In Him we are empowered to love faithfully, romantically, deeply and everlastingly. Without Him, the best of human love will bring disappointment and heartbreak. For your info, I married the love of my life...blessed with two boys and 10 years gone, the love we share by God's grace is deeper and stronger. Of course, we'd have our far share of misunderstandings and quarrels, but rooted in God, He refreshes our hearts. Like a stream that derives its source from a river, our love has not dried up. Our home is like an oasis in this desert world of sin. I pray you will discover God, so that you'll know true love. |
Life has been described as a school and that we all are students with our daily challenges, trials and temptations constituting the tests and examinations that we take. No wonder Jesus says in Revelation 22:11 "Behold I come quickly and my reward (Report Card) is with me to give to everyone according to his work. Life can also be described as a battle. Here the Bible admonishes us to put on the whole armour of God because we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:11-12. In addition, life has been referred to as a journey. We're all pilgrims passing through this earth. (Hebrew 11:13) But my favourite analogy of what life is, is that LIFE IS A RACE. ".... let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Hebrew 12:1. This description of life as a race, reminds me of what happened in one of our inter house sports, back in my Secondary school. It was a 1,500 metres marathon race where the runners had to run round the field three and a half times. To our pleasant surprise, our representative took of in a dash, as the bell signalled the start of the race. I was happy, excited and then delirious with joy, as our rep kept increasing his lead and running pretty fast. Then after the first lap, he slowed then, but was still leading comfortably... At the end of the second lap however, he was so slow that he was literally walking! Meanwhile, the other contestants were closing the gap. I remember jumping up and down along with others, shouting.."Run! Run!! They are coming!!! Then the unexpected happened! Our guy stopped running and fell down just at the end of the third lap! I was besides myself with worry. Together with our house members, we shouted and shouted..." get up! Get up!! " but he would not. Then we started begging him, "please, please. ..pleaaaasseee! Get up, but Uche refused to get up, until all the other runners over took him. He did not even complete the race. When he eventually got up, he said " Una won kill me, abi? My heart wan cut" LIFE IS A MARATHON RACE Whenever I remember that race, it becomes clear to me that life is a Marathon race and not a 100 metre dash. Paul therefore advises us to "run with patience the race that is set before us " - Hebrew 12:1, and Jesus says, " He who endures to the end, the same shall be saved " Matthew 24:13. This race therefore requires PATIENCE AND ENDURANCE. Another obvious requirement for this race we all are in is TRAINING. You may run a 100m race without training, but you can never run a marathon race successfully without adequate training. Paul says, do you not know that all who strive to win discipline themselves? And that he keeps his body under discipline and control, so that he will not fall by the way side. 1 Cor 9:25-27. The Los Angeles Olympic Games of 1984, saw the great American athlete, Carl Lewis equalled Jesse Owens record of 4 gold medals won in Berlin 1936 Olympic. A record that stood for most 50 years!He won 4 gold medals in 100m, 200m, 4 x 100m and long jump. Asked about the secret of his success, he said in addition to training, he had the lightest spike ever worn by any athlete. This made him as light as possible. We cannot run this race of life burdened by the heavy weight of sin. We cannot have malice in our hearts, unforgiving spirit, commit fornication, adultery, steal, lie, etc and expect to win the prize that awaits us. The Bible again tells us to lay aside every weight of sin, so that we can run this race successfully. Hebrew 12:1 The last day of the Athletic Event in The All African Games held in Kenya in 1987, saw Nigeria and Kenya in a neck- to-neck battle for the third position, with Egypt and Tunisia already occupying the 1st and 2nd position respectively. With both Countries tied up at 22 gold medals, each needed to win the event to take 3rd. The Nigerian team was led by Innocent Egbunike, Henry Amike and two others whose name I cannot remember. The race started very well for Nigeria with our first and second runners leading but hotly pursued by the Kenyans. Then disaster struck. We made a mistake in the exchange of baton between the 3rd and 4th runner and the battle fell! A gasp of horror and despair went up from the Nigerian contingent and supporters... In seconds, the other runners whizzed by... then somehow Innocent Egbunike picked up the baton and a hot pursuit ensued, this time from the last position. At about 300m to go, he caught up and passed the 