This year has had its fair share of scandals. From epic baby mama dramas to public break-ups and relationship rollercoasters, we present to you our five celebrity scandals of the year. 1. Toyin Aimakhu and Seun Egbegbe A month after her breakup with Adeniyi Johnson, Aimakhu wasn't even legally divorced before she started a whirlwind romance with Ebony Films and Records boss, Seun Egbegbe. Their breakup was even messier than her marital drama. Egbegbe reportedly seized her phones at a movie location and was accused of kidnapping her too. The two later engaged in a war of words on social media and in several interviews. 2. Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz This year also saw celebrity couple Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz embroiled in one of the biggest scandals of the year. Tee Billz lashed out at his wife on Instagram complaining about neglect, accused his wife of having sex with Dr. Sid, Don Jazzy and 2face Idibia, claimed his mother-in-law was a witch and spoke about his fractured relationship with his father. It was later revealed that he tried committing suicide on the same day. Tiwa Savage in a tell-all interview exclusively released to Pulse on April 28, 2016 accused Tee Billz of neglect, drug use and infidelity. 3. Davido and Sophia Momodu We would give it to them! Constantly at each other's necks, even involving their aged fathers into the social media brawl. It started with calling of names and accusations. The singer accused his baby mama of neglecting their daughter, doping, posing a serious risk to their child and draining him dry of all his money. Sophia not relenting accused the pop star's family of 'baby napping'. Their public fight and custody battle climaxed when Sophia Momodu called the immigration on Davido's family while trying to leave the country. This led to a full-on media war and onslaught. The singer even went ahead to release a song calling Dele Momodu his “boy”. Even after the truce was called between Davido’s family and Sophia Momodu’s family, the pop star has been taunting the veteran journalist and Ovation publisher Dele Momodu by calling out his names. 4. Wizkid and Binta Diallo Pop singer Wizkid has surely been in a lot of baby mama drama this year. Back in February, it was revealed that Wizkid had allegedly fathered a child with a Guinean woman named Binta Diamond Diallo who stays in America. Despite the baby boy being named after him Wizkid swiftly denied fathering a child. Binta Diamond Diallo fired back by saying that Wizkid is a deadbeat dad who has not seen his son. There has been no statement from Wizkid after that. 5. Burna Boy and Uju Stella It all started when a lady named Uju Stella, accused the singer of allegedly impregnating and abandoning her. Burna Boy, in response to the allegation, made a short video clip where he suggested he only slept with her once. Uju Stella also claimed Burna Boy stormed her apartment, broke her door and threatened her after she made it public that she is with his child. Uju Stella then proceeded to drag his mum into the drama accusing her of trying to get her terminate the pregnancy. It seemed as though Stella’s story could be questionable as she suddenly went quietly with her claims. SOURCE: http://www.gistpark.com/2016/12/top-5-celebrity-scandals-of-2016.html

It's undeniable that controversy and popularity go hand in hand.Something as harmless as a picture shared on social media could become so controversial and talked about for months to come. 2016 had several moments that had us asking "What's going on with xyz celebrity?" It's been undeniably a tough 12 months for the celebrities on this list. Below are our most controversial people of 2016: 1. Toyin Aimakhu For Nigerian actress Toyin Aimakhu it started with her marriage scandal with estranged husband, Adeniyi Johnson. She accused him of constantly cheating with her colleagues but it didn’t take her a month before she got involved with Ebony boss, Seun Egbegbe. Their breakup was even messier than her marital drama. Seun reportedly seized her phones at a movie location and was accused of kidnapping her too. The two later engaged in a war of words on social media and in several interviews. Let's also not forget the late Mayowa Ahmed fund raising saga. Moved by late ovarian cancer patient, Ahmed Mayowa Shukurat's story, actress Toyin Aimakhu visited Mayowa and helped solicit funds on her behalf. When reports emerged suggesting that the campaign was orchestrated by Ahmed Mayowa Shukurat's family to deceive Nigerians, Toyin Aimakhu stormed LUTH with police officers and that lead to another lengthy social media onslaught. 