The way you guys always try to make it look like Biafra of a thing is a devil still makes me wonder.

Yeah, some people believed that Biafra is the only option for them, where inclusive government will be best practice, where at least the president of thier nation can be able to speak thier language fluently at least in their lifetime (which is a very good thing)

They saw it in Obi also coupled with his competence and has to give him full support.

So any other bullshit you are scanning from it is your business!!

Gbadebo Rhodes Vivor speaks very fluent Ibo, eligible to Preside over Biafra.

5 points to make here.

1. Naptu, again, thank you brother for educating citizens on these rare finds. This is a very good public information piece. God bless you!

2. To the person wondering about Babangida's roots. Information about his parents and early childhood are shrouded in mystery. He is definitely from two closely related ethnic groups. He is certainly NOT HAUSA, though he speaks a version of Hausa far from the Kano or Zaria dialect, both of which are organic tongues of Hausa people. There are hints in his given names to help trace roots.

Ibrahim is generic semitic name and came from him being muslim.

Badamasi is actually Gbadamọsi, a Yoruba name. In the Northern lexicon, "gb" does not exist, and "ọ" is pronounced as "a". So Gbadamọsi is reconstructed to become Badamasi. No other ethnicity or tribe in Africa uses Gbadamosi or versions of it, like Badamasi, beside the Yoruba.

Babangida is a Hausa given name and significant for first son in a family. Because generally Hausa is a lingua-franca of North, even people that are not Hausa often borrow from the culture.

3. Why did Babangida use President for title. When he first took power I believe he did so as Head of State but later adopted President.

I am not certain of the reason, and what I say here is anecdotal, not a known fact. It is plausible though considering other arrangements and drives made by maradona to succeed himself, that he had adopted that title as part and parcel of the strategy to transition from uniform to civilian clothe without leaving the office of Commander in Chief. Just my thoughts, I have no fact to back it up.

4. To the person that said Kano people detested and hated Abacha. Incorrect!

You may have served in Kano, but you are not intimate with the political and traditional affairs of Kano. I will skip giving too much info on this point. In Nassarawa GRA in Kano metro there is a place often referred as layin beriberi. That is, beriberi (Kanuri) line. It is a short street but here are few of the names of people that own mansions on that street.
- Alhaji Waziri, a former presidential candidate in times of Awo and Shagari dem.
- Alhaji Monguno
- Alhaji Dipcharima
- Alhaji Kyari
- General Abacha

When any of them are in town, Kanuri cultural drummers bring their tambari drums and knights from Emir Ado Bayero (rest in peace) palace would mount on horseback all way from Gidan Makama to layin beriberi to deliver good tidings.

It is far from true to say Abacha was not loved by Kano people. In fact he was an adopted son of Kano people.

5. Lagos status, what is the truth? It all has to do with jurisdiction.

There is Eko Federal, there is Eko Ile, there is Lagos, and there is Lagos State. grin. I will tell what each one is.

A
Eko Federal consists of colonial land holdings that passed on to Nigeria when colonial rule ended. At the signing of Lagos Treaty in 1860, all lands were defaulted into crown deeds. The Idejo Chiefs, represented by their leader Olumegbon, refused to recognize Oba Dosunmu's transfer of territorial domains to foreigners. This remained a contention until 1942 when Chief Oluwa contested rights of English Crown to free lands in Lagos. The defaults were reversed and instead became leases. All the domains that made up Eko Federal belonged to six families - Oluwa, Aromire, Oniru, Onikoyi, Ojora, Oloto.

The following modern areas is what was known as Eko Federal - Apapa, Ijora/Iganmu, Iddo, Marina, Olowogbowo, Broad Street (formerly Yakubu Gowon Street), down to CMS, Odan (now Tafawa Balewa Square), to King George VII, across McGregor, Keffi, Awolowo Road, Dodan Barracks, Ikoyi, VI, back to FPH, across Independence bridge to return to Marina. If you are familiar with Lagos you will recognize this is a loop. There is history behind why Apapa, Ijora, Iddo were part of Eko Federal. I will touch on this very briefly.

Apapa, Ijora, Iddo were industrial/trading posts...or mercantile outposts to be specific.
Ships used to berth at Iddo Right across the Iddo train station on the lagoon, used to be a port for small vessels. This was discontinued and converted to waste management depot. For a long time there were rail tracks (discontinued) that ran the length from Iddo terminus to the port on the lagoon. Marina (Quay side) was for ships. After Apapa deep port was completed, quay side was relocated to Apapa. Leventis Brothers, a major retailer, GB Ollivant, and couple of Asian merchants, like PZ, Chewalrams, and so on operated in Ijora, Iddo and Apapa. The treaty of Lagos gave certain waivers to how foreigners would be treated under the Lagos customary laws. Hence, foreigners situate businesses on lands under colonial holdings.

