PoliticsKalu Urges Judges To Emulate US Colleagues by ipreach(op): 7:25am On Mar 21, 2017
Billionaire businessman and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has tasked judges to emulate their colleagues in the United States instead of compromising on justice.

This is even as he commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against terrorism, urging him us similar tactics to fix the economy.

Speaking in Washington DC, United States yesterday, during a dinner hosted by Chief Daniel Eke, Kalu said the US judiciary is strong, which was evidenced with what happened between it and President Donald Trump.

He said all the judiciaries in Africa, especially Nigeria should stand up and emulate US and other countries

“They should stand up and give us judgment by the law, no matter the condition they find themselves,” he said.

The former governor decried situations where judges jail innocent citizens for something they never did, adding that it was time people rose to defend the judiciary.

Recounting the genesis of his case with Nigerian anti-graft agency, Kalu said he had declined many interviews over the lingering case, noting that since it is already in a court of competent jurisdiction, it was appropriate he reserves his comments.

He also lamented the ill-treatment he has received from his former party, the PDP, which he claimed had benefited very much from him.

He said: “We need to know that living on rumour and accusing people of something they never did, accusing genuine leaders who means well, of alleged wrong they never did. All of you know that if the PDP was a company, I ought to own 90 per cent of it, because in 1998 I gave the party its first N500 million. By then, I wasn’t in government. I also gave the presidential candidate, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, over N100 million in 1998.

“How many Nigerians would have done that? Yet the same government, the same PDP, took my bank, took my airline, took my oil licence, to put me out of business entirely because I proposed that I must run for president in 2007, I also opposed the 3rd term, which they are denying today.”

Further speaking , he said: “Yes I am being tried by the EFCC, but I have people who work with British intelligence. I have people who work with United States intelligence and they know that even when President Obasanjo wrote to Tony Blair about me, Tony Blair told him they won’t arrest me me in London because I was not corrupt. When he also wrote to President Bush Junior, he wrote him back and told him they won’t arrest me because I hadn’t committed any offence.”

Kalu said God used people like him to pull Nigeria together, adding that Nigerians know those who are corrupt and urged the law enforcement agencies not to overlook them

“The law enforcement agencies should go after them and fight corruption, which is a major challenge to Nigeria’s development. I am a trustee of Nigeria dream, but a few Nigerians are putting what I put in 1998 of which most of them today are billionaires, but nobody ask them how they made the money. These are people who couldn’t afford one kobo, one naira or one cent for their living.

“So, people should fight corruption the right way. Obviously, I cannot talk about this now because we are already in the court of record and court of competent jurisdiction. I believe the court will decide who is right and wrong. I believe in the liberty and profoundness of the judiciary and I believe in the sanctity of the law and I believe that the law should not be a respecter of nobody, people should respect the law and not the law respecting them.

“I also believe that if I am wrong I should be punished and if I am right I should be asked to go to my house, because, I have suffered, internationally. I have lost all the credit lines I am doing business with. We have lost reward from international business people. We have lost doing business with them for the past 10 years and we have lost almost everything, but we give thanks to God. “ Kalu who spoke amid many professionals drawn from different fields, including US intelligence, restated his belief in a unified Nigeria with restructuring and also urged the Nigerian President to extend his success in fight against terrorism to the economy.

He said: “ Restructuring is a must. If we restructure politically and economically and reduce the states to eight or 10 regions or federating units, we will be in the states and contribute to the federal.

“I call on the president to tackle the economy, the same way he tackled Boko Haram, so that Nigerians will benefit from their country because Nigerians are not asking for much, they are only asking for three meals on their table, decent health care, decent school for their children, decent places for them to go and move freely for their business. I must commend the President and all the service Chiefs for the good job they are doing especially in winning the terrorism fight. “

Speaking on President Buhari, who the former governor said their friendship ties dated over 25 years, Kalu reiterated that Buhari’s presidential emergence was providential and should be supported. He sympathised with the family of the President for their hard times during the president’s illness

His words: “Buhari is back to give Nigerians qualitative leadership, I sympathise with the family of the president for the trauma they have gone through, I sympathiae with his relations and Nigerians in general, and as a Katsina tittle holder, Mayaki Katsina, for the trauma we went through during the president stay in United Kingdom. The President is human. He can be sick like every other Nigerian. He can see things he never planned for. He never envisioned he would fall sick but only God knows the reason.

