BlueRayDicks: It depends on what is written on the LPO . If the LPO says the vendor will get payment within 3 weeks of signing the LPO, he will wait for at least 2 weeks before starting to disturb his contact in the bank. By then the staff may have processed payment into wrong account, the POS operator move the funds and the bank starts investigating what went wrong.
I'm not saying this is what happened, but this can happen . Don't rule it out and think the bank is selling a story that never happened . So, when they paid the first installment, the bank did not notify the contractor? When any company pays you, they must inform you. The Ajebo ones must send you a mail The Pako ones will use their accounts guy to call you and tell you. I know we are sharing our opinions, but in a corporate world, this is not possible |

Itsrm: In addition, if you receive a huge amount of money like this in an account that has not received it before, the money will be automatically placed on lien until the bank gets confirmation from the sender that the money is intended for you.
This happened to me the first time I received 2m in my account. I was seeing the money in ledger balance but not in available balance. The first day my mum sold land and received millions in her account, GTbank called her to state what the money was for. I have a current account and i am sure the first day i receive 10 million there, my phone must ring |

BlueRayDicks: Most people who do business have long regularize their accounts to receive huge sums. My savings account for example I've long extended the limit ; how much more someone doing POS business ?
You are only looking at things from a rigid and restrictive point of view. Ask people who work in procurement departments of big companies, banks and multinationals. When they give out contracts to vendors and they expect them to deliver within a certain period of time, it's not impossible for the vendor to be waiting hoping to receive the payment and it takes too long before he calls the bank. It's after such calls that the negligence of the staff that processed the payment will be disbursed. That is enough time for the POS operator to have started spending his largesse and move the funds elsewhere.
I'm not exonerating the staff who made such grave error, but I'm only telling it is possible for such things to happen . The same we can individually send money to a wrong account is the same way a banker can pay a wrong account and not know until the destined recipient complains of not getting the funds as expected. It is NOT POSSIBLE TO MAKE THIS MISTAKE REPEATEDLY, bros. I am telling you because i was once behind a system in a commercial bank. Even as an individual, you cannot repeatedly be sending millions of naira to the tune of 280 million, unless the person has dementia. |

Emaprince: Mind you, the transfer wasn't done once..I think in the report, it said it was done in batches.. So how come after the first and second, they weren't able to detect the mistake? Infact, that line makes it more ridiculous. Even if they were sending 1 million with each batch, they would know at some point that it was a wrong account detail. Dem never serious |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 11:14am On Apr 19, 2023 |
BlueRayDicks: I think u got a picture about the whole thing in ur head that does not really align with what was narrated in the news article.
Firstly the N280m was not transferred to his account in one transaction, but in different tranches; it is the total sum at the end of the day that amounted to N280m. I don't think there's any restriction on the amount you can hold in ur savings account at any point in time; the restriction is on how much u can receive or transfer at once.
If the transfer was made from the bank's account, I don't think the bank will receive debit alert like when u transfer money from ur own bank account . My guess is most likely the bank wants to pay a vendor (Like let's say the bank wants to deploy a new IT infrastructure which costs N280m) and the vendor provided his account which whoever processed the debit mixed up and paid someone else(The POS operator).
Somehow the bank will assume they have paid the vendor and will be expecting him to deliver until he doesn't and they find out he didn't receive the funds. It is only normal for the whole transaction to be audited and then the error is detected after POS operator don begin spend money or even move the money in tranches. The lapse of time would've made the placing of lien a futile effort cos alaye go don move funds.
Perhaps when the case reach court , we will get the full gist.....But u should have an open mind that the whole thing might be a serious negligence/innocent mistake on the part of the staff whom I believe must either be in EFCC net by now or already relieved of his job for gross negligence. There is a restriction to what you can receive in a Savings account. Even Student account, the moment you receive above 500k, a lien would automatically be placed on it. You will need to go to the bank with a valid ID to access that account Paying someone in batches makes it more ridiculous, because you would have been notified by the recipient that he didn't receive anything. Instead of asking for reconfirmation of the details, you send again. Ahn Ahn This is a typical case of fraud that went wrong. 280 million is not 280,000 naira Account wey dey do POS dey suddenly receive 280 million and spending it too? |

