Please does anyone have any experience with short payment of immigration health surcharge? Particularly for Tier 4 dependants?

The ihs calculator on the ukgov site shows £450 for dependants. At the time of payment however, the system generated an invoice of just £408 which was paid. I mailed UKVI before decision was made and I was told the application was not in the system (hadn't done biometrics at that time) and that I shouldn't be concerned as long as I selected the correct visa category, otherwise I'll be sent a top up link if it is indeed a short payment.

I did not get any top up link and the visa has been issued.

Any advice on what I should expect and how I should proceed on this please?

The school is Middlesex University. After my pre CAS interview, I was told to enrol online when I get my CAS, but on their website, it was stated you need to get your visa first before enrolment. I am yet to get my CAS though the regional office assured me that it will be ready on the 28th which is actually the last date for issuance of CAS. As for refunds, you will get it if you are refused a visa. Yes, I had my first lecture last week Wednesday
Since you are allowed to attend lectures without enrolment, then I'd suggest you continue with your classes.

Paying the tuition deposit reduces the amount you need to show in your account statement. I would have advised you to have paid the deposit before now, in the light of the refund policy. It appears rather late now, given that tomorrow is the deadline for payment. You can still give it a try tho', and even if it is not received till after the deadline, you at least have proof that you initiated the transaction before the deadline passed. Quite a gamble, but worst case scenario, you will get a refund.

You really ought to have emailed the school with specifics of your situation and possibly got a waiver, extension or clarification as the case may be.

In any case, you have to wait for your funds to mature and CAS issued before you can apply for your visa. Further to whatever is stated on the website and what you were told after your pre-CAS interview, your CAS statement is more specific to your individual circumstances and should contain details that you (and whoever is considering your visa application) would have to work with. Fingers crossed you'll get it tomorrow then you can proceed from there.

Hope you have your TB test certificate?

Hello house,
My school sent me enrolment details because lectures are starting online on the 28th. But the school website said you should enrol only when you have gotten your visa. I am yet to go for my interview cos my bank statement count has not matured. Now, 50% of your tuition must be paid by that 28th of September. Please kindly advise what I should do?
1. What Uni is that? I find it odd that the school is asking you not to enroll without a visa.

2. Would the school allow you attend lectures without enrollment?

3. What is the school's policy on refund of deposits if visas aren't issued?

4. When did you get your CAS?

5. What is on your CAS as regards enrollment?

6. What is stated in your CAS as the last date to resume in person?

Your visa decision will be premised on the conditions in your CAS

7. It appears you might be a little behind schedule given the circumstances you have stated here. 28th of September is tomorrow and your statement isn't even mature.

You need to clarify on these issues to know how to advise you.

I did not mean to scare you please. Just a note of caution. If it is Ikeja, wait till Monday, you can pay there and it's close to the official exchange rate. However, as I said, the procedure might have changed. Others who submitted recently might be willing to provide info

Good day guys
Please I need assistance on how to upgrade to Priority.
I'm on the TLS page but I'm confused on the appropriate option to select. I wouldn't want to tamper with my appointment date for Monday.
Kindly assist possibly with Steps by Steps till payment
If you're using Ikeja VAC, I believe you can pay at the center. Going by my experience there a couple of weeks ago, you would be asked if you want to upgrade to priority, it might have changed now however. The experience in Abuja seems to be different, from what I've read here.

Be careful not to lose your submission date tho', it happened to me while trying to amend an appointment. cry

Pls house I need your kind assistance on these queries

1. How did you book the family biometric together because I understand there is no joint family application?

2.did you use your naira card to pay for visa fee and how much was it

3. How did you pay for TB test and how much.
Pls I'm new to this topic reason for my questions
1. No family application. All applicants submit individual applications.
*Main applicant completes their application first which generates an application number (GWF...)
*Dependants complete their applications separately and quote main applicant's GWF number.
*Biometric/interview dates are selected separately, family could be lucky to get the same dates, if not, y'all have to settle with different dates or pay 42k for each "walk-in" which permits submission outside your selected biometrics dates.

2. Naira bank cards cannot be used to pay the fees at the moment because of transaction limits by Nigerian banks.
*Dollar cards linked to domicilary accounts can be used. Some have also used paga. Others used bank cards of friends/familiy abroad to pay.
*Visa fees and immigration health surcharge (ihs) are ~ £348 & £450 (depending on duration of the course) per applicant. Note that the ihs will be increasing as from October 1

3. Book at any of the 2 approved TB test centres to secure an appointment.
*Pay into the bank account advised in your booking ~₦52k and ₦32k each over and under 11 applicant respectively.

