The best way to decide the Bakassi issue is to hold a plebiscite for the people. |
damoche07:Damoche07 you too much jare! See as you just catch this Kosovo man with his antics. The man don kia kia go underground ![]() |
McKren:What's the number of Nigerian boys engaged in 419? Don't you know that a lot of peolpe impersonate to carry out crimes? Majority of these criminals are not actually Nigerians but camerounians, etc. It's easy to label any young fraudster a Nigerian, just as it is easy to see every female illegal immigrant into Italy as an Edo. All these assumptions are very absurd. |
OEPHIUS:Abeg make you dey reason before you talk, and not the other way round! Don't come here to showcase your ignorance ok! |
babasin:That's the point! You are absolutely correct. If they are to be fed, then the monetisation policy will be defeated? babasin:There you go wrong! It's a constitutional provision that the money be returned to the treasury, lest it becomes misapplication. The government can only spend from what has been budgeted for a fiscal year. |
It is very unfortunate that it's the foriegn law enforcement agencies that always help us to dictate those who squander our commonwealth. What is wrong with the Met Police trying someone who contravenes their existing laws? Why must we assume that it is tantamount to washing our dirty linens in the public. If these our shameless politicians don't go to their country with their stolen wealth, no one will arrest them, let alone prosecute them. Are these politicians the only Nigerians that travel out of the country? Why can't they at least invest their wealth in Nigeria, if at all they have the goodwill of the people at heart. This will help our youths whom the they have stolen from to gain employment. @Mamajama, I don't understant what you meant by 'crank smoking', that notwithstanding, I will remain resolute about what I have said earlier concerning Ehindero and Adenuga. Adenuga has a lot of business concerns that employs thousands of Nigerians and foreigners. in case you don't know, Conoil, one of Adenuga's companies was registered sometime in 1982, then IBB wasn't the President. Therefore, it beats my imagination when you insinuated that IBB made Adenuga what he is today. Unlike Ehindero who stole from the NPF's fund, Adenuga is a genuine business man. I bought BIG B1's interpretation of the Adenuga running away fron Nigeria. It's actually Nigeria running away from Adenuga. At the right time, when the chickens will go home to roost, Sunday Gabriel Ehindero will account for his loot too! Today is for Ibori and co, tomorrow will be Ehindero and co. Cheers ![]() |
bukola88:In as much as I want to agree with you that Ibori's plight is being instigated by some people, who are not happy with his (ill gotten?) wealth, I must not fail to mention that if he hadn't pilfered from the common-wealth of the Deltans, nobody will have any tangible cause to victimise him. I know that the likes of Chiefs Edwin Clark, Great Ogboru etc will not rest untill Ibori is publicly disgraced. It no longer counts whether their actions are selfish or selfless. The question is has Ibori soiled his hands? Is it morally right for Ibori to display such a stupendous wealth whereas there's abject poverty amongst the people he presided over their affairs for eight years? I think our generation has no reason to celebrate corruption. Coming to EFCC harrasing Southerners alone, I strongly disagree with you. Is Saminu Turaki from the south? What about Joshua Dariye, Chmaroke Nnamani, Orji Uzor Kalu? If one has a clean track record, there wont be any need to fret. If the EFCC can't harass Dr. Chris Ngige who is even an enemy of the ruling party, I see no reason why Ibori could be harrased if has no case to answer. Ibori has gathered ant infested firewood, thereby extending a lunch invitation to the lizards. Let him take care of his problems! @mamajama, What did Mike Adenuga do? I thought you claimed that you would rather not comment on issues until culpability is established? If you don't want to say anything as regards the case of Prof. Aminu et al, why are you now refering to Otumba Adenuga. In case you don't know, Otunba Adenuga's problem stems from his unwillingness to wrongfully implicate Atiku Abubakar. He si not a thief like Ehindero! |
babasin:(Adeniyi added "I also want to make it clear that budget proposal is not the same as actual spending. For instance, in year 2007, the amount appropriated for the upkeep of the State House (foodstuff supplies) by the National Assembly is N717,595,192.00. Of this sum, N545,949,778.08 has been released. Out of which, to date, only N204,511,585.19 (represen-ting less than 30 percent of the entire budget) has been spent which means about 70 percent of the amount appropriated by the National Assembly will be retur-ned to the treasury by December 31." ![]() You posted this, how come you are now throwing the above question to angel101? What other answer do you need? Has your info not attended to your curiousity? I suggest you go through your post once again. |
mikeansy:Are you sure that this is the handiwork of Almondjoy? @poster, Whoever you are and whatever belief you might hold as regards the Ibori's case, I want to disagree with you that he made his money before becoming the Governor of Delta state. Is it not this same Ibori that was a common zinc thief? Abeg no tell us wetin we already know! Stop this your blind argument because it will take you no where. EFCC is not after Ibori for any ulterior motive ok! |
Jakumo:Tee heee ![]() You wan reap where you no sow abi? |
