Hello All, Been away for a while. Just thought to upload a few pics of Melbourne CBD. Enjoy.
|
pingu2k5:Thanks. Same to u. |
FutureDon:Thanks man. |
2posh:I am a Customer Insight Analyst / Retail |
So delighted to tell and encourage u guys. Finally got my dream job here in Melbourne with an awesome package as well. Its been almost 3 months since my arrival, and I've been lucky to have been attending interviews on a weekly basis. I grew stronger after each interview, as I used the weakness as a strength in d next one - thanks to d feedback culture here. No dulling na immediate resumption. |
kubbiebrownie:OK will check. |
gbaskipro:I wish you well on the grant, but I will advise you do a proper research on the transition from dat visa to PR or picking up full time employment; you need at least 457 work visa or a working holiday visa to work full time. In lieu of this, what I have read on the 402 visa is that you can only transit to another research visa after a strong case of not being able to complete your initial research. The visa holder is not authorized to transit to another type of visa on research completion and thus return home. You can point me in d right direction if wrong. |
EEAA:BCIE always quotes big money bank statements. Even if you are applying to a Uni in TOGO, they will request a N5m acct statement. |
EEAA:If its SVP u don't need any financial proof, just a strong SOP, which is convincing that you will return to your job in Naija. Payslip is for PR application. |
Ooh sorry guys it is izykvision@gmail.com. OK will send you a mail today. Yea its really sunny and nice. Just like yesterday, was even at d park with my family yesterday and there was barbeque at different sections; everyone flexing d public holiday wey no get meaning...lol. Guess d spring proper has started, cos that of last month was winter in disguise. |
Ifexsco:Lol. Settled down now. Came in thru airbnb. Paid for a week. Cldn't get a place that fast and my host especially d wife started having some funny attitude, which we guessed was cos of our kid as him no look uche face, just dey jump everywhere lol. But dey didn't have a choice but to take payment for another week. So spent 2 weeks with airbnb; and still didn't get a place, but was just lucky on my 13th day to get a shared accommodation. Stayed there for 3weeks and now got a proper place. Quite nice and descent, bills inclusive. So sorted my family tax benefit, which currently pays like 70% of my rent, sorted my kid's childcare -out of $84 a day, I pay $20 and govt. covers d rest. My wife got a job in 5weeks of arrival in an Insurance firm. I am still doing interviews. Lengthy stages cos of my field - customer analytics. But almost there by His grace. In all Australia is a lovely place and a better place for kids compared to the UK or US. |
Caucasoid:Lol. Did u come as a student, cos still figuring out y u ain't allowed to cook. As per restaurants dem boku for Oz and are ready to use their POS .So if care is not taken u will be dialing +234...The closest u can get for a film trick African meal is an Afghani restaurant. Sure u will enjoy their kebabs, Afghan bread and sauce. Next will be an Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian) restaurant. Well good luck with that, cos don't know how you will manage eating out till January. |
Caucasoid:Lol. U need to cook. As per rice just got something close to naija rice - India Gate (Basmati) which I will stick to now after experimenting with long Thai and jasmine. They were both rubbish. Not seen per boiled rice or likes of arozo lol. For tomatoes buy Roma, chilli - buy red bullet, beans- buy white beans. Bought red kidney beans though, but will revert once finished. Don't know about Gold coast, but here in Melbourne i've virtually seen everything close to naija, except plantain. There is semo, fufu, stock fish, ogbono, egusi, okro and garri- which i bought for $25(4.5kg) lol. Though sold in African shops. Okro can be gotten anywhere in their fresh farm markets. Don't know what u order that cost that much though, cos a $15 meal will feed 2 pple. |
erictack203:U've been duely answered. Depends on the state. But better to have ur skills assessment and IELTS ready. |
mjlbabajide:They don't need any proof, even you acct officer's name ain't required. You need to check seek.com.au and see availability of ur work. Check reeds and hays quarterly skill in demand report or any other professional recruiter that covers geology. It is vital ur occupation or closely related job role is stated in demand in that report for your likely arrival time. Quote this and job availability as advertised in your very strong commitment letter. This is your weapon for Victoria. I used 3weeks to write mine- A 7page letter of intent and why I chose Victoria. I did loads of research for this. Victoria is VERY choosy, so BE PREPARED. |
erictack203:Sorry to hear this. Visa application to any country in the world demands proper planning and thinking on ones feet. If the coy u work for is not online, then that is a major problem, because they just Google d company's name if no website was provided. And if not satisfied, will put a call through or email. But when they can't accomplish the first verification step, its a straight NO. Vetassess uses this template, but tend to carry on with the 2nd step I mentioned above with Asian applicants. |
