BlueRayDick: The reason why people are apprehensive about the whole state of origin issue is the fall out of the general elections where tribal card was played . Aside that most people would not have thought its even an issue for discussion .
I remember under Obasanjo when Gadaffi was still alive and Nigerians were deported from Libya for varying reasons . Dapo Sarumi was the minister of information then if I still remember correctly . They evacuated people based on their state of origin and Dapo Sarumi being a Nigerian politician made a kill out of it . Everybody was given funds that run into thousands of dollars by Libya to facilitate their journey to their home state , but what Sarumi did was give them few thousands of naira depending on how far ur village is to Lagos international airport
If u are unfortunate u are from Ogun state , u will get lesser than 5k out of around $3k which some of the deportees alleged Libya released to them . Nigerian politicians wicked o! Na person wey dey go Allen avenue go lose pass 200 naira max |

BlueRayDick: Most of us who grew in the south don’t know these things until we get posted to the north for NYSC . Na when I go NYSC me sef experience this thing live .
So many chad and Niger citizens get dumped on the way when they fail this test . It’s either they bribe the immigration officers in the dark of the night or they get detained . Most times the bus drivers always have an arrangement with the illegal immigrants in the bus right from park . The driver talks to the immigration officers and pays for their safe passage .
A lot dey happen for this country ! That was what came to my mind when i saw that State of Origin post there. |

Eunoiaa: So if a passport or other means of identification can be forged, how does knowing the state of origin REALLY clears the actual Nigerians?
Like, is an SOO division the highest and infallible form of verification? When I travel to the North, one of the ways the Immigration checks is to ask for your SOO If you tell him Abia, he will ask for the local government, and the place you come from there When you tell him, he will most likely try to greet you in that language, and see how you respond. If you try this method for 10 Sudanese, the probability of getting one to pass all is very slim. PS: I am just assuming it was a means to verify after checking Passports and seeing that the number was more than what they expected |

You know a military force cannot enter another country without approval even in peace time, never mind in war time
So how does rebel approve military entering your region
Its like holding kidnap victims hostage and you want to send "civilians" inside to negotiate I just tire RSF is accusing other countries of supporting the Sudanese Army sef Then they see 10 Hilux with Nigerian soldiers approaching their checkpoint SMH |

Make una go watch videos of what is happening, and you'll see that some of the assumptions here are not realistic
Egypt to Sudan is almost 2000km. I wonder how you want soldiers to travel that by road. When will they reach? (I am assuming they make it alive sef)
You are complaining for 1.2 million dollars for bus. As if there are buses operating now. If there was, all Sudanese would have japaed. The risk and greed involved is supposed to jack the price up |

Theflint1: Wetin you dey talk guy, military guys always have to be part of evacuation efforts...sure you can have civilians doing government-government conversation, but it'd be the height of risk and probably irresponsibility to attempt an evacuation from a country in war without military guys involved in the process. So the Nigerian Military lands in Egypt, then drives 1000 km by road. Gets to Khartoum and head to its embassy Abeg when RSF see them, wetin go happen? |

I repeat, those men could have heard the price government said they paid and realised its not close and decide to negotiate. You say agreement is agreement as if you nor know say things fit go from bad to worse and that same thing can lead to renegotiation. Surely e nor suppose hard you understand na OG Renegotiations happen But telling me that they heard 1.2 million and decided to renegotiate is a joke... Evacuation efforts from countries in war is a job for the military, not civilians...if things ever were to go south in the course of evacuation, you'd feel a little bit safer having military guys with these Nigerians than civilians. Leave Netflix bros. Bringing the military in this situation is just exposing innocent civilians to the bullets of RSF The best is to settle Rebels as they move |

Also in these times no be every bus fit go enter warzone, A place wey normally na 100 buses per day maybe now na 20 per day. Imagine the rate the 20 go don increase price
The bus operators fit quote you $10K per person because na dsperate times I surprise say people dey complain I know say corruption follow, but the price to find a bus would be overly high If a seat was 5k, they can charge 75k and you have no option. |

This whole thing is part of general Nigerian incompetence sha (no be today e start, and no be APC start am), but we should do better. I'm sure the ministry of foreign affairs don't even have an evacuation procedure on ground for its citizens, na just to pack themselves go there then make it up along the way.

Theflint1: The overwhelming majority of them would have Nigerian passports, especially given the demographic...students sponsored by themselves or their parents for education, for those that don't have, they can then be passed through other forms of verification including confirming state of origin, or even asking to speak with a contact in Nigeria.
However, all of this is pre-boarding verification, it's assumed that once they've been verified, the next phase is boarding, and not sorting into state of origin before boarding. If you have travelled to the North, one of the ways Immigration officers question any suspected foreigner is to ask of his state of origin, and his local government. Now there are over 6,000 people that a few officials neet to verify...How do you think 100 people will verify 6,000 without mistakes and being overwhelmed? Everything is not about criticising Or did you hear that they left Anambra and carried only Kano? |

P.S Just reread. Seems you were referring to the drivers not the panicking children. Yes, the drivers Doc, one thing you should know is that Sudan is now a Jungle; Everybody trying to cheat and eat anybody FG procured the service of 40 buses for $1.2 million. Apart from corruption, it is clear that those buses must have multiplied their fares by 50...Very expected for a country in crises Now, only a stupid person would pay in full. If those drivers receive complete payment, they can decide not to deliver...Owo ti lor. I am not there, but maybe they have stops where they have negotiated to receive payments as they go. Theflint1: And I'm sure the passport was designed by the school photocopy guy the day before?
Maybe they also have passports for US, UK, Senegal, Ghana and other countries on standby in case the Nigerian passport doesn't work.
Whoever can successfully fake a passport that would pass scrutiny can definitely check Google for state, LGA and even village details to scale through whatever oral checks you assume they want to do. There's nothing in what Abike Dabiri said that remotely suggested they were doing it for any security measure.
This is not the first time Nigeria is doing evacuation from foreign countries, but this is the first time I'm hearing the persons being evacuated are being evacuated by state of origin, and not based on their being Nigerians. I have asked you a simple question and you have spent 200 words without answering it. You have names of 5500 Nigerians in Sudan You make provisions for 6,000 and see 6,700 at the pick up location. What do you do? Answer the question first, then i know you want to profer solutions instead of just arguing |