Mamajama:This is a very lame excuse. The aims and objectives of the media is primarily to diseminate information and not as your skew-whiff mind erroneously make you believe. I should have dismissed your comment as just one of those faux pas by some misinforned fellows, but I have come to understant that your antics is to use every available fora to defend Ehindero. Ehindero's culpability in the N21m scandal is as sure as the morning sun, you know that he was able to escape it because the police was not really interested in pushing the case forward. If the media is not being fair to public figures, how come the same media is not against people like Prof. Dora Akunyili, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iwealla, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, Senators Ken Nnamani, Pius Anyim and a host of other public personalities? Was it a different media that covrered Ehindero's case? Ehindero is corrupt, therefore the media will not cover him, gone are the days when the media was the governments catspaw. I understand your studied silence on this matter, but I must advise that you do not resort to ad hominems. |
Afam:Mamajama has no point there, Adedibu was accused of LIKELY BREACH OF PUBLIC PEACE IN ABUJA, IBADAN, PORT HARCOURT and some other cities in Nigeria, so any court within these places has the jurisdiction to hear the case. The offence is a bailable one, so I can't understand what he meant by throwing the case away. The most important thing is that some one has set the stone rolling, it really required guts to discredit Adedibu's words let alone charging him to court. Mamajama must understand that Okiro was not responsible for Ehindero's plight, telling us that he has a pix of Okiro sitting is his balcony as a way to support his assertion that he knows Okiro, is at best shallow and at worst irresponsible. @Mamajama, I have come to understand that you have a soft spot for Ehindero, pray tell me, how did Sunday Gabriel Ehindero get the money with which he initially bought the IG's official residence in the Maitama area of Abuja? You and I know that his entire life savings can never buy such a house. Changing a slogan does not mean believing in what it represents. Where was the integrity in the NPF during Ehindero's inglorious reign? How much was the salary of a police ASP during his tenure? If you call IBB names, then know it for sure that Ehindero must not be spared also. Okiro is loved by the ranks and file of the NPF. I know that Okiro will do better that Ehindero (that is if Ehindero did any positive thing at all). I have known Sir Okiro right from when he was a DPO in Enugu. He is a learned and responsible man who believes in the welfare of others, unlike Ehindero who was busy stealing the police fund to send his children to the US and acquiring choice properties. Are you even sure that Tafa's tenure wasn't better than Ehindero's? |
Emperoh:Politics is who gets what when and how. So, Peter Obi should endeavour to play his games perfectly if he wants to succeed. I say this because Yoruba people always say that a cockroach can never be innocent in the gathering of fowls. Only strict adherence to the constitution will save Obi from the sledge hammer of the PDP dominated state house of Assembly. Their loyalty goes to Uba because he sponsored all of them to those seats. It is even alleged that Uba pays each of them over one million Naira monthly. For the hungry and selfish legislators, the money is not what they can part with. That reminds me of Obi's campaign slogan 'Is Anambra state caused or are we the cause?', 'The society we abuse today will hunt our children tomorrow' etc, etc. I wonder when we can be able to differentiate between individual loyalty and community interest. |
Sir Mike Mbama Okiro has been confirmed as the substantive Inspector General Of Police. I am very optimistic that with his style of leadership and his pedigree, NPF is on it's way to greatness. Okiro is a refined officer and he is always ready to prove the stuff he is made of. |
debosky:That makes both of them thieves. In the next few years, we shall equally hear the true figure of OBJ's loot. debosky:OBJ was compelled to organise the so called elections by those who believe in democracy, unlike him, Left to him, who would have hang on to power. How can we forget the infamous THIRD TERM AGENDA that nearly brought governance to a standstill? IBB was compelled not to organise any election, when he did, he was forced to cancel it by those who don't believe in democracy. During the IBB reign, a dollar is equivalent to N80, while during the OBJ era, a dollar became equivalent to N127+. debosky:These traits are equally found in OBJ. Perhaps, people like Atiku, Dokubo, Ekwueme, Bola Ige, Harry Marshal, (the list is endless) could tell better. debosky:The 1999 Nigeria Constitution made it impossible for OBJ to stage a come back, though he tried to manipulate it through the back door to no avail, but this is not applicable in the case of IBB. OBJ does love to be in power, that's why he stole the chair of PDP's BOT from Anenih. Every body knows the atrocities being perpetrated by Adedibu, if OBJ is different from this man, he wouldn't be associating with him. TELL ME YOUR FRIEND AND I WILL TELL YOU WHOM YOU ARE! debosky:During IBB's regime, he gave us DFRRI, MAMSER, NAFDAC, LNG, More states, more Local Government Areas, No too many strikes by lecturers, cheaper pump price for petroleum products, no importation of petroleum products, functioning of our local refineries among other things. During the OBJ's 3yr reign, he converted the resources meant for Operation Feed the Nation to Obasanjo Farms Ltd. Diversion of funds meant for the ITT and National ID projects to personal accounts. I can go on and on. So, can you see that it's no case of saints and sinners? The only difference between them is that of six and half a dozen. Let it be on record that I'm not nholding brief for anybody. |
