Materials for manufacturing automobiles are the same world-over. Igbo made or otherwise shouldn't come into play here. Denex, I notice that you are fast recuperating We can't afford to lose your fingers on Nairaland, especially this section.Quick recovery! Mc Omo:What's so fantastic about Lagos state owned roads? Is it not the same Lagos that I visit always? We are discussing about somebody's health, and you are here showcasing how insensitive you are. Who cares if you bother or not? |
Nigeria for 37th position? How many better countries come remain for Africa? With all our natural and human resources? Isn't it a shame? Nigeria is the Giant of Africa abi? Abeg make una no let Davidylan see this one o! ![]() Nigeria! Where are you heading to? Dear Nigeria, I weep for you. People will still tell me that we are ahead of C.A.R., DRC etc, what nonsense! ![]() |
How to battle corruption abi? Let's take a cue from China. Otherwise we go dey even go backwards |
Hmnmnmnmnmnm! Interesting! |
JosBoy4Lif:What are you driving at? Does the statement lack merit? If e no start yesterday nko? |
@Davidylan That's the beauty of 'amala & ewedu' democracy. Lest you forget, Nigeria runs a political system known as 'come and chop' . Stop wondering why the Obas went to London, how could you have forgotten so soon that their fore fathers were carried away as slaves, died and buried in London, as traditional rulers next to their ancestors in ranking, certainly they've gone to pay homage to their ancestors ![]() To be serious, the money expended on these hypocrites would have been enough to award scholarships to many necessitous students of Ekiti origin. I ask, how will a traditional ruler (who has sold his prestige for a mere tour abroad) be able to stand his grounds in a case involving the welfare of his subjects? Kai! These old fools are nothing but cretins ![]() This is no longer a case of poverty, but that of greed, stupidity, infact I lack words to describe these maggots. The Alafin of Oyo was once given a car gift by Gov. Adebayo Christopher Alao-Akala of Oyo State, this Monarch blatantly rejected the offer, adducing the prevalent chaos in the state as a reason. If our old ones are corrupt and our young ones ain't better either, then we are doomed! MAY GOD REDEEM US FROM THE TRAMMELS OF OUR WICKED RULERS. |
Kobojunkie:Alright, I accept. Eventhough it doesn't go down well with me. I beg to leave, it's close to 12 midnight here and I am still on my balcony striking the keyboard. @davidylan, I-man, Omoge, his_grace and the rest 'NIDs', I say HAVE A GOOD TIME, it's been really nice chatting with you guys. |
Kobojunkie:God forbid! I don't mean to insult anybody, I was only being objective. I was not born with a silver spoon, I worked hard to get to where I am today, so I also felt the unfortunate wind of poverty. Yes, being poor in the US might be better than being poor in Naija(because of the former's social welfare packages), but it's still poverty. Sleeping on the street of Washington DC and sleeping under Ijora Olopa bridge means the same to me. So, let's join hands together and fix Nigeria. Cheers! davidylan:Good to hear that, I wish you success. I also promise you a percel of land at the Nigeria In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Village. here in Abuja ![]() @almondjoy, You sef too get bad mouth ![]() |
Kobojunkie:Some Banks even pay more than that. Others include companies with interest in oil and gas, some conglomerates, some others in the Telecom sector. To be sure, Equitorial Trust Bank now pays a graduate trainee in their employ 3.4 million Naira/annum, you now calculate this figure and see that I wasn't suffering from delusion of grandeur when I made the comment. I always strive to objectify my comments, in terms of developement one can't compare Nigeria with the US, but all the same, I won't hesitate to point out some truth about Naija, notwithstanding that I'm not comfortable with our snail speed kind of socio-economic delopement. I know that poverty is abound in Naija, but the claim that it's non-existent in the US is where I'll sharply disagree with you. Poverty is a reality in America, just as it is for millions of other human beings on the planet. According to the US Census Bureau, 35.9 million people live below the poverty line in America (http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/income_wealth/002484.html), including 12.9 million children In 2004, requests for emergency food assistance increased by an average of 14 percent during the year, according to a 27-city study by the United States Conference of Mayors. Also in this study, it was noted that on average, 20 percent of requests for emergency food assistance have gone unmet in 2004. According to the Bread for the World Institute (http://www.bread.org/hungerbasics/domestic.html) 3.5 percent of U.S. households experience hunger. Some people in these households frequently skip meals or eat too little, sometimes going without food for a whole day. 9.6 million people, including 3 million children, live in these homes. America's Second Harvest (http://www.secondharvest.org/), the nation's largest network of food banks, reports that 23.3 million people turned to the agencies they serve in 2001, an increase of over 2 million since 1997. Forty percent were from working families. 