I am sure some ppl would not examine the message and reason but would just dismiss it out of hatred and total ignorance. |
A timely and welcomed development; it is also about time that the National Assembly considers revisiting the social media Bill in order to checkmate all the current hate speeches and deliberate misinformation that is currently heating up the polity and further dividing Nigerians. |
Jochabed:No such chance especially as the major parties (APC & PDP) have already zoned the presidency to north; therefore who from the north can actually defeat him should he decide to seek re-election; moreover time has already ran out for any new party or coalition such as the one being proposed by OBJ to effectively mount a serious challenge - I predict more sad times for those who hate Buhari because he is likely to continue as president for the next 6 yrs. |
I see so many emotionally charged statements based on sheer hatred for one side without balanced reasoning where many respondents presuppose that the killings are only by one side - even in light of emerging evidence of also killings of the herdsmen by local communities including state government militias. I therefore urge the FG not to be distracted by the obvious politicisation of the problem but to remain resolute and focused in thoroughly investing the root cause of the crisis and making sure that all the perpetrators are exposed and brought to book. |
Francis5:Yes we like to remain that way - at least we have not advanced into the moral depravity of becoming baby factory producers and powder developers, trafficking in human beings and hard drugs respectively. |
abuomaIV:I doubt if any from your lineage came close to affording a house like that 62yrs ago in 1956. |
abumeinben:The joke is on you for failing to comprehend a simple and straight forward rebuttal of a big fat lie by one of your ilk - who apparently likes to propagate misinformation against the president. FYI, there is a daylight of a difference between an honorary degree and a substantive one earned by sitting and passing a formal exam - than the type issued to PEJ; while the same comparison cannot be made for the life patron-ship awarded to GEJ by Myetti Allah - who wholeheartedly embraced him as one of their own for being the only president to have come to their aid. |
CampuChan:Wrong, its a lie! In fact, GEJ is their official life Patron (they even issued him with a certificate to prove it) after he approved N100B to restore their traditional cattle routes that had been encroached by farmers, during his tenure in office - now that you know, pls tell others who may be ignorant about this fact so that they wouldn't be spreading this negative propaganda against the president. https://naijagists.com/president-jonathan-made-patron-leader-of-fulani-herdsmen-cattle-rearers-photos/

The media will continue to remain silent on such attacks but will go to all extremes in sensationalising Fulani reprisals to earlier attacks on them; while jingoistic politicians will continue to make capital out of it in order to score cheap political points as regional/ethnic local champions so as to bring down the Buhari govt - even if it means causing more disunity and hatred among Nigerians. |
Bad news for Nigerian consumers who would eventually foot the bill as Multichoice would doubt pass this cost to them. |
Bagehot:I will not indulge you in an endless circle of suppositions and emotionally laced arguments that are obviously driven by deep seated hatred for a particular tribe, ppl and religion; without any consideration for objectivity but to score cheap politically motivated points. However, I would like you to counter the following facts - if you can. 1) There are two sides to every story. 2) The side of the Fulani herdsmen is not being adequately covered by the media, who often prefer to concentrate on the victims of alleged Fulani attacks but hardly ever investigating further as to the root cause of such attacks and whether even if they can be attributed to the Fulani as claimed. 3) Nigerian media is almost entirely owned and controlled by the Christian South and PDP members - it is therefore quite easy to see why the media is skewed towards selective journalism and lending itself as a willing tool and platform for political jobbers and enemies of state to advance their divisive propaganda via exploitation of existing fault lines of ethnicity, regions and religion as it applies to this crisis and beyond; ultimately their aim is at whipping up sentiments and emotions in order to discredit this government, the president and all he stands for or represent; at the expense of national unity. 4) At the crux of the problem is the failure of both warring parties to obtain justice and redress whenever their rights are violated and as a consequence resulting in taking the law into their hands - the present uproar is because the Fulani had been more successful/deadly at extracting revenge for themselves. I put it to you that had it been the other way round and the were the ones on the receiving end, no one including the media would batter and eyelid let alone make the headlines. No I do not see any arrogance in Miyetti Allah; their statements have been responsible and enlightening, giving a rare glimpse of the other side of the conflict; unlike other socio-political groups such as Ohaneze and Afeneifere, OPC, CAN, etc. who often heat up the polity with inflammatory divisive - bordering on incitement. Yes, governor Ortom's sponsored illegal militia are armed and have been caught with AK47 as confirmed severally by the police. Olu Falae's abductors and attackers have long been arrested, identified and convicted; in fact nobody is denying that Fulani are not involved in killings but the fact is that they are not involved in all the killings attributed to them - note even as we speak now, Gana and his gang known for killing his own ppl are still wanted and at large in Benue State. Simply because your mind cannot comprehend the magnitude of 1000 cattle being rustle doesn't make it impossible and a lie; in fact I can recall when rustling of 2000 herds of cattle from the former vice President's (Namadi Sambo) ranched farm made headline news during Jonathan's time. You spoke of silly posts by cretins yet you came up with something as ridiculously stupid as northern imperialist agenda - as if Benue itself is not part of the north. BTW, being well educated doesn't necessarily equate to being intelligent - our last president was supposedly a Phd holder but evidently very stupid; not to mention his equally less intelligent graduate wife. |
