No one Worships Mary. Neither do we worship any statue. Catholics are generally misunderstood for idol worshippers just because of the many symbols and signs of veneration we have.

Let me define idle worship for you, according to Wikipedia - Idolatry literally means the worship of an "idol", also known as a cult image, in the form of a physical image, such as a statue or icon. In Abrahamic religions, namely Christianity, Islam and Judaism, idolatry connotes the worship of something or someone other than God as if it were God.

The statues/images/trees these people bow before are the gods, themselves. But not the same for Catholics. If you see any catholic wearing or bowing down to any statue, relic or religious sacramental like crucifix. Please note that we are not worshipping it, that symbol/image is a reflection of the real person and not the real thing, to whom worship or praise is meant to be. We pray or bow before them but the real prayers go to the one represented by the image. No Catholic Worships these images as God. They are just replica images to help in worship.

Let me give you an example, I have a beautiful picture of you and I admire, I peck and I praise the picture. Am I worshipping you by those actions? Does it mean I adore the picture than the real you? No! The praise goes to you, the picture is just a representation of you. The same way Catholics see images, statues and symbols of worship. They simple help us in worship just like songs of praise helps you get into the spirit.

By the way, God supported the creation of Images and symbols of worship. Here are few examples from the Bible, Exodus 37 , 1 - 10, numbers 21, 4 - 9.

The one thing God intended man to be while creating Adam - sinless. Dear, Far from being ashamed I am proud of my heritage. I was born a catholic but choose to remain a Catholic only out of the result of my intense study and belief in the doctrines of the church and the Holy scriptures. I won't contend with your claims about the church putting to death those who wont conform to its teachings in the past (though your claims of millions of death is highly exaggerated) we see the 'wisdom' in that in the so many translations and meanings given not only to christianity but basic beliefs and teachings like tithes, trinity, everlasting life and the rest you see today in the world. There are different versions of christianity, the bible and gospel message being spread about now. You would be shocked to hear some of them. I still imagine what the world would be like if only we had just one religion or version of christianity.

Lies? So miracles dont happen in that church? I dont know where you got this info about the stairs or if it indeed happened. Even if it did happen, why do you doubt the power of God to make it happen? He once walked on water and raised the dead! (Why wont his mother appear to her children then). True God doesn't love Mary more than He loves you. he loves me as equally as he loves you. he has no favorites. expect, David in the bible (pun intended). Its not an insult to go through the mother to the father and the church does not prevent anyone from going to the father directly. Many examples abound of teachings that show how to go Jesus or the father straight in prayers. Many Catholic do go through Mother Mary because they believe she can intercede for them better. Do I need to tell you that our sins sometimes prevent our prayers from being answered but catholic believe that someone in heaven (mary for instance) can intercede for them and despite their sins God can answer their prayers. Do you understand what Intercede means?

please go through the history of christianity, not just what your pastors say, go back in time from the beginning then you'll have a broader opinion about not just catholics or christianity and your own faith but religion in general. Communication in relationship is very vital esp. if its a long distance one. Though the comparison with her sisters brother is very wrong but do try and call her more often.