33 million Americans continue to live in households that did not have an adequate supply of food. Nearly one-third of these households contain adults or children who went hungry at some point in 2000. Proportion of Americans living below the poverty level: 12.7 percent (34.5 million people) Poverty rate for metropolitan areas: 12.3 percent Poverty rate for those living inside central cities: 18.5 percent Poverty rate for those living in the suburbs: 8.7 percent Percentage and number of poor children: 18.9 percent (13.5 million) Children make up 39 percent of the poor and 26 percent of the total population. The poverty rate for children is higher than for any other age group. Child poverty: For children under age 6 living in families with a female householder and no husband present: 54.8 percent For children under age 6 in married-couple families: 10.1 percent Poverty rate for African Americans: 26.1 percent Poverty rate for Asians and Pacific Islanders: 12.5 percent Poverty rate for Hispanics of any race: 25.6 percent Poverty rate for non-Hispanic whites: 8.2 percent See "Household Food Security in the United States, 2005" by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, March 2002, for further details. davidylan:Tee Hee Tee Heeeeeeeeeee ! I hope it consumates, only that you didn't add Nigeria Plc ![]() Abeg finish your Phd quick make you come contribute your own qouta for Naija to grow Most importantly,his_grace pls sheath you sword, there's no need to be insultive, we are all one, our collective goals towards the betterment of Naija should be our priority. Oops, PHCN (NEPA) don take light, make I go on generator, will be right back! ![]() |
goldenisk:The above is a good example of faux pas Degrees have nothing to do with scruples. Some of the armed robbers we have today are second degree holders. Fmr governor of Enugu state, south-eastern Nigeria was a U.S based medical practioner, yet he looted the state's treasury as if there were no tomorrow, likewise his counterpart in Rivers state, in the south-south. Frm gov of Anambra state Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju has a Phd in law, yet his leadership took the state back to zero piont. What I'm saying in essence is that, cupidity or the opposite of it has nothing to do with formal education. |
@Davidylan & ors, Do you guys defend of better put, will you guys defend Naija this way you defend the U.S at every given opportunity? Remember, there's no place like home. Building a new Nigeria entails a lot, but I do know for sure that mocking her is certainly not part of it. How can you compare a Nigerian Perm. Sec. with a restaurant attendant in your U.S ? Come on, we need to show some respect. I didn't mean to say that you will stay put in the U.S, sorry if it embarrased your person. A graduate trainee in Naija can earn as much as $2k/month, depending on the type of job and organisation. Yes, LBS is a good place to study. Do you mean that I shouldn't have commented on the U.S electricity issue simply because I have same problem or even worse here in Naija? I try as much as I can to exteriorise my comments, I will say same about Nigeria, and I believe you know it, so I'm not tufaced. Or did you mean 2face Idibia? ![]() Nwado's description of the poor in the U.S to say the least, is at best shallow and at worst decietful, we all have eyes and ears. I will equally make it clear that nobody goes about looking for nagative things to say about the U.S, like somebody surmised, all I'm advocating is that opportunity abounds everywhere, all we need do is to tap it properly. There's no point to be insultative or antagonistic over triffle, we are all one, I trust that our collective goal is to redeem our battered image through various fora available to us. With all hands on deck, we shall get to our desired destination. We owe our unborn children that duty. I so much admire the American spirit of patriotism, and I hope we Naija's can do same for Nigeria. Cheers ![]() |
