Health › Re: That Sweet Bottle Of Soda Might Be Quietly Killing You by InvertedHammer: 11:11pm On Apr 01 |
Qwikkie: In Nigeria, drinking soda is not just a habit, it's a culture. You go to a buka, there's cold soda on the table. You attend a party, the fridge is loaded with any cold soda. You're stressed at work, someone says "calm down, with something cold." We've normalised it so deeply that questioning it feels almost... rude.
Though nobody is telling that the sugar in those drinks is slowly and silently stacking up damage inside your body. And by the time you start to feel it, the harm has been building for years. What Excess Sugar Actually Does to Your Body
The scary part is that sugar doesn't send you warning signs early. It quietly does its damage, and by the time your body raises an alarm, through fatigue, excess weight, or a doctor's result. the habit is already deeply rooted.
This is what's happening inside you with every excess sip:
Type 2 Diabetes: Nigeria has one of the highest diabetes rates in Africa. Excess sugar keeps your blood glucose spiking and crashing, wearing down your body's ability to manage insulin over time.
Obesity and weight gain: Sugary drinks add hundreds of empty calories that your body doesn't register as "full." You drink, you're still hungry, you eat and the cycle never breaks.
High blood pressure and heart disease: Sugar inflames your blood vessels and puts pressure on your heart. Hypertension is not just a "blood pressure thing" sugar is deeply connected. And in a country where hypertension is already rampant, this is not something to take lightly.
This Is Not About Suffering
Enjoyment is not the enemy. Ignorance is.
Many Nigerians are not drinking soda because they don't care about their health, they're drinking it because no one sat them down and explained what it does to the body over time, in plain language, without a lecture.
Your pancreas doesn't care that you were just trying to cool down in the afternoon heat. Your liver doesn't make exceptions because the party was fun. The body keeps an honest score even when we're not paying attention.
Start paying attention. Not with fear but with love for yourself and the people around you. Because the real enjoyment is being alive, healthy, and fully present for all the future parties, bukaterias, and cold evenings still ahead of you / And you don't realize that some people's business depend on people being sick or dying? You are spoiling business for them. How do you think people in healthcare and funeral businesses feel reading your advise on how to stay healthy? Behave yourself! / |
Crime › Re: VeryDarkMan: Blord Remanded In Kuje Prison (Video) by InvertedHammer: 11:07pm On Apr 01 |
/ In Igbo land, there is what is known as "njakiri". You may talk to an Igbo person in a certain way and it will be laughed off. But try that with other people, you get punched, stabbed or the least, thrown in jail. In dealing with people from different cultures, many fail to realize that there is a thin line between njakiri statements and legal troubles. BLord is just one of many that fell into that trap. Oh well.... everything is not a joke. / |

alphonsojidebab: “Is the Money Still There?” — Bishop Oyedepo Sparks Debate on Vote Buying in Nigeria
https://eyesoflagos.com/2026/04/01/bishop-oyedepo-vote-buying-warning-nigeria/ / Oga should go and rest. I believe his voice has better use than to be wasted on Nigerians. I will prefer indifference on his part. Don't try saving those who don't want to be saved. Everyone is complaining except those that own funeral homes and coffin makers. To them, Nigerian government is the gift that keeps giving. Throw in readily and willfully vulnerable masses, it is El Dorado! / |

givedemwotowoto: Tibor Nagy was former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs under President Trump (2018–2021)
Source / Lies from the pit of hell! Nigerian government can manage their pathetic losers well....not when a bag of rice is involved with prepackaged lies and soundbites from microphones. Throw in N5k and many will swear with their lives that Tinubu's mandate is divine. Nigerians sure like the way the country is structured. Everyone is waiting for his/her turn to join the looting. Stopping now is too late. Connection or Corruption? It is a matter of semantics. / |
Politics › Re: 'Peter Obi Lied To Me' - Apostle Kassy Chukwu Tells His Church Members (Video) by InvertedHammer: 6:56pm On Apr 01 |
/ Politics is not about emotion.
Nobody can win election without coalition...unless you want to nominate Peter Obi and then gather all the angels in heaven to be Poll Unit agents, sponsors, even the VP.
People talk as if they are not in Nigeria--the land of shenanigans. Many people yapping won't even show up to vote. And when they do, hundreds of able-bodied men will be standing around and 3 thugs will intimidate them. Imagine!
I want Tinubu to continue beyond 2027. Don't for a minute think that I am not enjoying the tragi-comedy that is Nigeria. But as always, it is best to be entertained from the sidelines.

They deserve their leaders.

If this were to be in US, one pointdexter will run off the road and sue him for all he is worth. He has to provide the certificate/license that qualifies him to control the traffic in court. In the absence of that, they will throw the book at him. Sometimes being highly litigious could be advantageous and this is one of such scenarios.
