Women take this as a serious offence.
Many of these women are bored and very idle. . . . When i tell ma female pals i ma call em back in 5 mins and i dont call. . . .It's WAR.
They actually note the time i made such promises and the the time i actually made the call as if it's the biggest crime in the world.
As for me, who cares . . . . . Not calling me means more time to be by maself n make ma own moves.

@ Jairzinho,

Fame is not by achievements alone. . . . . If it is, David Beckham should not be the most famous footballer in the world.
Beckham is not skillful, never won a competition with his country but his fame dwarfs Nigeria as a country(never mind Kanu Nwankwo).
We are not talking achievements here. . . . . We are talking about who would attract more attention. . .Kanu or Rio??
The answer is so glaring!!!! RIO versus Kanu is like 50 cent vs Eedris Abdulkareem.
'Nuff said.
Sports / Re: The Problem With Wayne Rooney! by Jackal(m): 7:26pm On Jun 26, 2008
@ Dayokanu,

It's not about goal-scoring, u pillock.
Ronaldo is the 1st choice penalty taker and the dead ball merchants. . . . all those stuffs tend to build his goal haul.
Besides, Ronaldo doesn't miss games but defenders would tell u they fear Wazza more than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rooney is the focal point of Man United's attack. . . . go and watch Man Utd vs Liverpool game at OT(Rooney didn't score but won MOTM).
United's best performance this season in any game was the humiliation of Wenger at OT in Feb.(Ronaldo didn't feature).

Messi missed many games this season and it will be stupid of their fans to make him their player of the season.
Xavi, Iniesta, Bojan, Henry, Abidal and Yaya Toure should be ahead of Leo Messi on their list.
Performances and number of appearances are the factors put into consideration here.
In many games, Ronaldo goes missing and the team looks up to Rooney to conjure up a moment of brilliance.
Letz just say the way Ferguson has set Man Utd up does flatter Ronaldo more than Wazza.
This is why i think Ronaldo would struggle without the work-rates of Tevez and El Apache if he moves to Spain.

Let all march to any gathering of these political criminals and get em apprehended.
Use atomic bombs if necessary and get it over with once and for all.

Sports / Re: The Problem With Wayne Rooney! by Jackal(m): 6:42pm On Jun 26, 2008
@ Dayokanu,

By performance. . . . .

Ronaldo
Evra
Rio
Vidic
Rooney
VDS
Carrick
Brown
Hargreaves
Carrick.

Rooney is 5th on the list because he had less games than the people ahead of him.
However, if the stats are based on his work-rate and the determination to succeed, he is better than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Moreover, if we are to base the performance on the last 3 seasons, Rooney wins by an astronomical mile.

@ Mustay,

Please stop arguing and don't bury yourself in your own ignorance.
Rio Ferdinand is more suited for this project than Kanu Nwankwo: PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is not the 1st time a foreign player would go to anutha country for Charity and stuffs. . . So whats the fuss about?
Kanu should suck a straw and get his own ideas of making Nigeria better.

The player himself said he would rather play in Spain than England. . . . Barcelona is his biggest dream move. cheesy
No astute player wants to play for Chelsea. . . . .It's now 3 managers in the space of 11 months.
Where is the continuity. . . . . Every player cannot reason like Mikel Obi?
Do u understand now? See her boobs. tongue

Defenders these days are being proven to be good penalty takers, so there was nothing wrong with his selection. All the players in the team are trained in the art of penalty kicks and defenders are no exception.

But that aside, you're missing ma point. Terry is not only the captain of the team. The fecker is also the highest paid player in the PREM on 150,000 pounds a week. When duty calls, he's supposed to answer and that's what he should have done! That's what he's fecking paid for!!!!!!!!!

Being the highest paid has nuthing to do with this. . . . . .
Blimey. . . . .transfer fees are in the board room. . . . . . Real skills are on the pitch.
If it's based on wages. . . . No Arsenal player should be tucking their penalties into the net. . . They have the worst wage structure in the world.
U guys should blame Drogba's petulance and sheer irresponsibility. Leave Terry alone.