7th and 6th runners and the 5th and 4th runners by the 200m...remaining the front three runners. At about 80m to go, he passed the 3rd and 2nd runner...leaving the front Kenya runner. Will he be able to catch up with the Kenya runner? The whole stadium was silent with tension, even the Nigerian supporters who ought to be cheering Innocent on. You could hear a pin drop! Then at just about 10m to go, Innocent caught up with the Kenya runner but could not pass him... It became a "ding dong" with neither willing to give up... They continue to the finishing line, where Egbunike in a last ditch effort push put his neck and head, beating the Kenyan runner by less than 2 seconds! Perhaps, you've dropped your baton somewhere along the line. Please don't give up. Pick it up! If a man falls down, will he not get up? the Bible says "For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again... " Or maybe you're running out of patience and getting tired... The Lord promises to renew your strength and refresh you, so that you can run and not get tired! Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:30-31 Maybe, you're busy running after other things that will perish while neglecting eternal life... Or you're so busy with the cares and necessities of life, you've lost sight of God and eternity... All the great athlete I've mentioned regardless of their accomplishments, only pursued a perishable crown.... But we an imperishable. 1 Cor 9:25 And every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. This life and death race requires our utmost commitment and FOCUS. We cannot afford to be distracted by anyone else or anything. JESUS is not only the author, but the FINISHER of our FAITH. Hebrew 12:2 Let us remember that they're spectators looking at us (Compassed about with so great a cloud of witness) both seen and unseen, and so run this race faithfully, drawing strength and power from God. Unlike the worldly race, anyone who completes this race will get a crown of LIFE. - Rev 2:10 The world and all that is in it is passing away, but he that does the will of God will live forever. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all our faithful God will add all other things you need. It is my prayer that at the end of our race, we can say like Paul 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my RACE, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Tim 4:7-8 May this be our experience in Jesus name. |

Climate change or global warming as it is sometimes called, is the change in weather conditions resulting in the increase of the earth temperature. This is due to the increasing depletion of the earth’s ozone layer caused by gas flaring, bush burning, carbon monoxide emissions, industrial waste chemicals, population growth and human activities amongst others. As a result, the ice-caps at the Antarctic regions of the earth are melting, leading to rising sea levels and record levels flooding. Other effects of this climate change includes heat waves, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions and other extreme weather conditions. In addition, the increase in amount of ultraviolent rays reaching the earth have led to increases in skin cancer, eye cataracts, genetic, immune system damage, etc. The summary is that we are facing a climate crisis that threatens our very existence and unless urgent drastic measures are taken, we will all be in trouble soon. It is this concerns and the need to avert a collective human disaster that has driven the emergent and fast growing “Green Economy.” By “Green economy” we mean all the activities connected with adopting friendlier environmental practices and sustainable developments. Examples includes: *Climate change education, training, public awareness, public participation and access to information * The gradual replacement of fuel with electricity and natural gas so as to cut down on carbon emissions. *Adoption of alternative source of energy…Solar, wind, hydro, etc *Reduction in gas flaring and setting of legal limits for industrial air pollution. These and many others are contained in the Paris Climate Agreement signed by over 190 countries of the world in 2015 under the framework of the United Nations. CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUNDAY LAW The foremost advocate for climate change is POPE FRANCIS. He has become a moral force mobilising statesmen, presidents, environmentalist, religious leaders, scientist, etc. in adopting measures aim at safeguarding our planets. In his latest encyclical, (A letter from the Pope explaining his teachings) he blamed human greed and selfishness for damaging the planet. He called on richer countries of the world to make changes in lifestyle and energy consumption, in order to avert the unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem. But behind this concern for the environment, lies a subtle motive of world domination, expressed in this case, in the promulgation of a universal SUNDAY LAW, that will make rest and WORSHIP on SUNDAY COMPULSORY. Earlier this month, while lamenting the slow pace of progress towards combating climate change, the Pope called for the formation of a ‘Supranational’ body that will enforce climate change measures. The following reasons have been put forward by the papacy and others as the reasons while a UNIVERSAL SUNDAY LAW should be made compulsory. 