I'm assuming this enquiry is towards a January admission?

Your current CAS has been rendered invalid as of now so your decision to try other schools for January intake or wait for the next available intake of the current school is up to you.

Can i do the administrative review by myself or i'll need a solicitor
You can do it by yourself. In my experience, it was a hand delivered letter to the Deputy High Commission in Lagos and it addressed the issues raised in the refusal notice. Their response was that I should reapply and address the issues raised in the refusal. I could draft the letter for you, but I'm busy with online lectures at the moment and as well a bit tensed up about the status of my own application. @mimilyrics is usually very resourceful in assisting with these sort of issues gratuitously. You may wish to send her a pm.

In the meantime, as the administrative review might take time, while it is is ongoing, you can plan to repackage and reapply in January but you will have to address all these issues.

Don't be discouraged, the UKVI cannot visit the "offense" of your sister on you, neither can they punish you for it by denying you a visa strictly on that ground. Just try again but make sure you address everything thoroughly next time. I've been there, howbeit for a visit visa, and I have received multiple visit visas afterwards. Just be thankful it wasn't a ban and try again.

All the best!

Been seeing your post about declaring your siblings, for someone like me who only have cousins over there that we aren’t even close do I need to list them in my application too?

Secondly, i got an offer of accommodation at my bro in laws place to stay for the duration of my program. However, the so called bro in law is my husband’s cousin while my bro inlaws sister is also based in the Uk do I need to list both of them in my application?

Non of my siblings are abroad, am I to also list them in my application irrespective of there location?? Because this whole sibling listing thing is starting to confuse me o. Pls help me with a detail explanation.
You don't need to include siblings not in the UK, but you need to state that you have family in the UK especially if you're staying with them. They fall under the category of "family and friends" and I have included my cousin and aunty in my applications as they have been the ones inviting me over the years.

You may not include distant cousins you're not in contact with, but you need to include the BIL you intend to stay with. Bear in mind that under the tier4 rules, you still need to show your maintenance fund even if you have free accommodation.

It is a mail that UKVI sends to applicants when they believe that the outcome of the application will take more than 15 working days because the application is not straightforward or is somewhat complex.

Is there usually a delay in the issuance of a visa. I was given 15 working days and it's nearly 20 working days. I just want to know if it normal since school is about to commence.

thank you
Yes, the processing times is known to have on many occasions extended beyond 15 working days. More so with this COVID-19 situation.

Did you get a "non straightforward" email?

Goodday people, pls i will like the gurus on this platform to help me out on a way forward
I was just refused a tier 4 visa(inclusive of my hubby and 2kids),reason being that i dint declare i have a sibling in the uk(of which i told my school during preCAS interviee that i av a sister.i dint put on d application that i hav a sister, not because i want to lie but because siblings wasnt specified under family members in the uk.so during my visa interview on tuesday i told them i will be quarantinig in manchester in an airbndb apartment(but my school is in sheffield),when askd y i said cos my sis is there and want to quarantine where i knw somone and afterward move to the accomodation i booked in sheffield,i was asked y i dint fill i av a sister told her i dint knw of which i later gav her her name and date of birth.i later got to know my sis used another name and a diff date of birth to wat i told d consular, though she left so many years ago as an illegal immigrant but she hav her papers already.i am really sad,i was truthful in all bt it has cause me a refusal, what should i do pls?
This is what some people wanted to crucify @justwise for this morning

@sweetness24 So sorry about this outcome. It is important to always understand that the truth and consistency are very germaine in UK visa application process. Under what rules were you denied? It'll help to know if it is something you can address in subsequent applications or an outright ban which you might have to serve out

You still don't get it. Breaks and permitted absences are different.
A break in continuous leave is when you've spent longer than 180 days outside the UK because this resets your clock towards qualifying for ILR except in extenuating circumstances.
Permitted absences are within the permitted absence allowance and they don't reset your ILR clock or continuous leave period so they are not breaks in your legal leave. See the attached screen for more clarification as to what qualifies as a break in legal residence in the UK.
The edits on my previous comment were made to include more details before your response came in so, chill. And if this is what you term defensive, I can only just leave you to believe what makes you feel good.

Any comment I put on here isn't borne out of a need to become champion, it's borne out of a need to help.

I wouldn't be responding to you anymore.
While I've said I'm not going into the merits of your argument from all these numerous unnecessary screenshots, bear in mind that "breaks", "absence", "gaps" are all the same.

