Granted but when commercial production is given free reins, I can easily forecast a worse drug epidemic because we have lacking resources on control.

There are many other valuable cash crops we produce but our export is still weak not due to production but bureaucratic bottle necks leading to higher rates of circumvention (e. g. smuggling). With cannabis, it won't be long until we have cartels controlling territories and matter of cultism will become a joke in comparison.

Weed is also a gateway drug to it's bigger brothers (Heroin and Fentanyl)
Cannabis poses the greatest medical risk to any population when it is illegal, because its cultivation and sale rests in the amoral hands of criminal syndicates who commonly sell dangerously addictive synthetic (fake) cannabis, in place of organically cultivated cannabis, while drug traffickers also spray weak varieties of cannabis with an assortment of toxic chemicals to increase potency while sneaking in the risk of inducing insanity or sudden death among unsuspecting stoners.

Once cannabis cultivation is legalized but not exorbitantly taxed by the government, the incentive to sell cannabis for criminals will vanish with a stroke of the pen by government officials. Retaining the current jail sentence recommendations in Nigeria's lawbooks as they apply to SELLERS of cannabis, while eliminating the penalties prescribed for cultivation and possession of cannabis by Nigerian citizens aged 25-year-old and above, would be a workable modification of existing Nigerian cannabis laws.

Allowing Nigerian citizens the legal right to grow cannabis for their personal consumption will liberate the nation's millions of clandestine cannabis users to grow small numbers of plants for consumption as their personal marijuana supply without their ever having to source their weed from criminal drug dealers who currently use a variety of chemicals to adulterate cannabis so it becomes toxic and addictive.

Concurrently to the elimination of criminal participation incentives from marijuana sales, the legalization of cannabis will bring about the emergence of an entirely new and highly lucrative agricultural sector industry that will create thousands of new jobs , even as foreign investment will cascade into government coffers as well as into regional economies.

Finally, Ogawa LiveWire, your point about the dangers of opiate addiction is well taken, but only in the sense that cannabis dealers are now tainting black market cannabis with Fentanyl and other poisons, which thus turns harmless cannabis into a deadly one-dose killer drug. The overwhelming majority of long-term cannabis users would never touch any other drug, while many stoners, myself inclusive, cannot stand the smell of burning cigarette tobacco, and rarely if ever touch alcohol, talk less consider partaking of any known killer drugs like cocaine, heroin, PCP, and a host of other "white powder" addictive poisons. The suggestion that cannabis use leads to narcotics abuse is not borne out with verifiable facts.

Why don't you advise your people to go to these "other countries" and cultivate all the marijuana they want?
Ghana's economy is enjoying a massive boost due to that nation's wise legalization of cannabis strains that are required by law to be high in CBD and low in THC. Ghana's government collects significant tax income from licensed cannabis industries operating farms and processing plants in Ghana, while the fledgling cannabis industries are recording bumper sales figures. West Africa's climate and rain patterns are God's gift to the cannabis grower, in that THREE growing seasons are possible per year, without the need for investment in costly indoor cultivation facilities, as are standard in the temperate climates of Europe, Canada and other the UK, for example.

Newly legalized cannabis industries thrive in Lesotho, South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Uganda, to name but a few out of the 9 African nations that have legalized cannabis in recognition of its multitude of medicinal values, and in so doing stand to reap gigantic profits in US dollars over the coming years.

Below is the list of NINE African countries that have legalized cannabis, also showing the legal CONDITIONS imposed on cannabis production. This table is copied from the link above.

S/N African country Legislation Status
1 Malawi Legalized officially for industrial, medical use and export. Recreational use is prohibited.
2 Zambia Legalized officially for export and medicinal purposes. Recreational use is prohibited.
3 South Africa Medical and recreational use of cannabis are legal (officially).
4 Zimbabwe Legalized officially for medical use and not recreational use.
5 Lesotho Legalized officially for medical use and export. Recreational use is prohibited.
6 Ghana Prohibited for recreational use but legal for medical and industrial purposes.
7 Morocco Prohibited for recreational use but legal for medical and industrial purposes
8 Rwanda Legalized medical cannabis for export and medical use
9 Uganda Legalized solely for exports.

When the lawmen showed up to destroy the crop, it was not yet ripe because there are no flowers visible yet. While the cannabis leaves do contain the active ingredient THC, it is the flowers that contain the highest concentrations of THC and in some strains, of CBD, that beneficial, non-psychoactive component of the plant.

