Politics / Re: Niger Bans Bulk Sale Of Food Items, Orders Confiscation Of Trucks Carrying Food by jalaludeen1(m): 12:26pm On Feb 10
ivolt:

Nope, it is a dumb move.
Niger does not farm for for its residents alone.
If he succeeds in artificially forcing down price of goods within Niger,
some farmers will incur losses.
The next farming season would even be worse as many farmers lose their incentive to farm.

The farmers are not losing anything, the farmers have long sold their farm produce to the middle men who are just hording the foods to create artificial scarcity. Last year the farmers sold a bag of maze for 17 to 21k, only for the middle men to sale it for 43 to 50k without doing anything to improve the production. The governor knows what he is doing in my opinion

Is like you are not a Nigerian? Don't you read on Nairaland here where people are being killed just to avoid paying back? Don't you ever give credit of money you can't forfeit, you may regret it. There was this guy that use to borrow 1k to 2k from my work place and pay back after receiving salary he was an IT student and I didn't know. When he was about to leave he ask for 30k and I gave him 4k. Till today its more than 3 years now he didn't payback

Politics / Re: Which Parts Of The North Are Christian - Dominated? by jalaludeen1(m): 11:15pm On May 14, 2023
This is the kind of tread that made Peter Obi to use religion to campaign and eventually led to his failure. Christian population in the North is over estimated in this tread, especially in Nasarawa, kwara, kogi and Niger. I am from Niger but I just laugh when someone say Niger is 50/50 Muslims and Christian population.
Politics / Re: Peter Obi Reacts To Audio Scandal, Says He Is Not A Religious Or Tribal Bigot by jalaludeen1(m): 1:30pm On May 02, 2023
emkz:
Peter Obi is a standard for mediocrity.

(1) He claimed he was only invited by the UK immigration to be told his identity was duplicated. Why did he leak a story that was apparently a routine security threat to make it seem as if APC was trying to frame him? Remember the initial leak came from someone who had served as a commissioner under him.

(2) He blamed Lai Mohammed for going to the US to accuse him of treason. Same Obi went to USA and Canada to campaign to people without PVCs. He is okay to travel for stupid reasons, but Lai is not?

(3) He initially claimed the audio between himself and Oyedepo was doctored and fake. Now he is insinuating the audio happened, but he never said "religious war". Same man said he would sue the media house that leaked the audio, and he hasn't. Kenneth Okonkwo was suspended for a month for confirming the audio between Obi and Oyedepo.

(4) Obi tried to pander to Christian voters and was roundly beaten for it as core Muslim states in the North and conservative Yoruba states voted massively against him. He denies being a religious bigot.

(5) Is it not insanity that a man who performed woefully in Anambra State is now seen as the person to rescue Nigeria?

(6) Is it not disturbing that the greatest importer of consumer goods through his Next superstores is now the one who is promising to move Nigeria from consumption to production? How many factories did he build as governor?

(7) Is it not shameful that a person who wanted to lead Nigeria was too naive administratively to set up his own situation room to collate election results that his party foolishly relied on INEC, used social media to collate results and are relying on PDP to state that he got over a million votes in Lagos? Is it not naive for him to believe he won the election from 3rd position? Is it not insane that he accused Tinubu of not being validly elected because he did not win Abuja, whereas he did not even win majority of the votes nor did he even win two-thirds of 36 states and Abuja.

My sincere advise to Peter Obi is to be man enough and own his narrative. Buhari was called an Islamist, he never denied it, nor did he confirm it. Atiku played ethnic politics by calling on Northerners to vote for him and never denied it. Tinubu shouted that it was the turn of Yorubas and he was the arrowhead of Yorubas, and he never denied it. The other candidates demonstrated courage, which is what Peter Obi lacks and is shameless about it.

Finally to his supporters who are champions of mediocrity. You were fixated on the Presidency and forgot there were more than 1462 elective positions in Nigeria. If the blunder of Obi had bedeviled Nigeria, how would he have run the country without control of the National Assembly and states? You people were too naive and approached the elections like amateurs. Buhari's CPC went allout in 2011 and won one state, i.e., Nasarawa and locked the entire North. By that action, he proved he was a formidable force and those who wanted power teamed up with him and gave him the additional 3 million votes that removed the PDP.

You people have not won a state, a seat to even test your abilities, but you were so convinced you could install a President. What the hell were you thinking? Is Nigeria Presidency that cheap for you to walk over?

Tinubu defeated your Obi. You can choose not to accept it, but you must respect it. You were not prepared to win. You were to confident that you would.
Your head get oil.

