The same question I asked myself after seeing it for the first time, the only horrifying kills he made were kinda implied and off screen. Except for penny, those four jerk offs he killed warrant no sympathy. Worse violence have been committed on screen.

I believe those who say Joker glorify violence are the ones who can't stomach the success the movie made.

If anybody wants to talk about a movie that glorify violence they should talk about Avengers Infinity War and Endgame. To think both movies are PG 13 should be enough reason to make one cringe.

Even the producer said it himself, that he willingly left that aspect/part of the movie vague for the viewers to choose the narration that best suits 'em. Both sides had a very compelling argument & if you were to continue arguing till the biblical trumpet sounds, it wouldn't make a difference.

Same way I could argue that, not all physical relationship leads to child birth, or That Thomas might actually be responsible and when Penny tried the blow the whistle, she was silenced by him, or that the only real scene in the movie was the end, were Arthur was at that mental asylum & that every other thing we saw in movie was a figment of his imagination aimed at justifying himself at whatever he did.

All is clearly a matter of perception & nobody is wrong or right. According to the director, there isn't a definitive explanation & there wouldn't be any, because the whole mystery fuels various discussions, debates & theories amongst movie goers that tends to keeps the movie in the spotlight.

So the guy who played Thomas Wayne said Thomas Wayne had an affair with Penny Fleck. I guess whoever interviewed him should have asked him if it was written on the script he read that Penny Fleck and Thomas Wayne had an affair or if it was written on the script that Thomas Wayne put Penny Fleck in that asylum.

People still can't decipher people's personal opinion defer from facts. So much like them to always run to the Internet to search for opinions of people who watched the same thing they watched.

- Appearing in the Murray's show at the beginning, wasn't real.
- His relationship with his pretty neighbor wasn't real.
- A flashback scene showing a man interviewing his mom was viewed from his POV, so might simply be imaginary, like he imagined appearing in Murray's show, or having a romantic relationship with his neighbor.
- The asylum ending could be real or imaginary.

A billionaire with political ambitions like Thomas Wayne has a whole lot to lose if it comes to light that he fathered an illegitimate child. Someone with enough influence/money can manipulate events, like falsifying adoption papers, to forfend themselves from their transgressions

These are the reasons that convinced me that Thomas Wayne was Arthur's dad.

- First, how did he know that Arthur, someone he has never met prior, was adopted? In my experience, if someone you've never met, suddenly appear out of the blue, and claim you as their father, even if you're privy to private details about them, it's very unlikely you'll play your hand in that instance, unless you're very certain of the cards you're holding. Do you see where I'm going with this? Only a man that set up another man knows exactly where to find a contraband. Basically, Wayne was very quick to tell Arthur he was adopted, because, he was sure of himself. He knew that there is evidence somewhere backing him up.
- Second, Arthur's mom photograph was signed T.W - Thomas Wayne. It takes a certain kind of familiarity to sign a photograph of a "staff" that is not your wife in such an intimate way. A lover kind of familiarity.
- Third, a mentally-ill unmarried woman will never be allowed by any state in America to adopt a baby. It's impossible. This proves that the adoption papers were forged.
- Fourth, a mentally-ill unmarried mom will never be allowed by child protective services to keep her abused child, thus proving that the allegation of her being mentally ill is false

to your first reason: it's obvious he was very close to Arthur's mum. I believe she and he shared a special bond like the kind of bond he shared with Alfred. Remember Alfred knew who she was immediately Joker mentioned her.

To your second reason: I guess Thomas Wayne could also sign a photograph for Alfred and we'll all say they're intimate or preferably, they were gay lovers huh?

To your third and fourth reason: did it occur to you Arthur's mum wasn't born delusional? That she adopted him before she went Loco? Remember in the clip shown where she was being addressed in that psyche ward, where it was revealed Arthur was abused by her boyfriend when he was little?

All this prove she wasn't born delusional, that Arthur lived with her as a child and was abused by her boyfriend as a child while she didn't even try to defend him. I believe that's why he snapped and killed her.

To conclude, this is what I think happened;

Wayne on finding out that Penny was pregnant, had her committed, then faked adoption papers after she gave birth, to ward off any future request for a blood test. Simples.

no doubt Thomas Wayne could do all this. I mean the dude proved he's that much of a douchebag, but still, all evidence points to the fact that Arthur Fleck was adopted, he was abused as a child and his mother was delusional.
