Christianity EtcHouseboy In Edo Tortured Over Witchcraft Accusation (Video) by itsdumebi(op): 3:24pm On Jan 06, 2017
A young unidentified was repeatedly abused by his caretakers over witchcraft allegations in Edo state. According to an eyewitness, Smart Adoghe, the child was serving as a houseboy to a woman and her family.

The abuse reportedly started after a pastor accused the boy of witchcraft.

Smart's account;

This is what a neighbor of mine did to a child kept in her care. I was told that they accuse the child of witchcraft (one pastor told them) and they have been beating up the child for quite some time now, lock her outside with hands and legs tied till morning. It was brought to my attention by my maiguard who could no longer bear what he sees.

The child was so abused that it attracted the attention of neighbors around who almost lynched the said woman and since then nobody knows the where about of the child. When confronted the woman said the father of the child has come to take her, but the neighbors fear that the child might be dead because they never saw anybody come to the house to pick up the child.

Please I want justice for this child and at least we should know the where about of the child first because she needs medical attention. This woman should be made to produce this child where ever she is. I was told this child has been with this woman since when she was three months old when she lost her mother.

Though we are neighbors i do not mind risking my relationship with them, i will come out to testify and point out the house to which ever authorities are interested in getting justice for this child as i can never be friends with people who have the evil heart of abusing a child to this level.

PoliticsOhakim Blasts Rochas Okorocha As Pensioners Block Governor's Motorcade (photos) by itsdumebi(op): 11:54am On Jan 06, 2017
Ohakim chides Rochas over abandonement of projects

Okorocha's motorcade blocked by protesting pensioners

Chief Ikedi Ohakim, a former governor of Imo state has fired a stinker to the present government of the state, saying that under Rochas Okorocha, the state has backslided in terms of governance.

Ohakim stated this, when he stopped to see for himself a water scheme at Achingali in Obowo Local Government Area of the state, which was built by his administration.

It did not give Ohakim joy that the project had been abandoned.

According to the former governor,”you can see that the water scheme has been abandoned and vandalised.”

He further stated:

My administration built this project in almost every nook and cranny of the state. We built 1,930 of the water scheme across the state.

Ohakim added that “the idea of the water project was to make sure there is water in every kitchen in Imo State.”

But he wondered why a water project would be abandoned by Okorocha’s administration but embarked on building”empty halls, substandard roads and people are left without good drinking water.”

Ohakim asked,”who will drive on the roads when they have no water to drink or if they die from diseases gotten from unclean water sources.

“Where are the two generators we provided to pump water ? You can see that cables have been destroyed and vandalised, the whole place over grown with weeds and left to fall apart just because it was Ohakim’s project”

In what looks like an advice to Okorocha, Ohakim said:

Governance is about continuity and essentially for the benefit of the people and not for the ego of one single individual. You cannot keep abandoning or destroying what Ohakim built for the people just because you want to erase Ohakim’s legacies.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Okorocha's convoy was blocked by protesting pensioners early Friday morning at Okigwe Roundabout in agitation over their entitlements...photos below;

CrimeHow Nigerian Fraudsters Cloned American Banks’ Cashier Checks, Pilfer $3million by itsdumebi(op): 3:54am On Jan 06, 2017
American conspirator, Lisa Barwick-Majeski, 56, Sentenced to 12 years in Federal Prison

How Nigerian Conmen supplied fraudulent postal money orders into America
Busted by U.S. Postal Inspection Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s, Homeland Security Investigations, St. Robert, Mo., Police Department

Nigerian criminals operating from hideouts in Africa’s most populous black nation have tremendously brought opprobrium to Nigeria and further shatter the good image Nigerian Government hold tenaciously in the face of the International community by engaging in cloning, creating fake cashier’s checks and money orders which are used to defraud genuine American banks to the tune of $3million in various tranches.

According to the United States Department of Justice, a Springfield born 56years old American woman, Lisa Kaye Barwick-Majeski was lured into becoming their ring leader and recruiter in America. United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Lisa was sentenced in federal court few days ago for leading a Nigerian fraud scheme in which thousands of victims across the country were tricked into cashing up to $3 million in counterfeit money orders and cashier’s checks.

Lisa was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roseann Ketchmark to 12 years in federal prison without parole. The court also ordered Barwick-Majeski to pay $49,131 in restitution to her victims and a money judgment to the government of $1,485,301, representing the proceeds of the conspiracy. Barwick-Majeski was taken into custody immediately at the conclusion of today’s hearing to begin serving her sentence.

