A few days ago, San Francisco police arrested a 21-year-old man who they say killed another man over a PlayStation 4.

The suspect, Ronnie Collins, made arrangements online to buy the new console from the victim, 22-year-old Ikenna Uwakah. Uwakah was shot at 3:30 p.m. and died in the hospital Sunday, NBC News reports. Collins was arrested on Monday.

Uwakah agreed to meet Collins to sell him the PS4, but Collins allegedly stole it and shot Uwakah as he sat in the passenger seat of his car. Uwakah's girlfriend, who was in the driver's seat, wasn't injured, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Uwakah's father, Onyebuchi, said his son had sold many personal effects online before, without problems.

"He does that all the time," he told NBC News. "He buys telephones and things likes electronics and cells. This is what he does. He doesn’t have to tell me every time he does it. He does it to keep busy when he’s not busy with school."

Police didn't say what website the two used to arrange the deal, but confirmed that it wasn't Craigslist.

Following several failed attempt at resolving the on-going strike, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) decided to go spiritual on Tuesday by declaring a three day fasting and prayer as they seek divine intervention to resolve the dispute between the union and the Nigerian government.

Here's how The Nation reports the new development:

The decision to embark on spiritual intervention came during the union congress held at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan.

The congress which was presided over by the Chairman of University of Ibadan (UI) chapter of ASUU, Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye, stressed the need for God to help Nigerian leaders to do the needful and document the resolutions of their meeting with the President.

The congress which expressed optimism that the strike will end soon listed three prayer points to include: “the need for God to touch the heart of the Federal government to be committed towards funding public education and develop the nation.

They also asked God to protect the leadership of ASUU as they travel and that the purpose of the strike is actualized by placing universities in the league of world class institutions.”

Speaking after the congress, Dr. Ajiboye said the union does not need newspaper confirmation from the president that N200billion has been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

He said it was impossible for anybody who has not opened an account with a bank to request the bank for a balance.

While urging the federal government to be serious about the future of the country, the don accused the government of “still keeping the students at home.”

He said the union has the machinery to suspend the strike within 24 hours once the grey areas in the resolutions have been sorted out by the federal government.

This is an unfortunate situation. The strike, which began on July 1, is yet to be resolved and students are delayed unnecessarily. Unfortunately, the Nigerian job market is very age-conscious; if you are not within a certain age bracket, chances of getting an entry-level job after graduation is slim.

Let's hope both parties resolve their differences sooner than later.

These reports are saying the economy is growing fast, not that we are now USA or Canada.

The Turkish Football Federation have decided to sanction Didier Drogba and Eboue for taking off their jerseys and displaying under shirts that had tributes to Nelson Mandela following their 2-0 win over SB Elagizspor last Friday.

Apparently, Drogba's shirt had "Thank You Madiba" inscribed on it while Eboue's had "Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela."

According the disciplinary committee of the Turkish Football Federation, players are not allowed to display political slogans and messages during football matches.

Drogba's response? The 35-year-old took to Instagram to say that regardless of any sanction he maybe handed, he'll do it "again and again."

A 26-year-old Australian man was arrested after he set himself on fire and caused an estimated $110,000 of damage when he lit a cigarette while allegedly stealing gasoline from a car.

In surveillance video, a fireball can be seen as the man accidentally lights the siphoned fuel on fire with his cigarette. See the video below:

Police arrived at the parking lot and saw the man had badly burned his legs.

Car yard owner Angus McDonald said things could have been much worse.

"We were just so lucky," he told reporters.

"He was trying to get the fuel out of the car by punching a hole in the tank - that's when the explosion happened."

"There's be about $110,000 worth of cars that have been lost and there's a bit of damage to the walls. We were very lucky the workshop didn't catch on fire because there's cars just over the other side of the wall."

One thing is for sure - this guy isn't the brightest of thieves. He's still a learner. Having a smoke near petrol is not a good idea.

Funny but true

Tao Hsiao, a 38-year-old Chinese man jumped to his death at a shopping mall in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province east China, after a heated argument with his girlfriend who insisted they go into another store to shop, the Daily Mail reports.

Tao got tired of shopping and insisted they go home after the couple spent five hours at the mall.

An eye witness said:

"He told her she already had enough shoes, more shoes that she could wear in a lifetime and it was pointless buying any more. She started shouting at him accusing him of being a skinflint and of spoiling Christmas, it was a really heated argument."

The shouting match ended when the man chucked the bags on the floor and jumped over the balcony, smashing into Christmas decorations on his way down before hitting the floor seven stories below causing shocked shoppers to flee in panic.

Emergency services arrived at the scene but Tao was killed immediately from the impact of the fall.

"His body was removed fairly quickly. He actually landed on one of the stalls below and then fell to the floor so although the store was damaged it meant he didn't hit anybody," said a shopping spokesman

"This is a tragic incident, but this time of year can be very stressful for many people." he added.

I don't enjoy going out shopping with a female, they tend to take their 'sweet' time. But to get so frustrated that you'd jump off the 7th floor? It's so uncalled for. Worst case, just go wait in the car and she can come join you whenever she's done.