@ Presido,

presido1:

This quote says it all. Take it or leave it this how an Hausa man and Igbo man sees it. If we cannot see ourselves first as a Nigerian how then can we work together to move Nigeria forward. The only person that will tell us to stick to one Nigeria gains from our collective sorrow.

Seeing ourselves as Nigerians didn't help any cause for 38 years.
Letz try other means and see what pans out. . . . . .
First n foremost, u have to see yourself as a man, then as a Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo , then strike a chemistry in a level playing field with the people of the other parts of the country before u can think of being a Nigerian.
Until we embrace this route, Nigerians will continue to live in misery.
Sports / Re: Kanu Challenge Lagos Govt Over Rio Ferdinand's Visit To Nigeria by Jackal(m): 6:10pm On Jun 26, 2008
I don't have to read people's gibberish to form an opinion of ma own.
You must never equate Kanu's fame to Rio Ferdinand's . . . . It's a big syntax error.

Kanu is just jealous an Englishman has come to Lagos to steal his shine.
Do i blame Fashola? Nope!!! We are talking of the player that lifted the Champions League trophy with Giggsy in May.
That alone would attract major sponsors who would wanna sow into the street soccer projects.

Kanu should go and suck a straw and look for ways to bring other projects to Nigeria.
Sports / Re: Kanu Challenge Lagos Govt Over Rio Ferdinand's Visit To Nigeria by Jackal(m): 6:02pm On Jun 26, 2008
@ Mustay,

I have vowed never to argue with ignorant people like you.
Are u telling us here that Nigerian kids will not benefit from the whole street soccer project?
Ferdinand going to Nigeria alone would spark the interests of sports giants like Nike, Adidas or what not. . . .
Are u this fickle??

According to SkySports news, Andrei Arshavin's agent has refuted claims that Barcelona has placed an 18 Million pounds bid for the lad. When asked if Ashavin could play in a Premier League club next season, he gave an emphatic YES!
Who knows, we might see this young lad in a Chelsea shirt next season, especially if he gives another stellar performance tonight.

Chelsea can never get their hands on Ashavin.
Stop dreaming!!!!

I can't help it, this takes ma mind back to Moscow and also back to the Spain versus Italy game in Euro 2008. Cesc Fabregas, a young Spanish and Arsenal player was called upon by his country to take the most difficult penalty kick of the game. A penalty kick that would keep the hopes of the Millions of people in his country alive. And what did he do? He fecking scored!
Now, excuses aside, was it too much to ask for Mr. Chelsea(John Terry) to score a simple fecking penalty kick in the most important game of his clubs history? A man on 150,000 pounds a week!!!!!!!!!!

John Terry is a bloody defender. . . . . . He should never have been in top 5 penalty takers.
The decision makers in Chelsea should be blamed. . . .Terry's primary responsibility is to keep opponents from scoring goals.
He did that magnificently for 120 mins . . . . .He headed Giggsy's goal bound shot off the line even after Cech was clearly beaten.
Give this dude a break. . . . .Ronaldo also missed his penalty(He is the best player in the world). grin

Who is Kanu?
Please. . . . . . . . .never ever compare any African player as far as fame is concerned to any English player.

you didn't watch up to half of Man Utd's matches I watched. How can
I reckon with your list?

@ Ibime,

Rooney has not improved a jot since 17? We must be talking about another
Rooney here.

I mean Man Utd's Wayne Rooney. Oko Coleen. cheesy

At 17, at Everton, he was averaging less than 10 goals a season. His last
season at Everton, he scored 9 goals in 40 appearances. The least he's
scored a season since joining Man Utd is 17 a season.

2006/2007 he scored 23 goals in 55 appearances. That is almost a goal
in 2 games.

