what is Cbn about to do to BDC that is different from what was enforced on Banks ...the 25m capital base on banks was its gradual, did it kill our banking sector or made it stronger

Lets face the truth, BDCs are expendables but that is like cutting off the North, that they are allowed to exist is enough for "human face"

The same CBN floated the Naira with the slogan "willing buyer and willing seller". Are BDCs not fulfilling this slogan?
I am not against standardising their operations, but this fire-brecade policy with it's high capital investment requirements targeted at turning BDCs to banks with high tech reporting should come in phases and not rushed.
There's a risk to business survival. BDC business is not a taboo business. Its should not be eradicated which this policy is tactical aimed to achieve.
The CBN is well known to blame everyone and everything except itself for the poor performance of the Naira.
The country's economy as it is today is now an ethnic topic, with Yorubas now claiming to love Nigeria more than the other ethnic groups.
CBN's blame sharing might end up doing the Naira more harm than good.
The problem with the falling Naira is not BDCs. You can't operate a debt driven economy and expect your currency to outperform your creditor's.
So this autocratic and toutish approach to economic management to attempt to please citizens is not guaranteed to work, it's simply trial and error.

If I have to explain what high-handedness means or how this policy is high-handed in nature, I am afraid you don't understand anything in the import of the guidelines to the operational setup of BDCs.

Locked up for what crime exactly?
When I opened my dorm account at Union Bank Ekulobia, they refused to sell me the dollars needed, BDC came to the rescue.

When I need to travel, all my banks refused to sell me dollars but were willing to buy from me at the worst possible rates, BDC at Presidential Hotel Ph came to the rescue.

I am in support of this CBN effort to standardise the operation of BDCs but not with a high-handed approach.
This is simply a fire-brecade policy. There's no need for the rush, it should be done in phases and should have a human face. That way, it will succeed and no one will feel targeted.

I know better than complain. Policies that succeed are implemented in phased and incremental basis not in one full sweep like what is detailed in the new CBN guidelines for BDCs.

We are in to much of a hurry to solve decades old rots. Policies are not meant to drive genuine businesses out of business.

If this narrative was actually what happened, the invasive visual examination can be done with or without a local anaesthetic. That way, the doctor knows when patient is in real pain and stops.

Spinal anaesthetic should be for very serious operations like CS especially if cutters are not to be used.

Standard practice is to explain the details of a procedure with the patient and possibly with a family member present, including details of possible complications and risk assessment of the procedure. Doctors must confirm that patient understands the risk involved, that they're in sound mind prior to the operation and that they agree both verbally and in writing by the signing the operation consent form before any procedure is embarked on.

Whether detailed due care was taken by the medical team should be the subject of the investigation.

The guidelines simply aims to drive Northerners out of their own tuff. This regulation by CBN is laughable. Such high handedness will continue to encourage illegal BDCs. This is just using grammar to ask BDCs as we know it to stop operating. Even in developed economics, changes are introduced in stages not to lump everything together and make it cumbersome for business people. This adminstration is desperate to prove they are working but their actions are that of a paranoid and power drug authocrat.
This policy has no human face, is targeted at provoking legitimate businesses to close shop and might still achieve little or nothing

This sort of madness is unprecedented!

I refused to believe this when I say it on Facebook, hoping it was some mistake but it's seems to be the unfortunate reality.

Barrister Victor was my friend, we both lived in Okigwe before I left the country for good, for fear of my own life. We would usually hang out after work each day for a few bottles and banters at a beer parlour or hotel.

It also your God given responsibility to provide for your family their physical, spiritual and emotional needs, including making sure they are in good mental state.

If you do the above and more, your wife will respect and adore you. Your children will obey and bring you joy, peace and happiness.

As a sales manager in Nigeria, I have on record that I treated all my subordinates humanely. Did only permit sick leaves but cared to ensure they got good treatments before resuming. No body who worked under lost his job because they were sick.

The worst I will do is insist you provide evidence of being sick if I suspected truancy.

Here in the UK, you get minimum a week sick leave without a job evaluation beyond which you might be required to get a doctor report and might also get a work evaluation but your job security is given priority most of the times.

And you can report to work late as much as you give an hour's notice to your manager of a good reason to report to work late. You don't need to be at work when sick, how do would even do the job.

As an Abian myself, I am safer on the streets of Umuahia without Kanu in town.