B
Eko Ile consists of Idejo domains where the jurisdiction of customary courts were in effect.
Simply put, this will be entire Lagos Island if you minus Eko Federal.

The combination of Eko Federal and Eko was called Lagos Island. This has been further segmented into new areas but certain traditional domains remain organic.

C
Lagos. This is expansion beyond Eko Federal and Eko into border areas with Western Nigeria.

Western Nigeria started at places like Mushin, Ilupeju, Oshodi, Mafoluku, Ikeja, Ketu, Agege, and so on.

All developed places between Lagos Island and Western region are now called Lagos Mainland. Expansions like Surulere, Iganmu, Ajegunle, Yaba, Sabo, Palmgrove, Akoka, and so on.

So when people in the territory of Western region would say they are going to Lagos they are referring to the combination of Island and Mainland.

D
Certain regions were taken from the administration of Western region and consolidated into new administrative...or native authority jurisdictions.

Now we speak of IBILE - Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos, Epe. IBILE is Lagos State.

In summary -
Eko Federal + Eko Ile = Lagos Island

Expanded territories bordering Western region = Lagos Mainland

Lagos Island + Mainland = Lagos

All above + reclaimed territories from Western region = IBILE

IBILE = Lagos State.

*Almost all HEADQUARTERS of Most companies are in Lagos.
*Airports and Seaports are in Lagos.πŸ™
*Almost all the BIG Celebrities live in Lagos
*Most Big Markets are in Lagos. πŸ˜•

With such ADVANTAGES ,why should the Blue Rail be Celebrated?
With the Huge Taxes and High Revenue the State Generates Monthly, why should we celebrate Lagos?😏

And Why should any Lagos Governor be Celebrated?πŸ˜’

Lagos is like Real Madrid. Real Madrid fans do NOT celebrate any Coach that wins them UEFA champions league.
It's NORMAL to them, given the Huge Resources they invest on Players! sad

It is Arsenal, Inter Milan, Athletico Madrid, etc that will Celebrate, Idolize or build a Statue for a coach that wins them the UCL. πŸ™‚

It is NORMAL for a Any Lagos Governor to do well because of it's Position in Nigeria.

I Say this because APC goons claim Bola Tinubu was better than Peter Obi as Governor.πŸ˜•

Can Anyone compare Anambra and Lagos?

What Resources or Big Companies are in Anambra?πŸ˜’πŸ™

If Tinubu would have FAILED WOEFULLY if governed Anambra. And HE Peter Obi performed Creditably well in the state. 😊😊

So Plz, All the OverHype should STOP.

And NO Lagos Governor should be Overhyped. They will be Probably Average or even Poor if you take them to Taraba, Benue or Edo.πŸ™

AGREE OR DISAGREE? πŸ€”πŸ™‚

Mynd44 my man.
Take to FP. Let's discuss further.
Thanks. smiley

Oyo State, Kano State, Kaduna State, these places do not have seaports or corporate headquarters but enjoy social progress facilitated by infrastructural development. So your point is irrelevant and absurd, quite unconnected to reality.

But if we recall, in a BBC interview after Chatham house outing, he said he made his money from real estates his parents left for him.

Why the inconsistencies?

You should share with Obi so they can file briefs to petition court and disqualify Tinubu. A President should not say one thing today and say something different tomorrow.

Obi would never do that. Obi is man of integrity. grin

Adekolaelect,
I wondered myself what constituted "obstacles" in the way of convincing the Tribunal that LP was cheated at the polls. Obi created his own blockages when he abandoned materials pertinent to election and went looking for drug and criminal records in America. That guy Hundeyin led him down the wrong path.

Hundeyin was the one telling Obi that Tinubu had criminal records and should go after it to disqualify him. Same guy told Atiku that Bola A. Tinubu was a female.

They cannot introduce new elements into their appeal at Supreme Court. They are going to chase same bullsheet that Tinubu is a convict and his University diploma was purchased....and the Justices at Supreme Court will tell them same thing Justice Odili said last week.