angels09:Are you unaware of a 700 strong militia armed in Benue on N15000 monthly Salary sponsored by the state government and similarly of Fayose's armed local hunter militia? Pls stop being naive. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/tension-as-armed-militia-captured-in-benue.html |
Olalekanbanky1:He and other governors like Ortom raise secret militias and point fingers elsewhere when their plans backfire. |
He must be a Fulani herdsman. |
Bagehot:You and ilk continue to reason with emotions and not your head; you are deliberately espousing ignorance and bigotry on the matter because it serves your innate nature to hate on these ppl and what they represent. I could equally do the same and cite several under - reported atrocities committed against the Fulani or northerners and ask you what did they do to deserve their treatment. What did these Fulani and their cattle did to be killed in Mambilla? https://www.nairaland.com/3914936/horrible-pixs-beast-mambilla#58349967 https://www.nairaland.com/3922769/mambilla-militia-attack-cattle-owned And these 11 herdsmen killed in Oyo https://www.nairaland.com/1413641/11-herdsmen-killed-oyo Beheading of a Herdsman in Ekiti https://www.nairaland.com/3622690/tension-ekiti-community-herdsman-beheaded Two more herdsmen killed in Delta State https://www.nairaland.com/3600453/2-missing-herdsmen-found-dead Killing of 20 herdsmen and their 83 cows in Nassarawa State by AGATU youths who cross over from BENUE STATE in a failed attempt to rustle their cattle. https://www.nairaland.com/3082287/83-cows-20-fulanis-killed Killing of 16 herdsmen in Plateau State by southern Kaduna gunmen https://www.nairaland.com/3587682/gunmen-crossed-kaduna-kill-member As for media bias, well this a worldwide known fact; studies show even the American press give a 449% increase in coverage to attacks linked to Muslims; the same cannot be any different with the Nigerian media (dominated by southern Christians) who give more emphasis on alleged Fulani attacks and almost zero percent on attacks or crimes against them; note how they even went as far as identifying the victims of the recent Benue attacks, interviewing local indigenes for their views, inviting so called experts (from one side with their premeditated political agenda) for comments along with being guided by pre-loaded biased questions that leads the interviewee to a desired pre-determined response (if in doubt, critically watch channels, AIT, Silverbird etc with an analytical mind) - while the Fulani side of the conflict is almost totally ignored. You are entitled to your views on Buhari and continue to make negative comparison between him and Jonathan - obviously without looking into the facts on the ground. FYI, did you know that Jonathan is the life patron of the Fulani cattle breeders association? Did you know that Jonathan ordered the restoration of all the overtaken grazing routes and reserves of the Fulani - hence reason they made him a life patron - based on the recommendations of a task force technical committee, headed by Gabriel Suswan the then governor of Benue State (because his state was often the hot spot of such crisis) Did you know that to this end Jonathan further released to sum of 100 Billion Naira as recommended by the committee to the 36 state governors who each in turn diverted the money and didn't use it for the purpose it was earmarked for? Did you know that as we speak now that the Benue State governor has over 700 armed militia who he hired on N15,000 monthly salary, who unfortunately are now being owed over 5 months? Do you know the potential security risk of having such high number of youths armed with AK45 and without money? https://www.nairaland.com/4279850/shocking-military-nabs-armed-gang Do you know that these militia have been harassing and exploiting the Fulani under the guise of the Benue anti grazing law and in consequence have been partly responsible for the current reprisals? Do you know that other armed gangs armed and sponsored by local politicians have long been killing and exploiting their own ppl as well as stealing cattle disguised as Fulani men? Do you know that among such criminals is the notorious gang led by one named Ghana who still wanted by the state govt and responsible for the Zaki Biam killings? https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/wanted-mastermind-zaki-biam-massacre-sponsored-ortom/ https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/zaki-biam-taskforce-recovers-weapons-from-notorious-suspect-s-stronghold/192207.html |
viceddy95:If you can't handle the truth then try the nearest lagoon to drown your sorrows. |
What a hypocrite; we still haven't forgotten your sermon calling on your followers and saying, "if you see any Fulani man around here, kill him, kill him, I say cut off his head and nothing will happen". |
Thank God it didn't happen in the north otherwise they'd be abusing us by now. |
I remember delusional IPOB youths foolishly risking and sacrificing their lives to celebrate this man's election victory - as their saviour. |
highrise07:Nope, GEJ is their Grand Patron for life; in fact they even issued him with a certificate to prove it - shocking isn't it?.
|
Retardeen, PhD without intelligence; never again.
