donroxy: Winding down of ACN: Tinubu, others have committed political suicide - Presidency

Written by Lanre Adewole and Modinat Adenekan - Lagos Wednesday, 24 April 2013 00:00

FOR officially winding down the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the presidency, on Tuesday, called the act a political suicide on the part of the leaders and chieftains of the defunct party.
It said the Yoruba of the South West would not identify with the All Progressives Congress (APC), which the ACN dissolved into, because the only attachment with the party by the people of the region was its identity as a regional party.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, told the Nigerian Tribune that it was certain the Yoruba would not vote a platform with General Muhammadu Buhari as presidential standard-bearer.

According to him, “let me tell you something. ACN has died, that is by their convention and that is a political suicide for the ACN. You know ACN had no national relevance whatsoever. The only relevance they had is as a Yoruba party and they have now abandoned that and in speaking factually, they have just gone into abyss.

“So, for those who had regarded the ACN as their political outfit, what do they have to benefit from the alliance. What does an average Yoruba man have to benefit from APC or from a Buhari presidency.

“If Baba Adesanya was alive, would he canvass for Yoruba to vote for Buhari. So the ACN has just committed political suicide. I am not talking about personalities leading the party, I am talking about the party itself.

“The party’s only relevance in the Nigerian politics is that it is the outfit with which the Yoruba politics stands out. So when they have lose that garb, they are gone.”

Na so dem start that nonsense rumor about killer number.

Let us all embrace science and forget all this fairy tale by OP.

Our forefathers committed many atrocities (killing of twins and the likes)in the name of traditional beliefs including juju. Sadly such barbaric acts are still going on till this day.

Bribery illegally wins contracts in Naija not the so called juju.

Fellow Nigerians will not stop amusing me concerning this juju matter especially blood money. Nollywood no dey help matta sef. Money appearing from thin air!!

Nigeria may be a developing nation in terms of infrastructure. But in terms of scientific and logical reasoning, Nigerians are so backwards!

DOES THIS HAPPEN ALL AROUND THE WORLD? = NO.

WHY?= Becuase it is a feudal ideology with no substance or proof?

WHY THEN DO NIGERIANS BELIEVE IN IT? = Nigeria is a constipated vaccum that is caught between feudalism and mordernism. Ignorance reigns supreme because of decades of bad governance and a poor educational infastructure. Its quite simple, if ritual money is not an international phenomenom, then its basically the social construct of the indegenous nation.

Examples of social constructs. Hitler's Gemany was of the idea that the aryan race had superiority over all other races and were capable of taking over the established order. (We all know how that ended)

Main Point; If you are surrounded with a particular belief and everyone around you ie family and friends including the external community hold a similar belief, then the chances of you opening up your mind to the wider horizon of life becomes difficult. However, once you grasp that concept that there is more to life than your immediate surround or belief, you are regarded as a rebel or renegade by the ignorant minds that surrounds you.

Question everything.

tomakint:
Just to settle your confusion that was the man that launched the 'First failed Bank Tribunal' in the history of this country, go figure how much that singular exercise saved into the coffers of this country! He was the same man that fought the Hausa-Fulani Hegemony to a standstill by banishing the then megalomaniac Sultan of Sokoto, Dasuki into house arrest in Taraba and giving the exalted caliphate position to the rightful person Alhaji Maccido! He signed the current GSM licence we now enjoy way back late 1997! He made the super rich and the extremely corrupt personalities to quake in their boots because of their shady deals! This was the same man that never courted the 'relationship of the Western nations' as a result of the sanctions meted out to Nigeria by the International community and yet still managed the economy well by not borrowing! He was however not a perfect man, he had his own personal demons, but hate him or love him, He did his very best unlike the 'wicked ones' we try to deified now when in actual facts, they are 100 times more corrupt and diabolic than the man, ABACHA! Good job Iyaniwura, I love your efforts! wink

IBB was isolated and rendered impotent by Abacha and there were reports that Abacha was already making the final moves to cage IBB (you know what that means) who was already restless, and yes, paranoid about Abacha's rule (Abacha died before he could rein in the Minna general). After Abacha became head of state, their relationship broke down. Considering the circumstances, IBB would not have been surprised at Abacha's palace coup. Also, there are many conspiracies theories about his demise and those who orchestrated it but your question has been answered, I guess.
lagcity: I would like to know what IBB thought of Abacha's leadership. Was IBB in support of it or was he paranoid and sleepless in his Minna mansion after OBJ and Yaradua were arrested? I would like to know more about the relationship between these two guys. I heard IBB was pissed that Abacha overthrew the Transitional Govt. of Shonekan. Is this true?

