Onlytruth: Thanks again. Good deduction! The international community now knows which tribes have been ruining Nigeria. They'd understand why any rational human will want out. Like I said in another thread, the Igbo don't need to do anything. The future is ours, head or tail! Show me what the vast population of the poor in Hausa/fulani /yoruba has gained just because their son is president? For all I know they are even worse off that the Igbo poor, is there more light in the north, or more roads in the west? did OBJ give free education to Yoruba universities? or has Yar Adua built free houses for the northern poor? What I am trying to say is that the opressors are united in the state houses and the fereral legislating chambers, allocating huge sums of money to themselves in the form of property allowances, salaries, commitee fundings, and miscellaneous expenses which will run int billions. In that highest seat of power, you will see the yoruba, the hausa, ijaw, igbo, kanuri, urhobo, efik, edo, nupe, tiv, kalabari, fulani, ibibio, igbira, etc, etc and they will be united in one mission TO DEFRAUD THE REST OF US AND AMASS AS MUCH LOOT AS POSSIBLE. These guys have no conscience, no fear, no restraint, no morals and no mercy. They have subjected the poor to suffer perpetually without hope, frustrating every attempt to better the nation, blocking every legislation that will not favour their bank account. You can find these thieves in every nook and cranny of the nation, you all know them, they are our friends and relatives but they are our worst enemies. They want to turn us against ourselves so we shall be in confusion while they loot us blind. Speak out against bad leadership today, stop corrupt practices even if it is being perpetrated by your own brother. Dont pamper evil just because your townsman is the one benefiting from it. God will bless all of us, amen. |

Yommuk, we dont need your trust to survive. Stop sounding even more tribalistic than the poeple you say are tribalists. We have a common problem in this country and its called corruption, until we all face that war and fight it, we shall continue to be stagnant in this nation.
We should be planning on how to stop those among us who we know are stealing or doing dubious things to survive. Take that step today and forget fighting tribal wars. |

That Emirates cup Arsenal won should last them for another few years as I dont think they can win it by this time next year since their team will be depleted by then. Players like Fab4, Clichy, and half of the current squad will be will be sold to Man city. |

Eziachi: By going back to basics. Going back to what our anccestors taught us about stealing, which we lost inside a very crowded Nigeria. In Igboland, every town has build at least self help Roads, Hospitals, Schools by levying themselves through the town union or the age group societies and these money is always given to some people for safe keeping and manage it for the community. How many times have you heard about this money missing? And if it does, will that person and his family live to tell the story in that same town? Then ask yourself why it becomes different when it come to govt money or Nigerian money?
Hausa, Yoruba, Nupe, Ijo (Ijaw), Igbo etc, all has strong cultural heritage that could have taken care of this issues but we all left them behind because Nigeria represents a no man's land. Do you notice how Nigerians are well behaved at foreign airports and then watch the same people once they touched down at Lagos?
OME NA ANI will tackle corruption inside Biafra. Nigeria don't have OME NA ANI because it has no root but a creation of a white man so people make their own and it called Nigerian way.
And how many of those ruling today from north to south a chosen by their people. Awolowo, Okpara and Saduana did wonder in their region because they are the choice of their people and they supported by their cultural heritage. Everything turned on his head with one Nigeria without any sort of cultural identity to look up to. In Igboland it's called NSO ANI- How do I explain NSO ANI to an Hausa man?Igbo Enwe eze attitude did our ancestors wonders, because no one will take his people for granted and everybody has a say and it's called IGWE BU IKE.
I have heard people saying: what if this and what if that? How are you sure it not going the same as with Nigeria and the same politicians? Life base on progressive doen't rely on what ifs. If people are thinking of men killed in war, no one will ever join the army. Because what if, if he is killed too? If you base your life on what if because of a business failed, no one will ever restart a new business when the first had failed. I don know when last you visited Nigeria after reading the bolded part. I arrested my town union chairman last xmas for embezling the money I donated for building our umunna town hall and the issue quickly degenerated into a family vs family scuffle. In the end my traditional ruler invited both of us and tried to settle the problem. Less than 10% of the work was done and I gave the money that was sopposed to finish that hall. The man is walking free today, even threatening me to come back again and face more fights. Town union my foot! |

Articles like this make me wonder if we really know what we are asking for. By returning to our OMENANI and taking crimes seriously only by calling it NSO-ANI is all you think will solve our corruption. A return to the basics you said? Like tying loin clothes on the men and the ladies will be walking bare chested with their "wetin-call" dangling around for awon guys to "evaluate" the turgidity Next thing you will say is that people will stop drinking beer and start drinking palm wine in a calabash cup! c'mon on, the world has since moved on and crimes are more sophisticated than the OMENANI days. A society where kids watch porn on their laptops and phones and you are talking of NSO-ANI? Now I will start to hear that Biafra will solve all problems, and even fry my eggs in the morning. WE CANNOT WISH AWAY CORRUPTION, IT'S IN THE AIR WE BREATHE AND ONLY GOD CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR US, EVEN HERE, EVEN NOW. |