2. Kemi Olunloyo Mother of all controversies. Anything renowned media personality, Kemi Olunloyo speaks or tweets about automatically becomes controversial. This year alone saw Olunloyo in the limelight more times than normal. From calling Jide Kosoko a ritualist who killed his wife, Henrietta Kosoko, to fat shaming Eniola Badmus and trolling Dayo Amusa, Olunloyo was a hit in the controversial department this year. 3. Freeze Always one to speak his mind, Freeze has been in the news for different controversies this year alone. He was rumoured to have been sacked by the management of Cool FM following his public feud with Basketmouth which he tagged malicious. The media personality has since been hogging the headlines with his unfiltered comments on politics, religion, love and marriage. He also owns a blog where he posts his opinions on the burning topic of the day and is commonly known as a social critic. 4. Toke Makinwa Thanks to her marital issues being made public and the occasional rambling on YouTube, Toke Makinwa almost snatched the controversial spotlight from Kemi Olunloyo. This year alone saw the TV host and Vlogger trend for several reasons. First, it started with her misconstrued advice to single young ladies, then her releasing a tell-all book, “On Becoming”, where she talks about getting a sexually transmitted disease from her husband, her husband’s mistress and her failed marriage. 5. Emeka Ike 2016 was undeniably the year of controversial Emeka Ike. He charged the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to court, dragged Ibinabo Fiberesima on social media and was involved in a marital drama with his estranged wife. 6. Davido Davido and his baby mama, Sophia Momodu, owned this year with their baby drama. The two constantly threw shots at each other on social media even dragging Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu, into the mess. Davido was delayed from going to Dubai with his daughter at the airport after Dele Momodu called child services and customs. This led to a full-on media war and onslaught. The singer even went ahead to release a song calling Dele Momodu his “boy”. 7. Wizkid And then Wizkid decided to bless fans with his trolling of popular blogger, Linda Ikeji. The beef between the two started when Linda Ikeji's Blog reported Wizkid had been evicted out of his Lekki home after his rent had expired. This supposedly angered the pop singer, who made hostile remarks about Ikeji. Eventually, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had to intervene putting the beef between the music star and Entrepreneur to rest. Often described as agelessly beautiful, Joke Silva, has revealed the secret to her youthful looks at age 55.The veteran Nollywood actress attributed her youthful beauty to the fact that she keeps working. The multiple award - winning filmmaker who has been busy with the production of a stage play, ‘Heartbeat the musical,’ made the disclosure during a chat with Saturday Beats. “I look this young because I keep working. There are still some things I want to do that have not been achieved. For instance, I have not seen a play run in Nigeria for a year not to talk of 20 years. That has to happen. It is part of my unfulfilled desires or unfinished business in the industry. Also, I hope we can get a proper and standard school for the performing arts and film running. Yes, we are doing it but not at the scale I would want it to be,” she said. Adding to the fact that there are some unfulfilled desires she harbours, Silva also revealed that she is yet to give up on stageplays in Nigeria as she believes they are still very viable in the country. She said, “Stage plays cannot be pirated and there are lots of talented people who love the stage. They express themselves beautifully well at the theatre either in front of the stage or behind the scenes as they make theatre happen. For me, if it is possible to create work for them, why not? "Like every other Nigerian groaning under the pain caused by the economic recession, even the A-list actress is not left out. She confessed that she is feeling the brunt of recession and she gave instances. “The recession has also affected me because if not for recession, I probably would have got the kind of funding I need for this play. Most of the money for this play has come from our pocket. This is my work, play for me means work,” she said. Joke who is happily married to veteran act, Olu Jacobs, has successfully produced 22 stage plays although she disclosed that things were not always rosy. She disclosed that no one turned up for the first stage play produced by herself and Jacobs but things are very different now. The filmmaker is popular for her screen and stage works like "Violated," "Hear Word," "Widows Cot," "Letters to a Stranger" among others. Traditional media no longer holds the monopoly of creating stars. For years now social media has been responsible in the emergence of today's biggest stars. A good example of this is Falz who pivoted from an Instagram comedy sensation into a rap superstar. As 2016 comes to an end, Pulse has created a list of the top 10 people social media blew up this year. You can read the list below; 1) Emmanuella This funny girl is Nigeria's Queen of YouTube and the biggest social media star of 2016. Her mature acting and deadpan delivery captivated our hearts. Her big break came when her video 'this is not my real face' video went viral. Nigerians couldn't stop laughing for weeks. This video set her off and her videos on YouTube have insane views. She has transcended being a social media star into a bonafide star. All that is waiting for her is her Nollywood debut. 