OBJ should send her congratulatory letter. It's not an easy feat.

texazzpete:
Patriotism isn't the opposite of Pragmatism. There's no reason why the two should be mutually exclusive.
I was only refering to those who want Ngozi to be the president as patriots because the love for their country and by extension country woman, will not make them believe that the position will not be compromised by the U.S, at least for now. The pragmatists are those who actually see the situation the way it is - that the president of IBRD is for the U.S candidates alone.

Besides, you could have put up your own opinion instead of giving me lectures on morphology alone. All the same, the pragmatists have been proven right!
Cheers.
PoliticsRe: Okonjo Iweala For World Bank President by iykrion(m): 11:11pm On Oct 04, 2007
Patriotism 90%, Pragmatism 10%. That's what I have seen on this particular issue. I hope the patriots win, but I am afraid, the pendulum might (should I say will) swing to the pragmatists. I keep my fingers crossed. undecided

Abeg help me tell swiftycool to have a rethink. Swiftycool! Abi dem don give you chop? Most of the monies being stolen by our leaders are found in these your Messiah countries. If they meant well, why helping our short-sighted and greedy looting government officials milk us dry? Like the christians say that they will never go back to Egypt, I want to tell you that I will never support colonialism, neo-colonialism and imperialism.

But Ngige is becoming like a demi god in Anambra state, where ever he goes, there is a traffic jam. Dont u think its one of the parameters 4 measuring public opinion?
It is the hallmark of selfless leaders. Ngige will ever remain indelible in the Minds of we Anambrarians. Whether he is multifaceted or that that he has gone to the Devil, the fact remains that he liberated us. Politics is who gets what when and how.
almondjoy take note.

Wind of Change For where? After we chased the GOD SENT colonial masters away so that some of us can selfishly plunjer our wealth and impoverish our citizenry.

I challenge anyone to give me proofs of any change in these areas touched below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxIzU4KKyWA
I agree that Nigeria is retrogressing, that the wind of change is blowing from better to worse. But I will never subscribe to colonial masters being 'GOD SENT'. They too had their ulterior and selfish motives.
PoliticsRe: Kogi Governor Killed Students. by iykrion(m): 9:12am On Oct 04, 2007
almondjoy:
You do not need my help for that. The older members of Nairaland have set the good example for tribalistic and separatist sentiments.
And you call that a good example? Will I be wrong to understand that you are one of the older members of Nairaland? Therefore, you equally championed the cause of trabalistic and separatist sentiments, overtly or covertly? Has the idea done us any good? sad

almondjoy:
You are doing a good job on your own. At least, you are an adult, so how can anyone influence you?
Your expression of agreement here ('doing a good job on your own') I guess, is not supported by real conviction. I stand to be corrected to say that you are feigning what you are really not.

almondjoy:
Are you that gullible? tongue Is that how you found your religion, by following blindly to what others say without questioning?
Gullibility? Nope! That's why I was able to point out your stealthy and sinister moves, typical of bigots and promoters of ethnocentrism. I will never be tied down by doctrines (let alone religious), it is a stylemark of fanatics.

almondjoy:
I am just expressing my findings and observations here.  The issue is that there are just way too many anti-nothernern sentiments and anti-muslim sentiments on this board.  It is not meant to be incitatory but to see how futile and hateful it is to do so.
What has that got to do with a Governor's aids shooting at rampageous mob? If you truely know that you are not being incitatory, why bring up the North/South dichotomy?. Did you not read the news? In as much as I want to agree that the shootings were marks of irresponsibility and wickedness, by the aids or whosoever authorized such, I will not fail to say that, students should maintain lawful ways of clamour. Digging up a portion of a federal road is certainly not to be considered as one of the ways.

almondjoy:
As for the issues presented here, as you can see, the Kogi state governor did not kill anyone. wink
Where did you get the assertion from? You now see why I said you should stop your behind the scene comments? Please, stick to issues in the discourse - A case of a Governor's aids shooting at rampaging students.

