CrimeRe: Female–led Robbery Gang That Specializes In Stealing Cars Apprehended In Lagos by Jalingo767(m): 3:43pm On Feb 01, 2019
MediahelmNGR:
The police in Lagos state have arrested members of a female-led armed robbery gang whose speciality is to rob Uber drivers of their vehicles in Lagos state.

Parading two of the gang members, Zino Tochukwu Ude and Anumelechi Chris Williams, before newsmen, the state police commissioner, Edgal Imohimi, said the female member is currently in police custody and is helping with investigations.

Narrating how they were apprehended, CP Imohimi said that on January 19th at about 11.30 am, an Uber driver picked a female passenger from Oniru to Orchid Hotel by 2nd Toll-gate, Lekki. Unknown to him, the woman belonged to a gang of armed robbers. On their way to the lady's destination, the woman asked the Uber Driver to pull over, to enable her collect money from her boyfriend.

While waiting for her, three armed men came out from the location and robbed the driver of his Toyota Corolla car with Reg. No. KRD-827-EY, his two phones and cash sum of N20, 000.00. They carted away with his properties, with the lady in the car.

The police boss says the police is on the trail of other members of the gang still at large.

FamilyRe: 3 Costly Mistakes Couples Make After Marriage by Jalingo767(m): 3:41pm On Feb 01, 2019
gisthabit:
https://gisthabit.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/couples-1.jpg

This article is of great necessity. It was conceived out the experiences of the people around me.
Saying goodbye to the world of singles and moving into the world of the married entails a lot of sacrifices and intelligent decisions.
Most times, newly married couples commit to terrible mistakes that can cause their children and partner great pain in the nearest future.
If you are just got married or intending to then I advise you go through this article paying attention to details so as to avoid making avoidable mistakes in your marriage.

3 Costly Mistakes Couples Do In Marriage

#1. Not Changing Your Next Of Kin

My heart is always heavy with sorrow whenever I remember what some people have gone through and are still passing through because they forgot to change their next of kin immediately after marriage.

For me, these consequences were avoidable if only the concerned parties did the right thing at the right time.

Never take issues concerning who you use as your next of kin for granted. In fact for a married woman or man, your next of kin should be your partner or any of your children.

Entrusting the future of your family to your brother or even a total stranger all in the name of next of kin is a grave mistake that no one should ever commit.

I have a friend of mine (may God rest his soul) who for some reasons forgot to change his next of kin to his wife after marriage. He died after some years leaving his wife and two lovely children behind.

Because his brother was his next of kin, his employer paid his terminal benefits running into millions of naira to him. As at the time of writing this article, his brother has only given the sum of 500,000 naira to the wife since the passing away of the man in 2015.

I don’t want to go on with the treatment being meted on the woman and her children and how the landed property of the late man was taken over by his brother.

The long and short of this is that you should take the bold step by changing your next of kin to your spouse or child. Make that decision now and act immediately.

#2. Hiding Your Investments from Your Spouse

To some people, I know this may sound funny. But the reality is that even in these modern times, some couples hid from each other their personal investments and assets.

Let me remind you that the union of marriage makes the man and the woman a single individual.

This by implication is that you shouldn’t keep anything from the other person. You can begin by having joint assets and properties with your partner. You can also decide to open a joint bank account with your partner.

By so doing, the partner will suffer little or no loss in the event of the death of the other. Check yourself to see if you fall under this category and then make efforts to address the issue.

#3. Agreeing That Only One Person Should Be Working

Apart from the financial benefits that come with working, there is also the exposure and boldness that come with it.

Unfortunately, some couples for one reason or the other decides that one of them (mostly the woman) shouldn't work.

This kind of decision can be catastrophic. As a matter of reality, most idle women find it difficult to cope when their husband dies.

They don’t even know where to start from especially when the kids are still small and are in need of financial care.

I have also seen a situation when a very rich man died and left all his money for the idle wife. Because of her inexperience and lack of exposure, she was unable to manage the resources and businesses left for her by the late husband.

She ended up allowing outsiders come in to help her manage the businesses. I am very sure that your guess is as good as mine, the supposed manager ran the business aground and disappeared with a chunk of money leaving her miserable and helpless.