2) Olajumoke Orisaguna Talk about a rag to riches story. Olajumoke Orisaguna was virtually a nobody until that fateful Sunday when she stumbled onto the set of TY Bello's photoshoot for the British-Nigerian rapper Tinie Tempah. Her life changed overnight from covering This Day Style, earning a modelling contract, moving into a serviced apartment, and going to a finishing school. Her story was picked up by several international news websites and she got interviewed on CNN. 3) Bobrisky The famous (sometimes controversial) crossdresser went from zero to hero thanks to the power of social media. Bobrisky didn't blow up with Twitter or Instagram. He used a relatively new social media app SnapChat to make himself a household name virtually. Bobrisky has approximately 60,000 followers on SnapChat and his videos regularly appear on Twitter. He is the biggest social media sensation of 2016. He is so big these days that he is presently on a tour of the UK and people line up to take selfies with him. A selfie with Bobrisky is worth £20. 4) Instablog 9ja Before the news becomes news, Instablog 9ja has it. This year was the year of this Instagram account as it disrupted the systems of many celebrity sites and blogs. Instablog 9ja provided the juicy details of the biggest celebrity stories before your favourite sites could publish them. The famous Instagram account buttressed the point that social media platform are now sites for information and not just linking routes. 5) Kanmi When a song is titled after a slang you coined then you know you are gold. Kanmi who has been bubbling online for a while now really blew up in 2016. His 'Akanm D Boy' sketches got him a lot of fans this year including a superstar by the name of Wizkid. While his contemporaries used Instagram to blow up, he used Twitter and it turned out successful for him. Oh yes Ajebutter's 'Bad Gang' was inspired by Kanmi who features in the video. 6) Joro Olumofin This University of Lagos graduate started the year in grand fashion as he and brother took pettiness to another level. Joro and his brother went to war when BEAT FM OAP Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi called them 'social climbers'. The Olumofin brothers went berserk on her. Joro Olumofin would pivot the fame to establish himself as an Instagram love and dating coach. The e-mails he receives from people seeking advice mostly go viral not only on Instagram but on Twitter too. Hey, I guess that's Pulse interviewed him. 7) Sub Delivery Man The art of subbing is huge on Twitter and no account on the social media app does it better than Sub Delivery Man. Gone are the days when you sub someone and your followers don't know who you are talking about. Sub Delivery Man will take the sub and mention the person being subbed. Sub Delivery Man has also taken snitching a step further. People can send anonymous DMs to the account and spill the beans about someone on Twitter. Sub Delivery man's DM has 'casted' a lot of people on social media. MarajiStill a teenager, the quite animated Maraji (Gloria Oloruntobi) is one of the biggest names on social media these days. The 19-year-old is the queen of lip syncing on Instagram. From dancing to songs and lip syncing comedy skits, Maraji is the queen of perfect timing. In 2016 she also branched out to start doing her own original skits. Her content is quite refreshing to watch in a field dominated by men. 9) Ebiye The comedian of pop culture on social media has to go to Ebiye. The comedian really broke in 2016 with his Twitter and Instagram skits that referenced pop culture. Coming off his hilarious skit of Davido getting robbed in 2015, Ebiye quickly jumped on Tiwa Savage's marriage issues and Linda Ikeji's success to create funny skits that we couldn't help but retweet. 10) Oresegun Olumide We saw a lot of artists on Instagram but no one captured our sights and hearts than Oresegun Olumide. His hyper-realistic drawings went viral and earned him a feature on CNN's website. SOURCE: http://www.gistpark.com/2016/12/10-people-social-media-made-celebrities.html