On March 10, 2015, Barwick-Majeski pleaded guilty to participating in a conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Barwick-Majeski admitted that she was the primary leader of a conspiracy that involved counterfeit postal money orders, counterfeit bank cashier’s checks and numerous wires to unindicted co-conspirators in the country of Nigeria

Criminal Minds Method of Operation

US Department of Justice detailed these criminal gangs mode of operation: “Barwick-Majeski and her co-conspirators dispatched counterfeit postal money orders and bogus cashier checks to thousands of victims throughout the United States. These false money orders and cashier checks were deposited in victims’ bank accounts after the victims were duped into believing they were paid participants as part of a ‘secret shopper’ exercise designed for them to evaluate Wal-Mart and various money wire outlets. The victims were instructed to keep approximately $200 or more of the less than $2,000 counterfeited postal money order or bogus cashier’s check, and immediately wire the remaining money to Barwick-Majeski and her co-conspirators.

After a few days, the counterfeited money order or bogus cashier’s check would be returned against the victims’ account as not negotiable. The victims would then be obligated to pay their banks or their financial institutions for most of the money they wired to Barwick-Majeski and others. Barwick-Majeski and her co-conspirators shared most of their proceeds with a group of Nigerians that were responsible for supplying Barwick-Majeski with fraudulent postal money orders and cashier’s checks.

PRESS STATEMENT

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a St. Robert, Mo., woman was sentenced in federal court today for leading a Nigerian fraud scheme in which thousands of victims across the country were tricked into cashing up to $3 million in counterfeit money orders and cashier’s checks.

Lisa Kaye Barwick-Majeski, 56, of St. Robert, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roseann Ketchmark to 12 years in federal prison without parole. The court also ordered Barwick-Majeski to pay $49,131 in restitution to her victims and a money judgment to the government of $1,485,301, representing the proceeds of the conspiracy. Barwick-Majeski admitted that she was the primary leader of a conspiracy that involved counterfeit postal money orders, counterfeit bank cashier’s checks and numerous wires to unindicted co-conspirators in the country of Nigeria.

Barwick-Majeski and her co-conspirators dispatched counterfeit postal money orders and bogus cashier checks to thousands of victims throughout the United States. These false money orders and cashier checks were deposited in victims’ bank accounts after the victims were duped into believing they were paid participants as part of a “secret shopper” exercise designed for them to evaluate Wal-Mart and various money wire outlets.

During the course of the investigation, according to court documents, law enforcement officers seized more than $1.7 million worth of counterfeit postal money orders. Some of those counterfeit money orders were taken directly from Barwick-Majeski and some were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection or intercepted en route to Barwick-Majeski.

In addition to the counterfeit postal money orders, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Barwick-Majeski’s residence on Nov. 5, 2013, and seized a parcel that contained 354 counterfeit BMO-Harris Bank cashier’s checks with a total face value of more than $1 million. According to court documents, law enforcement officers also seized $406,800 in counterfeit Mid Missouri Credit Union cashier’s checks during the investigation.

Politics''buhari Is Fighting Corruption With A Clear Strategy'' - Lai Mohammed by itsdumebi(op): 12:15pm On Dec 29, 2016
Minister of Information praises president's 'calculated fight' against corruption

The Federal Government is being guided by a well-articulated strategy in its fight against corruption in the country, contrary to the misconception in certain circles that the government is fighting corruption without a strategy, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday, the Minister said the strategy has proven so effective that it has led to, among others, the recovery of 40 brand new SUVs and other vehicles from one former Permanent Secretary who single-handedly appropriated the vehicles to himself when he left office.

He said the federal government is not just fixated on prosecution alone but is also taking preventive measures to make corruption unattractive.

Alhaji Mohammed listed the strict enforcement of the Treasury Singles Account (TSA), which has largely reduced the diversion of government funds into various secret accounts, and the constant fishing out of ghost workers in the public service, which many states are now adopting, as some of the preventive measures against corruption.

He however said some other measures have been perfected to strengthen the anti-corruption fight, adding that the measures include the establishment of the Presidential Committee on Asset Recovery and the Asset Tracing Committee; the setting up of an Asset Register, and the Whistle Blower Policy.

