BlueRayDick: Some governors in different states have fixed federal roads within their states in the past.
Wike fixed series of federal roads in Rivers state during his time s governor and he got reimbursed by Buhari's FG for some of them. I remember seeing Wike's full page advert in the papers thanking Buhari led government for reimbursement for some of the federal roads fixed by rivers state government. It made news headline then because Wike was a hardcore critic of Buhari's government.
I also know Ambode's government had some palliative repairs work done on Lagos-Apapa expressway ( a federal road) during his tenure as governor of Lagos state.
I think governors sometimes fix federal roads in their states just to alleviate the suffering of the people, but whether they will get reimbursement from FG for such intervention projects is not cast in stone at all. It's mostly the prerogative of the FG to decide if you will get reimbursement or not since no agreement was signed with you before embarking on such projects I definitely know some governors fixed, but the tweet said OBJ, Yar Adua, and Buhari reimbursed governors. The number of governors that fixed Federal roads since 1999 fit no reach 10 sef. It's a good thing to fix oh. I'm not blaming Otti for what he did. I'm just saying that reimbursements can only happen with proper arrangements, and not immediately |

PDPGuy: If this story is accurate, then Tinubu is more of a disgrace than I thought Devoid of sentiments, I think this tweet doesn't explain a lot. Firstly, there's a budget for the year. The FG has a particular number of Federal roads to fix in the year. If the Federal road in Abia is not captured for the year, and Otti does it, how exactly is he expecting them to refund him? I am asking oh. Pardon my ignorance. Maybe the condition was for him to wait till they capture it in another budget, or he can toll it to get his state funds immediately. But refunding when the road wasn't in the budget looks impossible to me. If he did it and the road was in the budget, then the tweet is correct. Secondly, I would like to know how many governors since 1999 ever fixed a Federal road, and how many was ever fixed. State roads wey dem never finish, na Federal road dem wan do? Obaseki even paid and fix a billboard, telling people that Benin to Sapele was a Federal road, not his responsibility. But I agree with you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a disgrace. That one na sure 2 odds |

MorataFC: Most of you have misunderstood the key point. Yes, an increase in fuel price can reduce patronage, fewer people may travel, and some may resort to trekking if their destinations are not far. But no driver will leave the park with half-full vehicle.
The real question is: how many commuters will actually resort to trekking? That number is relatively small. For instance, can you trek from the mainland to the island? Of course not. This means a large percentage of commuters still have no choice but to use transport. People still go to work, school, and markets. So the idea that a driver operates on ₦5,000 worth of fuel and ends up with just ₦50 profit is just LAMBA of the year.
Yes, the number of trips per day may reduce, also your vehicle fuel consumption will also reduce accordingly. For example, if a driver normally makes 12 trips daily and it drops to 8, their total earnings will naturally be lower than when they made 12 trips, but I believe the increase in fares should help compensate for the reduced demand. The only way this argument would make sense is if the driver is consistently operating with half-empty passenger loads from the park on every trip. But realistically, even a mad man would not do that, especially with the current high cost of fuel. An increase in fuel price WILL reduce patronage. Nobody's salary has increased since fuel ran up to 1320. What do you think they will do? Mr A earns 200k, and spends 20k on transport monthly. Now, he would be spending 28k on transport, and also food and other issues have increased, yet his salary remains the same. You don't think he will cut his cost? Number of trips will obviously reduce, and you can verify from anyone you know personally. Go to Interstate garages and see vehicles littered everywhere, with drivers sleeping in it. Some might be in the queue for 3 days, and e never reach their turn sef, because no passengers. Nobody wants to lose in this situation The driver won't leave the park with half filled passengers. The passenger will not just pay any amount because you said so. He will also, by any means, reduce it for himself |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 8:49pm On Mar 28 |
MorataFC: That calculation sounds neat, but you ignore a key factor, transport fares have also increased alongside fuel prices.
Why are you people ignoring that fact? Are drivers still charging the old fares? Certainly not.
Now, let’s look at this calculations more carefully:
Old Price Fuel cost comparison (for 4 litres): Old price: #870 × 4L = #3,480
New price: #1,400 × 4L = #5,600
At the old price: Keke carries 3 passengers at #300 each = #900 per trip Assume 6 trips, #900 × 6 trips = #5,400
Profit : #5,400 − #3,480 = #1,920 ( by 6 trips )
At the new price: Keke carries 3 passengers at #500 each, #1,500 per trip Assume the same 6 trips → #1,500 × 6 = #9,000
Profit: #9,000 − #5,600 = #3,400 ( per 6 trips )
So even with higher fuel costs, increased fares have more gain the the old petrol price.
Let me go a bit lower sef.
Let assume the transport fares is #400
At the new price (#400 per passenger): Keke carries 3 passengers at #400 each, #1,200 per trip Assume 6 trips, #1,200 × 6 = #7,200
Profit: #7,200 − #5,600 = #1,600 (per 6 trips )
So mathematically the higher the price of fuel in Nigeria the higher the profit for drivers, don't let them bobo you . The patronage obviously becomes lesser with the increase. I think that's the assumption you're getting wrong. The roads are currently free in Lagos. Ibiye to Agbara is 300 naira with Keke. This was the old price at 870/ltr. I still entered it at 300 naira today. Alakija to 3rd avenue was 500 at the old rate with Okada. It is still 500 to 600 now at 1320/ltr While I agree with you that 50 naira profit is not true, The increase doesn't mean more money. It brings a lesser patronage for them. People will rather trek, lap themselves, find private vehicle to beg or get a lift, or find alternative means than pay the increase. |