-INTRODUCTION

What if I tell you that General SANINEGERIA MOHAMMED ABACHA, the most popular Kanuri person in the world was regarded as the most patient man on earth? My Mum, the Ogidi herself never forgets her airport encounter with him, she was thoroughly stupefied at his height. It was fifteen years ago. A man of diminutive stature (5ft, 6inches). A man of fire, iron and steel, the General lorded absolute power and unbridled authority over 120 million souls.

Get the full gist here: http://.com/sani-abacha-nigerias-most-enigmatic-ruler/

Not even Generals dare cross his path. Those who did, knelt and wept before him while he offered them tissue paper to wipe their salty tears. Not even a plea from the Pope could melt his heart. Mandela begged him to no avail. No one messed with Abacha. He was gentle. Listening. Cunning. Daring. Attentive. Dangerous. Brave. Brutal. When an American ambassador was irritating the late maximum tyrant, he almost paid with his life. But who was SANI ABACHA, Nigeria's most enigmatic ruler, and the first head of state to die in office without violence (a man of many firsts as you will soon see)? Why and how he almost blew General Diya out of existence? Why his last son was shot in 2011? His links with America's most secretive Christian group, Boko Haram and Imam Abubakar Shekau, its leader and Nigeria's most wanted man? And many more...

Known to many as an incorrigible kleptomaniac who will stop at nothing to succeed himself in power, invites you on a spellbinding journey into the rise, rise and fall of the dictator and lawn tennis lover whom IBB called the Khalifa. When IBB was leaving the 'throne', he retired all the service chiefs with the exception of this man: Sani Abacha. Adjust your chair, stretch your legs and let's learn more about the gripping story of a soldier of audacious strategies who proudly bore his Kanuri tribal marks beneath the darkest of goggles.

_______________________________________________________

-EARLY DAYS & SCHOOLING
Unlike other leaders who had 'humble' backgrounds, Abacha was not born into squalid poverty. As a matter of fact, his was a prosperous family with his father owning a successful trucking business in Kano State. The family which migrated to Kano in search of greener pastures, also had a bakery they named 'Canteen Abacha'.

-A Kanuri man (Abacha is NOT Hausa or Fulani, that is quite important as some people tend to lump the entire north together as 'Hausa-Fulani' bloc, Hausa is not Fulani and vice versa), he was born in Borno State on a Monday, the 20th September, 1943, grew up in Kano and blended so well that he lies in the soil of the ancient city after he gave up the ghost on another Monday half a century later. His father was positioning him to take over the family's bread baking business and he ensured he got a good education so as to stem the tide of illiteracy in the family although young Sani would be notorious for his truancy rather than astronomical academic wizardry. At about the same time, the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, was promoting a 'northernization' campaign which saw the influx of many eager and enthusiastic lads into the military and other institutions. One of them was a Kanuri boy. Sani.

-City Senior Primary School, Kano.

-Kano Provincial Secondary School (finished in 1957).

-Government College, Kano (1957-1962), now called Rumfa College.

-Nigerian Military Training College (NMTC) (now called the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA), Zaria, Kaduna State (1962-1963).

-Mons Defence Officers Cadet Training College, Aldershot, England.

While a student his academic exploits become murky as some reports indicate that the former Nigerian ruler did not graduate from high school before proceeding to NMTC. The intellectual height and the depth of Abacha’s sagacity is a subject of intense debate with colleagues like General Olusegun Obasanjo dismissing him a dull personality, an ‘expendable brute not expected to rise beyond the rank of a warrant officer.’