The Minister also announced the plan by the government - working through the Code of Conduct Bureau - to commence, starting in 2017, a trial run of electronic asset declaration to facilitate compliance and also to search and retrieve data on the assets of public officers.

In addition, he said, the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption is working with relevant MDAs, especially the National Bureau of Statistics, to improve data collection on corruption indicators generally.

''Once perfected, the data will be shared with government periodically, if possible as regularly as government receives data on inflation and unemployment trends, to indicate trends in corruption and influence government measures to correct the situation before it gets out of hand as we have now,'' Alhaji Mohammed said.

Expatiating on the Presidential Committee on Asset Recovery, he said it meets regularly to take reports from key law enforcement agencies on government's anti-corruption effort, share information and intelligence, review the challenges being faced in the anti-corruption efforts generally and give directives on the way forward.

''This same body, on the recommendation of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, has directed a centralized management of recovered looted assets through the Central Asset Management Committee under the leadership of Minister of Finance as legal custodian of government asset.

''This singular move has reduced the opportunity for re-looting of recovered assets that was prevalent under previous regime. By this measure, EFCC, ICPC and all asset recovery law enforcement agencies are mandatorily required to furnish the Minister of Finance with full details of recovered asset whether cash or otherwise,'' the Minister
said, adding that data reconciliation will soon be completed and the information will be made available to the public.

On the Asset Register, he said it has made very difficult the looting of government physical assets, most notably vehicles, by departing political appointees as well as senior and middle level officers.

Alhaji Mohammed said the recently approved Whistle Blower policy is designed to further enhance government's effort to recover looted funds, noting: ''People who give credible and useful information to government that leads to recovery of stolen public assets will be rewarded with between 2.5% - 5% of the recovered fund and government will keep the identity of the whistle blower absolutely confidential.''

He said the government is finalizing the constitution of an Asset Tracing Team to work with internationally reputably bodies to trace and recover public assets in private pockets.

''In this regard, government will also escalate the use of non-conviction-based asset recovery methods to boost revenue and diminish corruption and the perception that crime pays or criminals can keep their loot. The Federal Government is getting Nigerians in diaspora and international civil society organizations involved in the campaign for return of looted assets,'' the Minister added.

PoliticsReps Will Grant Autonomy To Local Governments - Gbajabiamila by itsdumebi(op): 4:49pm On Dec 23, 2016
House of reps leader grants scholarship to 43 constituents

The Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has expressed the readiness of the House of Representatives Special Committee on Constitution Amendment to grant autonomy to Local Governments in Nigeria in the ongoing amendment to the 1999 constitution.

In a statement released by his Media Assistant, Olanrewaju Smart on Friday , Gbajabiamila while responding to questions from representatives of Community Development Associations at an interactive session in his constituency bare his mind on national issues.

" We are working on the autonomy for local government in fact we passed it in the 7th Assembly but President Jonathan did not sign it. We are working on it again and there will be autonomy for local government. I know most of the Governors do not want it, not because they don't like it but truly if we look at true federalism there are only two tiers of government, local government is part of the state government but because it has been abused here in Nigeria that is why everyone seems to be in support of local government autonomy"

Gbajabiamila in his address also sought for the patience of his constituents on the state of the economy.

"Recession is affecting the top to the bottom, this government is doing its best. This recession is actually because Nigeria is no longer making money as it ought to . The oil came down from $100 to about $30 when this Government came in. Imagine you are a farmer and the head of the House with five children and you make 10,000 per month then all of a sudden a natural disaster occurred in your farm and you start making 2,000 Naira monthly. It means your family will have to adjust. Most importantly for us in government to cut excesses."

"Recession do happen in even advance countries, if you go to Venezuela you see people lining up on the streets begging for small bread or rice and Venezuela was once one of the biggest oil producing country in the world. But that does not mean the leader of the country must not take credit or otherwise for whatever is happening to the businesses, economy, and politics but I know we will get out of this(recession) as one country. "

The House Leader after highlighting his achievements in the House of Representatives promised to attract more federal presence to his constituency in 2017 and ensure that solar facilities he installed in the constituency work properly for the good of the constituency.

He also pledged to weigh in on the pending needs of members of his community through an academic scholarship for one student from each of the 43 Community Development Associations in the constituency.

The Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Mr Adebayo Balogun expressed gratitude to the senior lawmaker for his numerous interventions in the constituency while requesting for more assistance in the area of water supply and electricity.