Onlytruth: Certainly not the way Nigeria has been tackling it. This is how Nigeria tackles it: Party affiliation (PDP must rule for 60 years, thieves are used for election rigging), sacred cows (which ensure Ribadu got kicked out and was humiliated), Sectional supremacy (which ensures that some of the biggest thieves are out of jail). One thing that I know is that the Igboman's sense of outrage will never allow such grand theft to happen in Igboland. Some of the thieving Governors we have now were never voted by us and were imposed. Even upon that, I can tell you that Enugu, Anambra and Imo (60% of Igbo governors) are doing well. Just allow us first to elect our leader, then watch! I really challenge this to happen. So for now, all I can tell you is that Igbo have a strong sense of right and wrong, plus that we have a republican population that is not led by the nose. A population that will challenge corruption if the thief is not enjoying Federal protection. I took time to explain this (and I'm by no means exhaustive) because some Igbo truly feel like you do. An American friend of mine told me that our problem is not a lack of knowledge of what the problems are, but after giving eloquent speeches and making good plans like the one above, none will be implimented. It will be the Igboman's sense of outrage vs the Igboman's overbearing greed. And dont pretend to me that the Igbman has a stronger sense of right and wrong that any other joe out there on the streets. That republican population that cannot be led by the nose will be our major undoing, that 'Igbo enwe eze' attitude will always breed a bitter followership. A population that will challenge corruption? You think Biafra will not have a federal arrangement that will ensure protection for the leaders, no matter how corrupt they are? We can talk from here to Jerusalem and still arrive at no conclusions because "IHE N' ESI NWA MKPI ISI DI YA N' OBARA" |

okunoba: @invincible, ur comments on this thread as been the most rational and thought full, my only problem is ur desire to see Igbo`s dominate their fellow black brothers. I 4 one will not like to be dominated by any race or ethnic group. If we are fighting against domination y do we want to dominate others.
To my Igbo kins, I understand ur pain and anger, the sufferings from the Biafran war can`t just be forgotten. Too many lives were lost for that to happen so soon, but at the same time we can`t let it cloud our reasoning. The suffering of the Igbo`s in Nigeria is no different to that of the Hausa, Kanuri, Yoruba, Ibibio or ogoni`s or indeed the sufferings of most Africans. We all suffer from the same corrupt leaders that cut across all ethnic groups. We all suffer the same pain of having no water, electricity, good roads, hospitals, security. We all have to go through the headache of bribery and corruption. The Igbo`s we can even say are in a better position than the rest of us, as the poverty level in the east is alot better than the rest of Nigeria and rightly so, they have worked 4 it. In war sometimes the loser can end up being the winner, Germany and Japan lost the 2 W war but were winners in the long run with their economic power, Igbo`s are in a similar situation today. BY playing the victim and pointing fingers at other ethnic groups for all the ills of Nigeria without accepting a shared responsibility will only create anger and mistrust. We are in this together, about time the poor masses of Nigeria come together as one to fight the corrupt and greedy leaders that have failed us. We the younger generation must move away from the ethnic bigotry of our parents, if not we will 4 ever be trapped in the endless circle of hate and violence that brings it`s ugly head at any minor provocation. Thank you brother, we all cannot be hustled into a confrontation without first verifying the authenticity of the people calling for division. We must first ask questions to see if we are not moving from frying pan into fire. Are the demands genuine? Do we have a real need for seperation or are there other options open for us to pursue? I will support the movement for seperation if 1. Igbos are barred from ruling themselves and other ethnic groups are governors in the east. 2. Igbos are barred from transacting any type of business they desire to do 3. Igbos are barred from buying and building their own houses in any part of Nigeria 4. They are denied freedom of movement. 5. They are stopped from going to school 6. They are barred from using any national infrastructure, like airports, seaports, roads etc |

Eziachi: You are trying hard to create an impression that every Igbo man are expected to support Biafra. I don't know what gave you that idea, as I have never seen a cause that is been fought and 100% of the people are alll on board. NEVER. So that making out something that no one had said. What matters is the majority opinion, even though the minority must be heard. Does the majority of Igbos support Biafra 100%? |

Onlytruth: Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Taiwan, and much much more. These countries are far more stable than their previous unions. The grass will always look greener on the other side, Nigeria is bad, it will better with time. I was born into Nigeria for a reason, better not ask God why, my focus on the goal post and less of wishing has gotten me where I am today. People always wish for things to get better immediately without working for it (the quick fix) People always want to ignore the problem before them and focus on the distant ones (misplaced priorities) People always choose who they want to blame, excluding the real cause of the problem (transfered agression) People always love to ignore the mistakes of the past, instead trying to repeat them again (short memory) The only lesson history has taught us is that the past will always repeat itself, ALWAYS! |