If you find this article very helpful kindly help educate others who might be making the same mistakes by sharing the article to them. Kindly use any of the share options available.

PhonesRe: Do Higher Megapixels Translate Into Better Cameras/photos? The Truth.... by Jalingo767(m): 2:20pm On Feb 01, 2019

It seems the megapixel wars are upon us again! We at Techtemplar have taken it upon ourselves to enlighten people about megapixels and phone camera workings!!

If I were to state one of the highest form factors that people choose when selecting a phone it would be the Camera...well after the processor and display. Then again, Under the photography department the single highest point that drives consumers to pick a phone should be the megapixel count. You see, people are more likely to choose a phone with a high megapixel rating than one with less. You stand at a shop trying to choose what phone would have a better camera performance between a 24MP and a 12MP. Then you hear of a phone with a whooping 48 megapixels! phone marketers try to cram a lot of megapixels into their phones so as to appear more enticing to potential buyers. Ask any normal person on the street and he'll tell you that a 24mp camera would beat a 12mp camera hands down. Maybe..... But does that mean that a Nokia Lumia 1020 with 40mp would beat a Standard DSLR with 12mp? Now that's where we pin our question. Let's start with the basics and learn what a Megapixel is. You know what a wise man once said, to know what a megapixel is you have to think like a Pixel. cheesy

1.0: What are megapixels?

To define megapixels properly, we must first define a pixel. A pixel is simply the smallest element in a visual image. Back in the days of the old television sets, I bet you could notice tiny squares that on the TV when a movie was showing. Now that might not be possible now with the modern ones because developers just cram more pixels into TV spaces. Think of a pixel like the atom of the Optical Display world.

A pixel in a digital camera captures the image data of the subject( what you're taking a picture of) in a connection to a reflection of the light coming from the subject. The pixel collects the light and turns it into data. The data is the processed to become a final image. So that means pixels work with light right? Ever wondered why low light shots are poorer than perfect light shots? We're coming to that.

A Megapixel is equal to 1,048,576 pixels. Or just say a million pixels. When the pixel collects the data it comes with some kind of grain like poor colour bits. Those bits are called "noise". That's why low light shots are poorer than brightly lit photos. Low-light makes it harder to distinguish between noise and optimum photos.

A megapixel is the normal count of pixels in an image. Simply put, a 5MP camera would capture 5 million pixels, and a 48MP camera would capture 48 million pixels. Cool right?
In fact the world pixel is a combination of two words; Picture and Element.

2.0: Do Megapixels affect camera performance?:

Yes. Megapixels play an integral role in image production. Where they shine more is when you take zoomed photos or just crop out the part you want from a picture. They also play a good deal in printing but we're not going into that for now.

The higher the amount of megapixels on your camera, the higher the amount detail that could be captured. For example a 8MP camera would capture about 50% more detail than a 6MP camera in an image. And double of a 4MP camera which is about four times that of a 2MP camera.

A 20MP photo cropped out would have ''Spare'' megapixels compared to a 12MP camera.

3.0: Do higher megapixels translate into better photo quality?
No. more megapixels does not mean more quality. There are other factors that come into play other than megapixels. The overall quality of a camera or even a photo is determined by the Sensor quality, not only by megapixel count. The size of the sensor and pixel also takes its toll and not to mention the quality of the lenses used.

Cropping Mechanism

Therefore, don’t be surprised when a smartphone that has a lower megapixel count but better sensors and lenses getting the job done more than a smartphone with higher megapixels. Notice this, the more pixels being crammed the small the smaller the area size in the camera sensor to collect the light ray in a junction to the pixels themselves. The sensor and the lenses must align the light direction to produce a satisfying photo.
Now, in essence, a Smartphone with a bad sensor and lenses but with high megapixels would
take bad photos. That’s why the Samsung galaxy S9 and the MI 8 has a standard 12MP camera sensor. Cramming a lot of pixels into a sensor seems easy but the higher the pixels the smaller they become in order to fit in the sensor. Small pixels are also prone to noise. Larger pixels on the other hand collect good bits used to create an image. Pixel sizes are measured in micron.
For example, Samsung’s galaxy S6 had a 16MP camera. The pixel size here was an effective 1.12 micron. On the other hand, the newer S9 has a pixel size of 1.4 micron, on a 12MP camera. You can’t say the S6 is better than the S9 now can you?
More megapixels would just increase the file size of your picture and eat up storage. For a fixed storage phone with no expandable means this can be a problem.