1. A weekly Sunday Sabbath which will amount to 52 days in a year, will mean abstaining from any economic or commercial activities. This will go a long way in protecting the environment by reducing the pollution that results from such activities. 2. A weekly compulsory Sunday rest day, will promote and enhance family life/values as parents will be able to spend quality time with their families. 3. A Sunday Sabbath will enable man to appreciate the spiritual aspects of life, redirecting his soul away from materialistic pursuits that does not offer peace or happiness. 4. A weekly universal Sabbath rest (Sunday) will restore the dignity of labour by recognising workers’ rights to balance living. 5. A universal enforceable Sunday law will help safeguard our environment , thus promoting a common good for everyone 6. It will meet with divine favour in obedience to God’s commandments that recommends a day of rest for mankind 7. Factor into our DNA is the need for a weekly rest by our Creator. (Rev 13:8,12,15, Rev 14:7,9). The reason God alone is deserving of WORSHIP is that He is our CREATOR. (Ps 95:5-6, 100:3, Jer 10:10-11, Rev 4:11) To mark, celebrate or commemorate this fact, the Lord instituted the SABBATH on the seventh day at creation. Thus, while God upholds the Seventh-day SABBATH (SATURDAY) as proof of His CREATORSHIP and hence rightful claim to WORSHIP, the devil, through the beast upholds the opposite – the first day of the week (SUNDAY), a counterfeit Sabbath as the MARK of her authority! A UNIVERSAL SUNDAY LAW is therefore the MARK of the BEAST, of which the God warns us in the strongest language possible. Says Rev 14:9-10 “…if anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or in his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation.” This is a difficult message to preach and I would ordinarily not do so as I have friends, neighbours, colleagues, well-wishers, etc. caught up in this fatal error. I wouldn’t want to offend them. But motivated by a sense of love and urgency, I dare not keep quiet. Rather than be angry at me, we should be angry at the enemy of our soul who seek to destroy us even through the instrumentality of our churches. Such is the craftiness of the devil that he has transform himself appearing to be an “angel of light”, but working with all “deceivableness of unrighteousness.” (2 Cor 11:14, 2 Tim 2:10) The Roman Church has contributed immensely to education, arts and culture, care for the less privilege many other noble pursuits. There are many in the Church and others too, who are worshipping God on Sunday out of the sincerity of their hearts and according to the limit of their knowledge. The Lord answers their prayers, accepts their worship and calls them “my people”. And because they are His, they will listen to His voice and come out of this false worship. “Come out of her my people” is the loving cry of the Lord before it is too late…that you partake not in her plagues and certain destruction, for the time has come when they that worship the Lord MUST worship Him “in SPIRIT and in TRUTH. “ (John 4:24) Let me at this point say that none has received the mark of the beast. However, when the universal Sunday law is passed, howsoever shall obey the law, will receive the mark of the beast. We need not fear, for the Lord is able to save to the uttermost all who called on Him. “Lo, I am with you even to the end of time, says the Lord. “And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” Rev 12:11 I invite you friends to take your stand with the Lamb. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Ask God for the power of the Holy Spirit so that His character can be reproduced in our lives, and the righteous requirements of his law, shall be fulfil in our lives, because we walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. It is my earnest prayer that by God’s grace, you and your family shall be numbered among the saved that will gain the victory of the beast and her mark. “The saints who keep the commandment of God and have the faith of Jesus.” Rev 14:12 |
Stick to your vision... I assume you've a vision of what you want to do with your life . Don't let anyone pressurise you into marrying a woman you don't love. Two can only walk together if they agree. When you eventually marry, make sure the person share your vision or passion. I'm surprised at the ultimate they gave you. It's totally wrong and unacceptable. As for relocating to Nigeria, it depends on if you're determined to weather the difficulty. Poor power supply and infrastructure as well as access to finance. I will advice you have your own funds. Make sure you have a detailed and realistic business plan. Keep in mind that you are not likely to break even in the first two years... How will you cope? That said, Nigeria is a land of green opportunities. Returns on investment are fantastic if you can survive the harsh beginning. That said, make sure you have a backup plan. I advice you visit, spend some time and have a feel of what you're coming in for, before deciding. The choice is yours. Best wishes. |

