The Ekiti State House of Assembly on Tuesday issued a warrant of arrest against former Governor Kayode Fayemi over alleged corruption. The assembly had on Thursday summoned Fayemi to appear before it on Tuesday (yesterday) to defend himself, threatening to issue a warrant of arrest. But the Minister of Mines and Steel Development failed to honour the invitation, making the assembly to make good its threat. The assembly, pursuant to Section 129(1) (d) of the 1999 Constitution, ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibahim Idris, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu and other security agencies, including international Police to immediately arrest the serving Minister. The decision was taken at the plenary through a resolution by the lawmakers. Addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, Speaker Kola Oluwawole; the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Dr. Samuel Omotoso and the Leader, Tunji Akinyele, said the summon was to enable the minister to defend the allegations. Omotoso recalled that the assembly had earlier summoned the former governor on March 10 and August 27, 2016 with a reminder on January 30, 2017, which were declined by Fayemi. “During Governor Kayode Fayemi’s government, he awarded a N304m contract for planting of flowers for urban renewal project in Ado Ekiti. Over 50% of the contract sum had been paid but there is no single flower anywhere. “The former governor also purchased 133 vehicles for royal fathers. The vehicles were given out in August 2013 and the contract papers were done in November. This was a clear case of misappropriation. “He also paid N24m for the construction of Awedele Market. The money was paid to a phoney company and no construction was seen. The most disturbing was that, eight days to the expiration of his tenure, Fayemi withdrew a sum of N852m from University Basic Education Commission account which he was not a signatory to and diverted to other areas we could not trace. “The former governor also paid a sum of N115m for the construction of a new Governor’s office. But no structure was put in place as we speak. The same was witnessed in the construction of the State Pavilion, the governor’s lodge and the 5km road projects, where billions were diverted. He even took N4bn loan four days before he left office. “All these needed explanations. The summon was not meant to harass him. This is just an opportunity for him to clear his name. But should The security agencies failed to bring him here, then we will go the legal way, because we have the constitutional powers to summon any former or serving chief executive.” http://aitnews.com.ng/2017/02/07/ekiti-assembly-orders-igp-to-arrest-fayemi/

I started blogging in 2014 and then like every other newbie, what I needed so badly was traffic so I engaged my younger sibling to always share my blog link on social media whenever he comment at least with that people can easily navigate to my blog and that he consistently and perfectly did. But something regrettable happened. One day, he told me that anytime he shared anytime he try to create a thread with post from my blog, he got banned. Then, it occured to me that my URL have been flagged as spam. I tried it myself, my account was banned. Please, oga Seun , have mercy and unfreeze my URL I have important thing to share but its very unfortunate that I can not be able to share them because of the present condition of my URL. At least, I am enlightened on the laws of nairaland, and have being trying my best not to break any of those rules. Or, is there anything I can do to rectify the problem? Please whatever it will take I will do it as long as I can handle it. I will be grateful if people will be posting my religious post here without their account being ban as I sometimes receive email that their account was banned on naira land because they shared my content. Please, have mercy! Thanks in anticipation. Cc: Seun and Lalasticlala |

The Action Congress (AC) has renewed its call on the Federal Government to give Nigerians a daily update on the health of President Umaru Yarâ Adua to stem the growing rumours surrounding his state of health. In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the current situation whereby ministers and aides of the President give out uncoordinated information on his health, is doing more harm than good. “It is clear to discerning Nigerians that those pretending to speak authoritatively on the Presidents health are deceiving the public, since they are neither well informed on the issue nor competent to speak on it. “Therefore, a daily briefing by the Minister of Information, based on authentic details provided by the Presidents doctors, should start forthwith. As we have said many times, the health of the President, as a public figure can no longer be of interest only to his family and friends. Nigerians have a right to know, AC said. The party also called on the Federal Executive Council, FEC, the only body constitutionally empowered to start the process of determining whether or not the President can continue in office on the basis of his health, to rise above mundane considerations and put the nation interest first. The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), says it has mobilised no fewer than 15,000 Nigerian youths to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, from vacation. The President proceeded on a 10-day vacation in London on Jan. 23 and is expected to return to Nigeria on Feb. 6, 2017. Malam Gambo Jagindi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President of NYCN, Murtala Gamji, made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja. Jagindi said that time had come for Nigerian youths, who are the future leaders of the country to show love, solidarity and support for the President, who is their current leader. “ The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has concluded arrangements to mobilise not less than 15,000 of its members to be at Abuja airport on Feb. 6, to welcome President Buhari from vacation. “It is on record that integrity, discipline and honesty are gradually returning to our public life unlike in the past when impunity was the order of the day,’’ the spokesman said. He berated those spreading rumours of death about the President. He said: “we all know that they do not have the interest of our country at heart and are only wishing to carry on with the looting of our treasury in the absence of our president.’’ Jagindi said that Buhari’s assignment for Nigeria was not yet over, adding that only God could determine who lived or died. He commended the president’s efforts to rid the country of what he termed, “undesirable elements’’ who did not mean well for Nigeria and Nigerians. He urged Buhari to continue with the good work as the youths of Nigeria were solidly behind him. He noted that in spite of the “corrupt mafias’’ working to undermine the anti-corruption war, Nigerian youths under NYCN would continue to support Buhari’s laudable programmes. He said: ''Presidency is not going to stop people from expressing their fundamental human rights.'' ''People have the right to protest. Whoever they want to support or oppose is their right.'' ''Government is not in the business of countering any protest.'' Recall that 2Face Idibia had earlier in the week called for the support of his fans and colleagues via his social media platforms to join his march against the crippling economic state of the nation.