How does a thief counter another thief? The thing can never make sense to me Like ...You inputed 280 million, inputed account details and a name pops up. No verification and you put your token to send. You still got an alert and it did not occur to a Commercial bank that it was a wrong recipient? They still didn't place a lien, or contact the Alfa's bank to place one on his account? This country is just somehow |

All this came out becaue someone decided to promote her as the face of ccecc rail operators. From there several bros izzou types saw fine girl, decided to enter dm, started going through her post history and now here we are.
You have to be very careful about how you identify yourself and what you write on twitter because if you suddenly become a celebrity or simply notorious, your post history can become your undoing.
As it is, this whole story is less than 24 hours old. But knowing Chinese who come from a culture where them no born you well to call oga patata pooh bear, where jack ma was effectively cancelled for talking out of turn, the lady is gone. I am not defending what she posted...I am not saying she is right sef. I am simply telling you that nobody was benevolent to her. It is either she is qualified for the job, or she does not work for LAMATA. Even as a Yoruba, nobody will give you a job in Lagos government on a platter. You are either qualified, or you know someone that knows someone. Whether she is gone tomorrow is her own wahala. But she is there because she earned it. |

I don't understand
How will a commercial bank mistakingly transfer 280 million to someone's account?
A POS operator will most likely be using a savings account; 5 million kpere
So how did he receive 280 million in it?
When they discovered that it was a mistake(a big lie), why not place a lien on the account?
So, they let him roam all around Kwara, looking and pricing houses, cars and pay for Hajj...
Like...They saw him do these withdrawals and did nothing? |

GloriousGbola: I am just countering one of your arguments. A rail operator, particularly a light rail operator is not a highly skilled job. That is why I posted the job description. You do not go to university for it. It is within the level of driver but lower since you are not driving on a road with other cars. The lady, unfortunately can be easily replaced if it comes to that. A light rail operator is lower than driving, but they picked a young Igbo girl less than 30, with no political value and cruel hatred for a Lagos hero? I know someone who got a job as an Auto technician for LSBL. He was my colleague then. He got it through a godfather. But Tonia job was so common that they left loyal party members and went to Twitter to pick an Obi disciple? If you believe this, then i currently have 2 plots of land on Alfred Rewane for 259,999 naira. |

That is the jd of a light rail operator
While ccecc is much cheaper than julius berger one of the fked up things I have observed about them is it is mostly low level jobs they give Nigerians.
In hindsight the lady was a miscalculated pr stunt. A potential face of a diverse ccecc. Instead it is just a controversial employee You are making a mountain out of nothing, sir. The tweet yesterday said " Meet Tonia..". It did not say they employed her yesterday. You do not randomly run into a rail operator in Nigeria. 99% of our universities do not offer such courses. And considering how young she is, it is either she studied somewhere else, or she was selected for it. If that girl was truly a staff of LASG, she would not type what she says. These things na just common sense. She openly showed her digust for BAT and the tweets are still there. Tonia is not a Lagosian neither is her father or mother of any political value, but you want to tell me Tinubu helped her life by picking her? Even you as a Yoruba man; you cannot be given a role or a job because of that. If anybody is chasing clout, it is Gawat and those saying the government is benevolent to her. If they had another choice, dem no born that girl well to still dey work for their org till now, despite tweeting those stuffs |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 9:36am On Apr 19, 2023 |
Reading some comments here, one would think that you can just call for applications on a blue rail line operator, and you'll get 1000 applications the next day
That girl was already being trained for the job even before now...Maybe years back sef.
And not to sound tribalistic, but if it was left to LASG, they will not choose an Igbo girl, the same way Anambra will not choose a Yoruba girl.
The girl was obviously the most qualified, or like the rumours have it, she is working for CCECC.
If truly she was on LASG payroll, she would not type that. |