The TV presenter and Daniel Aderinokun had their introduction ceremony earlier in November 2016, after Daniel had proposed in August.Stephanie Coker and Daniel Aderinokun are bosses in this photo from their pre-wedding shoot (Stephanie Coker/Instagram) The stunning pre-wedding pictures appeared on her Instagram feed yesterday, December 6th, 2016, accompanied by the apt caption; "Boss x Boss = Empire" The couple indeed looked like kingpins, striking a pose in their suits, seated on a black power ride which had its light shining into camera, creating a feel of a music video shoot. Oh, and the 'boss couple' show that they surely know how to be cuddly and full of honey when they are alone together. In the other picture shared by the presenter, the photographer captures the moment when she embraces her lover's shoulders and buries a kiss in his cheek as he tries his best to concentrate on a magazine. Stephanie felt that a heart emoji was enough caption to explain that one, and we totally get the message! We wish this couple nothing but the best as they prepare to take that walk down the aisle. Backers of the proposed new mega party are reported to be targeting at least 16 states of the federation as the rumour of the party thickens. In a report by ThisDay Newspaper, the governors of the states are expected to decamp to the new party, and bolster chances of unseating the present government of President Muhammadu Buhari. Some of the states being considered for the taking are spread across five crucial geo-political zones of the country and they include Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu in the South-east; Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Cross River and Bayelsa in the South-south; Osun, Oyo, Ekiti and Lagos in the South-west; Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa in the North East; and for now Benue State in the North-central zone. The report further revealed that the backers of the proposed mega party have their eyes firmly fixed on the 2018 governorship polls in Ekiti and Osun States as well as the 2019 general election. It was also reported that though the denials of Atiku Abubakar and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's romance with the new opposition party has created a stir in the party, it is believed that the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that currently controls 11 states in the country has displayed tacit support to the cause. A Republican member of the Electoral College from Texas has promised to vote against Donald Trump during the college’s meeting Dec. 19, saying the president-elect “shows daily he is not qualified for office.” In an op-ed published Monday in The New York Times, Christopher Suprun, a paramedic and first responder to the Pentagon on Sept. 11, laid out a lengthy list of concerns about Trump. He called on fellow electors to “do their job” and unify around an “honorable and qualified” alternative such as Ohio. Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. The Federalist Papers, Suprun wrote, argue that the Electoral College is tasked with ensuring candidates are “qualified, not engaged in demagogy, and independent from foreign influence.” Trump, he said, does not meet these standards, and should therefore be rejected from the White House. “Mr. Trump,” Suprun wrote, “lacks the foreign policy experience and demeanor needed to be commander in chief ... Mr. Trump urged violence against protesters at his rallies during the campaign. He speaks of retribution against his critics.” Suprun added that he has “poured countless hours” into serving his party, and will continue to do so. “But I owe no debt to a party,” he wrote. “I owe a debt to my children to leave them a nation they can trust.” With his promise, Suprun becomes the Republican party’s first potential “faithless elector” this presidential election, The Guardian reports. Previously, seven of the nation’s 538 electors ― all Democrats in states won by Hillary Clinton ― had voiced their intent to break their pledge. To support anti-Trump Electoral College members, Harvard University law professor Larry Lessig announced on Monday he will launch “The Electors Trust,” which will provide free counsel to those seeking to oppose Trump in states where doing so may be illegal, Politico reports. The platform is also intended to help electors gauge whether there’s enough support to prevent Trump from becoming president. “It makes no sense to be elector number five who comes out against Trump. But it might make sense to be elector 38,” Lessig told Politico. Since 1796, there have been 157 “faithless electors,” most recently in 2004. Last week, Art Sisneros, also a Republican elector from Texas, announced he planned to resign from the Electoral College rather than vote for Trump. He said casting his vote for Trump would “bring dishonor to God.” Trump is expected to receive 306 electoral votes when the college votes on Dec. 19. That means that in addition to Suprun, 36 GOP electors would have to jump ship to drop Trump below the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. It may be a long shot, but it’s exactly what Suprun is pushing for. “The election of the next president is not yet a done deal,” he wrote. “Electors of conscience can still do the right thing for the good of the country. Presidential electors have the legal right and a constitutional duty to vote their conscience.” “Fifteen years ago, I swore an oath to defend my country and Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” Suprun added. “On Dec. 19, I will do it again.” SOURCE: http://www.gistpark.com/2016/12/no-faith-in-him-republican-elector.html

Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has reportedly vowed to back the new mega party provided his former deputy, Atiku Abubakar isn't running as the presidential candidate. In a recent report by ThisDay Newspaper, Obasanjo gave his condition to support the party saying he can't make another mistake the Nigeria's future. The report also stressed that while Obasanjo wasn't aversed to a new and formidable opposition party against 2016, he insisted his support will only come if Atiku will not emerge the party's presidential candidate in 2016. A source in the know reportedly disclosed that, “He (Obasanjo) addressed the group that met with him, informing them that he had made too many mistakes in his life and for the nation, including the blanket support he claimed to have granted the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari, and therefore was not prepared to make any more mistakes.” The ex-President was reported to have also told the proponents of the new party that while he has no particular candidate at heart, anybody with the minimum requisite qualifications and experience should emerge the candidate but definitely not Atiku. The proposed mega party is said to be a brainchild of some aggrieved politicians in APC as well as opposition parties. Meanwhile, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has been fingered to be planning the emergence of the mega party alongside Atiku Abubakar has denied possibilities of leaving APC. Tinubu had on Monday, December 5, 2016 stressed his stand saying:"Through it all, I, Asiwaju will remain true to the progressive ideals that fueled the creation of APC." National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has denied that he’s planning to leave the party. The APC leader made the denial on Monday, December 5, via Twitter. “In our Journey to national betterment, plans and policies will be made, then amended. Mistakes will occur and then corrected... Achievements will be had & replicated. Through it all, I, Asiwaju will remain true to the progressive ideals that fueled the creation of APC,” he wrote. “I have devoted my political life to achieve what has been achieved. My heart is too much of the people and my mind too fixed on establishing a positive historic legacy... rather than engage in destructive pettiness. “This government, APC, is for the betterment of the people & the national purpose is bigger and more important than any individual's desires. “This is a party I labored with others to build. We would not abandon it for another. Millions of Nigerians who voted are watching and praying,” he added. Rumour has it that Tinubu is planning to leave the APC to start another party because he is supposedly being ill-treated in the APC. The supposed ill-treatment has caused Governor Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani-Kayode, who are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to speak up and criticize Tinubu’s protégés for betraying him. The Anambra Government is to de-worm over 2.5 million pre-school and school age children from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9, an official said on Saturday. Dr Joe Akabuike, the state Commissioner for Health, made this known to newsmen in Awka, saying that the exercise would cover children aged one to 15 years. He said that the exercise would be flagged-off by Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra at the Central School, Isi-Anaocha in Awka North Local Government Area. The commissioner said that the state-wide exercise would hold in all public and private primary and junior secondary schools to achieve the desired objectives. He said that the exercise was aimed at reducing worm loads on children and enhance their health. According to him, the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends periodic treatment with anthelminthic (de-worming) medicines, without previous individual diagnosis to pre-school and school age living in endemic areas. “Treatment should be given once a year when the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminth infections in a community is about 20 per cent and twice a year when the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminth infections in the community exceeds 50 per cent. “The regular de-worming of our children will reduce stunting, improve absorption rate of nutrients ingested through proper feeding, and promote general well being of our children,’’ Akabuike said. He added that the intervention would reduce child morbidity by eliminating worm burden. SOURCE: http://www.gistpark.com/2016/12/health-25million-children-in-anambra.html

