sukkot:
those maps are drawn up by europeans and they are impartial. they send their agents to these villages and ask for the names of the people and they put it on the map. the map areas are not determined by the indigenous people, its europeans who drew up the map. so the fact that igbo was not included in that map at that time tells me they never existed as of that time. i believe that map is 400 or so years old. and yes as you said, most nigerian tribes were not included but these are small tribes. the igbo is the 3rd largest tribe for chrissakes. how do you leave out the 3rd biggest tribe when hausa and yoruba is on the map ? its impossible. only reason is they are recent migrants in the last 400 years. am telling you bro. reason the matter. the 3rd largest tribe not on the map ?
Sorry to burst your bubble, it is in the interest of europeans to be partial in colonial times.
They were not in Africa for altruistic purpose, they were here for business.

Anyway, there are solid reference of Igbos in pre-1800s Nigeria.
As you know the only way to prove a theory is to gather evidence,
just one map will not do.

A quick study of Nigeria's Atlantic slave trade will clear your doubt.

Arresting Nnamdi KANU will not solve the boiling issues in the east, infact it will worsen the present situation, neither will hate speeches nor name calling deter the eastern Igbo's from demanding their rights.
this statement coming from the old man is not surprising as he met with the coordinator of govt recently, the Nigerian govt is in dire need of solving the issues of Biafra agitations and they will go any length to achieve it.pa Clark is only trying to deceive the foolish govt, to prove that he is not in support .
he has advised them to arrest him, what are they waiting for?
Arrest Nnamdi KANU and you will see Biafra in your face.
You are right, Ipob members are ready to boil the east.

i dont think requirements to be on a map is development though. a map is about geographical areas and the people in it irrespective of how developed they appear to be or not. thats all am saying bro
Geographical map areas are determined by people
and their economic and social importance to the map creators not land.

Most Nigerian minority tribes were not featured on that map.

Even if you pick up google map today, there are areas that are co-opted
into larger sections. It doesn't mean people don't exist on such lands,
just that they insignificant, population or economic wise.

so am looking at this map of nigeria in the 1800s and it shows yoruba and hausa and nupe territories and there is no mention of igbo. the igbo territories belonged to Niger protectorate and coast. my question is are igbos really from nigeria ? I am starting to think they migrated from cameroon to that region in the late 1800s. so the question is if they are Cameroonians why do they want to form biafra in nigeria ? look at this map and tell me i am wrong

They are indigenous to Nigeria, the reason they were not shown on that map is because
they have not developed past the village clan level and had no significant civilization, a
requirement for being noticed in the 17th century.

Kanu and his protesters are jobless and most are ill-educated, that is the fact.

The french revolution was powered by farmers, same with bolshevik
revolution.

If they had something going for them, they won't be constituting nuisance everywhere
they go following the rambling of an hate-filled man.

There is a clear difference between been poor and jobless(a personal failure).
No sane country in the world, will a man with no personal achievement be
in charge of a cause riding on the back of street urchins and jobless illiterates.

Kanu only created an opportunity for himself because he was a nobody and he had
nothing before he started his ramblings.

I don't know about you, I will never be a supporter for an hate-filled demagogue.

What will you rather the idle poor man be doing? It's the failure of Government in engaging him that gives him the time and space to keep reproducing.
Look and countries like Japan and a few others where their citizens are so busy the government has to grant them incentives to get married.
The point still remains Nigeria's problems are not large population induced, they are borne out of leadership failure.
Talk is cheap.

If you become Nigeria's leader today,
what would you do to solve the leadership problem ?

They bribe Igbo in Lagos to call Igbo in the east jobless in order to divide Igbos over Biafra, the way they divide non Igbos in the SS from Igbo, all to allow the political status quo in Nigeria continue.

Which Igboman shall stay in Lagos and call fellow Igbos in the east jobless? Only a compromised - bribed - Igboman.
They don't need to bribe anybody, all Ipob members were jobless, kanu included,
until they became professional protesters.

Igbos in the east who have something doing are not subservient to the hate monger.

As for the traders..... You are protecting your business we know, but don't call kanus followers in the East jobless. They have their own jobs. Are all igbos in Lagos gainfully employed? Why not refuse kanu's coming without castigating their fellow Igbos in the east?

I know the crop of igbos uttering this shameless jests. They think they are the only ones who can lead ndigbo. Such delusion.

He should keep his Biafra in the East where our unemployed youths are following him all over the place, not knowing what they are dabbling into. Most of these youth do not understand what Biafra is about and what it has cost Igbo people.

He is imposing- "we must... "
If only our visionless leaders like Mr. Bruce knew the positive use our large population could be put to. We are not the largest population on land. There are several larger populations doing very well.
I still maintain creating jobs and producing babies are separate entities.
If I say we must stop dumping refuse on waterways.
Does it mean I am forcing you to abide by my statement ?

No where in the world is a large population an advantage,
it is either being actively discouraged or their is a campaign
to reduce it.

The world's resources is finite, while baby making is not,
it is only rational to reduce birth rates.

It is no accident that high fertility rate is highly correlated with extreme
poverty.

A poor man gives birth to 9 children he can't cater for, he send the
kids to the streets for survival, then turn around to blame government,
I will say, that is a self-imposed suffering.

Honestly, this is a feeble attempt at common sense.
Producing babies and creating jobs are separate entities. The last I checked, people are at liberty to live their lives as they deem fit, as long as it constitutes no harm to others.

Why impose a lifestyle pattern on them?
He is not imposing, but advising.
On the long run making plenty babies constitute security threats
against the nations peace.

There are thousands of homeless and abandoned kids on lagos street whose
job is pickpocketing and cultism and will likely venture into serious crimes when
older.
There are millions of Almajiri kids with no future prospects.
