math) and you cant combine it with school work, thats why its called vacation jobs. Here is the website for Daimler Mercedes-Benz: https://www.daimler.com/career/job-search/ from position type, click vacation job. For Amazon Job: Amazon.force.com For general job search: de.indeed.com For buying of used stuffs like gadgets, and also job search in your area: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de Use google chrome browser for opening these sites when you get here for auto translations to English. Also, make sure to always check weather reports before going out because the weather is always funny. Android users download The Weather Channel app from play store, it is auto installed on iPhone. When you get in, open N26 bank, one of the best online banks here. Activities are online, no bank branches, Fast and easy, Banking app is in English, its is also free including free ATM cards Downloading of movies, and some games w/ copyright are illegal here, a German bro was fined 13,000 euros for movies download... imagine they fine you that one, you don die be that!! demigod9: Hey, register for any university whose admission has opened and fill their application to generate their application forms. Go to the embassy and get your docs certified. When your preferred school application opens, print their own application form and add it to your already certified application documents (note that the embassy will staple all the documents in 1 set together with each school’s application form), dont tamper with it. Just print your preferred school application form when it opens and put it in the envelope you are sending and write a short note stating you already certified your documents before their application opened and part of the rules to certify a document at the German embassy is to come along with the school’s application form. The school knows this, uni assist knows this, I have done this before with self funded admission and scholarship and it was accepted. About 2 guys on this thread I know have done it before. All the university/uni assist want to see is your signed application form and the embassy’s stamp and comments on your documents which will be at the back of the last paper. Make sure you do 5 sets and bring the remaining to Germany juss Incase you find the first course funny, so you can japa and apply for another admission with your remaining certified docs. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

But you need to register with Berlin Rathaus which means you must have an accommodation in Berlin (not easy to get accommodation in Berlin. Shared room is like 250-300 while single room is like 350 upward depending on the location) another prerequisites for city registration is an enrollment certificate in any university in Berlin and state of Brandenburg. After the city registration, you go to the Auslanderberhorde for your permit. You get 2-3 years. No appointment required. Go there early and get a tag, when it’s your turn, in 20 minutes you are done. With the Aufenthaltserlaubnis, you can travel to 23 European countries... work and study there.