Finally, Kogi State University is not populated by the northerners alone. There are other tribes equally. Ours should be a generation of peace and reconciliation, not that of discordance.
Cheers.

too many anti-northerners on nairaland. angry
What a misguided statement from a shallow minded fellow sad

almondjoy:
Does it not amaze you? In my opinion they are more peaceful than the so called "southerners" of christain virtues--even with all the Osama Bin Laden synrome! I fear southerners more than notherners--believe it or not. I can understand what a northernern's probem is. But a southerner--I am yet to figure that one out. Have not even been able to break ground to build the foundation for their issues. Too bad I am one! Franklly, I really do not care either way. But I do not think is not "anti-nothernism" that is the problem. It is just sheer self-hatred! Pity!

A constant quest for something to hate even when you have no reason to. Only because the self-hate has no outlet and is constantly festering. I would rather have a nothern neighbour than a southern one! kiss That is a shame. I never met a set of hypocrites that masqueraded our earthly planet than those from southern nigeria. And boy! Do they make the most noise! shocked Carry on!
Your attempt to surrreptitiously incite members of this forum into unhealthy argument, has been revealed by your weak and illogical write up. You better discuss issues as they are presented. Stop this your behind the scene comments.

I will always remember OBJ for his unguided utterances.
PoliticsRe: Chris Ngige And Peter Obi : Who Is Better? by iykrion(m): 9:05pm On Oct 03, 2007
almondjoy:
For now oh! You know things change drastically in Nigeria using the principles of "the more you look"--- Peter Obi of course! Ngige to me has no principles. The typical Nigerian from "you know where" who will sell his soul to the devil to achieve wealth, fame and political clout. One of those communion-taking persons that still can visit Okija for blessings. Anywhere the blessings can come from--it does not matter to him. What a person. Might even engage in rituals-who knows? undecided

Someone like Ngige is to be feared. He understood the terms of his appointment as former governor of Anambra state and still agreed to play the game to the special sacrifice of his soul. Only to be disgraced out of office.
As for Peter Obi--we are still watching to see what the heck he will turn into. To be or not to be!
It will do us some good if you clarify the touchstone that you employed in measuring Ngige's and Obi's principles. Secondly, you have failed to realise that it was Dr. Ngige who initiated the liberation of Anambrarians from the trammels of god fatherism. He also set the pace for the transformation of the state, he did all these at the expense of his political career, which many politicians will never try.

ogalanya:
Chris Ngige and Peter Obi : Who is better?
It depends on the angle you are coming from. Both have different ideologies and pronunciamento. Ngige did well, and this was proven during his last campaign tours.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Compares Nigeria And Congo, 47 Years After by iykrion(m): 8:33pm On Oct 03, 2007
Mamajama:
DAMN you guys are so critical of OBJ. What is wrong in comparing Nigeria to Congo?

Ain't we glad we are not subjected to all the tribal conflicts going on in other countries?

Look at Dafur, How many people here criticizing OBJ will hold a gun and defend their town?

Yes I am with OBJ on this we should be grateful to Lord for shielding us from all this wars.

Look at Niger Delta. this is just one region in Nigeria and we can't even control this THUGS, but yet we have to be thankful it's not all over the country.
Your vindication of OBJ on this discourse is at best shallow and at worst irresponsible. It beats my imagination why you refused to look at Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa and others in this category, rather you chose to mention Sudan. Why don't you compare us with Chad and Niger? When Davidylan said that 'Nigerians love to bury their heads in the sands of denial', he never had you in mind, but now I put it to you that you have lend credence to that statement.
Niger Delta crises is one of the direct results of the OBJ's misrule and insensitivity towards Nigerians. That you have freedom of speech and association (with OBJ), does not mean that you should taunt others with your misguided utterances.

davidylan:
Maybe we should export some strong wind of change to Congo.
Congo would have realised by now that, accepting our wind of change will certainly have negative effects on them. cheesy

babasin:
shocking!!!!!!!!!

for progress/improvement, do you compare yourself with the worst or the best??
That's the point, the Nigerian system is always retrogressive, so people like mamajama who see nothing wrong with OBJ's statement is actually playing the core Nigerians - Traitors!

@poster,
Is the Republic of South Africa to be blamed for our leaders greed and short sightedness. Should their companies in Nigeria be run down because Nigeria Supported their quest for freedom? Is MTN and co to be blamed for our corrupt labour leaders blind eyes towards the plight of Nigerian workers?

Do you know how many Nigerians presently reside in South Africa? Are you suggesting that they should make their immigration policy porous because Nigeria assisted them during apartheid struggle?