The interactive session also had in attendance the Special Adviser to the Lagos Governor on Central Business District, Agboola Dabiri; Sole Administrators of Surulere LGA and Coker Aguda LCDA, Sherif Balogun and Tope Yusuf respectively; Chairman of All Progressives Congress in Surulere, Shakirudeen Ajao and representatives of 43 Community Development Associations in Surulere 1 federal constituency.

PoliticsBauchi State Set To Pay Outstanding Salaries To Workers by itsdumebi(op): 8:37am On Nov 28, 2016
Bauchi to pay workers owed 2 months salaries

Blames inability to pay on CBN

Bauchi state is set to pay its workers their outstanding salaries, read the press release below;

His Excellency, Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar Esq, Governor of Bauchi State is not unmindful of the promise to upset the outstanding salaries being owed the State and Local Government workers for one and two months respectively by last week. This, unfortunately, did not happen as at date, due, mainly, to unforeseen administrative glitz that delayed the crediting of the State Government by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) of an expected cash inflow. It is however gladdening to observe that the problem is about to be surmounted.

2. Be that as it may, we wish to reaffirm the State Government’s commitment and determination to fulfill this promise and to, accordingly, ask for the usual and continued patience and understanding.

3. You are assured.

The Customs Area Controller in-Charge of the Unit (FOU Zone C), Compt. Mohammed Uba Garka disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the items seized at the premises of both the Imo/Aba Command in Owerri and Benin warehouses of the NCS in Edo State.
He said that 18 suspects who were arrested in connection with the shady deal are now undergoing interrogation for possible prosecution.
Beyond the above statistics, Mohammed said that the seizures represented protection of the nation’s economy and security of the citizenry.
“Let me state clearly that it is simply not enough to inform you about the seizures and its DPV, what is of paramount importance is that we are implementing government’s policies that would boost our economic growth and provide employment”, he stated
According to Mohammed, many of the bags of the seized 50kg foreign rice were cleverly re-bagged and re-labeled by the smugglers to beat security check points on the roads and to give the false semblance of locally produced ones. Just as some items such as body sprays were criminally used to conceal other prohibited items”.
He regretted that accidents had continued to occur on the nation’s highways as a result of the rampant use of second hand tyres being imported by smugglers, stressing that the ban on the importation of furniture and rice was meant to encourage public patronage and consumption of the locally produced ones to further boost the nation’s economy.

“If the rampant incidence of rice importation is allowed to go on, it would definitely discourage local production and consumption with a devastating effect on our economy.”

The Customs boss however made it clear that his men were not out to frustrate individuals who are into genuine business but are only interested to facilitate legitimate trade, stressing that those in illegitimate business have nothing to fear as the Nigeria Customs Service is poised to detect, arrest and prosecute only those who fail to comply with the relevant positions of the law.

He once more appeal to members of the public with useful information about smugglers, their agents and collaborators to make such information available to the Nigeria Customs Service or to other Sister Agencies for necessary action. He added that the 29 seizures made were as a result of official intelligence gathering and information supplied to his men by some patriotic Nigerians.

PoliticsFani-Kayode: ''I Met With Nnamdi Kanu, Made Friends With Boko Haram Prisoners'' by itsdumebi(op): 5:37pm On Nov 16, 2016
Below is what the recently released former aviation minister wrote;

HEAD BLOODIED BUT NOT BOWED AND THE ASCENSION OF PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD J. TRUMP (PART 1)

Permit me to begin this contribution with an apology for my disappearance from the literary and political scene for the last one month but this was due to circumstances beyond my control.

On October 21st, five days after my 56th birthday, I was arrested by the EFCC without an arrest warrant at the premises of the Federal High Court in Lagos where I had been earlier granted bail. Thereafter I was illegally detained by them without any detention order for 21 days.

Kindly note that this was after I had been detained by them for a gruelling 67 days 6 months ago (from 9th of May till July 15th), brought before the Federal High Court in Lagos, arraigned on spurios and politically-motivated charges and locked up in Ikoyi prison for a number of days whilst I attempted to perfect my court bail.

After perfecting bail, on 21st October I was re-arrested and the whole nightmare began again: only this time it was far more insidious and worse.

Throughout the time of the second detention I was kept in a dingy underground cell at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja where I met a number of other high profile opposition figures like Senator Bala Mohammed, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, the former Minister of State for Defence and Mr. Reuben Abati, the former spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan.