erictack203:States have csol and regional list. Check the regional list to see if your nominated occupation is on it. From there you proceed same way as 190, but filling 489 for your assessment and in EOI. You get 10points for 489 and 5 for 190. So you still need to have your occupation on a list: SOL, CSOL, or Regional. |
mozo:There is no relationship between 189,190 and 489. They are independent of one another. 489 is used by the govt. to lure people who cant meet up with the requirements for 189 or 190 to regional Australia, so as to develop the regions; and of course its a temporary visa, which u can switch to perm. when there in due time. |
mozo:Why did u assess for a qualification that reads 'special conditions apply'? Did you study in SA or worked/ currently working in SA? Did you click on 'special conditions apply' link to see the conditions spelt out for the nominated occupation, before heading to VETASSESS? Or is there any other state sponsoring your nominated occupation? Do u qualify for 189? |
cybug:Ok. SA uses like max 3weeks to nominate. So for Feb. ure fine. But you shld be praying that by the time VETASSESS comes back in Nov. the slut is still open for Economist even if it reads LOW. SA availability changes quickly. |
sanmibukunmi:Strictly online. |
WinningSun:Factory jobs, warehouse jobs, cleaning, security, care jobs (elderly, mental health, learning disabilities), customer service, shops like retailers (coles etc) Most of the time, one gets too tired or engrossed in it and thus reduce intensity searching for the main thing. So if one is doing any of these, one needs to do it with SENSE. Don't forget that as you work out of your profesional line, you are creating a gap on your CV and recruiters don't like such applicants. |
cybug:State? Occupation? Bsc degree in? |
cybug:If your invitation to apply for the VISA comes before your birthday e.g feb 14 is your birthdate, and invite comes feb 13, then you are fine to claim the points for age 32 which is on your EOI. So its how early you get the invite not EOI. But of course EOI has to be in place for the invitation to come. |
cybug:Its now called a complete assessment, which includes the point test, but your first year at work is used to meet the work exp. requirement. So if you have worked for 2 years post assessed qualification, you only have 1yr work exp. With VETASSESS you need 5yrs post work experience if your qualification is not related or closely related to your assessed occupation. Or 1yr if they are both related or closely related. The 1yr work exp. deduction doesn't affect your assessment only when claiming work exp. points at DIBP stage. If you meet the (B) part of the above requirement, then you have 8mnths work exp. to claim on your EOI. |
erictack203:Thanks man. Its actually worth the sacrifice. |
Accommodation na serious matter here o especially for non-students. Never experienced such a hectic process before. Even in the UK, you will surely get a place under 3days provided there is a vacancy and also depends on your taste. Going through Agency you need to apply for a property, wait for the inspection date, of which you are already at a disadvantage because majority of other applicants are currently working in Australia. The Agencies and Landlords want applicants that are in employment. Except you have a fat bank account funded with transfered funds from Naija of about AUD10,000, of which you have to promise to pay 2-3months upfront and additionally a bond of same amount, then you can be considered. Some landlords are good and wont mind, but it seems people have some kinda alert on gumtree, because an advert put up 10mins ago already has 36views. SO you call and the landlord says someone is keen and he/she will put you on the waiting list in-case the person's references don't come back clean (serious long thing). Getting a shared accommodation (not that easy though, as this comes with several restrictions like culture, religion, no couples etc) is the best to start with for minimum 6 months to enable you get a job and possibly build up more funds, before you move to an apartment or house of your choice. You will also need a character reference from the landlord or person in charge of letting out the room to you at the end of your 6months lease to help your application. After so much wahala and several inspections, I have eventually settled for and gotten an en-suite master bedroom in a shared house, as i have a wife and son. On a lighter note, 1st week of arrival i already did 2 interviews within my profession and progressing in stages in both. Same goes for my wife. My experience above is based on what i have seen in Melbourne, might be different in other low population suburbs and other states. But to a large extent they practically do things the same way here in Australia. |
mozo:It means apply NOW, there are few spaces left. It can change to 'not available' in 1 hr, 24hrs, 3days or even a week. No availability means its filled up with applications, |

don't know why they take that long,... Lemme just keep my fingers crossed and hope for a positive outcome