Mamajama:IBB was a military ruler yet he did not do one half of what OBJ did as civilian "DEMOCRATIC" leader. Remember the Zaki Biam and the Odi infamous raids, a replica of the unknown soldier saga, back in the late seventies. |
My vote will depend largely on the kind of candidates running against him. IBB is far better than most of our past and current leaders. Between IBB and OBJ and the likes, I'll vote for IBB, Between IBB and Prof. Pat Utomi and the likes, I'll vote against IBB. All human beings will naturally prove bad, unless some necessity constrains them to be good. |

buffead:Na wah for this small girl o! . I wonder why you allowed your emotions - notwithstanding how stupid it is - to have the best part of you. If you are unconcerned (as a citizen, if you are one) about the deplorable state of Nigerian Universities when compared to that of her neighbouring countries, then, you are certainly suffering from delusions of grandeur. Are you literate at all? Why do you want me to die there? I only said that I went there in 2003 for a workshop. I just noticed that you missed letter 'H' in you name. It should be spelt B-U-F-F-H-E-A-D, because that's what you are ![]() |

wisemugu:Are you an experienced or an entry level applicant? When did you write the test, when did you go for the final interview and how many interviews have you done? All these will help in answering your questions Thanx |
stdavoo:Even those who had their panel interview sometime in March are yet to be called for the final interview. I think it has to do with the absence of Otumba Mike Adenuga, because he used to be the last man to be seen by successful applicants, before going to their training school. Once you are sure that you passed the panel interview, then be patient because you will surely be called for the next one. |
The authenticity or otherwise of this issue will certianly come to limelight. I reserve my comment till then. |
Barely one week in office as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole may have been presented with his own political baptism. Some unnamed members are alleging that the new Speaker evaded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. The scheme is mandatory for Nigerian graduates of universities and polytechnics but those who are 30 years or above on completion of their studies are exempted. Also exempted are those who have served in Nigerian military and police. Section 13 of the NYSC Act (amended in 1993) makes it criminal for anyone to dodge the service, under-declare educational qualifications or work in either public or private sector without undergoing national service. Some House members, rattled by the way and manner the former Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Etteh, fell from the office, are insisting Bankole dodged the scheme. The new Speaker will be 38 today. Going by his CV, Bankole was 26 years old when he started working in 1995 at Freight Agencies, Lagos. Efforts to get the response of the Speaker to the allegation last night were unsuccessful. But THISDAY learnt that Bankole will address a news conference on the issue at 12 noon today, two hours before the House resumes sitting. As if responding to the issue, however, the Speaker’s father, Chief Alani Bankole, said yesterday in Ibadan, Oyo State, that the banana peel, the political phrase used to describe the fall of politicians from exalted positions, was not for his son in his new position. It was gathered that the seeming banana peel may not be unconnected with the short message service (SMS) that went round the House last Thursday before Bankole eventually emerged as the Speaker. In the SMS, members were told not to vote for Bankole, saying he was a chronic bachelor and that rather than serve Nigeria through the NYSC programme, he served the British Army. Those against Bankole then also said he swore to an oath of allegiance to the British Government before he was enlisted into the British Army. But a member of the Integrity Group and a close friend of the new Speaker told THISDAY last night that since Bankole was honourably discharged from the British Army, whatever allegiance he had to that country subsisted while he was in active service and not after his discharge. On the NYSC programme, the source also said that may not be necessary since Bankole received military training and also graduated from a military academy like Sandhurst where many Nigerian senior military officers were trained. He said what he would need was an exemption, if he chose to work in public service. Bankole, who represents Abeokuta Federal Constituency, of Ogun State, holds a Masters Degree in military techniques from Oxford University, England and was an Oxford Officer Trainee in 1991. He also passed selection to Sandhurst and was in the Royal Artillery Corps for a Short Service Fast Track Officers Course. From 1995 to 1998, he was a Director of Freight Agencies and later moved to become the Executive Director of Operation at the West African Aluminium Products Limited, Ikeja, Lagos owned by his father. The new Speaker is spending his second term in the House. He was first elected to represent his constituency in 2003 and was the former Deputy Chairman House committee on Finance. The elder Bankole spoke with newsmen in Ibadan at a symposium organised as part of the funeral rites of late Chief Adisa Akinloye, former National Chairman of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN). He noted that with his education and moral training, the new Speaker would be too conscious to avoid banana peel which had sounded the death-knell of many presiding officers in the National Assembly. Bankole, the substituted gubernatorial candidate of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the 1983 election in Ogun State, said his son had surpassed his political