Some even cited his not attending Sandhurst Royal Military Academy as evidence of an intrinsic lack of intelligence. But Abacha had a way of stupefying his opponents and those who underestimated him. He eventually became the Commander-in-Chief of the world’s most populous black nation. That doesn’t sound like what a stupid dimwit can achieve.

-CAREER & COUPS

Here is an overview of Abacha’s rise through the ranks in the Nigerian Army:

-Commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant: 1963 -Lieutenant: 1966 -Captain: 1967 -Platoon and Battalion Commander, Training Department, Commander, 2nd Infantry Division, Major: 1969 -Lieutenant Colonel: 1972 -Commanding Officer, 2nd Infantry Brigade, Colonel: 1975 -Brigadier: 1980

Health / The Heartbreaking Story Of The 18-Month-Old Hydrocephalus Indian Baby by Iyaniwura123: 4:14am On Apr 14, 2013
Her name is Roona Begum and she was born 18 months ago in rural India. She suffers from a condition called hydrocephalus (also called water on the brain although not a totally correct description). This is a condition in which there is an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) inside the skull. If this continues, the she can have irreversible brain damage. The condition can be corrected surgically but her father, Mr. Rahman, a labourer who earns just £1.79 (that's about N430 naira like many Nigerians earn per day) after a day of back-breaking work in a brick factory, is just too poor to foot the bills for the surgery.

In order to avoid the child from becoming permanently disabled, prompt surgical attention is required but for now all Begum's family can do is to make her as comfortable as possible and watch her worsen and deteriorate with every passing day. He cannot pay for a doctor. The operation to correct little Roona's case lasts for about 30 minutes and needs a paediatric surgeon. For a brick factory labourer in rural India, paying for such a procedure is a heartbreaking impossibility.

The brain produces about a pint of fluid every 24 hours which is normally reabsorbed into the blood vessels but with her, the circulation has been interrupted, hence the accumulation and swelling. The pressure on the brain causes headaches, blurring of vision and as hinted earlier, a permanent brain damage. Other symptoms include epileptic seizures, convulsions, sleepiness, vomitting, difficulty in feeding, trouble with walking (muscle coordination and balance), crossed eye and many others. Babies often die without treatment or become severely retarded mentally.

Now we get to the important part for pregnant women: hydrocephalus is not fully understood and has many causes and for many like congenital birth defects and genetic anomalies, there is practically nothing you can do to prevent it. It is not a preventable condition. However, there are steps that you can take as a pregnant woman to lessen the effects of the risk factors, and these include:

-Go for your prenatal (or antenatal if that's what you call it) care. Do not joke with it biko. Follow all your doctor's recommendation and checkups. These can help reduce your risk of a premature labour significantly. Premature babies stand a higher risk of developing not only hydrocephalus but also other complications.

-Infections have been linked with hydrocephalus so make sure that you protect yourself against infectious illnesses. Again, it boils down to your prenatal visits. Your doctor will check you regularly for infectious diseases.

FOR WOMEN OF CHILD-BEARING AGE BUT NOT PREGNANT OR YOU AND OGA AT THE TOP ARE PLANNING TO WELCOME JUNIOR IN NINE MONTHS TIME:

-Before you get pregnant, ensure that your diet is rich in folates (folic acid) which help in reducing the risk of your child developing neural tube defects, some of which come with hydrocephalus. And seriously, you don't need to break a bank before you can get your folic acid which is plentiful in leafy vegetables (especially lettuce and spinach). E never finish o, you can also get your good dose of folic acid from liver, kidney, egg yolk, legumes (peas, lentils, dried or fresh beans), sunflower seeds and fortified cereals (read package well o!). The following also contain moderate amount of folic acid: fresh juices of oranges, tomatoes, vegetables, broccoli, Brussels sprout, pineapples and grapes, bananas, strawberries and grapefruits. You can get from other food items but I believe these ones are readily available in Nigerian markets.

That said, one can also develop hydrocephalus AFTER birth even as an adult or child, as a result of traumatic injuries and infections. So, always ensure that your kids are properly belted up while in the vehicle and give them adequate treatment when they get infections (meningitis can be particularly dangerous and you need to ask your doctor if your child needs a vaccine or immune booster if a teenager) and let them wear helmets while riding bicycles, skateboards and stuffs like that.

