The Ministry of Works, Power and Housing is to spend N20, 692,987,864 on the provision of electricity to its corporate headquarters in Abuja.
The expenditure, which is contained in the 2016 Appropriation Bill, also includes the sum of N45, 463,197 for fuelling of its generating plants.
Following the amalgamation of the three key ministries, there seems to have been an attempt to also grant the ministry and its parastatals a huge chunk of the national budget, particularly in the power sector.
For instance, the National Rural Electrification Agency (NERA) has been allocated the sum of N9.7 billion; Electricity Management Services was allocated the sum of N2.2 billion; National Power Training Institute has N1.3 billion; Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Limited has N3.3 billion; Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Plc. has N60.7 billion, while the Transmission Company of Nigeria got an allocation of N48.2 billion.

Similarly, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has been allocated the sum of N46.2 billion, just as the sum of N569,566, 969 has also been allocated to the same ministry for local and foreign travels; maintenance of motor vehicles and transport equipment as well as for fuel and lubricants of its vehicles.
The same ministry has proposed a total of 19 new electricity projects valued at N20.287 billion and 78 road projects estimated to cost N260.838 billion.

These projects are located in different parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) yesterday met with the local manufacturers of pre-paid meters in Abuja to address the problems of estimated billing and electricity theft.
The meeting, according to a statement by the Director of Press, Ministry of Power, Mr. Timothy Oyedeji, was to re-focus attention on the need to rapidly roll-out meters in order to ensure that Distribution Companies (DISCOs) charge electricity consumers only for energy they consume.

According to Oyedeji, the report submitted to the meeting showed that there are estimated over three million unmetered customers nationwide.
This informed government’s policy to bridge this metering gap as quickly as possible with maximum impact on local manufacturing and employment potential fully harnessed.
Speaking at the meeting, representative of the local manufacturers, Engr. Kola Balogun, said that access to and cost of credit is a major impediment to the growth of their production capacity in meeting present and future demand for meters.
He assured the minister of their readiness to support the rapid rollout of meters, but expressed concerns over government’s readiness to put in place clearer incentives for local production as opposed to importation of meters.

Go ahead with your WES evaluation and if after assessing your credentials your ECA has the same dob as your transcript, send an email to WES to rectify this and include your birth certificate. I know someone who was in your shoes and WES updated the ECA for him. You do not need the transcript for the FSW application itself.

1. The United States


The U.S. defence budget is $US612 billion (Nigeria's total budget for everything including corruption is about $US25 billion). Despite sequestration and other spending cuts, the United States spends more money on defence than the next ten highest spending countries combined.

America’s biggest conventional military advantage is its fleet of 19 aircraft carriers, compared to 12 carriers operated by the rest of the world combined. These massive carriers allow the U.S. to set up forward operating bases anywhere and project power throughout the world.

The super power also has by far the most aircraft of any country, cutting-edge technology like the Navy’s new rail gun, a large and well-trained human force — and that’s not even counting the world’s largest nuclear arsenal.

2. Russia

Two decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia’s military is growing again. The Kremlin’s military spending has increased by almost a third since 2008 and is expected to grow 44% more in the next three years. Today, the Russian defence budget stands at $US76.6 billion.

Russia currently has 766,000 active frontline personnel with a reserve force of 2,485,000 personnel. These troops are backed up by 15,500 tanks, the largest tank force in the world. Russian soldiers generally receive relatively mediocre training, however, and their equipment, like that tank force, is ageing.

3. China


China has embarked upon a relentless policy of massive military spending, with a 12.2% increase in spending over the past year. China’s defence budget stands at $US126 billion but could unofficially be higher, prompting concern across Asia as China attempts to project its power to settle border disputes with Japan and the Philippines.

The size of the Chinese army is staggering, with 2,285,000 active frontline personnel with an additional 2,300,000 in the reserves. China also has a history of successfully stealing sensitive military technology, such as recently acquiring sensitive information about the new F-35.

4. India


India’s defence spending is expected to rise as it pursues a modernization drive. Currently, it is estimated that India only spends $US46 billion on its budget, and it is slated to become the fourth highest spender by 2020. It is already the world’s largest importer of military goods.

India has ballistic missiles with a range capable of hitting all of Pakistan or most of China. Indian military strategy has been dominated by its long-simmering conflict with Pakistan, although there have also been minor wars between China and India in the past.

5. The United Kingdom

The U.K. is planning on reducing the size of its armed forces by 20% between 2010 and 2018, with smaller cuts to the Royal Navy and RAF. The defence budget stands at $US54 billion.

Despite scaling back, the U.K. counts on being able to project its power around the world. The Royal Navy is planning on putting the HMS Queen Elizabeth, an aircraft carrier that has a flight deck measuring at 4.5 acres, into service in 2020. The Queen Elizabeth is planned to carry 40 F-35B joint strike fighters around the world. Thanks to superior training and equipment, Britain could still hold an advantage over emerging powers like China, according to a leading think tank.

6. France

France effectively froze its military spending in 2013 while cutting 10% of its defence jobs in an effort to save money for purchasing high-tech equipment. The country spends $US43 billion a year on defence, which is 1.9% of its GDP, below the spending target set by NATO for member countries.

Despite a levelling off of its military budget, France is still highly capable of projecting force around the globe, with significant deployments in the Central African Republic, Chad, Mali, Senegal and elsewhere around the world.


7. Germany

German military strength falls short of its economic strength on the world stage. Recently, Germany has started considering offering military support to eastern European NATO members. It has also considered a more active international role militarily. Germany spends $US45 billion on its military annually, making it the eighth largest spender in the world.

