The way these Supersports analysts are hyping Nigerian players, I hope they wont get heart attack.
Falcons have not been exciting in recent times, or at the world stage at aĺl, to elicit these expectations o.
Given that Norwegian women have beaten even more exciting Falcon teams in the past. Beaten Nigeria 3 out of 3 times at previous editions. |

majestique: To be honest i understand everyone's point but i can assure you that it is easier said than done. people may not understand what it means to board a plane, take off and land successfully until they become that " 1 in 11 million" (like someone said) unfortunate soul(s) to experience a crash as a result of turbulence. I used to be a very carefree person until i experienced the pain of accident maybe that's why i know better. Same here. I used to be very carefree. I just sleep off no matter how short the flight is. In fact, I had been in a very severe turbulence before, Doha-Lagos in January 2013. I was still very calm. But since that ET incident in March this year, flying has never been the same for me again. Pius Adesanmi that died in the Ethiopian crash in March was a close friend. I never thought I would know someone personally in a plane crash. Since that incident, all the about 10 or so times I had flown between March and today, I got scared at the slightest issue - even mild turbulence. It's scary. |
Travel › Re: Pilot Saves A Plane Enroute Calabar From Crashing by Jarus(m): 12:15pm On Jun 06, 2019 |
majestique: Turbulence can cause plane crashes, either as the primary reason for an accident or a contributing factor. According to the FAA, 234 turbulence accidents occurred from 1980 to 2008 resulting in 298 serious injuries and three fatalities. Of those serious injuries, 184 victims were flight attendants and 114 were passengers. Of the three fatalities, two were passengers who were not wearing their seat belts while the fasten seatbelt sign was on. Most turbulence-related accidents occur at or above 30,000 feet and many are linked to passengers not being securely fastened in their seats.
In 1966, a British Overseas Airways plane crashed and the tail fin tore apart after experiencing winds in excess of 140 miles per hour. In 1968, turbulence tore a wing off a Wien Consolidated Airlines flight in Alaska. More recently, in 2009 an Air France flight flew into a storm. In an attempt to steer away from inclement weather, the pilot sent the plane into an aerodynamic stall, which caused the plane to crash. In that tragedy, a combination of turbulence, airspeed sensor malfunction and most likely pilot error all contributed to the crash. https://www.slackdavis.com/blog/can-turbulence-cause-a-plane-to-crash/ This stat says it all. Over 28 years (1980 - 2008), 3 persons died from turbulence issues and it was because of not fastening seat belt (probably hitting head against something or a trauma), not that the plane crashed. You were able to dig out only 3 air crashes in history from turbulence - one in 1966, another in 1968 and another in 2009. Millions of air travels in that period. And in almost all the 3 cases, turbulence was only a contributory factor, pilot error was the main issue. Still supports the stat that chance of accident happening from turbulence is extremely low. PS: Knowing this stat since about 10 years ago, I always felt relaxed no matter the turbulence, but since the crash of March 10 where I lost a senior friend, I get scared at any slight issue now. I hope I overcome it and return to my good old days of enjoying flight. |

I used to be extremely relaxed in plane no matter the degree of turbulence, but since I lost a close person in the Ethiopian crash of March 10, every slight issue inside an aircraft scares me stiff. |

For those who have experience:
Can I use my freelancing experience on my CV? Been freelancing for like 3 years... If there you were not in a structured employment, add it. Better than having a gap on your CV. Those are the areas that trigger difficult questions in NNPC interview, where a good number of the questions will be from your CV. But if you were in a structured employment, no matter how insignificant, put it, as it is better than freelancing for this kind of job. So here is my ranking Nothing/gap < freelancing experience < structured employment. All the best. |

Yes, except the monthly payment of 190k (for GT) as someone posted earlier and 13th month (like extra 1 month salary) in November or so. Of course, there are other irregular payments like estacode when you travel etc |

Traditional British setting.
Britain has a very rich tradition that people may not know.
I once stayed in a traditional British hotel, Chesterfield Hotel, Mayfair, that showcases traditional British tradition - from the building to the dining setting to the food.
When you use all those multinational hotel brands like Hilton, Novotel etc in London, you may not get enough feel of British tradition. |

simplebb: Thanks for the input Oga Jarus.
Two major events, I know anything government there are always intricacies....
On the leadership, Baru has done well since his inception as GMD NNPC, was even commended sometimes ago by the first GMD of the corporation Sir Marinho, though there is still more to do as regards NNPC profitability. He might still be retained the same way Emefiele was retained (though this is two totally different organizations, and I don't know the politics that goes on in there) but his chances of carrying on are quite strong.
On the Unbundling, that is one big factor. one can only hope if the president assent to it, the implementation should not be immediate cos that would definitely slow down the recruitment as they will need to put a lot of things in order. I agree there is a very high chance that Buhari retains the GMD. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Apply For 2019 NNPC Graduate Trainee And Experience Hire by Jarus(m): 9:48am On Jun 03, 2019*. Modified: 10:26am On Jun 03, 2019 |
simplebb: Well suggested considering the post test decisions, you know a lot of things will be considered.
To me, they might decide to first release test scores before calling for interview and they might not.
NNPC has shown seriousness with this recruitment, updating every stage of the recruitment on Twitter and several national dailies, I didn't even expect us to write test as early as June after application closed towards March ending considering the long time frame of government organizations recruitment (DPR own be like 2 yrs course lol).
So on that note, July ending at max we should have update on interview.
We pray they don't suspend it like the 2012 own.
P.S: It's good to start preparation early. A major event that may slow down the process is change of NNPC GMD. If GMD is changed with Buhari's second coming (which I doubt) it may slow the process. Change of GMD could mean the new GMD will reorganize the departments and top management, including the COO Services, who is the highest executive sponsor of this recruitment. This may lead to this recruitment falling in priority for some time. Change of government stopped the 2014 recruitment they were doing. Another potential event that could cause delay, perhaps even cancellation, is presidential assent of PIGB, which unbundles NNPC into 2 different companies. Depending on whether it will take immediate effect or there will be a transition period that could be up to a year, this recruitment may be suspended or even canceled is NNPC is split sooner. You guys should hope the recruitment is completed before this happens. The Bill was sent to the president last year but he rejected it and the Senate has made amendments and ready to be returned to the President for assent. You may hope that the incoming NASS does not give it an immediate priority or the president rejects it again or there is a relatively long transition period (eg a year) if signed now. |