During the course of my 21 day incarceration my abductors did not ask me any questions or say one word to me other than to formally serve me with a new set of fresh criminal charges the morning after I got there which I simply signed for.

After that I heard nothing from them and I was told nothing though I had daily visits to the medical clinic at the EFCC due to my deteriorating health.

Three weeks later, on November 10th, I was brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja and arraigned on yet another set of spurrious, baseless and politically-motivated charges.

These ones were even more ridiculous and far-fetched than the first set in Lagos. I was falsely accused of receiving 26 million naira cash from the former National Security Advisor, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, for media work for the Jonathan administration in 2014.

Thankfully I was granted bail by the court and I was detained at Kuje prison for a further 4 days whilst I attempted to perfect my bail.

At Kuje I was kept in the terrorist wing of the prison which was built by the British government specifically for Boko Haram convicts and suspects.

There were 47 of them in the facility and I was with them throughout. These were tough, disciplined, hardened, surprisingly well-educated and intimidating men.

The single cells and the entire terrorist section of the prison was pervaded by an eerie silence throughout the night and low tone whispers throughout the day. The only thing that broke the monotony of silence was the regular and constant call to Muslim prayers and the loud and regular cries of "Allahu Akbar".

This was a frightful place and those that were locked up there were very dangerous and frightful people yet thankfully the Lord went ahead of me.

The single cells, though small, were clean, self-contained, well-ventilated, dry and very neat. The inmates were surprisingly very kind and friendly towards me and turned out to be my best friends and bodyguards whenever I toured th other parts of the prison.

I was very impressed with them and when I heard their stories and what some of them had been subjected to by the security forces and the state tears came to my eyes.

Most of those men were not Boko Haram killers but had been falsely accused, tortured and just dumped into prison and I felt nothing but pain and sorrow when I heard their stories.

When I went to visit the great and brilliant freedom fighter, Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of IPOB and easily the most courageous, powerful and credible Igbo leader in Nigeria today in his cell we had a very instructive and long discussion.

I had never met Nnamdi before and I was amazed at his depth of knowledge, his immense courage and his deep convictions.

There is no doubt in my mind that that man is going places and in him the Igbo have an Ojukwu and a Nnamdi Azikiwe all rolled into one. He is destined for greatness.

My Boko Haram friends accompanied me to that meeting, drew a ten man security cordon around me when we entered the general population of the prison and waited outside as Nnamdi and I spoke for almost three hours.

They even accompanied me to Church on sunday and waited outside until we finished.

Given what I have written about Boko Haram in the past and given my total aversion to any form of violence, terrorism and radical Islam, this was a classic case of God granting me favour before my enemies.

Everyone dreaded them in that prison but I am proud to say that they were my friends and I will never forget their courage, kindness and fellowship for the rest of my life.

The enemy had placed me in the lions den but the lions and their prey became the best of friends. Not only were my Boko Haram section mates very good to me but so were the other inmates in the general prison population.

Not only that, the head of the prison DCP Akilu Abdullah, his Chief warden and his entire staff and team of prison wardens were firm, courteous and professional not just to me but to all the other inmates.

This was the doing of the Lord and it was marvellous in my sight. Throughout my travails I have never questioned God and I have been inspired and comforted by His word which says that in all things we must give thanks to Him.

I am innocent of all the charges and allegations and as I have said elsewhere the whole thing is an attempt by the Federal Government and an increasingly desperate EFCC that is obsessed with my name and putting me away to discredit, break and silence me.

Yet in all this I am not moved and neither can I ever be broken or silenced because, like the biblical Job, "I know that my Redeemer liveth".

Like Shakespeare's Macbeth, "my head is bloodied but not bowed" and "I shall fight until the flesh is hacked from my bones".

And as that fight and struggle unfolds and unwinds I take solace in the powerful and beautiful words of the Victorian poet William Ernest Henley in my favourite poem titled 'Invictus' which was written in 1875. He wrote,

"Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul".

Like Nelson Mandela did at Robben Island prison every day for 26 years, I recited that poem three times a day on each and every day of my total of 90 days detention this year. And if I am arrested and detained again by the EFCC or any of President Buhari's other numerous security or intelligence agencies I will continue to recite it. I have no fear of what men or satan can do to me and I trust and have faith in the God that I serve.

Having explained my absence for the few weeks with this appetiser permit me get to the meat of it and now serve the main dish of this contribution.