Following the aftermath of World War II, the German population generally became anti-war. The German military was originally limited to a defence force, but has become more accustomed to taking an active international role following the breakup of Yugoslavia. Germany only has 183,000 active frontline personnel with an additional 145,000 members in the reserves. Germany eliminated mandatory service in 2011 in an attempt to create a professional army.

8. Turkey

Turkish military spending is expected to rise 9.4% in 2014 over the 2013 budget. The ongoing conflict in Syria and possible clashes with the Kurdish separatist organisation, the PKK, were key reasons for the spending increase. Turkey’s defence budget stands at $US18.2 billion

The NATO member has contributed soldiers to various initiatives around the world. The Turkish military took part in operations in Afghanistan, as well as in peacekeeping operations in the Balkans. Turkey also maintains a large military force in Northern Cyprus.


9. South Korea


South Korea has been increasing its defence spending due to both the increasing armament of Japan and China, and the constant threat from North Korea. South Korea spends $US34 billion on defence.


South Korea has a relatively large military force for its small size. It has 640,000 active personnel with an additional 2,900,000 personnel in the reserves. South Korea also has 2,346 tanks and 1,393 aircraft. The South Korean military is generally well-trained and routinely takes part in military exercise with the United States. South Korea’s air force is also the sixth largest in the world.


10. Japan


Japan increased its defence spending for the first time in 11 years in response to growing disputes with China. It has also started its first military expansion in over 40 years by placing a new military base on its outer islands. Japan spends $US49.1 billion on defence, the sixth most in the world.

Japan’s military is fairly well-equipped. It currently has 247,000 active personnel with an additional 57,900 in reserve. Japan also has 1,595 aircraft, the world’s fifth largest air force, and 131 ships. Japan’s military is limited by a peace clause in the constitution that makes it illegal for the country to have an offensive army.

11. Israel


Israel spends significantly more than its neighbours proportionally for defence. In 2009, Israel spent 18.7% of its national budget on defence. Israel’s defence budget stands at $US15 billion.

A large percentage of the Israeli defence budget goes toward defence technology. One of the best examples of this is Israel’s Iron Dome, a missile defence shield that can intercept rockets shot into Israel from the Palestinian territories. Israel aims to replace Iron Dome with a laser defence shield called Iron Beam.

A 35–year old Nigerian (Biafran), Oshanugor James Anyasi, who duped a Vietnamese women of about N400 million while professing love to her, has been sentenced to 12 years in jail by a Vietnamese court.

According to Thanh Nien News, Anyasi was found guilty by an Hanoi Court on two counts of fraud and cyber crime.

According to the report, the Anyasi and three others met each other in September 2012 and decided to cheat Vietnamese women by hooking up with them online, pretending to be their lovers and promising them expensive gifts, then faking phone calls and e-mails from customs and shipping agencies to ask them to transfer shipping fees to certain accounts.

On investigation, however, it was revealed that the gang had stolen money from 10 women, with Anyasi getting 15 per cent of the money by playing the role of an English businessman and chatting with the women, while their female accomplice got 10 per cent, and the other two, who are reportedly based in Malaysia, took 75 per cent.

Reports further said that one of the women based in southern Vietnam paid the gang a shipping fee of nearly 21 million Vietnam dong before getting an e-mail asking for another VND46 million, and that was when it dawned on her that she had been scammed.

Another woman in Nha Trang in central Vietnam, reportedly parted with VND100 million, believing it was a fee to receive around VND10 billion that Anyasi was transferring to Vietnam to buy land in the resort town.




In the same vein, a Ho Chi Minh City woman, who was reportedly promised an iPhone, a ring and 10,000 pounds, paid VND12 million.

Meanwhile, reports say Anyasi had earlier been arrested in February while waiting to board a fl ight to Cambodia, following another fraud case in which he stole $12,000 by hacking into the e-mail of a Vietnamese company and asking its partners to transfer the money.

In fact, above N3 in the past 3 years. Within this period, UBA didn't come close. UBA would have to prove to the market, that it can reproduce even better results year in, year out. Consistency is required from UBA before the bank can be repriced accordingly......and yes, they need to raise their game in terms of shareholder reward too.

Many people may not know nor pay attention to it , but it is wrong for appointed or elected official to use his personal medial channels eg Twitter Facebook in their official capacity.

With the advent of electronic mail and social media, Its role and usage in official capacity is still not well defined as most actor are yet to draw a clear line between official and personal channels of communication.

For Example, Presidents, Presidents aids, ministers and aids Governors and their aids use emails to communicate and social medial to inform the public of government policies and activities.

These actors represent institutions and for the purpose of continuity, reference, history, and archive should stop using personal channels for activities.

For example in the last administration of Goodluck Jonathan,Reuben Abati and Doyin Okupe Used their personal twitter, Facebook and other channels to report the activities of Pres. Jonathan. Reubenabati.com.ng replaced probably asorock.com or presidency.com.ng is there is any to document Nigeria's presidency. After his sojourn at the presidency he went home with most detailed online documentation of the presidency. What happens if Reuben Abati decide to shut down @abati1990?

Your clearing house number is all that matters. Since you used same CHN no need. your account will be credited. I bought FBNH PO in 2007 dematerialized my certificate with cashcraft later i submitted edividend with first registrar. When I started using Morgan i did not submit any new ediv with first registrar. In fact my E dividend mandate on first bank shares was used for Oando and all other first registrar stocks i purchased via Morgan