4.0: How to make a good camera phone selection?:

Nice question! If you’re not walking into a store to buy a smartphone, and you have some time to research check out these other form factors regarding your prospective phone.

4.1 The Sensor size:

Mobile phones have smaller build than DSLR cameras hence the reason why they can only host smaller sensors. The more pixels you try to put in a sensor, the smaller they need to be or you increase the sensor size.
A bigger sensor would collect more pixels just like a Jar collecting more cookies. You can break the cookies (maybe grind) to fill the jar or you can just try to fit them as large as they are which is better because no one wants to eat broken cookies. As said above larger pixels produce better photos. Even apple’s Senior VP of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller during the launch of the IPhone 5 was quoted saying ‘’ Bigger pixels mean better pictures’’.

4.2 Look at the Pixel size:

As a follow up to the first point, Smartphone developers are working on means to better low light sensitivity and also reduce noise concentration. These are centred on increasing both pixel and sensor size.
The sensors of DSLR cameras are usually measured in height, width in millimetres (mm) but in smartphones its measured in inches or fractions of an inch.
Most measurements take the place of a form like this, from highest to lowest:

· Full Frame [ 36mm x 24mm]
· APS-C (advanced photo system type-c) [23.5mm x 15.6mm]
· Micro ¼ and 4/3 inches [translates to 17.3 x 13mm]
· One [1] inch [13.2mm x 8.8mm]
· 1/1.7 inch [7.6mm x 5.7mm]
· ½.3 inch [ 6.3mm x 4.7mm]

For example: Huawei’s P20 has a 1/1.7-inch sensor (in line with the 5th point).

But in the case of pixels, the larger the size can help in better photos too.
For example: Google’s Pixel 2 has a pixel size of 1.4 micron on its 8MP sensor.

The Google Pixel 3 XL, There's a reason google named it Pixel....

4.3 Check the Aperture:
Another form factor often neglected is the aperture of the camera on the phone you like. The aperture is the opening by which light comes in. This plays a good deal in low light conditions, thus makes it a good factor.
Aperture is shown by an F/number fraction like
· f/1.2
· f/2.2
· f/10 ETC

Note: The lower the f number, the more light can pass through.
For example: Samsung S9 has a dual focus aperture that gives you a choice of f/2.4 or f/1.5.
Google’s pixel 2 has a aperture of f/1.8.

4.4 CHECK THE MEGAPIXEL OF THE DEVICE:

Please forgive us, but if you check the other factors you can surely let this one slide hehe. grin Just in these modern times, A 12MP camera would definitely do better than a 1MP camera.

So that’s enough to keep you armed against the upcoming battle. Hopefully it won’t come though. Lets hear your thoughts and also, we will soon drop a guide on what dual camera Set-up is best for you in 2019.

seunfly:
Apple's iPhone revenue has plunged in the December quarter, and the company is ready to make some changes.

According to CEO Tim Cook, Apple will reduce prices of the iPhone in markets where local currencies have weakened against the dollar.

“As we’ve gotten into January and assessed the macroeconomic condition in some of those markets, we’ve decided to go back to more commensurate with what our local prices were a year ago in hopes of helping the sales in those areas,” Cook told Reuters (via The Next Web).

If you've never bought an iPhone outside of the U.S., you may not be aware of just how staggering the price difference is. I've been pointing it out over and over and over -- it's hard to justify spending $1,760 for a maxed-out iPhone XS (UK pricing at launch) when the exact same model costs $1,349 in the U.S. And it's even harder in a country like Hungary, where the price is even higher and the average customer's purchasing power is far lower than in the U.S.

