Persephone1: Lol... So let me get this straight.
Nigerian men monetize Nigerian women's efforts and roles, women are beginning to see and act from men's perspective now there are issues. All of you will be alright!
When you are quick to ask a woman what she brings to the table, what she added to your success, what her contributions are in the home all because they aren't monetary and quantifiable then it's only a matter of time before such woman stop trying, take off her "insignificant" deeds , becomes completely "useless"and contribute what you only understand/acknowledge MONEY by earning. Drink water you will be alright!
As for cooking, a man who understands and acknowledge the non monetary effort of a woman deserves lots of mouth watering dishes. But a "what do you bring to the table" kind of man deserves "plates filled with cash". All of us will be alright Ma, A woman does not know how to cook. Should she be applauded for this or not? I would appreciate your reply, ma |

Okay, I get your point.
But you know we can also flip this and apply it to you, right?
Infact, I will dare say it that you men that are saying a woman must know how to cook do not actually require those standards of your women.
If you think I am making mouth with all I am saying here, who's to say you and the rest are not making mouth too?
Oh. You believe so much in your own integrity to be true to yourself?
The fact that you cannot conceive something, especially outside of your scope (and life outlooks), doesn't make it a lie. I am not here to argue anybody's world with them I as a guy had to cook for 11 months because i had no option. So why should i applaud someone for not knowing how to cook? Even if you hate men with every breathe you take, why shouldn't you learn how to cook for yourself? I am yet to meet a lady that cannot cook and isn't willing to learn. I have never seen any in my entire life. This is the first place in my life that i would see ladies applaud ladies that cannot cook. No vex if i sound archaic |

GloriousGbola: The Irony of your argument is that women across the world, brought up in different cultures from hyper conservative to Uber liberal have been and still are being taught to cook.
The target market of designer cooking utensils and accessories are not men, they are women. The stars of the cooking threads in this platform are women and no one is bothered with it.
A woman who can cook is as important to a marriage as a man who can knack properly. Yes you can do without either, but a lifetime of this will be pretty grim. |

A woman should do majority of the cooking to save resources or a man should do majority of the cooking or should they both take turns with whoever is available to cook..

Kholiwe: Anybody that wants to learn how to cook should do that irrespective of Gender. Anybody interested in cooking should learn not just women. The idea that women must be good in the kitchen only propagate the wrong Idea that they belong there. It also creates a situation where the man is okay not making food because he believes it is the job of the woman. Don't blame me for my opinion. liveLongNprospa: Lmao izzou calm down and follow the conversation well. I said that cooking is a skill both genders need.
I also said that I know this conversation is because alot of men ascribe cooking to the women in the relationship which is not the way it is unlike then.
I gave an example by saying what if the woman earns higher than the man and thereby takes on more responsibilities in the home, who then cooks?
We all agree cooking is important to both genders. Where it seems we differ is which gender it should be traditionally assigned to now..
Personally it doesn't make sense for it to be a woman when both of them are working and earning and barely have time.
OH before I forget, for me I don't bother about whether she can cook or not coz eating food from outside nor dey commot anything from my body coz I'm lucky to be able to afford that lifestyle 🙏 If you create a thread stating why Men should cook, i will not argue or defend why we shouldn't I said it before...Everybody should know how to cook. I served in Kebbi state, and i cooked from my first day after Camp till i left There was no buka. If anyone did not know how to cook, or try to learn, you will eat bread till you eventually die. This has nothing to do with whether you have money or not Cooking is necessary, and instead applauding women who can't, encourage them to learn. I am also happy you are stating your opinion. It is good. But it is not a true reflection of our world. You can do a survey of married men here that have wives that can't cook, and pay chefs to do the job. Let us see how many they are |

Being responsible to your family means to provide for them. The woman can pay a chef to cook and that sorts it out. Some of these things na lack of money dey reduce ability to navigate simple issues sometimes A country of 133 million poor people, but we need to justify why cooking is not important and a man can pay chef to cook. If na European dey type this thing, i go understand. When i was working, ladies bring their food flasks to work. Both single and married. A man and a woman should be responsible to their family. Things are not so black and white like before.
Use our realities in Nigeria. Imagine marrying a woman who cannot support the home financially in this economy 😁.
Unless you are a rich man or woman then go ahead. Even some rich men dey ensure say their wives dey earn atleast something. Coz who knows tomorrow.
Wooh this conversation dey based on our individual outlooks on life If you say the bolded, why should one person not know how to cook, and we say we are both responsible?
