~Sauron~:How many times has your team being robbed at the wc? |
☻ajali☺:Spot on. what goes around, comes back around |
What's the diff between some posters on here and the english press. buncha cry babies. let the dissallowed goal rest already it's not the 1st time that has happened in footie |
England pulls one back |
See quality football, germany 2-0 england. absolutely wonderful footie. Is this the same podolski sauron and cohorts termed as mediocre |
My neighbors and colleagues go hear wain, should england fail to beat this young german team |
Combination of strength and balance. sublime |
Klose !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
marutimon:On what basis is drogba better than villa. let's leave sentiment out of this. |
Classic case of medicine after death. had they shown the same aggresiveness and willingness to win against portugal and brazil, the outcome would have been favourable. |
dayokanu:Surprisingly. I think this german team has better cohesion and flair than their 02 and 06 predecessors. Ozil, cacau and Podolski have being more than impressive. whether they have the ability to overcome difficult challenges/teams is what remains to be seen. |
~Sauron~:while I agree with the bolded part to an extent, it doesn't apply to all situations such as in england's case. Do you realise that England has one of the biggest talent pools in the world. Rooney,Gerrard, lampard, lennon, Milner, just to name a few. we all know that these players are world class and magnificent at their respective clubs. in reality, Rooney, ideally has an unfair advantage as he is presented with the luxury of being sorrounded by far greater talents than most stikers in this torny. The Cameroonian team and eto'o or Pienar and the bafana bafana would have been a more appropriate case study to strengthen your argument. simply put in yoruba terms- "olowo kan larin otoshi mefa". |
kay_pumpin:Did you also notice how he substituted a striker for another striker at a period when we desperately needed a goal, when sacrificing ayila or any other md would have been a better and more appropriate decision. Truth be told, largerback made several tactical mistakes in the torny that ultimately played a part in our downfall. however players must share some of the responsibilities as well. save for enyeama, shitttu, yobo and uche, our players were absolutely awful. in conclusion, There's no clear cutting edge between Amodu and lars. both coaches are tactically inept. we desperately need a truly disciplined, passionate and capable manager. enough of wasting the nations resources on mediocres already. of all the second tier teams at the WC, SE appeared to have been the worst. that is a sad reflection of how far we have come. Siasia , in my opinion, is the best candidate for the job and should be given full support and time by the nff and fans to build a formidable squad and restore the nations lost glory. |
Why do some players fail to reproduce their club performance for country. that is the 38th mystery of the world. Fatkubu, torres, messi (even tho he is having a decent wc, but still), 95% of english and french players. . . . . |
~Sauron~:He only shines at liverpool. spain can easily do without him, easily. if it was up to me. I would rather start pedro ahead of him upfront to partner villa |
~Sauron~:hey watch it, you can't be dissing my fellow chav like that ![]() good times, I'm I the only one that thinks the quality of post and general discourse has dwindled over the years. At the time the post was created, eto'o and david villa were head and shoulders above their peers. the cameroonian could literally score with his eyes closed back then. I still don't get the logic behind how torres is better than villa. all the opposing posters should tender a public apology for the blasphemy ![]() |
buzugee:If you think spain were outplayed by switzerland then you don't know footie. switz merely counter-attacked them. |
In over two years, I haven't seen a team force spain to defend and sit back. chile can hold their head high up regardless of the outcome of this match. |
Iniesta !!!! |
Chile has dominated this game yet they are behind. footie ain't always fair |
Nilmer starts for brazil. ope o |
Hugo Gatti retired at 44, same as Neville southall, Zoff and banks both retired at age 41, David james will be 40 next month yet he is still outperforming his younger and fitter competitions. besides I never disputed the fact that goalkeepers form is often affected as they age, however, the rate at which a gk's form drops is the issue here as sauron pointed out, lehmann has never really been exceptional even as a young goal keeper. i don't get the hype here. I will NEVER (atleast for now) compare enyeama to Brad friedel,Van der sar, schmeichel, Cech et al, due to obvious reasons . . . . . when I see quality players/gk's I can't help but doff my hat to them. |
^^ are you implying that muki na ashawo ![]() |
eldee:40 according to my estimation is a right retirement age. it's common sense/knowloedge that goalkeepers have longer career. tell me how many of the highly rated (overrated in lehmann's case) goal keepers were consistently awful towards the end of their career. |
Sagamite, I get the feeling you are just taking the piss. everyone, even my non naija peeps, knows Osaze was one of our worst performers at the world cup. objectively, no one including yourself can dispute that fact. on what basis did osaze impress at the torny. . . . . assist, goal (s), overall productivity. |
eldee:What is the relationship between gk's retirement age and lehmann dropping form to an unacceptable level . get back to me when you have a reasonable aswer |
dayokanu:Are Roger Milla and Maldini goal keepers. poor comprehension skills is often a pre-requisite of old age. how old are you now, you must be 48 ![]() |
eldee:All retard on nl are gayners. that is an established fact and you happen to be a member of the association. Nearing your retirement is not a valid excuse for absolute mediocrity, how many goalkeepers around his age made kindergatten gaffes, consistently before they retired. Oliver kahn, dino zoff, schmeichel et al maintained an above average form till they retired if enyeama gets stick for being human once in a while, why should a "perceived prem quality gk" get a free pass for committing far greater sins. you will dispute that assertion only if you don't believe in the theory of " form is temporal and class is permanent". |
rasputinn:You dey mind them. going by some moronic argument on here. all premiership gk's are not up to standard as they all make bad goal keeping decisions. If mediocres such as almunia, fabianski and foster play in the almighty premiership (sarcasm) then surely enyeama, who is million light years better, is a right premiership quality. |
dayokanu:van der sar is 40 and shows no sign of aging. why hasn't he been replaced by kitkat? Brad Friedel at 39 is still going strong. btw lehmann was dropped to the bench at age 37. if i'm not mistaken gk's usually have longer career and get better with time. so age shouldn't be an issue here. when did you start bumscuking gayners. oh i forgot, the gk in question is german. |
Lehmann supporters club can rave all they want the million dollar question remains. . . If lehmann was premiership standard and world class goalie then why was he dropped for almunia and later offloaded by the club? it's important to note that almunia's goalkeeping skills is mediocre at best. |
ThiefOfHearts:They are already out. from all indication, ghana is the ONLY african team remaining in the competition. |
