While group may seem accurate semantically, it doesn't accurately describe their relationship.

The apostles were individual members of a heavenly body, so as they were , they were not sufficient to be called the group.

The ekklesia is a heavenly organism, individual Christians are elected to be part of that organism, the organism is a unit, and the individuals are subunits of the unit.

The christ is a unit, the body of christ comprises of the components of that unit.

Until the unit is complete youncant talk about a group , all you have a individual parts.