HOLY SPIRIT : QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS - Part 2. QUESTION 6. WHAT EXACTLY IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES? BACKGROUND (Acts 2:1-13) "1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. 12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? 13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine." From the above, we can extract the following " 1. The disciples were in one accord, studying, praying. 2. They were all Galilean speaking Jews. 3. People came from all over the world. Nigeria for example. 4. When the Holy Spirit descended on them, they started telling of God's wonderful works in the various earthly languages of those around 5. They were understood by those around who came from all over the world. NOTE: The purpose of the Holy Spirit in the day of Pentecost was to break the communication barrier by enabling the disciples to preach the gospel to those who came from afar, so that they can take the good news with them to their various places. Recall that the Lord had earlier told them to "tarry" in Jerusalem until they receive power from the Holy Spirit, so that they can carry the good news starting from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the world. Acts 1:8. "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Mark 16:17 "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;" The tongues (languages) spoken by the disciples were not ecstatic meaningless gibberish that characterize most speaking in 'tongues' today. IT WAS THE AUTOMATIC ABILITY TO SPEAK OTHER LANGUAGES SO AS TO ENABLE THEM FULFILL THE COMMISSION TO PREACH THE MESSAGE ALL OVER THE WORLD Note also that other believers received the gift of speaking in tongues just as the disciples had. Acts 10:44-47 "While Peter was speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles. A real life story I read of will suffice. A preacher went to Spain for a crusade. He was the guest speaker and so needed an interpreter as he could only speak English. So whenever he says something, the interpreter will interpret... It got to a point when he said something, the interpreter said nothing, so he repeated himself thinking his partner did not hear him clearly. Again the interpreter kept quiet... Then he asked the interpreter why he's not interpreting?. .. But the interpreter said but "Sir, you are speaking our language so there's no need." In Paul's day, some believers were already abusing this gift, by breaking into tongues at meetings to the consternation of those who could not understand. So Paul advised "If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let HIM KEEP SILENT IN CHURCH, and let him speak to himself and to God. " - Acts 14:27-28 Verse 33 says for " God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.. " QUESTION: So where did the popular modern day speaking in tongues come from? QUESTION 1. WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT? BEING OR FORCE? ANS: The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Godhead. He is as much a person as the Father and Son. He was actively involved with the Father and Son, in the creation, incarnation of Jesus and is actively involved in the redemption of mankind. The Holy Spirit is a being. He feels love and empathy and therefore can COMFORT us. Our actions can make Him sad - grieve Him. As God knowing all, He's omniscient. (See Gen 1:2, Is 66:1, Luke 1:35, Jn 14:16-18, 1Jn 1:5-7) QUESTION 2. WHAT ARE THE DUTIES OR FUNCTIONS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? ANS: 1. He convict (reprove) us of sin, righteousness and judgement. He fills us with POWER for witnessing (Acts 1: ![]() QUESTION 3. WHAT IS BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT OR THE UNPARDONABLE SIN? ANS: 1. When we deny the power of the Holy Spirit but instead attribute the workings of the Holy Spirit to a devilish power, we're in danger of this sin (Mark 3:28-29) 2. The perpetual, constant resisting of the drawing love of God’s Spirit, so much so that you lose the capacity to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice. The conscience becomes seared (1 Timothy 4:2). This deadly blasphemy is also called “grieving away” the Holy Spirit. Paul refers to “Grieve not the Holy Spirit, wherewith you are sealed,” meaning we can permanently grieve away the Spirit. Eventually, a person loses the capacity to repent, and therefore cannot be saved. It is for this sin that a person cannot be forgiven, because they have rejected the Spirit that convicts of sin (John 16: . So if we still feel convicted of sin and have the desire to repent, then we