achievements with his emergence as Speaker. "My son will not be removed in the name of the Almighty God because he won't do anything to warrant that. He has got all the qualities he needs to be a good leader and to retain such an important position. I was never removed in any position I occupied in my life and I know with the support of God, his colleagues and the prayers of Nigerians, he will not be disgraced out of office,” the elder Bankole said. The Egba traditional title holder urged Nigerians not to mistake his son’s youthfulness for weakness or soft mindedness. He said: "My son will be 38 years of age tomorrow (today). When General Yakubu Gowon became the Head of State in Nigeria, he was 33 years and a bachelor and he had nine years of peaceful and progressive reign in this country; when Murtala Muhammad became Head of State in 1976, he was only 37 and when Olusegun Obasanjo became a military Head of State, he was 37 years. So if these former leaders did excellently well as leaders 30 years ago, and did not falter in spite of their age, then my son will perform excellently well and not falter.” He said Dimeji would not be a stooge to anybody as he has an independent mind, "he can't be pushed around by anybody and he won't pander to the influence of powerful caucus within the ruling party." The elder Bankole solicited for prayers from Nigerians for the lower chamber and for his son as Speaker. On likelihood of his son’s position affecting the position of Chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BOT) occupied by former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the same Ogun State, Bankole said he was not conversant with the arrangement for sharing offices in the ruling party. "I do not know about the constitutional set up in PDP. I do not know whether the position in the party hierarchy, especially those of advisory capacities, will affect that of parliamentary or executive positions. I will not be in good position to comment on that,” he said. But he said it would be diabolical to trade his son’s position considering his popular support from his colleagues for that of an advisory one within the party. He said his son’s accomplishment was brought about by many factors which included devotion and belief in God, self discipline, forthrightness and sincerity of purpose, pointing out that with his educational upbringing, Dimeji would make the difference. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=94534 |
The issue of EFCC is that of half bread being better than non. The agency did witch-hunting for OBJ. Nobody cares to explain why T(c)hiefs Lamidi Adedibu, Olabode George et al have not been arrested up till this moment by the EFCC, whereas people like Otumbas Adenuga and Fasewe are being bandied as corrupt men. Mallam Ribadu have on countless occasions confirmed the formers culpability, but has done nothing to bring them to justice. We know that the EFCC has arrested some corrupt people and had even prosecuted some. My worry is that the agency is persecuting those it has no evidence of corrupt enrichment against. As regards the sons of IBB and OBJ, corrupt enrichment is the same, the amount involved notwithstanding. Both cases must be treated equally without any resort to ad hominems. Justice is blind, therefore, does not see whether one has stolen 1 naira or if another has stolen trillions of pounds. Let's get things right. Didn't EFCC spend tax payers money to go for a wild goose chase when it accused Alhaji Atiku of taking a $100,000 bribe from Mr. Jafferson? Why can't it spend same to pursue a case of $500,000 which is 5x bigger? EFCC should wake up, let the truth be told. With all the foreign financial assistance it has been recieving, it must not be seen as anybody's cats paw. |
The University of Legon, Ghana is better than any University in Nigeria. When we went there for a workshop on Leadership in Africa (2003), many of us were amazed as regards what we saw: the teaching culture, their library etc. But for the introduction of vices, we should know that criminality is in every human being, it only needs a little encouragement to manifest. |
Why is it that everytime anything about the US is mentioned, the next thing will be 'Nigeria is this', 'Nigeria is that'? The truth remains that Nigeria and the US are no match at all, they are no mates either, so why the comparison and multivariate analysis. Even at this Nigeria's snail-speed development, there will be a lot of improvement by the next 50yrs. What we only need are commited and resourceful people at the top. |
The EFCC actually speaks from two sides of their mouths. They go for the real thieves and at the same time wrongly atack the opposition to c(t)hief Obj and his cronies. It must be noted that those theives they go after are those who have fallen out of favour with Obj. If not so, why is Olabode George still waxing stronger after embezzeling NPA's fund while people like Otumba Oyewole Fasewe and Otumba Mike Adenuga are being harrased because of their friendship with Atiku Abubakar. Every day might be for the thief, but one day will definitely be for the catcher. |
davidyland@yahoo.com:Excellent! But for Nigeria to achieve greatness, she really needs selflessness and commitment in both the leaders and the led. We shall get there. |
She resigned because Obj removed her as the head of the Economic Management Team while she was away in the UK negotiating for the relief of our foreign debts. She was apparently removed as the head because of her posture towards the 'come and chop' government of Obj. She was still active in government when the scandal actually broke out, so it couldn't have been because of it. She was never sacked by Obj. @vigasimple, She is now one of the IBRD's MDs while Ezekwesili is a Vice President |