Yes, a part of the price difference is in taxes, and yes, the U.S. pricing does not reflect local taxes, and yes, Apple has additional distribution costs in markets other than the U.S. But the simple truth is that iPhone prices are too high for many international buyers, and Apple definitely can do something about it. Now, we've simply reached the point where the company is willing to address the issue.

In the same interview, Cook talked about the growth of its services business. There, revenue is up 19 percent year-over-year, and the company is poised to launch new services in 2019, including (probably) a video streaming service. Cook noted that the services gross margin gets more efficient as services business gets larger, and the business gets larger when the company sells more iPhones, so reducing its price makes sense. But it's worth noting that Cook sang a different tune in 2017, when the company launched the iPhone X, its first $1,000 phone.

In any case, it'll be interesting to see how new iPhones are priced internationally come September. Unfortunately, Apple does not break down iPhone unit sales in earnings reports at all, let alone by market, so assessing the potential benefits from this new strategy will be hard.

HealthRe: Do You Smoke Shisha? - It Will Destroy You Faster Than Cigarette - Medical Exper by Jalingo767(m): 8:06am On Jan 31, 2019
exlinkleads:
I understand the urge to belong is what makes 60% of those Shisha smokers to smoke it, same thing goes to cigarette. But do you know that Shisha is even worst than cigarettes? No wonder FG took a proactive measure in June 2018 to ban Nigerians from smoking Shisha but yet, it didn't stop anybody from inhaling it.

You must read this article to the end....

Scientists in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi have found that Shisha pipes posed more serious medical problems when compared to cigarettes. According to NAN, Ms Ayesha Mohammed, a chemistry lecturer at the University of Sharjah and the lead author of the study, said: “Traditional medwakh and Shisha pipes have no filters.

“So toxic metals can quickly enter the lungs, causing different diseases, such as lung and oral cancers, oral infections and cardiovascular diseases. “I will never recommend dokha (medwakh) and Shisha smoking because both don’t have filters, so trace elements can easily enter human body and cause harm compared to cigarettes and cause several cancers.”

Published in Oxford University Press’s Journal of Analytical Toxicology, the latest study looked at 13 medwakh tobacco products and three shisha products, analysing their properties to determine metal concentrations. The levels were then compared with cigarette tobacco to establish which was more likely to pose health risks.

Levels of nickel, a known carcinogen in medwakh and shisha were found to be particularly high compared to those in cigarettes, while iron levels were found to be roughly the same. The research was co-authored by Prof. Mohamed Al Hajjaj of the University of Sharjah; Abdus Khan of Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi; and Shabber Mohammed and Masrath Mohammed, both of Jazan University, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this year, Ms Mohammed and several co-researchers released a study that reported much higher levels of nicotine and tar in medwakh than in cigarettes, while those in shisha levels were similar to those in cigarettes.

Dr Noordin Wadhvaniya, a respiratory medicine specialist at the Canadian Specialist Hospital in Dubai, said that people who smoke shisha would inhale 26 times the recommended limit of uranium.

“Contrary to the general belief, uranium that is inhaled will most likely damage your kidneys rather than your lungs. “However, it does damage the respiratory tract, creates respiratory irritation and accumulation of fluid in the lungs as well,” he said.

Wadhvaniya added that with one puff, shisha smokers inhaled the same amount of smoke as they got from a whole cigarette.

Question is, why do people keep smoking Shisha and even cigarettes? Share this to friends and families. They deserve to know.

A 45-year-old man, Idowu Owolabi, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command, for allegedly raping his 21-year-old daughter.

According to the state police command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, Owolabi who has three wives, started having sex with his daughter last year at their home in the Papa Olosun area of Oja-Odan in the Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect was arrested after his daughter reported him to the police on January 28th.

“The victim reported that she followed her father to the farm at Fagboun village and the said father forcefully had carnal knowledge of her right there on the farm sometime in March 2018. She stated further that since then, her father had continuously been having unlawful carnal knowledge of her with a threat that he would kill her if she dared tell anybody about it. Upon the report, the DPO Oja-Odan, CSP Olayemi Jacob, led his detectives to the suspect’s residence, where he was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect, who was said to be married to three different women, confessed to the crime but blamed it on the devil” Abimbola said

Abimbola added that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.