have probably not committed the unpardonable sin. (See also Hosea 4:6, Rev 22:11)QUESTION 4: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FRUIT AND THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? ANS: The fruit of the Spirit are character traits that manifest in a believer's life as a result of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the person. There are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance (self control). Matt 7:16, 20. Jn 15:4,5 and 8. Gal 5:22-23. The gifts of the Spirit on the other hand, are special endowments given to the believer to help establish him or her in faith and for the edification of the Church. They include: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healings, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, different kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Rom 1:11, 1 Cor 12:4-11, 28-31. So while fruit are character or behavioural changes in the life of the believer, gifts are spiritual endowment given to the believer to be established in the faith and to edify the church. This is called the #Sabbath_Day in the storyline (Luke 23:56). #SPECIAL_NOTES: (a) When they buried Christ in the tomb on the *Preparation Day* #Friday (Luke 23:53), the *Sabbath* #Saturday was approaching (Luke 23:54). (b) On the *Sabbath day,* #Saturday the disciples and the women #RESTED in obedience to the Commandment (Luke 23:56). The #Commandment here clearly refers to the one in Exodus 20:8-11; Leviticus 23:3; Deuteronomy 5:12-15. History, the Bible says would repeat itself. As the battle between God and Satan approaches its climax, the issue of worship will once again assume centre stage. Earthly powers will “…cause the earth and those who dwells in it to WORSHIP the first beast…As many as would not WORSHIP the image of the beast should be killed.” “All who dwell on earth will WORSHIP him, (The beast) whose names have not been written in the book of Life” Revelation 13: 8, 12 & 15 On the other hand, God calls us to fear and give glory to Him because we are in judgement hour and to “WORSHIP Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters” Revelation 14:7. He warns us that “If any man WORSHIP the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God. Revelation 14:9, 10. Satan desires above every other thing to be worshipped as God. Recall that not content with his exalted position as the first among the covering cherub, he corrupted his wisdom by reason of his beauty. His heart was lifted up with pride and thus desired the worship due only to God as creator. “I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north…I will be like the most high” Isaiah 14:13-14. And in the wilderness, after showcasing the kingdoms of this world and all its glory before Jesus, he said “All these will I give You, if You will fall down and WORSHIP me.” Matthew 4:9 But over and over again, the Bible tells us that the reason God alone is worthy of our worship is because He is our Creator. As the psalmist tells us, “O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” – Ps 95:6. Jeremiah tells us “Jehovah is the true God, he is the living God…God made the earth by his power, and he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding” Paul introduced this “unknown God” whom the Athenians ignorantly worshipped as the Creator of the world, (Acts 17:23-24) and Revelation 4:11, the basis for the popular song, “Thou art worthy” says “Thou art worthy, o Lord, to receive glory and honour and power; for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure and they are and were created. ”The point is, God is primarily worthy of our worship because he is our Creator. All other gods are not God because they did not create. - “The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.”Jer. 10:11 . To commemorate (mark, remember) the fact that he is our CREATOR, and thus worthy of our worship, Jehovah instituted the Sabbath at the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, before the entrance of sin. “By the Seventh day, God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the Seventh day, he rested from all his work. And God blessed the Seventh day and made it holy…” Divine providence foresaw the possibility of man forgetting and wandering after other gods, and rationalizing his actions by diverse theories of origin. Therefore, God commanded in the clearest possible language to “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy” Why? “For in six days Jehovah made heavens and the earth…therefore he blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” Exodus 20: 8 & 11. In other words, God says do not forget to keep the Sabbath day, so that you will always know that I am God, your Creator. To argue that the Sabbath day have been abolished therefore is to insinuate that God is no longer the creator! Q. Are you saying that the Sabbath and worship are connected? A. Of course they are. God says we should keep the Sabbath because He is our Creator, and He alone is worthy of worship