I don't think ASUU is to blame afterall they are government employees themselves. They were not just agitating for their personal gains (although their boss~gov't who is a tragi-comedian ~pays them joke of a salary) but include revamping of the universities.

Economics. Mop up (or reduce the volume of) naira in circulation thereby decrease demand for commodities hence forcing the general price to fall. Note that the higher the demand the higher price & vice versa.