“I have known him closely for over 25 to 30 years, so I can talk about him; but this is not the time to talk about him, we will only pray to God to that he should have the desire to give Nigeria constitutional development, constitutional leadership that will change the suffering of the Nigerian people who are today looking for food.”

Kale gave assurance that the coming of Buhari was not man-made. “It is from God. He might be imperfect in some areas but he is also perfect in many other areas. God will use his perfect areas to re-establish his name in Nigeria. God will use his perfect areas to re-access for the common man. Things are very difficult. Yes, I agree, but I call on the president to use everything he has within his power to bring back the economy to where it ought to be. I don’t need to say much tonight, but I want us to continue celebrating Nigeria.

PoliticsJonathan To Nigerians: Wike Transforming Rivers by ipreach(op): 7:00am On Mar 21, 2017
Wherever you go today in Nigeria, the story of the outstanding performance of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has become the trending item. For 22 months, this story kept on filtering into the ears of the immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan.

As has become the common practice of high profile Nigerians, the immediate past Nigerian President decided to come and see things for himself. He saw first hand, the transformation taking place in Rivers State.

Governor Wike has added value to Rivers State. He has made the people proud. He has transformed the state into a huge construction site, empowering the people in the process. There is no other state in Nigeria where the governor is working in line with his campaign promises.

The beauty of Governor Wike’s performance is that it has lifted the state above negative propaganda, unproductive politics, reckless security agencies schemes and placed it on the platform of progress. The governor’s performance has a magnetic force that pulls all lovers of development towards Rivers State.

This time it was Former President Goodluck Jonathan that was attracted to the state. As a Former President, Goodluck Jonathan understands the art and science of development and he appreciates strategic development efforts.

His views about the developmental progress made in Rivers State under the leadership of Governor Wike were quite insightful. They will help other leaders seeking to make the desired impact in their areas of assignment.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan after his visit to Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday, March 18, 2017 declared that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has performed creditably well since assuming office 22 months ago, transforming the state in the process .

The Former President was led on a tour of projects in the Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday. The Governor led the Forner President round projects such as the new amphitheatre, the Government House Chapel, Restored Brick House (Former Seat of Power in Rivers State), New Corridor of Power and Extended Landscape.

The Former President stated that Wike is a worthy representative of the PDP.

He praised the governor for keeping the torch shinning by his exemplary performance, which has justified his election by the people of Rivers State.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan noted that Governor Wike’s outstanding performance has become the common story across the country, pointing out that he has been hearing about the good works of the governor for sometime, pointing out that the governor has lived up to his reputation.

He noted that since Governor Wike was sworn in, Saturday was his first time of driving round Port Harcourt. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of transformation he witnessed enroute the Government House, Port Harcourt.

He said: “I am part of Rivers State. I grew up in Rivers State and Bayelsa was carved out of Rivers State. Also, my wife is from Rivers State. Today, is my first day of visiting Rivers State since Wike assumed office as Governor. Twenty two months down the line, I am quite impressed with what I have seen.

“First, I heard so much, people have told me of the changes in Port Harcourt. I was told that I can’t even recognise the roads to where I used to live . As we drove into the city, I noticed that he has done very well in various areas.”

Former President Jonathan stated: “One thing I must commend Wike is that he has positive traits. I always believe that wherever you find yourself, add value. Governor Wike has added value in Rivers State. He has done weĺl to show his signature.

“Wike has taken us round. We have seen how he has ptransformed the Brick House and maintain that Brick House. We saw the changes he has made in some places in the Governmenr House, including building an amphitheatre, a new chapel for worship, relaxing places and general beautification.
“If you are the Chief Executive of an institution, you stay for two years and you add no value, then you have no vision. Wike is doing well and we commend him. He is a good representative of the PDP who is committed to developing his people.”

He thanked Nigerians for appreciating his contributions to the development of the country, even after he left office.