because He created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. (Exodus 20:8, 11. Rev 4:1, Psalm 95:6). “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers of God will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit; and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24. Q. But the Sabbath was made for the Jews alone, isn’t it? A. No it was not. The Sabbath was made for man. God established the Sabbath at the close of creation – more than two thousand years before the Jewish nation came into existence. “Genesis 2:1, 3. “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. ... And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because in it He rested from all his work which God created and made”. Besides, the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Mark 2:27 Q. Ok, which day is the Sabbath day? A. The seventh day of the week. “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy…but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. Q. That is Sunday, right? A. No, wrong. Sunday is the first day of the week and Saturday the seventh day. Saturday is therefore the Sabbath day. Q. How can you be so sure? After all, I don’t think the Bible mentioned Sunday or Saturday by name. A. Right from creation, God called the days of the week; First day, second day….seventh day. Genesis 1. The Romans were the ones that gave names to our week days. Being pagans, the days were named after their gods. The first day in the Bible was named after their sun god – Sunday, Monday was their moon god, Tuesday for the god of Tyr…to Saturday for their Saturn god. Even our months were named after one Roman deity or personality. Q. Hasn't the Calendar Been Changed? A. The calendar was changed once in October 1582, but it did not alter the weekly cycle. Ten dates were omitted from the calendar following October 4, 1582. What would have been Friday, October 5, became Friday, October 15. The diagram below will help you to visualize the change. What is wrong if I choose any of the days as my Sabbath day? Can’t I worship God on any day? A. Do you remember the story of how God rained down manna from heaven for the Israelites for forty years? Q. Yes, I do, but what has that got to do with my question? A. A lot. God says He was going to use the opportunity of giving them manna to see if they would obey His law. The manna he said would fall from the first day of the week to the sixth day. And that they should take only the portion for the day, warning that they should be no leftover for the next day. He however said on the sixth day, they should take double portion as He would not rained down manna on the seventh day being the Sabbath. Guess what happened? Some persons took more than one portion only to find their leftovers filled with worms and stinking. While others failed to take double portion on the sixth day and went out on the seventh day, but found no manna. God was not happy and said to Moses “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and My laws? So yes, while we can worship God every day, we must not forget to keep the seventh day Sabbath holy. Assuming you were there and decided to make the third day as your seventh, would it be the same with God's own? And would He be happy with you? Q. Hmmnn…of course not. The issue is crystal clear., Did Jesus even keep the Sabbath? A. Of course he did. “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as HIS custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read. - Luke 4:16. It was the habit of Jesus to worship on the seventh day (Saturday) Q. Can we be certain that the present seventh day of the week (Saturday) is the same Sabbath day that Jesus kept holy? A. Yes we can. And that day was the preparation [Friday], and the Sabbath drew on. ... And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning they and certain other women came to the tomb. Luke 23:54-24:1. Q. Ok, but didn’t the death of Jesus nailed the Sabbath law to the cross? A. No it did not. If it did, the women who rested in obedience of the Sabbath law a day after He died, wouldn’t have done so. (Luke 23:56) Acts 18:4 tells us that like Jesus, it was the habit of Paul to worship on the Sabbath. Moreover, the disciples wouldn’t have continued worshipping and keeping the Sabbath as recorded in the book of Acts. (Acts 13:27 & 42, 17:2, 18:4, etc.) In addition, James 2:10-12 says ““For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. For He who said, “Do not commit adultery” also said “Do not murder”. Now if you commit adultery, but you do not murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.” Q. Wow! Seems very clear to me. But did the Bible not say in Colossians 2:16-17 that “So let no one judge you in food or drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ?” A. Yes, it says so. But the “Sabbaths” referred to here are the ceremonial Sabbaths and not the fourth commandment. Apart from the Seventh day Sabbath, Leviticus 23, mentioned at least five Sabbaths namely 1. The first day of the seventh month of the year (verse 24) 2. The tenth day of the seventh month (verse 27, 28 and 32) 3. Starting from the fifteen day of the seventh month, the Israelites shall celebrate the feast of tabernacles for seven days. The first day of the feast shall be a Sabbath. 