He's getting too annoying at this point in time. Imagine him saying terrorists don't have financiers, so they just found guns ammunitions on the road abi? They didn't buy them? Nobody gave them money to buy them?

Most of his arguments don't even make any sense. He wants federal government to negotiate with the kidnappers and bandits because he feels they embraced crime out of necessity. So federal government must strike a deal with them. smh

Maybe all of us too should embrace crime because country is hard and then force FG to come and negotiate with us.

One thing I noticed is that the man somehow believes the whatever deal was struck with Niger Deltan militants, same thing must be struck with his brothers in Sambisa and other forests in the north. He obviously thinks the Niger Delta situation (where oil exploration has left so many communities degraded environmentally ) is the same with the situation in the north.
You don talk am finish. He always references the Niger Delta situation but they are not exactly the same.

Not forgetting that a lot of people in government were also against paying amnesty to militants.

If they want it at 900, it'll get there.
They control the narrative now.

All the CBN has to do is sell $1m to someone at 850.
And the rate will fall the next day.

But they'll have to continue selling at 850 to keep it that low or it'll snap back to 1600.
I don't think you can even call it a free or managed float.
This is plain rate pegging.

And when it fails, and rates start increasing by 100-150 per day to 2000; the uninformed will say saboteurs are back to artificially devaluing the naira.
You cannot artificially increase the naira's value and expect the subsequent fall to be natural.
For their sake, I hope they have dollars somewhere they'll use to defend their peg.
Nigerians use cheap dollars for one thing only. IMPORTATION.

-Lord
Now you see the point I was making the other time. They are very happy to keep the exchange rate as it is now. Any attempt to force it down, they have to continue forcing it. This will put pressure on the reserves in no time.

No, it means calls for his sack are more emotional than rational.

Consensus ko, census ni.

Even Pochettino’s PA on your thread (Popi) has offered to send assassins after Poch if he is not sacked at the end of this season.

The consensus on your thread is that Poch has to go. The debate on that has ended long time ago.
That is why you guys need a good coach (in your opinion) like Southgate to steady the ship.

The defence vs attack issue is still being debated, that is why it is not a consensus. You know consensus means agreement , right? 😄
Apart from ocassional emotional outbursts when we lose, no one on our thread is saying Poch has to go.

And let me rephrase. Depending on what side of the divide you are, there's an agreement that we either need to improve the attack, defence or both.

Go to your thread, win, lose, draw, ETH must go. cheesy

If you'll be covering several kilometers a day in slow moving traffic, avoid it.

I hear they are buying 1455 today. I'm sure there will be no shortage of mugus who will sell to them.

LordAdam16:
It's not necessarily sensationalist.

Since the demise of Binance P2P/NGN Spot, the parallel market rates (both P2P and Aboki rates) now track the CBN rate.
https://www.cbn.gov.ng/rates/ExchRateByCurrency.asp
Thus, the CBN can now manipulate both the NAFEM and Black Market rates.
All it has to do is sell a tiny amount in NAFEM at a super low rate, and it'll drag down its rate as well as the NAFEM and Black Market rates.
In fact, yesterday it sold at 1350 and that's what dragged the NAFEM rate to 1492.
Today's CBN rate would be less than 1450 and P2P/Aboki will buy at less than 1400.
-Lord
I don't think yesterday has anything to do with CBN. The slide started in the early hours of the day before NAFEM even opened. Check P2P buy rate today, it's almost at 1500.

The impression I'm getting from the CBN is that they are happy to keep the rate around 1500 seeing how easy it is for them to defend.

Btw, what happens after one year when the OMO and tbills they sold mature and investors start moving their money? They will roll out high interest rates to keep them?

Or they are hoping crude oil production will go up over the next one year and they won't need as much inflow from FPIs to defend the currency.

Sometimes I wish I can have a peep into the future. cheesy

There was even no time dollar fell to 1400 yesterday. Just ignore the sensational headlines.

What happened was that Abokis were syphoning dollar from mugus at 1400 and selling it at 1500.

Banks were still doing 1500 yesterday if you sell to them and some foolish people were selling to Abokis at a 100 naira discount. Even the official rate on NAFEM closed at 1492.

That's not it; it's the years of communal clashes & civil unrests that has degenerated over time as well as the militancy issues of yester years that's responsible for that .

Immediately after the ENDARS violence that saw private business centers and government institutions burnt ; soldiers flooded marina on Lagos Island for weeks to restore normalcy
Yes, possibly. That was what turned the city to a grave yard. I heard economic activities really boomed in the early 90s.

Can a community just go to a Division and invite the NA to come and settle dispute?

I am not talking about checkpoints. Military checkpoints are usually formed under a particular operation, of which it will be ended once the operation is closed.

So which one did they stary for Okuama that 16 soldiers will be there? A Community, not even a town.

And a Major dey there?

Omoh, there's more to the whole thing. Sadly, the community lost their voice to cry the moment they killed the soldiers
Not in Warri. I lived there for about 8 months in 2015. There was not a single issue at the time. Maybe someone living there can confirm if the checkpoints are still there.

You may be right that there's more to it but based on the unusual presence of military men when I lived there, I won't be surprised if they are invited to settle disputes.

And those communities are not just any community. They are oil rich communities.

Because, I cannot understand how soldiers were deployed to install peace between two communities

No Police man, even though the closest call to security is the Police station.

Na soldiers wey fit travel 100km from Barracks go do peace talks?

And what the flying fck is 4 Senior officers doing there? The NA will deploy a Major to go and settle dispute in a community? Are you kidneying me?

The truth remains hidden.
I don't find it strange actually. I remember the first time I went to Warri, I was seeing army check points within the town. Never seen anything like that before. Imagine going to Iyana Oworo from Oshodi and there's an army check point in Gbagada.

It does seem to me like people there have no regard whatsoever for police officers so their leaders tend to invite military officers when issues come up.
