OP. If you are looking for fragrances with excellent longevity, try Montale- black oud and serge luten- chergui (they are very expensive, I have to warn you) for the reasonably priced alternatives. . . joop and Thiery Mugler- angel men. good luck |

That one na nonsense.
You can't be serious. how can a bad performance at the biggest football competition in the world not affect a players market value?
That is because we have had the worst midfielders in the top 4 in the last 2 seasons. Fergie realized this and played 5 midfielders to combat this issue. . . The injury of Hargo exposed United's midfield. United need a free-scoring midfielder next season otherwise it might be disastrous for Fergie.
You can have quality creative midfielders but at the end of the day, a quality striker like Rooney is still essential to put the chances away you can not entrust such a weighted responsibility on a toothless player like berbatov and an unproven young talent.
The team isn't built round Berbatov. . . . .The chances people talk about are difficult chances that Rooney misses regularly but you rarely see him crucified for it by the British media. Get 2 creative midfielders behind Berbatov, players who don't hoof senseless long balls to him, players who can guide the ball perfectly into Berba's strides and watch him flourish in that role. Berbatov's main problem is he doesn't fit into the calibre of players we have in abundance.
You are requesting for the manager to alter the current system in order to harness a SINGLE players potential. wouldn't that contradict the popular belief around the united fold that footie is a collective effort. perhaps, it's only sensible for a team to take such a radical approach in the name of a worthy player who can more or less guarantee that the changed system will produce far greater positive result rather than bite the manager in the a**
Fergie's teams rarely lack goals. When Ruud was sold, i had the same fear but his team scored more goals than when Ruud was around. Same was feared when Ronaldo left. . . . . . I doubt the trend would change if we sell Rooney.
What's the guarantee that the trend wouldn't change. At least united had a competent replacement in Rooney when Ruud left, what player in the current squad can you rely on to take over from Rooney IF he leaves |
He's ma favourite United player and i wish United could sell Rooney for two world class creative midfielders(Sneijder + Iniesta) Berbatov + Hernandez look a promising combo upfront. . . . .
Is it safe to conclude that you are on the verge of losing it ![]() Sell your best striker/player to acquire the services of two WC playmakers. . . . Sneijder and Iniesta are wpoty candidate and Rooney's abysmal world cup outing would have in fact negatively affected his market value. which means you can't generate enough finances from selling Rooney. . . . . . . . . . . besides that, berbatov has proven over the last two season to be a major flop and has totally forgotten his primary role and responsibility as a striker is to score goals even when presented with many tantalizing opportunities. Hernandez on the other hand, is an up and coming starlet whose quality is still relatively unproven. whether he can come in and produce the goods in his FIRST season in the EPL, is the question. Selling Rooney would be a BIG mistake, . . where will the goals come from. |
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Your determination to never back down from a position you strongly believe in is peerless you have been on Berbatov's defense for almost a year now. |
Great game. I was particularly impressed by Josh McEachran . . . seems a promising young talent, very skillful and comfortable on the ball What's the news/rumour about chelsea chasing an injury prone Torres, I'm struggling to make sense of the situation. I hope the deal never happens. |

Ibime:GBAM. When I raised the issue of zidane being overrated a few months back, some resident retards and nincompoop nearly chopped my head off I don't neccesarily follow the crowd/media when it comes to footie or any other issue for that matter, I basically make my own informed judgement |
dayokanu:Ronaldo. . . 1994-1996 at PSV scored 42 goals in 46 app it's important to note that this was at a period when eredivisie had substance and was well recognized worldwide dayokanu:He was injured in that period, you can only judge a player based on his output on the pitch We are comparing players at their peak btw, only a doofus would even attempt to make such a comparison dayokanu:My conclusion is that Ronaldo, in his prime, was head and shoulders above every other striker that ever played the game and as a result renders your comparison absolutely useless. which leads me to the final conclusion that you are an irredeemable camel ![]() |

