Please let's be sincere and don't get it twisted, what is the probability of getting the job on merit, please I need the metrics?
I will say 50%. But it could be more.

I have friends that got NNPC jobs without knowing anybody there.

It's not possible that every single person that will be recruited will be by connection.

Let's say they want to hire 200 people. At least 100 will be by merit. You can fight for a slot in that 100 too.

There is more to this than this mail and someone is not saying a lot of things...
Exactly. There was a previous contact where the HR lady treated the candidate badly. This is a sequel to something.

The sentence "that you are responding in such a way" shows the HR lady had given the guy some discourteous response to a courteous follow-up before this email.

N7-8m gross per annum

That's like N470k to N500k net per month.

But since they do upfront system, it may be like N2.4m upfront in January and N270k to N300k per month subsequently.
Confirmed from the friend again that the upfront is N4m. So the monthly net pay will be lower.

How much was he paid as a graduate trainee? Cuz I saw on another thread on this nairaland that some people that were able to get a slot through a senior staff in nnpc didn't take the offer because the pay was too small.
I have a friend that got NNPC GT job in 2012. He was offered 3.4m or so as gross per annum.

He got a job in another indigenous oil company around same time. Pay was slightly higher (N4m-N5m) but faster growth opportunities.

I advised him to reject NNPC and take that one.

pls gurus in the house;

The average cost of 5 oranges and 4 guava is 36 naira. The average cost of 7 oranges and 8 guava is 48 naira. What is the total cost of 24 oranges and 24 guava
This is what is called word problem. Let me help you translate it from word to equation:

If (5x+4y)/9=36

and (7x+8y)/15=24

Find 24(x+y)

That is what that sentence is saying.

Complete it yourself.

My man, this is not even a case of them having faith, this is a case of self-deception. They seek for any form of rumor whatsoever just to feed the delusion that there's another batch to be called. What have they not said here that's the reason why they've not been called - is it PIB, is it Easter, is it Sallah, is it Inauguration or even that Buhari is taking a poo and to wait till he is done before they'd call? Bro, they've exhausted every available rumor out there and that's why its bad enough that full grown adults cant tell facts from a mirage. I was once of the belief that a second batch was in the offing, but just as a new born is never thought how to breath, no one had to tell me the recruitment was over. Its so glaring that if anyone cant see it then the person is blind. This is June 2019 already, mark my words, they'd be here till December 2019 discussing and shifting dates of their purported second batch.
LOL. I followed the DPR recruitment and coached a couple of people for the interview. The successful ones have resumed since last year.

I just stumbled into this thread again yesterday and was surprised there were still people waiting for any second batch.

Not sure I have seen that kind of illusion before.

Whenever I come here, I’m amased as to how Nigerians love the slavery mentality. Yes, it’s slavery mentality, because anyone with his/her right mind will be know this ship has sailed but you people here have chosen to be slaves of second batch. You find it had to swallow the truth hence you prefer to wallow in delusion. If after two upfront payments, you still believe there is a second batch, then I’m very very sorry for you. You need help.
I made peace with myself long ago concerning this recruitment. I hope you do the same.

Smh!
I was surprised to run into this thread and see that some people are still on this DPR recruitment.

Nigerians and "faith"!

I had a 2'1 in Mathematics from FUTA. Going by this thread, I've not seen anyone that can match me in this test speaking of which most of the answers the math guru in this thread are posting. Perhaps the recruiter knew I was going to break the record of having the highest score in this test, that is why they never shortlist me. I am better than Most first class graduates, None can par with me. i will move on to better things anyways
With this grammar?

Doubt me, ask those who've been to Libya.
I know someone would bring Islam into the picture.

I have seen many news/threads on racism in European countries and no one mentioned the religion of the people.

By the way, Muslims are only slightly more than non-Muslims in Lebanon.

Lol, Jarus, what you've said cannot be truer. I tell them, I tell people this same thing. Do not use exceptions as rules. Ceteris paribus, it is easier to make it with decent-to-top grades than with none.

I tell my family members and younger friends, don't come and be a burden to me oo. Do what you do excellently well, and then I will splash resources on you to support you..

Meanwhile, one of your "egg heads" (I forget his name now) was invited all the way from naija to Boston for the HBS African conference this year. I had an interesting conversation with him. Humble guy. He seems to be intersecting technology with asset management in a nice way, said he resigned his oil job. Perhaps another billionaire in the making.

Young people, push and do your best - push more if you are from a background of lack. Eventually, your chances of succeeding will be higher.
Yeah, he is doing well for himself.

A boy from poor background whose ambition while growing up Kano was to become a mechanic!

Now running a startup with billion naira assets

Humbled that he mentioned me in this audio interview as one of the people he met in school that changed his life

I pity those of you that are not "daughters-in-law" to a governor.

The truth is, if you are from a poor family, decent grade in school remains your best bet to a decent post-school life.

2009 or so. Was invited for a job interview in Lagos. I decide to Google the company name before traveling all the way down to Lagos. Google directed me to a thread were I realized it was a GNLD marketing scheme. That thread saved me money, time and stress of travelling down to Lagos. I was very grateful and since then, I kept visiting nairaland.

Really enjoyed the politics section then; I think Jarus was a politics mod then. I enjoyed the convo and argument featuring the likes of Beaf, aj_harem etc.
