9. Oyan & Iresi towns of Osun state- Isoko River An Oyan born person must never drink from the waters of "Isoko River". why?
The story goes that, many years ago, an Oyan born lady went to Iresi town to marry. And after a very long years of childlessness, she gave birth to a boy. On a fateful day, the boy was easing himself when a dog came along and ate up the boy's you-know-what and the boy died. The woman cried and wailed "Ko sí oko ni idi omo mi mo o"(my boy's penis is gone) "Aja ti ja oko ni'di omo mi"(the dog has cut off my boy's penis). The pain and agony of this is what got the woman angry and she turned into a river(the river was named after the word the woman kept shouting that day "Kos'oko"wink years of contraction of words gave birth to the word "Isoko". And it became a taboo for anyone born in Oyan town to drink from that water.(since she's one of their own).
OP. Mee I'm from Oyan. But after reading up this line, I went straight to my mummy who just had a faint remembrance of the issue but maintains she heard the story from her grandmother. I think she is trying to acknowledge the fact that truly there is a river an Oyan born person must not drink from. If my mum(who is yoruba-culturally-inclined) should have a faint knowledge of this story, I bet yu the scenerio must have been in the 230bc grin

“I could write a book of 200 pages of my two years at Inter with Mario, but the book would not be a drama – it would be a comedy,

“I remember one time when we went to play Kazan in the Champions League. In that match I had all my strikers injured. No Diego Milito, no Samuel Eto’o, I was really in trouble and Mario was the only one.

“Mario got a yellow card in the 42nd minute, so when I got to the dressing room at half-time I spend about 14 minutes of the 15 available speaking only to Mario.

“I said to him: ‘Mario, I cannot change you, I have no strikers on the bench, so don’t touch anybody and play only with the ball. If we lose the ball no reaction. If someone provokes you, no reaction, if the referee makes a mistake, no reaction.'

“The 46th minute – red card!”

f a Man of God is married, it does not automatically mean the wife of the Man of God is therefore a Women of God! That's not how it is in the Bible. That's why you don't really find wives of Men of God listed in the bible. How many of them? Who was Peter's wife? Did you ever know her name? You'd never find out! Who was John's wife? Did you ever read the name? What about all the other apostles? How namy are registerd in the bible? You never find their names, why? Ask God when you find HIm! **Smiles.[/quote]Really! So why do pastors always put beside them their wife in pictures. If they are not perceived as "women of God", so why creating such impression. I dnt unsderstand o0.

EducationRe: Why The Hate On University Of Ilorin? by jammani(m): 9:38am On Sep 06, 2014
NeuroBoss: I'm a 2011 graduate of the Better by Far university. The vexation of the Unilorin haters is understandable. I used to hate Lionel Messi when C. Ronaldo was in Man Utd just because the former plays for a rival team when it is all glaring Messi is the naturally most gifted.
Without mincing facts, since 2002, Unilorin held the ace of leadership in Nigerian universities due to the firm legacies and structures of its last two Vice-chancellors.

THEIR GROUSE AGAINST US:
That Unilorin has been in operation 24-7-365 is a banal truth.
That Unilorin is the only Nigerian university where students don't get harrassed by lecturers is also known
That Unilorin pioneered the CBT system of examination and a model to others in ICT is also incontestable. This was done initially to curtail incidences of missing results which is inevitable where more than 500 students offer a course before other things were factored in.
Unilorin has the best e-registration platform.
That Unilorin students don't do Aluta so are presumed subjugated. Pray, where do sane people raise placards against a progressive, student-friendly yet assertive leadership.
That Unilorin happens to be in a Muslim enclave? Hell, I'm a Christian and Ilorin is not Pakistan. Nigerians of every tribe, creed and religion are in the school as students and staff to show its federal structure.

WHO HATES UNILORIN?
These people are in different categories. The first in these categories and infact the most bitter are the unfortunate former students who got expelled due to misconducts (yes, unilorin takes no shit), withdrawn due to overly low academic performance. We call them "Face Tanke".
People in the second categories were unsuccessful jambites and remedial students who tried many times to be initiated into "Better by Far" but were not that lucky and have since allowed bitterness to turn to perennial hatred and jealousy concocting various lies such as tribalism, religion and state of origin as reasons for their woes.
The third are just the pathetic students and graduates of other schools who can't just stand us reel out the uniqueness of our Alma mater in glowing terms. They say, "we too dey make mouth". Why we no go make mouth?
When we start something, they copy it.
In 2008, unilorin started a well-ordered student ID programme that made us to wear our ID cards like co-operate people do. The IDs were so structured that from the colour of the rope, you easily tell which faculty a particular student belongs to. And within a faculty, you can tell which department another is with the colour of the plastic casing. What did the copy-cats see this for? They went agog with starting theirs which is yet still not as sleek as Unilorin's.
As part of our convocation package, the school gives us a beautiful T-shirts with all the names of the graduands on it. Every unilorin graduate wear it on camp as if on cue thereby fostering our bonds, organisation and friendship in camp to their chagrin. Now, they have copied it.
I can go on and on but time and space will fail me.
If you have not had the Unilorin experience, your hate is understandable.
Unilorin is being run as Nigeria ideally is suppossed to be ran- innovative leadership, corrupt-free and a long term development plan.
My SUG presido in 2007 taught us a song which seems to spite the hatred.
It goes thus:
"Lèyin Ilórin kòsí varsity o
alágídí l'omo O.A.U,
lèyin kòsí varsity o,
area boys l'omo Unilag"