Nigeria should be making good money from it's export, instead of this waste.
Five years ago in 2020, when a Nigerian legislator tried her best to get cannabis laws repealed, I started a thread on this very subject, in the hopes that Nigeria would soon join the league of enlightened nations who are reaping billions of dollars from cannabis cultivation.

https://www.nairaland.com/5791388/legal-cannabis-nigeria-create-many

One can only hope that if commercial production of cannabis is not made legal in Nigeria, laws should be amended so it would at least be legally permissible for people to grow their own cannabis for personal consumption but NOT for sale. This way the same penalties can be retained for selling cannabis while the entire adult population would be granted the freedom to plant their personal supply and therefore avoid buying cannabis that has been poisoned with chemicals, or even non-cannabis vegetative matter sprayed with highly addictive and health destroying synthetic TCH.

Well, it is going to be a tough one to start medical cannabis. Na big man's game....and Most of these guys doing it presently aren't big to that stage. And I believe they won't want to do the CBD aspect. Because the guidelines are too strict, pharmaceutical behemoths and extremely wealthy individuals can pull it off. N200m maynot be able to fully set up some acre with all the securities and proper monitoring needed. I don't even N500m can.

Anyway, it is well.
You've made a sobering point, namely that it might turn out to be that only corporations and individuals with deep pockets that would benefit from a newly legalized cannabis industry in Nigeria.

Ironically, the scenario you describe is why even in California where cannabis is legal, enormous infrastructural costs must be paid in advance by anyone seeking to cultivate cannabis for profit, while those who do come up with the cash to start such cultivation, are taxed so heavily as to make the venture a losing endeavor or a break-even business at best. For these reasons, illegal weed farms did not go away in California, even when cannabis was legalized for both medicinal and recreational end-use.

One can only hope that Nigeria does not follow the California model if and when the enormous financial promise of legal cannabis is recognized by the federal government.

That dereliction of common sense life-enhancing exercise is not only observed in women but also in Nigerian men. Survey any crowd of Nigerians who are wealthy or at least middle class, and you will notice at least 80% of individuals of both genders, will sport that trademark massive and wobbly beer gut that is STILL misconstrued by a sad majority as a sign of "prosperity".

I find it very difficult to believe that in the 21st century there is a government agency on cannabis. Other countries are harnessing the benefits of cannabis why the black man is demonizing it
It really is heartbreaking to contemplate those billions of dollars in revenue that Nigeria could accrue simply by legalizing and TAXING cannabis cultivation for medical export, just as is now done in Lesotho, South Africa, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and now, Ghana, attracting vast sums in international investment literally overnight.

On this subject dealing with the demise of man pikin during heated and frantic exchanges of carnal knowledge, I would like to conduct an informal survey of Nairaland's readership regarding the manner of departure they would chose if it were possible to select a manner of one's own death from a menu.

So, cutting to the chase, kindly indicate which manner of death you would select if it were possible to stipulate such a preference ahead of time.

1. Death by plane crash
2. Death by car crash while trying to outrun armed robbers in a car behind you.
3. Death during a drunken fight in front of a palm wine and whiskey parlor.
4. Death by accidental police rifle discharge when you forgot to hand over some "ting" at the police checkpoint "for the weekend"
5. Death from over-eating because you equated gluttony with prosperity.
6. Death from frailty at old age
7. Death by cardiac arrest while vigorously servicing a 22-year-old woman blessed with a luscious physique that could awaken the dead.

Results of this poll will be tabulated in detail when the official White Paper investigative findings is published and released to the world press.
Travel › From Okada Motorcycle Taxi Operator, To Four-bar Airline Captain Callistus by Jakumo(op):
While traveling the virtual skies aboard YouTube's magic carpet, I stumbled on the YouTube channel operated by Pidgin English speaking ndiigbo airline Captain Callistus, who flies for a major Nigerian airline, while also offering humorous but highly informative aviation explications and anecdotes, ALL of which are narrated by Captain Callistus in the fluent Pidgin English (Brokenese) dialect that any motorcycle taxi passenger would expect to hear from the bike operator, bearing in mind too, that Captain Callistus once was a taxi motorbike man eking out a living below the poverty line.

Today I watched the following video clip in which Captain Callistus casts his mind back to his days as a poverty stricken Okada (motorcycle taxi) operator who nursed a dream to beat the odds and reach for the skies, which he eventually did as narrated in his own words below, all spoken in the approachable, affable, and relatable West African Pidgin English dialect easily understood by most and envied by all.

For anyone interested in an aviation career, the remarkable life story of Captain Callistus, along with numerous videos explaining aircraft systems and aviation theory, can be found in the man's YouTube channel linked below.

Nigeria's comparatively young democratic institutions stand on the undulating rubble of past military dictatorships, meaning that while freedom of speech is assured in Nigeria, freedom after speech does not enjoy the same protections, and may even trigger invocation of the Golden Rule whereby he who has the gold, makes the rules.

While Nigeria's online pundits' freedom to offer constructive criticism to the current Nigerian federal or state government has been diligently preserved, that right to free speech has been repeatedly abused by perennial gadfly Mr. Sowore, who comes across as a particularly arrogant and belligerent character in several YouTube videos filmed and posted online by Sowore himself.