PoliticsRe: FLASH: Tight Security In Ebonyi As APC Awaits President Buhari’s Arrival by Jalingo767(m): 6:20am On Jan 31, 2019
joshuaakindele7:
There is tight security in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, as the people of the state, especially the members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, await the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari and his campaign train.

Buhari ‘We are capable of hosting Buhari rally’ Security agencies were, in the early hours of Wednesday, deployed to different parts of the state, especially adjourning streets around Ebonyi State government House, Abakaliki.

Following the development, the movement of vehicles in and around the State had been restricted until the President concludes his assignments in the state. The venue of the rally, Pa Ngele Oruta, is gradually getting filled up with APC supporters as the State government had deployed enough security personnel to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

The president is expected to have an audience with Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, state executive council members, APC stakeholders among others.

Danjuma, other Christian elders reject Onnoghen’s suspension, ACF backs Buhari

The National Christian Elders Forum on Wednesday protested against the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as an Islamic agenda.

The organisation called on Nigerians to mobilise themselves to resist the Islamists in the country.

The NCEF said the President’s decision to suspend Onnoghen was a “judicial coup.”

What was surprising, it said, remained the apparent unwillingness of Christians and other Nigerians to understand the core problem of the country.

Members of the group include Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), Solomon Asemota (SAN), Prof. Joseph Otubu, Gen. Joshua Dogonyaro (retd.), Dr Kate Okpareke, Dr Ayo Abifarin, Gen. Zamani Lekwot (retd.), Elder Moses Ihonde, Elder Nat Okoro and Elder Matthew Owojaiye.

Others are Justice Kalajine Anigbogu (retd.), Elder Shyngle Wigwe, a former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, L. Dabup, Sir John W. Bagu, Dr Saleh Hussaini, Elder Mike Orobator, Justice James Ogebe, JSC (retd.), Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chief Debo Omotosho, Dame Priscilla Kuye, Dr S. D. Gani, Mrs Osaretin Demuren and Prof. Yussuf Turaki.

The NCEF’s statement, which was signed by its chairman, Asemota, was titled, “CJN Onnoghen: What is really at stake and the way out.”

The group said, “In 2015, Nigerians unwittingly elected an Islamist government into office, supposedly on a platform of democracy. It is with this as background that the questionable suspension of the CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, should be situated. The ‘judicial coup’ is not only against the judiciary, but also the constitution that is under attack and with it, the sovereignty of the Nigerian state as a democratic nation.”

The Christian elders also restated their commitment to prayerfully support Christian presidential candidates and indeed any candidates who would be committed and loyal to the tenets of liberal democracy, human rights and equality under the law.

Asemota said the Islamists that belonged to the Salafist sect believed that modern society should run according to the 6th century pattern of Islam.

“Islamism is not a religion but a political ideology which holds that wherever Islam is, Islam must dominate,” he said.

He added, “That is one reason why Islamism is called “political Islam. However, while all Islamists are Muslims, all Muslims are not Islamists. The National Christian Elders Forum is calling on Nigerians to mobilise to resist the Islamists in Nigeria and ensure that they do not return to power again so that Nigerians can concentrate on building a just and equitable society.”

According to them, infrastructure that is sustaining Islamism in Nigeria must be dismantled and democracy must be promoted.

AutoReportNG:
The 2nd Niger Bridge has been a point of discussion for quite a long time, while some are insisting that no tangible work has been on this site, the federal government seems to have another version of story insisting that work is ongoing and at a fast pace.

According to reports, this is the 2nd Niger Bridge Project, Asaba Axis, by Julius Berger. There over 800 personnel on implementation. Early works were completed 4th quarter of 2018. The project is being financed by the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.

A member of the ruling party decided to take a trip to the site of this construction but this time, with a drone, AutoReportNG was able to get some visuals from his trip to this place. To those within this area, you be the judge, what's your assessment of this site? Has there being any tangible development.

PhonesRe: Apple Realizes That International Iphone Prices Are A Bit Ridiculous by Jalingo767(m): 4:57am On Jan 31, 2019