The haters have since multiplied from all the regions of the country.
Padi. You are intelligently brilliant at dropping punchlines. As in. A good example of "Haters Rest in Peace Piece(HRPP)

EducationRe: Best Nigerian Universities For Studying Medicine by jammani(m): 5:52pm On Sep 04, 2014
Afghanistan: Forget that Unilorin o. I was a medical student there and I must say its really overrated. Insufficient classroom, poor conditions, poor structures and also, the lecturers. Majority of the lecturers no sabi anything as most of them are doctors who were just hired to take up lecturing to fill the gap. Imagine the HOD of a department who cannot speak good english and he calls himself a graduate of MB;BS and has a PHD in anatomy only to miseducate students in anatomy. That's why its very difficult to find professors there. Only a few professors. Another problem is the issue with departments. The college of medicine in unilorin don't have enough departments. They don't even have dentistry, physiotherapy, radiography and so on. Even nursing was just recently established. Despite all these, they keep on withdrawing students anyhow, destroying their careers all in the name of medicine. You just have to make the best of everything in this life and try to be successful in all endeavours. Just believe that you'll make it and with hardwork, you will.
Best Regards.

IslamAre You This Kind Of Muslim? Then You Have A Message. by jammani(op): 4:46pm On Jul 31, 2014
Yes! I understand so many things, how fasting wasn't easy, you had to pause gyrating, flexing and other mundane lifestyles. You had to forcefully succumb to Allah's orders, you broke the record you set for yourself by continuosly praying five times daily in a month; something that has never happened to you this year. Ramadan regime was so "bad" to have imposed a curfew in your stomach. At first it looked like a mirage, only to be seen as reality when Almighty Allah started banning the importation of alcohol in your digestive system, infact you need to adjust to swallowing only your saliva when drinking ordinary water leads to another 60 days of continuous abstinence. To you, what a punishment. I understand you, I salute your patience, the ordinary you doesn't accede to divine orders so cheaply. The same salat you have been turning your deaf cochlea to before ramadan is still the same prayer you looked forward to before its timely arrival. To your soul which is in the process of jump-starting; ramadan is simply an act of admonition and pursuance through the use of divine decree.. I choose not to cite any quranic sayings so as not to get you bored in the process of our discusion because I noticed you were so lucky to have a tafsir programme few steps away from where you enjoyed your films which you tried to confuse your conscience by maintaining "film no dey spoil fast joor" because of laziness and the fear of the teachings stoning you. You avoided women touching you including profane languages, they laughed profusely when you mentioned "haram" because they were suprised to see you holy. If not because of ramadan; you for don tear his face with slap. You have moulded your soul that way, hiring devil as the project manager. Having able to sit you down by this style of hortatory e-sermon, I wouldn't want to waste so much of your time before getting you reasoned like a salvated soul. Please open up your mind to the following;

1. Salat!!!. Your main problem, you can't just explain why you are not used to five times salat prayers. But alhamdulilah for ramadan who made salat an easy task for you, if during ramadan yu can help call people and say "brother its time for salat" you are already in the league of those Almighty Allah promises aljanat, ofcourse you don't need to be told if you discontinue the habit of getting closer to Allah through salat that you are going to hell. Please bros keep praying for your own good.

2. You are a heavy episodic drinker of alchohol, infact you can consume a whole brewery, ramadan came and you paused. During the process of cessation, nothing happened to you, infact you didn't die in approximately 30 days of no-liquor; my brother let's be factual, your death can never happen as a result of total abstinence from alcohol

3. Adultery/fornication! Subuhanallah!, ramadan came, perfomed a spiritual surgical operation on your infected organs of mind, thought, soul, heart and reasoning. When your usual bedmate came, please starts going I am fasting is what you vehemently maintained. No emotional distress, no injury, no loss of anything whatsoever, no death. Infact you witnessed a persistent increase in eeman. You have won the battle and the war, why would you want to allow a victor like you gets captured again. Free ziina, what it does is to make you a chief tenant in hell, Ramadan has helped you achieve it, you can as well continue from there.

4. None shall see the mercy side of Allah except the Muslim pious, you don't need to bother on your past life but pondering over it pensively would help. Now that you have seen yourself as a mummin(thanks to ramadan). you could feel the new you, a living witness of how teqwa is . Congratulations!! Just continue, life is short, who knows your "day" is near, if you change back to your customized settings and death knocks......... May Allah save us from what the victims shall experience on the day of resurrection.

5. Random good morals is what you cant boast of before the holy month, but now, you have discovered those who doesn't lie, steal, backbite, who are tolerable, cheerful-givers, brother's keeper and other numerous good deeds to mention but few are a product of 9months parturiency period like you.I know you got to realise that when your socio-religious practices witnessed a spiritual uplift, now ramadan has helped you, please continue helping yourself; it is an effortless task if you want to be sincere with yourself .

Fasting as opposed to mere starvation or self denial is basically an act of worship to Allah whose primary purposes include peity, obedience to Allah, self-refraint, self-purification, God-consciousness, compassion, the spirit of luv, generousity, care, concern, sharing, patience, unselfishness, love of humanity, an act of worship, thanksgiving, asking for forgiveness, spiritual training, self examination etcetera . "This kind of Muslim" having witnessed spiritual lift-up in mind, body and soul, we pray Almighty Allah in his infinite mercy continue to rectify and sustain him/her on the path of those whom you have bestowed favour on. We pray HE continues to make firm the foot of those that have already been on the right path till the day of accountability.