4. The eight day, after the seven days have ended shall be a Sabbath too. (Verse 39) 5. Seventh year Sabbath after farming the land for six years. (Leviticus 25:2-4) These Sabbaths and the ceremonial laws “handwriting of ordinances” requiring animal sacrifices for sin were what was nailed to the cross. – Colossians 2:14 “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (requirements) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross” why? Because they all pointed to Jesus as it was not really possible for the blood of bulls, rams or goats to save us from sin. Hebrew 10:3-4 “But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take sin away” NOTE: When you see the shadow of a person, you know it belongs to someone who is near. And when the person comes, there is no need to keep looking or talking to the shadow because the person (substance) is around. Similarly, for centuries, the killing of lambs as sacrifice for sin by the Israelites were a shadow (pointed to Jesus) of Jesus – the real lamb who was to come. His coming therefore render the continued sacrifice of lamb for sin, after his death, useless and unnecessary. It therefore made perfect sense to the Jews, when John on seeing Jesus, pointed out and said “Behold the lamb that takes away the sins of the world” for indeed, He is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Q. Thank you very much for clarifying this. Will all of the saved in heaven keep the Sabbath? A. You are welcome. Yes, they will. Isaiah 66:22, 23 says “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says the Lord, so shall your descendants and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before me, says the LORD”. Q. When does the Sabbath begin and end? A. Leviticus 23:32. From evening to evening, you shall celebrate your Sabbath.” The Sabbath begins from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. Unlike the Romans and our present day, God count the days from evening to evening. See Genesis 1:5, 8, 13 etc. It is my prayer that the Lord shall help you to not forget but “REMEMBER” to keep the Sabbath day holy. To start with Jesus never spoke in tongues. You know why? There was no need to. His ministry was around Galilee and neighbouring towns, so the need to communicate in another language was not there. Speaking in tongues, simple means speaking in another language. The main reason is to communicate, to overcome language barrier. It's simply the gift of speaking in another language (e.g Yoruba, French, Dutch) without a prior knowledge. Acts 2:4-11 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) 4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak different languages. The Holy Spirit was giving them the power to do this. 5 There were some godly Jews in Jerusalem at this time. They were from every country in the world. 6 A large crowd came together because they heard the noise. They were surprised because, as the apostles were speaking, everyone heard in their own language. 7 They were all amazed at this. They did not understand how the apostles could do this. They said, “Look! These men we hear speaking are all from Galilee.[a] 8 But we hear them in our own languages. How is this possible? We are from all these different places: 9 Parthia, Media, Elam, Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the areas of Libya near the city of Cyrene, Rome, 11 Crete, and Arabia. Some of us were born Jews, and others have changed their religion to worship God like Jews. We are from these different countries, but we can hear these men in our own languages! Of course it does! 1. Ideally and generally, the man should be between 3-15 years older than the woman. Women are generally more mature than men of the same age, especially at adolescence and youth age Thus women tend to naturally prefer those 3 years and above their age. 2. For better communication and shared values : it'll be difficult for a woman or man to get mental companionship from one that is far older or younger than him/her. Imagine a 20 years old girl with a 40 or 50 years old man and vice versa. 3. Physical and Sexual Compatibility : Men generally and culturally prefer to marry younger women. This will help avoid the situation where the woman looks like the elder sister or mother of the man, after 2 or more children. On the other hand, sexual performance for men declines with men overtime... especially from 50 years upwards. This could create sexual frustration and other problems for a very young wife. You're right. A lot of their prophecies are generalised statements, guess work, and figment of their own imaginations. Any one conversant with Nigeria's socio-economic and political environment as well as international politics can give these so-called prophecies.