Nigeria is heavily divided along religious, tribal and ideological lines

Its a country that has never, and can be united. We are just together for the sake of being together, not that being together will ever achieve anything

The country should have broken up a long time ago

Dividing this country is never the solution. If we continue with this attitude and for example this country is divided in to three or more regions there will still be a clamour for it divided along ethnic line, and then religious line, community, and even household. The earlier we accept our diversity the better for all of us

The 2023 presidential elections have come and gone. Now is time for stock taking. As for me, I still insist that labour party and her presidential candidate, peter obi didn't not actually take up the golden opportunity presented to them fully. With 3 strong presidential candidates from the opposite side all trying to share the votes from the opposite side, it should have been a walk over for the labour party , had they tried their best to pull all their side's votes together. Peter obi only needed to have appealed to all the nation's christians to vote him, being the only christian among the four major contenders. But alas, peter obi and the labour party failed to convince all the nation's christians well as many of them still didn't come out to vote or voted for the likes of Atiku and Tinubu. Peter obi and the labour party must know that opportunities like this are scarce to come by and may never come their way again

He did campaign and lobby for christians vote, he even went as far has declaring religious war but this is as far he can go with such campaign. More than 90% of the christians voted for him.

kilonshele101:

Why don't you find a learned Muslim or even a northerner and ask questions, engage him/her intellectually and validate your discussion and hypothesis with historical and factual knowledge. It's better than forming an armchair conspiracy theorist and engaging in a worthless insulting contest on Nairaland.

I'm a southerner (a Yoruba to be precise) raised by Christian parents, from a family where you can find people of both faith

Growing up in a society where religiosity has never been a tool of division, and an academic background in psychology, Seeing people especially both the east and north Using religion as means to attack, abuse and insult each other really disgusts me.

Out of hatred and intolerance for each other, they misperceive and add unnecessary meaning to event as they appear.

What you're doing is no exception, I see no reason why a sane Christian should be feeling insecure about anything that has to do with Muslims and their ways. Likewise Muslim involving themselves in Christian matters.

You're claiming to be learned be you forgot that some northerners prefer to learn Arabic in their modrasat than going to school. And it seems You still don't know what Ajami means. Ajami is Arabic style and you read Ajami exactly the same way you read Arabic (same rule, same structure) it's just that what you read is Hausa. Every Hausa who can speak Hausa and read Arabic can understand Ajami perfectly and read it even without going to school. But your insensitivity is blinding you to understand their peculiarities. Those that are not opportune to be able to read in Roman style like you are less human and irrelevant right??

A society where they value their religious and culturally morality are destroying alcoholic drink because it's seen as immoral for their people. But people like you are always quick to tell them that Nigeria is a secular state and their actions is affecting the economy. But a denomination of Christian that banned wearing of footwear for their members is not affecting the economy. And a denomination of Christian that sees television as an instrument that can be used by devil in a secular state is good and it's not affecting the electronics industry. And the denomination of Christian that banned the use earring , necklace ,chain , cosmetic and some accessories in a secular state not affecting the economy. My sister wasn't free to choose the type of dress she's to wear on her own wedding day, a lot of my parents plans were cancelled by the church wedding committee, I couldn't invite my own friends who vowed to drink 5 bottles Hennessey to my sister's wedding because the church wedding committee won't allow that in a secular nation where everyone has freedom of choice. But not a single family or friends to my family who is a Muslim complained or felt insecure. But fact checkers like you won't see anything wrong in that. But the Muslims don't have right to set out an organized laws for their members ONLY because Nigeria is a secular state. I guess you don't know the meaning of a secular State.

Because a religion (islam) kicked against all sort of immorality (at least that's what they claim they are doing) in accordance with their religious law but you see them as primitive 12th century people because the 21th century is all about going to churches with indecent dresses, smoking weed and drinking alcoholic inside churches, public celebration of pre martial sex etc. I'm sure the devil (if actually exist) will be laughing at you.

Extremist Muslims harming others in the name of religion is bad and condemnable, but it's acceptable for Christians to abuse Islam, call it a blood sucking cult, founded by a rapist Arabian in collaboration with an evil spirit.

I saw you saying you hate violence, wickedness and hypocrisy, I think I will put you on my watchlist. We read on Christian thread every Sunday without a single hate comment from Muslims, but on Fridays the total number of hate comments by Christians on Muslim threads is disgraceful. And I have never seen you condemning one. I tasked you to observe closely this coming Friday and Sunday.

Every time I see a thread about a pastor who was caught with an immoral act, the first thing I will check is if any Muslim would blame Christianity. But what you will see is people condemning the the PERSON not the RELIGION. But if it's on the contrary you see how fellow Christians will be attacking Islam as whole, blaming the RELIGION not the PERSON.
I tasked you to be observing henceforth.
If you're hating on a religion for hypocrisy I think you should be hating yours too unless if you're an hypocrite yourself.

And I'm yet to see how they are forcing their religion on us. Unless if you're talking about the activities of boko haram and Fulani herdmen.

This is the best comment I have read so far on naraland through out the week, I didn't know there are still sensible people who reason like this on this forum

bigpriik:
1)no one agitation for them
countries are born as a result of war or long years of agitation ,at the moment no one is agitating for a middle belt or niger delta, the truth is they would be swallowed up in hegemny of bigger ethnic nation.unlike oduduwa and biafra who have international awareness and recognition of recent there is no such thing as the above done for the former.the groups have plans and even constitutions, where do minorities want to stArt fro

2)they are not united and multiethnic
organising a multiethnic nation is not an easy task who will lead who?what does an ijaw man have in common with an efik man or anioma man?hpw will they agree on economic and political matters?

3)they are literally running away from their shadows
southsouth and middlebelt minorities are running away from igbos and arewas ,they forget to ask themself if we eventually become a nation the largest groups like the ijaws and jukuns eventually becomes the majority in the new country ,then what is the difference.

personally i dont see nigeria splitting into more than two or three countries.
Truly what difference will it make when they are comprised of different ethnic groups already.