Speaking while conducting the Former President round the projects at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Wike said his commitment is to lift the state to higher heights. He noted that the Old Brick was restored with certain additions because of the need to preserve history of governance in the state. The governor noted that the New Amphitheatre being constructed at the Government House would host high profile guests who visit the state.

According to him, the New Government House, Port Harcourt Chapel which will host about 300 persons would provide a venue for interdenominational Christian Worship.

He thanked the Former President for the visit , assuring him that he will continue to live up to the expectations of the people.

Before Former President Goodluck Jonathan came, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had testified. Former Senate President David Mark voiced his approval. Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu declared his respect for Governor Wike’s outstanding Performance and Senate Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio praised the governor’s excellent delivery of projects.

The list of those who appreciate the good works of Governor Wike is endless. The market woman, the youth, the men, the clerics, the civil servants, the professionals and the athletes. In Rivers State, everyone feels the impact of good governance. That is why the state is off limits for election riggers.

Performance is a beauty, which everyone appreciates. Performance is a force for security and stability, which Governor Wike has used to move Rivers State forward. The creation of New Rivers is on course. Everyone is enjoying the rhythm. As they insist across the state, this song will last till 2023

Christianity Etc5 Characteristics Of Faith by ipreach(op): 10:27am On Mar 19, 2017
“Faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
Faith is the strong persuasion and belief that God is able to and will perform all that He has promised in His word.

It is the conviction and assurance that you have received the substance of what is expected even when it’s not yet visible to the natural eyes. To put it simply, faith is convinced that it has what it’s expecting before it has the physical evidence. It does not stop there, it goes ahead to act as if it has what it asked for or wanted, even when no one sees the physical evidence.
What are the features or characteristics of faith?

1. It obeys the Word of God: Faith doesn’t operate outside the will or Word of God. It moves in obedience to the instructions and commands of God. You cannot claim to have faith in God if you live contrary to His Word or willfully and flagrantly disobey Him.

2. It acts on God’s Word or promises: Your faith must be accompanied with action; that is, your action must correspond with your belief. Faith is active, not dormant (James 2:17). That means except you put what you believe into action, your faith is inactive and dead.

3. It expects: Actually, without expectation, there is no faith. Faith finds expression in expectation, and expectation leads you to get the desired result or accomplish your goal.

4. It is patient: faith patiently waits for the physical realization of its expectation. The Bible says; “If we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it”; for “we have need of patience, that, after we have done the will of God, we might receive the promise He made us.” (Romans 8:25; Hebrews 10 36). It also encourages us to be “followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promise” (Hebrews 6:12).

5. It confesses positively: faith makes a positive confession, even when a situation is negative. In 2 kings 4:26, the Shunammite woman says, “It is well,” when in reality she had just lost her only child, and because of her confession of faith, God revived the child. The Bible commands, “Let the weak say, I am strong” (Joel 3:10).

Positive confession builds your faith, increases your confidence and brings the desired result.

I’ve written about why your website needs to be guest friendly, but I haven’t written much about how it should interface with your members.

Needless to say, your church’s website should serve your members as well.

The problem is that too many church websites don’t. Some churches put so much effort in guest information, that they overlook information and features that would appeal to members and have them use the site more. These are the seven most common reasons church members don’t use your church’s website:

1. You don’t have a church calendar. Almost every church management software includes a church calendar in its functionality. You can embed it on your website or use another calendar tool to keep event information in front of your members. Google Calendar or a calendar plugin on your website are the most common alternate methods churches use to place event information and schedules online.

2. You’re not using social media well. Your members are the ones who are most likely to engage with your church on social media. If you’re not using social media well, you’re not going to engage your members well. When you provide sharable content on social media, you will draw members and guests alike to your church’s website.

3. You don’t provide media to consume. Church members miss services from time to time. Many want to catch up on what they missed. Therefore, if you don’t have sermon videos or sermon podcasts on your church’s site, they can’t watch or listen to what they miss. A full media offering will draw more members to your website, and is a great resource for guests wanting to get to know more about your church.