If Sowore's most recent publicity stunt eventually earns him some months of quality time in a cozy jail cell, perhaps the peace and quiet of that new accommodation will enable Town Crier Sowore to reflect on the utter futility of showing up for a gunfight wielding a rolled-up newspaper, which is what he is doing when he makes a career of concocting unfounded allegations against powerful individuals connected to successive governments in the same country.

They have bought up almost 30 % of the estate I live in ,in less than 10 years.

They pull down Massive duplexes that have been there for decades and build block of flats that are almost touching each other.

You're now more likely to see Chinese, then Indians strolling on.sunday evenings or walking weekday mornings, than Nigerians. They have driven up the price of properties. Its scary.
China's population of billions is overflowing in their homeland so they are buying up countries far away from China, one square mile at a time, to create "Greater China".

In 15 years from today in 2025, and if the Angola treatment is not meted out to the Chinese all over the world, they will own the entire planet, and then proceed to wreak comprehensive devastation by deforesting and mining with toxic chemicals to their heart's content.

China owns Eritrea militarily right now. In that nation, anyone seeking work in the vast number of Chinese owned industries, will be FORCED to sing praise songs for the Chinese Communist Party every morning, just as is done in China. In Eritrea, there is a massive Chinese military base that houses thousands of battle ready ethnic Chinese troops ready to decisively neutralize any Africans that dare try to interfere with that armed occupation. In West Africa, it is Ghana that is already a de-facto Chinese colony, and in that country, ancient hardwood tropical rainforests are being voraciously consumed and reduced to barren, charred wastelands by Chinese timber exporters who have bought the government there lock, stock and barrel.

How on earth did China become the cause of Americans' relationship with E-smoke? American youth, especially those who have non-East Asian ancestry have a cultural problem.
A full 95% of the global supply of that powerful synthetic opiate called Fentanyl that kills thousands of Americans every year, is produced in China. They Chinese have devised devious ways of smuggling Fentanyl into the USA so that the mass extermination of Americans can continue uninterrupted. Fentanyl, 50 times more potent than heroin, is killing off an entire generation of Americans, while Chinese drug smugglers cackle with glee over the blood money they amass while selling cheap overdose deaths to the American public.

The destruction to rivers, forests and farm crops wrought by mostly illegal Chinese miners in Ghana, Gambia, and Senegal, Cameroons and Congo among many African nations, stands as sobering testimony to the amoral and nihilistic character of Chinese nationals who lay waste in utter ruination our planet's environment with industrial-scale deforestation paired with rampant air, soil and water pollution.

By offering loans for ultimately wasteful white elephant projects WORLDWIDE, China seeks to leverage unpaid loans into a systematic process of land grabs on every continent comprising our fragile planet. Once those forcibly and dubiously annexed lands are the property of China, there is no further impediment to their plunder of all mineral and natural resources by China, leaving ravaged wasteland in its wake.

The Chinese are not giving out those loans for charity. In the terms and conditions of such loans, the Chinese insert clauses that allow them to take over ownership of LAND in countries outside China, thereby becoming stake-holders by force, in many countries whose leaders are either too greedy or too ignorant to know what the Chinese end-game is for countries that default o their loans.

The UK's population includes a vast number of blacks and Asians who were born in the UK, and whose parents were born there. Those blacks, many of who bear Nigerian surnames, are as British as the Anglo Saxon whites of Nordic descent with whom they school, work and intermarry.

When an American-style demonization of anyone that looks "foreign" starts to go mainstream in the UK, blacks and Asians who know of no other home than Britain, will find themselves being declared public enemies just as is already preached online by extreme right-wing and Neo-Nazi hate groups.

That said, religious fanatics swarming into the UK from theocratic failed nations must never be allowed to introduce their intolerance, archaic dress codes and arbitrary "judicial" systems to ANY secular democracy such as the UK. Any religious fundamentalists seeking to impose their non-Christian way of life on anyone else in the UK, or who create noise pollution with their forms of religious observance, deserve to be booted out of the UK and BACK to their countries of origin. In this sense, I wholeheartedly agree that the UK must safeguard its culture against the threat of non-British cult followers who as immigrants arrogate themselves the right to try and rock the boat in their adopted homelands.

Elon is fanning the flames of Xenophobia.

People abroad should start having a second plan. All across Europe and the US, the hate is being fueled by notable figures and influencers.
Compared to most states in the USA, British race relations have been cordial over the years, despite occasional flare-ups like the Brixton Riots years ago. Inter-racial dating, for example, barely raises an eyebrow in the UK, whereas in some parts of the USA, a wise black man will know where NOT to socialize in the company of his white girlfriend or wife.