|
Bagehot:You should try and dig into the root cause of the attacks, the Fulanis don't just wake up and decide to kill for no reason at all, what you see are often reprisals after they must have been attacked/robbed or unduly taken advantage of (an aspect deliberately being ignored by a southern Christian owned and dominated biased media) - try and long beyond sentiments; note that this problem is not confined only to the south, it happens also in the core north; the difference is that we do not politicise it like southerners. |
BetaThings:No one has a right to kill (except in self defence) however, whenever the system of justice fails, there is a natural tendency for victims or their relatives to lose faith and therefore take the laws into their hands. The problem with the Fulani is that they have become too successful at taking the law into their hands, after they must have been harassed/violated or exploited by local communities (a fact that is often ignored and unreported by our biased media). Had the Fulanis been the ones at the receiving end, I can assure you that nobody would care let alone raise the matter to our national conscience - as we presently have in the case of the Benue ppl etc. Yes the root cause of the problem is about respect for property, in this case, land for grazing vs land for farming; however, what is not apparent to most of you is the fact that most of the officially recognised grazing routes of the Fulanis, predating colonial times, have been gradually taken over by farmlands. The proposed grazing bill, which majority in south are against (based purely on sentiments) is primarily aimed at redressing this encroachment into established traditional Fulani grazing grounds and therefore reduce the potential for conflict between farmers and herdsmen in order for peace to reign once again. Unfortunately, due to one-sided media reporting and politicisation of the conflict, many ppl seem to want to bring to an end the Fulani nomadic way of life by imposition of laws that ban open grazing as well as to block the proposed grazing bill - in the false belief that these measures would solve the problem, without looking beyond their prejudices (tribal, religious and political) and instead at the implication of stranding thousands of Fulani cattle and their armed young men with nowhere to go. Even as we speak now there is a dangerous unfolding consequence of edging the Fulani out of the way of life, as many of their youths have turned to armed robbery and kidnapping of a deadly kind - the Kaduna/Abuja Rd. and Kaduna/Birnin Gwari route to Lagos are now very dangerous highways to travel on. |
When they massacred Fulani women and children and similarly killed and maimed thousands of their cattle in Taraba, how many condemned or gave them a second thought, how much press coverage did they got - in fact some were even cheering at their plight; but now that the Fulani are apparently retaliating, suddenly everybody is up in arms condemning and politicising the whole matter from a tribal and religious perspective - without looking at the root cause of the problem. SMH at the bigotry in play. |
fabre4:Where did I suggest them in every state? They have a right like any Nigerian to live according to their way of life; central to the ongoing problem is the fact that their traditional grazing grounds are being taken over by expanding farmlands - whether we like it or not; until their grazing needs are also accommodated there will continue to be these clashes. |
fabre4:The grazing bill is in fact the right way to go but unfortunately many of you are far too blinded by hatred to see the wisdom in it. |
LOL at the short memories of those those politicising this problem especially the one sided reporting media houses, who have been openly pro - PDP and anti Buhari. This matter will not go away unless Nigerians are being correctly educated about the crisis in order to appreciate its various layers of ramification and justice being simultaneously meted out to all culprits on both sides. Fulanis cannot just wake up and start killing for no reason at all and/or without provocation; the root cause of the problem (land for grazing vs land for farming) is being completely ignored while the symptoms i.e. the killings and it-s aftermath are being mischievously sensationalised on the pages of newspapers from a one sided perspective. |
tinkinjow:I wouldn't expect a convoluted twisted mindset of a bigot like yours to understand, let lone appreciate the finer points of my short and straightforward message. It would therefore be pointless and a waste of my time to further engage and subsequently encourage you in such idiotic rants - kindly grow up and get some sense. |
LOL, over 700 strong Fulani herdsmen sponsored by Buhari on monthly salary of 15K - breeze done fowl nyash, no wonder the governor came out to advise against politicising the ongoing Benue crisis (knowingly that he is also part of the problem). Waiting to see what coloration our one sided-biased media would give to this expose' - let them explain why the Fulani are always the ones senselessly killing without any reason. |
If this had happened in the north, the usual brigade of hateful miscreants would have reason to insult the region, its ppl and its prominent religion. |
gmaribel:Before you criticise, you should perhaps take a look at how GEJ handled such herdsmen clashes (particularly the Jos crisis) while also diverting billions meant to fight Boko Haram (who he famously called his siblings) leading to the unnecessary deaths of thousands including his own soldiers - sentiments aside; compared to GEJ this administration is doing far much better on issues of security. |
osemoses1234:Yes, we take our religion very seriously as we continue to remain steadfast and faithful to all our religious beliefs and values; unlike those who like to reinvent their values e.g. believing in fake images and fake birthday of their so called god Jesus - we all know that Jesus wasn't a white man nor was he born on Christmas day i.e. 25th December. |

Asides from Olu Falae's case (cos he was SSG), where else have these people been made to face justice
