I had similar experience of elevator free fall while I was inside at a Hotel in Lagos, can't remember the name now.

I was inside when a power outage occurred and the elevator fell from third floor to the ground floor.

It felt like I took a jump from a three floor height. Power was restored quickly and I came out and used the stairs. I stopped using the elevator.

The hotel is opposite a rail station in Lagos.

Mainland Hotel Lagos.

Fides newspaper own by Catholic Church is more acceptable and more reliable than the so called national light, even the one owned by the Umuchu billionaire is widely spread

So making people with responsibilities to themselves and others unemployed sounds a brilliant idea to you folks? Did I say he shouldn't shutdown the place? But that news article gave no indication the government had plans to keep the redundant employees employed. There can never be a justification for making anyone unemployed.

Can only happen in Nigeria. Otti was happy to sack some persons few weeks ago because he claimed they're were illegally employed by the past administration.

I find it particularly irritating when we try to copy Brits and their selfish way of life. 80% of marriages here end in a divorce and all 100% of divorced couple address their spouses as 'Partner'.

What has happened since he came to office is that his online soldiers are busy singing his praises and insulting Igbos. To them, the mere fact that he is alive means he is working.

For me, it too early to reach a conclusion or judgement. However early signs are not good and not promising.

I can only say like every human government, he rule will be largely injurious to the common man.

By the way, no one might do better. Nigeria's decay is deep, a result of several years of rot. To believe anyone will have a magical effect and undue or rollback this rot in even 4 years is wishful thinking. It's easier to keep deepening the rot than to undo it.

Question for you: were you likely married to this your 'partner' in Nigeria before relocating?

Because here where marriage is a casual affair, people of the mid-age and younger generation use the term Partner instead of spouse, husband or wife.

If you are a legally married Nigerian couple but chose to use the term 'Partner' for you spouse, I find that particularly offensive and disrespectful.

This makes me remember witnessing one of such burial in absentia somewhere in Onuimo LGA of IMO State.

The story was similar, the man being away for many donkey years without contact and the family believes he is dead and so should be buried.

You shouldn't blame a Nigerian who prefers "the abroad" than Nigeria.

I am happier living here in the UK than Nigeria because unlike people in the UK, Nigerian have no faith, no confidence in the government and it's institutions. The government on the other hand do not care to build confidence in their citizens but are exploitative and oppressive.

Worst is the known fact that Nigeria and Nigerians are corrupt to the superlative degree. Since law and order are selective, money and the rich worshipped and a wide disparity exist between the rich and the poor, situations like the ones you listed will only continue.

In fact, I have got better things to do than discuss Nigeria!