Google "ejusdem generis". I would have said "thank me later", but you said you won't respond to me anymore. Please don't on this matter for real.

But note, I won't hesitate to call you out on this your attitude if you keep up with it grin

Yes my cousin entered on tues and they jjst asked for his quarantine form and the school he is going to finish. They didn't even ask of his Tb cert.
Lol. So you see that everyone's experience is different, while your cousin wasn't asked for the TB certificate, others were.

The financial evidence provided during your application is for funds which are meant to be available to you for your course, so, you might be asked at the point of entry, and if you're asked, you must produce. Finish grin

I understand its a burden that's why I am even asking. I would have transferred the money immediately to my personal account, but that would reset my 28 days validity down to zero. I figure giving a sound explanation should be easier. School has resumed already, I've just been attending classes online.
You've made a valid point here, starting over at this time would be nerve-wracking and counterproductive so you might just as well go ahead with your plans. My advice however, is for you to be prepared to convince the ECO of why you have a joint account with your uncle if you're asked in an interview. You might even be lucky not to get an interview at all.

All the best!

Lol, inphoenix, but it was you that first accused her of being defensive and went ahead to make a statement like this

“Doesn't in any way tamper with your reputation as a savior on this thread.”

What I saw from her write ups was her just attempting to explain better, what she meant. There was actually no form of defensiveness in what she typed.... from the first one where she was asked to speak more on leave to remain to where she was replying justwise.

You can’t finish saying something like that and now tell her not to take offense and actually expect her not to take offense just because you said so.

You saying she was being unnecessarily defensive and she should just accept what not, is actually the out of line thing in all this

no offense o.... I was just stating my observation o. ‍♀️‍♀️

And your point is? What's being defensive in stating what obtains?
I stated that a person gets ILR after spending the time required on their visa / leave without breaks in the leave; breaks in continuous residence only comes into play when an individual spends more than the permitted absence allowance. You can always do a quick check to confirm if the info is correct. Always read to understand please.

Periods of being away from the UK which are below the acceptable thresholds are termed absences (180 days or less) while periods above the acceptable absence allowance are called breaks in your leave / visa.

Even Justwise comments ( which I further clarified ) didn't negate my point, it was clarification for the person my comment was directed at not to assume that a holiday period or any period of being away from the UK on acceptable absence allowance will count as a break in leave.
Sis, you went to edit your comment and even posted a screenshot? Lol. It's not that serious ma'am. No one is dragging champion of the UK visa advise with you here please.

It's even unnecessary cos I'm not even trying to "negate" or argue the merits or otherwise of your argument. Calm down, stop being defensive.

At the point when justwise pointed out that breaks are NOT ALTOGETHER fatal to an application for Leave, all you needed to do was say "yeah, that's correct, as long as it isn't more than 180days", but check out your response instead grin You get defensive because...? What you said is not even materially wrong, just a little misleading for those who truly don't know such as the person you were trying to bring up to spead on all things "Leave". Then you took the pains to do a screenshot in your attempt to interpret the guidelines to me? grin Nah, I'm not the one sis. Nuff said!

Lol. Even when I asked you not to take offense, your conclusion is this disrespectful comeback of "what I don't know"? Simply because? I reckon you're civil to people who truly do not know on this thread, and anyone with a semblance of correcting you is subject to a pointless defense or a rude retort such as this and the other one about shouting. You will NEVER say that to me in person under ANY circumstance. You don't know me (or what I know) and trust me, if you did, you'll be impressed.

Hi Justwise,

thanks for the response. I understand that the a family member outside your parents cannot sponsor one, but I saw on the Uk tier 4 application guide, that joint accounts are allowed if one is named on the account. Of which I am named. Please see image from the migrant guidance below:

What do you think? I dont mean to counter or anything. I just thought the school checking would have covered that.
You are correct, but consider the burden of having to explain why you have a joint account with your uncle to an Entry Clearance Officer and the proof that it wasn't created with the sole purpose of getting the visa?

It doesn't count as a break if it's shorter than the number of days allowed. I'm talking about a period that is beyond the accepted time period.
Lol. Sis, this is very funny and totally unnecessary. A break is a break - "accepted" or not - mind you, the subject of your advice is not aware of what is acceptable or not. You're really very bright and helpful here and very much appreciated, but this here is just you being unnecessarily defensive of a harmless conclusion that you only need to acknowledge and move on. Doesn't in any way tamper with your reputation as a savior on this thread.

No offense please. Just saying.