In the UK it is not unusual for a group of work colleagues or friends to comprise individuals whose racial lineages trace to all our planet's continents, unlike in America where a de-facto segregation of the races exists in every aspect of life from school districts, to radio station audiences, to shopping malls, and to the natural groupings of students in high school and college.

It is therefore dismaying to see billionaire campaign-donor Elon Musk urging the British right wing to overthrow their elected leaders so that the type totalitarianism currently materializing in the USA can take hold in the UK. The influence of such a powerful and wealthy man as Elon Musk should be a matter of grave concern for all whose skin color is any shade of brown, even if the last few generations of their family were born in the UK.

Thanks to Elon Must, American Tyrant Donald Trump won the last presidential election in the USA, so the likelihood is high that Elon Musk will pour millions of dollars to support the most virulently right wing political rabble rouser he can find, when the next elections to elect a Prime Minister take place in the UK.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Secures $60 Billion Dollar Chinese Bullet Train Deal (Video) by Jakumo(m):
The greatest danger that would face ANY railway project in countries like Nigeria where terrorism is endemic, is the derailing of trains by terrorists, as occurred a number of months ago in Northern Nigeria, in an incident that witnessed multiple kidnappings, gunshot injuries and deaths.

The Achilles heel of any rail system is those vulnerable railroad tracks that stretch for hundreds of miles traversing desolate landscapes which cannot be policed continuously. Any amateur terrorist with a quantity of explosives no bigger than a cigarette pack, can utterly destroy railway lines, and thus Immobilize all trains that ply those tracks.

Once a train ha been derailed, all the freight cars or passenger cars of that train will be at the mercy of the bandits or kidnappers that cut the rails. Train robberies were a fixture of America's Old West, when horses were the primary mode of transport and the Six Gun WAS the law. Fast forward a few hundred years and Nigeria is now the Wild West of Africa, where bandits ride motorized horses and wield Kalashnikov rifles rather than Six-Guns.

Before any railway project can be trusted by the public in Nigeria, the terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping plague that besets the entire nation MUST be addressed militarily. In practical terms, all funding earmarked for this latest railway project should instead be used to purchase FLEETS of surveillance and ground-attack drones for the purpose of declaring a full-scale war on terror/kidnapping gangs, obliterating them the instant they gather preparatory to any mission of destruction.

Mr. Jakumo Sir, just as you pointed out, can you please help me/us ask your client why she kept mute when the Presser hand was all over her Bum bum even from under and the sides and she only complained when the intrusion was momentarily stopped when a passenger needed to alight?

Did she complain because the intensity of the press was reduced or that the hands were no longer coming under?

And why would some one as boisterous as the voice I heard in that video kept mute when her privacy was savagely assaulted?

Why? The thinking is not thinking with me, I may be wrong in my assumptions though.
You have highlighted some important considerations, my learned colleague Lukuluku69, but I must caution the general public to avoid drawing hasty conclusions about why the woman allowed the yansh presssing offence to continue for an unspecified length of time.

I hypothesize that in allowing the yansh pressing to continue despite being fully aware that it was occurring for a good long time, my lady client was NOT enjoying the experience, whether mentally or physically, but was merely gathering sensory evidence of the crime in progress that would ensure that a solid case could be established before the presiding judge in the court of law.

An analogy of this evidence-gathering modality would be when police officers smoke 50% of the confiscated Canada-imported weed they have locked up in the evidence room, purely as a means of quantifying the potency and flavor of the exhibits, so that their crime reports could be completed to the court's satisfaction.

The man is in all shades of wrong but na where Madam wan follow the man go after he was pressing her Nyansh?

Somebody enlighten me o
This is a good question, my brother. As the woman's self-appointed lawyer, let me clarify for our readers that the woman asked the presser of her yansh , also known in Brokenese dialect has her "bum-bom", to alight from the vehicle in shame, so that he could accompany his innocent victim to the nearest police station where the culprit would have been instructed to press the yansh in the presence of stern-faced investigating police officers, who would then duly record the re-enacted offence to tender in court as culpable evidence against the accused yansh presser.

For any detectives in the house, kindly note that the victim of this unauthorized yansh pressing mentioned that she was aware of "something moving" under her yansh for a period of time during her journey aboard that vehicle, before she discovered that the "moving thing" was the culprit's hand and not an escaped tortoise that was clawing at her yansh for a long time before the legitimate owner of the yansh raised the alarm.

These are the only facts that can be shared with the readership at the moment, but there is no cause for alarm because this unrepentant yansh presser will, at the conclusion of all investigations, bear the full legal repercussions of his criminal act, to serve as a deterrent to all other potential yansh pressers who may derive inspiration from this video clip and thus be tempted to embark on a yansh pressing spree.

God breast Nigeria.