And you said he has not improved a jot. shocked

Armchair analysis don't cut it with me. tongue

Akinalabi, please don't mind this buncha idiotic plastic fans.
How many of em really watch Man Utd's games week in week out. . . . Many of em depend on the myopic analysis of goal.com.
Blimey. . . .It's nauseating how anyone with an IQ of more than 10 can come out and say Rooney has not improved since 17.

A player that was plagued by career-wrecking injuries THRICE in one season and still managed to notch 12 league goals in 28 games is not a dud.
His 12 league goals was still higher than any player in the whole of Chelsea FC so should we conclude Chelsea's strikers are overrated?
Rooney is the most influencial player in Man Utd . . . I wld rather have him playing than Ronaldo any day of the week.
Lil wonder United's best away game in the past season was at Villa Park(where Rooney was a constant menace to a ramapant Villa).

Y'all have raised interesting points and factual ones too. Needless to say that comments sparring reflects the passion we all feel on a particular subject, we should be careful not to let our fervor cloud the stakes that hold sway on this very important issue. The enormity of the matter calls for a measured solution. Therefore it behoves of us to tackle the issue in a manner consistent with balanced, rational and integrated arguments to arrive at a value opinion. Our opinion should be void of sentiments and unguided undertones lest i fear we may lose the plot or even generate an unnecessary squabble.

I surmise that in arriving at conclusions, views (however opinionated, the dereliction of our values and ethos are there for all to see.
Our over-education or lack of it has left us bereft of ideas. Nigeria is in turmoil and it is in no uncertain terms that i apportion blame on the elitist and bourgeois classes who have shone in mouth service but have always stopped short of confronting the oligarchs that have ruined the nation for decades.

Few members made a very good point about the selfishness of Nigerians, but a limit must be drawn on the amount of sacrifice anybody should make for his country especially a god-forsaken one like Nigeria. As i have often said in the past, Nigeria is laden by con men and women like no other country in the world. It even gets worse to realize that corruption is officialised to the most superlative degree in all strata of government, the private sector and society at large. Or how else can we explain the pecks voted to members of the senate and House of Representatives; or the N70 billion touted for the presidential library?

The list of misdemeanors is endless and the very thought of it nauseates me.  Nigeria is in a quagmire of some sort. Our problems are multi-faceted.
I have come to the conclusion that Nigeria will continually wither in glory and prestige at the peril of its citizens.
A country that prides itself in deceit and the lures of treachery cannot prosper.
The decimation of our values, integrity and pride as a people is all but complete with the flirtation of IBB's insinuation of a return to power.

The foundation of prosperity must be built on solid rock but in Nigeria's case, I fear it is built on swampy lakes. How can you explain how men like OBJ ruled over 150 million people? A man who has little ounce (if any) of respect for his fellow Nigerians should never sniff the highest seat of power even in a republic. A civilian president who rules by diktat is simply deplorable and scandalous. A degenerate of a man who dares to manipulate an enthroned governor by some gangs of low-life thugs is at best criminal but pitiable too and imagined only to a level of absurdity.

What a rape of democracy! And you say 419 is the bane of our problem.
Let it be known that truth and knowledge cannot and should never be substituted for falsehood and ignorance.
We are a country destined for doom; for good or for bad in obedience to the natural law of retributive justice.

@  WesleyanA .

On denigerianizing  . . . . .

I am not one of those Nigerians in the Diaspora who is sunk to depths of denial about his country.
Borders are imaginary and Nigeria is just a mere geographical expression that could have ended south of the Niger or even further north of Sokoto and Borno states. So i see myself first as a Yoruba man before a Nigerian. Nigeria, die and let live.
That I don't digress and begin to oscillate between the issue at hand and my philosophies, i'll rest my thoughts here.
Unfortunately, the Nigeria we know is not one we are proud to show anybody.

This is a very denigrating and goofy remark on single mothers. So marrying a single mother is settling for less? Who knocked them up in the first place? I hope you feel the same way if a woman rejects you because you are a single father.