Fellow citizens of Nigeria, and my brothers and sisters here in Nairaland, please....compare below statements of Peter Obi and that of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Both of them are affected by the same judgement but you can see a reckless and unpatriotic statement from Obi in comparison with Atiku's patriotic hope resting on the belief of a greater outcome to the nation even while counting losses of a lifetime ambition.

How a Biafran think versus how a Nigerian thinks. There it is for you to see and appreciate.

I didn't make these up.

From Obi....
Speaking through his team of lawyers led by Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, Obi, said: β€œIf we are not careful, our electoral jurisprudence will eventually disappear. I am saying this with every amount of sincerity because when the litigant, when those that contested election continue to find it very difficult to establish their case due to obstacles on the way, starting by INEC, certainly they may resort to some other means of trying to get justice, which may not be lawful .

From Atiku...

As you already know, I approached the court following the declaration by INEC that the APC and its candidate are the winners of the February 25, Presidential Election.

My decision to go to court is anchored in my belief that the court is the sanctuary of justice. The journey of my political career, as you know, holds so much to the courage and fearless decisions of our judiciary.

Indeed, I am no stranger to legal battles, and I can say that I have a fair idea of how the court system works. All through my career as a politician, I have been a fighter, and I must say that I have found the judiciary as a worthy pillar to rest on in the pursuit of justice.

I don't know that.

INEC, by law, announces who wins election.

When losers are unsatisfied with the announcement, by law, they file petition with a tribunal court.

Tribunal court weighs all submissions, by law, it gives judgement on the merit of case.

This is a lawful country. To propose another way of living is to say you want lawlessness in Nigeria.

I don't believe the Commander in Chief will appreciate that.

Statements like this give life to obidients that threatened to establish parallel government immediately after President was inaugurated, and followed that up aggresively with call for military coup.

I have said repeatedly and many times been banned by Nairaland moderators, look, it does not matter who you pick as a model to study the outcome is always a uniform result. Under the Ibo socio-political existence orderliness is a deficit. What Obi said here about using alternative but lawless avenue to get justice is consistent whether you are talking to Aditchie, Kalu, Obi..Achebe, Ojukwu.....or ordinary spare part shop trader on the street. They all think and ct same way and their element of comfort is lawlessness and disorder.

In Lagos, if the market union is headed by non-Ibo, the ibos in that market will plot and set up a alternative union just for them and attempt to usurp powers from the organic traders union. In fact they will display insurbodination and become belligerent to the non-ibo leadership.

We witnessed their clash many times on this account at different markets. In Akure, their orderliness and disrespect for authority carried far into the King's palace where their Eze received an utmost public humiliation.

The only way they learn is for the authority to bare its fangs and deal with them.

With this statement, Obi is calling for self help.....meaning, an alternative rulership and leadership.

PEPT has affirmed Tinubu as President, justice has been delivered, and all Nigerians now have one Leader and one Authority. Anyone calling for an alternative justice and leadership is no different than spare part traders that defy proxy authority and leadership with intent to shunt social order.

With this new outrage post tribunal ruling, Tinubu ought to issue riot act to Peter Obi.

Atiku spent 3 decades and yet has not learnt to politik and strategize. If Alhaji had won he would run Nigeria same way he has run and failed at his ambition repeatedly....like a wawa!

Obi was used, strategically by Tinubu, to de-market Atiku and PDP. He will never admit to it because he is bluntly naive and could not see the mosquito perched on his nose and sucking blood out of his veins. Tinubu floated NNPP. Watch what I say here, very soon Kwankwaso will reunite with Ganduje and embrace APC, along with his comrades.
Tinubu even used himself to clown and do skits, and Obi failed to discern the deception.

Anyway, bye bye to both Atiku and Obi.

For an Ibo President, look forward to Prof Soludo. Ekweremadu would have been a good candidate but his conviction will not make him eligible.

Atiku can return to Dubai, but good people should please remind Obi that London will still deport if he tries entry.

Both of them should call and congratulate President Tinubu, and it would not be a bad idea at all to be at airport to receive their President back from India.

Me i don talk my own.

During a past FIFA World Cup tournament hosted by South Africa, the world was introduced to an audibly loud instrument called vuvuzela. Some found it discomforting and wore ear muffs or plugs to drown out its noise.

Well, in our 2023 election in Nigeria the world was introduced to an irritant noise called obidients. Many people found the mob insane and disorderly, and to sustain orderliness in their lives and space they abandoned social media and stayed away altogether by suspending their facebook, X account and instagram.

I join you to say, may this covid scourge called obidient never be witnessed by humanity ever again.