Compatriot, South Africa is not in any way to be blamed concerning what has befallen Nigeria, after all we are still the "Giant of Africa" huh. Or don't you think so? grin

Why fighting over what other people's houses look like? You guys should better talk of your intelletual prowess with respect to how others might gain from your experience, rather than giving credence to stolen wealth.

PoliticsRe: Ibori Wins Against London Police, Recovers £35m Assets. Deltans Rejoice! by iykrion(m): 10:46am On Oct 02, 2007
McKren:
Ibori obviously won this case because when London Met police came to visit the AGF Micheal Aondoakaa, the AGF simply refused to see London Met police but instead wrote a letter to Ibori's counsel stating that Ibori has no case to answer.

Thus the Judge at southwark crown court simply threw out the case for lack of strong evidence.

A clear example of fighting corruption through due process in President Yaradua's Nigeria.
Oho! embarassed embarassed shocked shocked, this wind of change is gradually turning to hurricane Yar'Adua. We are still watching.
PoliticsRe: President Ahmadinejad Meets Jewish Rabbis In New York by iykrion(m): 9:51am On Oct 02, 2007
I consider it innocuous to be ignorant of an issue than to be knowledgeable in distorted facts, geared towards selfish interest.

Is the struggle for visas to western countries a peculiar case to the Iranians only? Perhaps, the same crave for emigration by Africans and other non-Iranians are the spill over of the Ahmadinejad unintelligent approach towards issues in far away Iran.

What I mean was the way he answered the question 'if he intends fighting the US', and not that Iran is at war with the US.

You must have heard of the word 'non-alignment'. The U.S has no right to meddle in Iranian internal affairs. He was voted in, he did not become the president by way of coup d'etat. There are laws and decisions making bodies in Iran. You may also want to 'stroke your information keyboard' and avail me of the 'knowledge' as regards where to find the nuclear weapons that took the US and her allies to Iraq.

Oh! I forgot that the US did not destabilize Iraq, also that the US does not have any kind of selfish economic interest in Iraq (like oil, etc) in particular and the middle-east in general, and therefore will stop at nothing in destroying the reputation of her percieved stonewallers. If Iran calls for the death of America a thousand times a day, it is because Iran sees the US as an enemy, afterall America is not the only country in the world. You so much defend the US, pray, tell me, why is the US working on a legislation (NOPEC) to outlaw OPEC? Another kind gesture from the US, or is it otherwise?

I'll agree with you that information has no substitute but on the grounds that, it must not be distorted for the sake of selfish interests.

Let me state here for the purpose of records that, I am not a sympathiser of the Iranian question. I'm only saying that we should look beyond America's surreptious selfish interest. Absolute diplomacy should be encouraged, so as not to spark off another war. This time it might not be only in the Mid-East, it might spread to America, Europe, Asia etc. We must try to avert this imminent World War III, as predicted by Nostradamus.

Finally, the facial reasons for the causes of these problems should not becloud our good senses of judgement. Perhaps a little perusal of 'The Nostradamus Code: World War III', will give an insight into this discourse. The book is authored by Dr. Micheal Rathford and published by Truth Revealed Publishing. cool

davidylan:
Not everyone who loves to hear himself speak and hogs so much press is intelligent. I ask a simple question: what qualifies ahmadenijad as intelligent?
Should I consider a man who has been championing the cause of his people, as unintelligent? Well, lots of things make one intelligent, I have seen him speak, especially on the issue of going to war with the U.S, the issue of IAEA, the Jewish question, and lots of other international issues. But, all the same you are entitiled to your own views about Ahmadinejad. It is an issue of two sides of a coin.

A man who consistently affirms that his country has NO homosexuals and denies the glaring facts of the holocaust is not intelligent. Yar Adua is Nigerian president not because he is intelligent but out of convenience.
Well, if you say so. But I still believe that he is actually intelligent, although he has not told the whole truth about his policies. He might be denying the presence of homosexuals in his country, because it will really do a lot of image defamation for his country if he admits such. Best regards.
PoliticsRe: President Ahmadinejad Meets Jewish Rabbis In New York by iykrion(m): 1:04am On Oct 02, 2007
President Ahmadinejad is no doubt intelligent, because no fool becomes a president. The question therefore, should be: Are his intentions for peace geniune? That he met with some selected Rabbis does not mean that he meant well for the Jews.