This debate has gone to the gutters. . . . Dayokanu has managed to turn this debate on it's head to mask his grade A idiocy.
na mukinatu's ![]() |
dayokanu:No they were not. Ronaldo shone from 1994-2003. injury kept him out of footie for two years in that period. (9-2=7) meaning he shone for 7 years while Henry and Ruud reign only lasted for 6 years. besides Luiz Ronaldo's abilities and level of performance, on a consistent basis, was second to none. I don't get how you reason sometimes. |
You cannot compare a central midfielder to an attacking midfielder Zidane and Xavi play (ed) different roles for their respective teams. One thing I will however agree on with ibime and sauron is Xavi is more consistent player than Zidane. that's for sure. . . winning WPOTY/EPOTY shouldn't be based solely on shining in some/few big games. "as with every award, there's always some flaws and inconsistency". that Xavi hasn't won as many individual award as Zidane, in my opinion is not an accurate parameter for assessing their brilliance. PERIOD. for example, Kaka cannot be said to be better than Dennis Bergkamp, Gascoigne, Riquelme et al on the basis of winning more important individual awards (WPOTY,EPOTY). |
Mourinho simply parked the bus and Ibrahimovic was useless. . . . Until he was subbed and Piquenbauer was pushed upfront, Barca had nothing going for them upfront. Germany parked the bus and were hoping to hit Spain with counter-attacks. It's very difficult to play teams that put 9 players behind the ball every time - It makes me sick that football has now gone to the sewers. Ozil was schooled by a more technical and positionally disciplined player, Busquets. Busquets broke down the play and played simple 5-10 yard passes to Iniesta, Xabi and Xavi and i am a fan of Busquets when Spain don't have the ball. That dude knows how to PRESS. Ozil and co should learn from him. I am getting fed up of one route football. Why can't other teams develop their youth players to play the Spanish way. Simple tiki taka. . . . .Appreciation of time and space and the weight of the passes to keep things running smoothly. Seriously, we should give Spain their credits. They did not relent or change their philosophy even when they were trailing against Switzerland. They kept passing the ball, looking for openings and there was no hue of anti-football throughout. I am glad Football won in the end. Holland and Germany were not good enough to win the World Cup. VIVA ESPANA!!!!
You are not alone on the bolded I have missed those days when you could always bet on fixtures such as Brazil vs Holland to produce a spectacle sadly those days are virtually over. nowadays, watching paintings on the wall can be more entertaining than some/most football matches |
I'm rooting for spain to win this one. I can't believe D.Silva has only started for spain once in this tourney . . . that's what happens when a country is packed with too many talents. |
mikeansy:BLASPHEMY |
Isn't the answer obvious. . . . of course, Federer is the better player |
Remii:Against what opponents? Even david villa will score 800 goals per 100 games in shitty leagues (brazil and MLS) where pele spent his career. would he have scored that many goals in the serie A and la liga where maradona proved himself amongst other great players BTW, his total goal tally includes goals scored in exhibition matches as well. |
Cannavaro is not 100%. . . . . . . Weah won WPOTY + EPOTY + APOTY. . . . . . .3 grandslam awards. Cannavaro won just 2 grandslam awards. There's a universe of difference between the two. Maldini is a legend. . . . .His shirt number in Milan has been retired. No other player will wear 3 for AC Milan till Jesus comes. U cannot compare Cannavaro to a legend like that. It's different from Etoo/Weah.
An european player can only win 2 awards. The WPOTY and EPOTY. only players from other continent can win more than 2 that's besides the point. let's make this clearly as it's obvious that you are unusually slow today My stance is. Etoo is better than Weah Maldini and Baresi are better than cannavaro (are we clear on that) If you quite rightly agree that Maldini is better than Cannavaro despite the fact that Cannavaro is a former WPOTY and EPOTY then why should your rather sentimental criteria of deciding the better player between etoo and weah, be based on WPOTY and EPOTY achievement when the same logic does not apply to Maldini and cannavaro. I'm seriously lost. |
Consistency is bullshyte. . . . . My 100% still shytes on your zillion attempts - and that's the KEY.
According to your line of reasoning Weah's WPOTY,EPOTY = 100% (A feat that has never been achieved by etoo) Cannavaro=WPOTY+EPOTY=100% (A feat that hasn't been achieved by maldini and baresi) therefore making weah better than etoo and cannavaro better than the latter two SMH |

They both won world cups. . . .AC Milan are a better side than Juventus so Canna might be short on medals plus Maldini had an outstanding career by playing till age 40. U gotta be daft to even start comparing the two. . . . . .Why not compare Bellamy to Ryan Giggs? Anuofia!!!!
Are you seriously this daft, show me where I implied Cannavaro is on the same level as Maldini Your post below is what I responded to . . . . I have simply used your logic against you . . . . i.e weah is not better than eto'o simply because he won WPOTY If you still fail to see the connection then I cannot help you.
Weah won all the relevant individual awards in 1995 - something no African player has achieved and you still insist Etoo is the best.
|
Just like the way APOTY is filled with politics. Okocha was a better player than Etoo in 2004 ANC but Issa Hayatou ensured Etoo copped the award. Peter Crouch has a better goal ratio than Rooney for the 3 Lions. Does that mean Crouch is better than Rooney? Is Muller better than Fernando Torres? Get some perspective, abeg. Weah won all the relevant individual awards in 1995 - something no African player has achieved and you still insist Etoo is the best. The 2 players should be compared on their personal best. . . . . .Weah's personal best versus Etoo's personal best. Who is greater? Answer that question and get back to me.
According to your moronic sense of reasoning. Cannavaro is better than the greats. . . . Maldini and Baresi, simply because he won the WPOTY. a feat that has never been achieved by these two defenders. now who should get some perspective. I admire consistency anyday, which is why I would gladly admit that I goofed regarding my stance on the Zidane vs Ronnaldinho debate. |
Sagamite:Truthfully, do you believe that the WPOTY award is flawless. case in point. Zidane winning it in 2003, cannavaro in 2006 and Lampard coming 2nd ahead of sameul etoo in 2005. Sagamite:End of discussion, no ingbati, gbati ![]() And thanks for being as objective as possible, was nice having this debate with you ![]() |

Swap Etoo for Weah in the Cameroon team between 1999 and 2010 and Weah woulda done more than Etoo did for his country. Weah also played in Europe in the pre-Bosman era where few foreign players were tolerated in European teams. U cannot use team achievement to judge the 2 players otherwise Hossam Hassan of Egypt is better than Shevchenko of Ukraine.
Why should I cut weah some slacks. etoo has a better club and country career, performance and achievement wise and I backed it up with facts chikena. who gives a poo if he didn't have the opportunity of showcasing his talent on the international stage. etoo's club stats still shits on weah's anyway . |