4. You don’t have online giving or online registration. Both of these tools allow members to make easy payments on your site. Obviously, online giving is much more than a payment, but if you don’t offer it, that is just one fewer reason for members to visit your site. Online registration for upcoming events and the ability to pay for any associated costs is also simple to install and helpful to members.

5. You don’t publicize your church website. When you have information, event registration, and church-related media on your website, it will lead you to talk more about it. If every event you host requires (or strongly encourages) online registration, your church members will use your website more than if the event registration is a clipboard in the fellowship hall.

6. You don’t have a church website. There is really no excuse here. A Facebook page is not a substitute for a website.

7. You don’t have analytics or stats to know if church members are using the site or not. If you don’t have data about what pages are being accessed on your site, you’ll never know who’s using it or what they’re using it for. You’ve got to have data to make informed decisions about what to emphasize.

Have a nice day.

PoliticsIt Is A National Disgrace – Ezekwesili by ipreach(op): 6:55am On Mar 16, 2017
Former Minister of Education Dr Oby Ezekwesili has accused the administration of President MuhammaduBuhari of digging the anti-corruption war into a credibility hole.

Ezekwesili was reacting, via her twitter handle @obyezeks, to the second rejection of Ibrahim Magu as substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

She said between the Presidency of MuhammaduBuhari and the Senate of BukolaSaraki “whatever game is being played with the EFCC is a national disgrace.”

Ezekwesili said the presidency should explain to citizens why President Buhari who is privy to the DSS report on Magu re-nominated him to Senate.

The former minister also lashed out at the Senate saying “I don't know what percentage of citizens still have any expectation of good from the Senate of BukolaSaraki. That is all the feedback they deserve.”

She said “a government that campaigned on anti-corruption is making a mockery of its war. Pitiful”

The Senate had based their decision to reject Magu who was re-nominated by the president on another report by the DSS.

In a letter re-nominating Magu, the president had said that a report by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had cleared the anti-graft czar.

CrimeMan Rapes, Impregnates 16-year-old During Deliverance by ipreach(op): 1:24pm On Mar 15, 2017
For allegedly raping and impregnating a teenager, Joe Pelle, 37, was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Pelle, who resides at 11, Prince Bayo St., Igbogbo, Ikorodo, Lagos State, is facing a charge of raping a 16-year-old girl.

The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offence in November 2016 at Ikorodu.

Ogu said that the mother of the victim took her to the house of the accused for deliverance.

He said, “The accused took the victim to a river, bathed her before taking her to a hotel.

“The accused raped the girl and threatened to kill her if she tells anyone of what transpired between them.”

Ogu said that, thereafter, the 16-year-old victim felt sick. She was taken to the hospital from where it discovered that she was pregnant.

He said the offence contravened Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Taiwo Akanni granted the accused N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

She ruled that the case file be duplicated and sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) for legal advice.

Akanni adjourned the case to April 5 when she hoped to have received the DPPs’ advice.

PoliticsEkiti PDP Accuses Sheriff Of Receiving $1m From APC by ipreach(op): 7:29am On Mar 15, 2017
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has reiterated that the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the party was being sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sustain the party’s quest for a one-party state in Nigeria.

Ekiti PDP alleged that “Senator Sheriff and his cohorts’ receipt of $1 million from the APC to organise a convention and the open support of the group by some elements in the APC is enough to show where they belong.”

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Jackson Adebayo said “Senator Sheriff group can best be described as APC Two while Chief Odigie Oyegun leads the APC One.”

The PDP said it was strange that people, who are laying claim to leadership of the PDP, the main opposition party in the country have not utter a word against the bad policies of the APC-led federal government.

Adebayo asked; “They are going about claiming that they love PDP and their actions are informed by their desire to strengthen the party. How do you strengthen an opposition party when you are more or less an ally of the ruling party?

“You rejoiced when PDP lost governorship elections in Ondo and Edo States, yet you are claiming to love the party, how sensible can that be?

“You are claiming that you want PDP to return to power in 2019, yet, you are planning a convention to be sponsored by the APC with as much as $1 million, how do you reconcile that?”

The PDP in Ekiti State challenged the Senator Sheriff group to tell Nigerians, especially supporters of the PDP what the end result of any convention sponsored with $1 million from the APC will be.