Thanks for your time.

Culture / Post Mortem Photography by Iyaniwura123: 11:32am On Apr 12, 2013
DID YOU KNOW THAT: In the 19th century, it was the popular practice in Europe and the United States to prop up loved ones, (especially children) who just died, like they were still alive and then take pictures with them? It can sound crappy now but people did it.

Such pictures were then kept for memories. This act is called post-mortem photography (also known as memorial portraiture, memento mori or mourning portraits).

It is still done in some parts of Eastern Europe today especially with people who are considered to be very holy.

Born in 2003, the Kid President (real names Robbie Novak) is already described as an American comedian, a TED speaker (Inspirer) and a motivational speaker. He is a sensation on YouTube where one of his videos has over 10 million views already and he has caused a stir on Twitter. His videos center on inspiration and motivation, with enough comic relief. The Kid President calls himself 'the voice of a generation'.

http://iyaniwura.com/kid-president-meets-president-barack-obama-video/

Recently, his dream came true when he met with President Barack Obama who took him to the Oval Office (he even sat on the President's chair) and gave him a detailed lecture on many issues. President Obama also asked for his advice and suggestions and his response was quite awesome. The Kid President once proclaimed: 'I'm not in a party. I am a party.'

Foreign Affairs / The Man Who Sued God by Iyaniwura123: 3:26pm On Apr 07, 2013
You must have heard of all kinds of lawsuits. There was the Chinese man who sued his wife for being too ugly, and wait, he won $120,000. Oh, you are gasping yet? What of the student who dragged his teacher to court because the teacher woke him up for sleeping in class? Another classic lawsuit in terms of absurdity was the guy who slammed a $832 million lawsuit against Michael Jordan because Michael Jordan looked like him.

http://iyaniwura.com/the-man-who-sued-god/

But the fact is that all these lawsuits all pale in absurdity and sheer weirdness when you consider the case of an American senator who took the Almighty God to a court. It was back in 2008 when the Senator of Nebraska State in the United States, ERNIE CHAMBERS filed an unforgettable lawsuit against God. Now aged 75, and called the ‘angriest black man in Nebraska’, he is the longest serving senator in the history of the state. He follows no religion. His humourous lawsuit aside, he remains one of the best senators in America. He did not stop at just filing the suit, he sought a permanent injunction against what he called the harmful activities of God.

He was very specific: ”permanent injunction ordering Defendant (God) to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats.” Ernie’s suit named the “harmful activities” as “fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornados, and pestilential plagues…”

Well, the judge in charge of the case dismissed the case. Why? God has no address, and there was no way God would be properly served a notice. The Judge said: ”Given that this court finds that there can never be service effectuated on the named defendant this action will be dismissed with prejudice.” But Senator Chambers would have none of that. He fired back saying God already knows of the case since He is the All-Knowing. He retorted: ”The court itself acknowledges the existence of God. A consequence of that acknowledgement is a recognition of God’s omniscience … Since God knows everything, God has notice of this lawsuit.”

After some time, the Court considered proceeding with his case but the case was finally thrown out, with another Judge stating that there was no listed home address for the Almighty and He was not properly served. Senator Chambers filed for an appeal in November 2008, and a former senator, John De Camp and another Swedish lawyer volunteered to represent and defend God. In February 2009, the case came to an end when the Nebraska Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal, and that was the end of the lawsuit. Whew! God! Atimes, you just have to ask yourself what is law? And of course, what are lawsuits?

Well, just in case you are wondering, yes, there was a lawsuit back in 1971 when Satan was sued in Pennsylvania, USA. The plaintiff stated: ”Satan has on numerous occasions caused plaintiff misery and unwarranted threats, against the will of plaintiff, that Satan has placed deliberate obstacles in his path and has caused plaintiff’s downfall” and had therefore “deprived him of his constitutional rights”. Waow! I guess that’s a tip for those who will commit evil and blame it on the Devil. Come on, call your lawyer!

Thank you for your time.