davidylan:No! David, you are very wrong. I'm not desperate, neither am I obsessional about going to the US. I am basically concerned about my studies. I know that with an MBA, I'll be better-off in my new place of work. Also, the US is not the only place for me to study, I was only considering the best in terms of finance, because I don't have money to throw about. Bro, I have a good job here in Naija, so going to the US to scavenge isn't advisable at all. Your belief that I'm scheming to use the MBA program as a way to be in the U.S is wrongly premised. Therefore, I will gladly dismiss it as a mere mumpsimus, though I fell strongly about it. Moreover, for the reason that you might have decided to stay put in the U.S does not mean that every other person who wants to legitimately go to the U.S will equally sojourn there for life. There are better ways of running to the U.S, like the visa lottery which I don't fancy. Finally, David, I've seen parts of the US that doesn't enjoy electricity, does commenting on it make me a hypocrite or a tufaced kind of person. You don't need to remind me that the standard of Education in Nigeria and the US is not the same. Be that as it may, I will neither give my arm nor my leg to study in the US. Ah! I no fit now! Say wetin happen! ![]() Cheers |
Even there's one here, it gives no reason to rejoice. Afterall, it's for his/her own good. Senator ko! rotaneS ni. |
olrotimi:That's it. I wish her well too. |
uf4oma:I wonder o! Ebe like say this America sef don pass heaven o! Shebi na the same America wey electricity no dey for some places? . Well, if they like make they cut their bumbum join sef, e no concern me Nonetheless, all man to his opinion, no matter how absurd it appers to others, that's the beauty of debate ![]() |
Mamajama:Them use IBB swear for you? Why can't you comment without refering to IBB? BigB1 na where you dey? Abeg come bring Ehindero into this, so that as usual it will turn to IBB/Ehindero issue. I actually enjoy reading your comedy. |
Na only these ones you hear? Infact, you dey really cause mayhem with your posts, no be small o! |
It's not unusual ![]() |
Why will she resign? No be that position baba use settle am? And by extension making her the only qualified person to be the speaker in baba's garrison command. She no go resign unless say they tie am rope for neck drag am comot. Na Naija wey dey o! jookcointl:With utmost respect to your person, I fell strongly about your bringing of Okiro into this. He is a decent man and can't afford to have his name smeared just like that. |
Carlosein:You rightly observed it. Small time now im go start to bring OBJ, IBB and rest of them into this topic. @topic, the U.S government should equally legalize the carrying of grenade launchers, atomic missiles inter alia, by individuals. At least, that one go pafuka people pass small firearms ![]() |
toshmann:Correct! ![]() No long thing! ![]() |
phatgirl:Na wah for u o! Is this encouragement or discouragement? Of a truth, this your contribution is at best shallow and at worst irresponsible. Everything is not all about money you know. Experience counts a lot. @pipmaster, You know what you want, just keep it up. Help will surely come your way. |
Hi, For relevant replies, move this to education. Cheers |
It's not out of place to do so, in so far as love exists. |
Are the so-called freeborns better than those tagged osu? What makes one a freeborn and another an osu? The Osu caste system is completely outdated. Those who still believe in it are just functional illiterates. |
Just now ka'm bata na the forum. Ika noya |
Prof. Soyinka has a right to air his mind. IBB on the other hand, can equally defend himself. SO, why the fulmination? |
Jen33:Hmmmmmmmmm! What a statement from a supposedly wise Nigerian! Do you need to be told that LEADERSHIP MUST BE SELFLESS IN NATURE? Kobojunkie has actually attended to your misconception, propaganda and pietistical stance. All I need add is that, either you are not honest with yourself or that the policy of multivariate analysis is very strange to you. |
I wonder when our government will respect the right of her citizens to protest injustice meted out to them by foreign multinationals. Our soldiers who could not confront their Camerounian counterparts in Bakassi, are now testing the fire-power of their riffles on unarmed youths fighting a just cause. The community leaders in these areas also contribute to this unrest, because most times, they misappropriate the community developement funds entrusted to them by these agents of neo-colonialism, striving towards the impoverishment of their host communities with the help of our law enforcement agents. Government should remember that the force to reclaim rights and address injustice is far more moral than the force to supress same. One needs to visit these host communities to see the level of neglect prevalent there. Some don't even know what electricity is, while their backyard oil companies neighbours are living like Egyptian Pharoahs. They totally evade their social responsibilities. When will Nigerian leaders ever think right? God help us! |