Tinubu's supporters say the SMEs have probably been living a fake life all these while. I'm sure if u go through that Morris Monye's comment section, you will see BATists insulting him and calling him all sorts of name. These are guys that have probably not floated any business in Nigeria before o.
I remember seeing them drag this LP guy; Ife Salako who owns "Amala Ibadan" chain of restaurants for supporting Obi and not Tinubu despite operating chain of restaurants in Lagos. Nothing wey dem no call that guy and his business until the day I stepped into one of his restaurant to eat amala and then followed his business page on social media. They even tried to broke shame him for selling Amala to make ends meet.
This guy has in his employment tens to hundreds of youths spread across at least 8 different locations. This guy even gives back to the society more than some of the politicians that finance their loyalists to insult him online. The guy is more credit worthy than most of the BATists insulting him online. A lot of Nigerians are not exposed, and this cut along all tribes. People who think their world is a perfection reflection of the entire world. Supporting IMF figures online, but dying in real life. Tinubu will soon come and tell them how coastal road will benefit their health problems, and they will run with it. Everybody is really struggling now, and maybe that's just the reset we might need to begin to ask for a better country. |

To change plates to reflect your state of residence is now an issue, getting insurance is also lack of freedom, getting drivers license is also lack of freedom, Na so people shiiting by the roadside too will say they are expressing their freedom and those telling them to stop are infringing on their freedom Adelabu wants to turn the purchasing of number plates to a secret society connection, because he wants to make more revenue We have repeatedly told you that the money is in renewing plates, and not buying it. The 3,000 naira my dad used to buy number plates in the 2000s is a one time payment. He probably has spend 1000x of that renewing the papers till date. Fight for Oyo to renew all states papers. If you go to Oyo, you'll see Oyo plates much more than all the other 36 states combined

BlueRayDick:

The kind fantasy you are living in your mind ehn.... He said "It's easier for government to do". Whether they advertise plate number or not, a state government does not have the powers to stop anybody from using any other state's license plate on the state road. According to FRSC Act 2007 you can use any license plate from any state nationwide irrespective of the state you are resident in.
A bright mind should know that and not be talking as if there's anything he can do to change something entrenched in a Federal law.
Even if he decides to compel Oyo state of assembly to draft a law to ban Vehicles of residents carrying other state's license plate on Oyo road, the FRSC act will supersede the state law when it is tested in court. No be small fantasy The effontery to think you can force anybody to use your number plates. Abeg, make una no start wetin we no go fit finish for Nigeria. Nigeria has 37 states.