Whats that saying about being battered but not broken? Toke Makinwa might be taking the marital plunge again after all.The popular OAP who has had mostly horrible things to say about her marital experience from her 18-month marriage to fitness trainer, Maje Ayida, says she just might give marriage another go. Speaking during a Chat with Encomium magazine, the 31-year-old made it clear that she is no longer bitter about her failed marriage and that anything could happen. When asked if she could give marriage another shot, she said, “It was a journey, we all go through different stages, we learn from them. “Marriage is a beautiful thing. Next time we would be talking, I might be a married woman, who knows. Life is a journey. You are allowed to grow, it is a journey of growth, and be open, do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it so that you can learn from your mistakes, become who you are supposed to be.” Speaking on her perception of marriage, she said, “It is a beautiful institution. I am not coming from a bitter place, you would accept what happened. “For me, it might be a marriage, for the next person, it might be a sick child. The most important thing is what you do with what you learnt from the situation. “You are allowed to grow, it is a journey of growth, and be open, do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it, so that you can learn from your mistakes, become who you are supposed to be.” Speaking further, she said, “No one should see that your life is not perfect but I am here to change that. People should see you in your worst, which is how they can appreciate your success story. People should see you when you are down and under because you would still come up. “If you reach the bottom, there is only one place to go which is the top. We need to eradicate shaming people to silence, most especially women. Women are held in high esteem. “You can’t show to the world that you are heartbroken, you can’t show to the world that your marriage is not perfect because people would look at you and think there is something wrong with you. But there is nothing wrong with that person. “She is walking through life. She is becoming what she is supposed to be. It is important that we unmask ourselves, let go off this tradition because people die in silence. There is more to life than the shame.” Makinwa's recently released must-tell book, "On Becoming", revealed the hell she endured in her marriage since finding out about her husband's betrayal in impregnating his longtime girlfriend, Anita Solomon. Makinwa only recently officially divorced her husband over adultery, cruelty and irreconcilable differences. SOURCE: http://www.gistpark.com/2016/12/toke-makinwa-wants-to-give-marriage.html

Asisat Lamina Oshoala MON (born 9 October 1994) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Arsenal Ladies of the FA WSL as a forward. She was named best player and was the highest goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She was also named best player and second top goalscorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women's Championship. On 23 January 2015, Oshoala joined Liverpool Ladies. Liverpool manager, Matt Beard called her "one of the best young players in the world". Although rumours had linked her with other clubs, she was very happy to join Liverpool. Oshoala missed two months of the 2015 season with a knee injury, as defending champions Liverpool finished seventh of eight teams. In January 2016 Liverpool reported that a transfer bid from Arsenal Ladies had activated the release clause in Oshoala's contract and that she was discussing personal terms with the London club. Oshoala found success as a forward for Nigeria's youth teams but made most of her early appearances for the senior national team as an attacking midfielder. She was nicknamed "Seedorf" after male footballer Clarence Seedorf and has also been referred to as "Superzee" by her teammates. She was named best player and with seven goals was also the top goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She was also named best player and second top goalscorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women's Championship. She also won the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year 2015. In September 2014 Oshoala was made a Member of the Order of the Niger by President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan. On 8 June 2015 in Winnipeg, Canada, Oshoala opened her senior FIFA Women's World Cup account by scoring Nigeria's second goal in a 3–3 draw with Sweden. Oshoala incurred the wrath of her parents when she dropped out of school to pursue a football career. She attributes her dislike of household pets to being a Muslim. And Oh lets not forget also that she made it possible for the great win of the AWCON 2016 for the Nigeria Super Falcons. SOURCE: http://www.gistpark.com/2016/12/all-you-need-to-know-about-asisat.html
